Hey guys!

I'm kinda new to Eldar so I don't really know if my list is very effect or what I can do to improve.. So any help would be appreciated. I've gone with the models and ideas that I liked. I've put this into the army list section also but I'd like to discuss different options and uses for it too [u]

Illic Nightspear

Farseer

5 rangers

5 rangers.

5 wraith Guard with D-scythes
In wave serpent with scatter lasers

5 wraith Guard with Wraithcannons
in wave serpent with scatter lasers

2 war walkers with starcannons and scatter lasers
2 war walkers with starcannons and scatter lasers

WraithKnight with suncannon and scattershield.

It comes to 1550 so I'm 50 points over :/ I really like the idea of using illic and his rangers as it fits my theme. I just don't know where to drop my 50 points? Any ideas?

Thank you

Well, atleast one of the war Walker squads should be dual Bright Lances and drop the cannon and shield from the Knight. Downgrading the Farseer to a Spiritseer means a Wraithguard squad can reroll 1s for shooting, very useful for the cannons. That gives you very reliable anti-heavy armor options scattered throughout.

As for how to play it, I'm not running the numbers so I'm going to assume your Rangers are Pathfinders? Took that upgrade? If they did, then you use them as force multipliers. Kill Melta, Plasma and heavy weapons in a static gunline and once a squad has nothing big left, the tanks can roll through them. If you must get the points, you don't NEED a second HQ but a Spiritseer giving Ob Sec to the Guard and Serpents is a huge bonus.

It's a very gunline list. On long table deployment I've had great luck with something similar, but on wide table it's much much more difficult. I'd say carve out a corner with pathfinders in the center to get a 2+ cover save in a ditch or something, then advance as need be but don't soread out. It has to be a spearhead, not Swordwind.

This should also be in Army Lists.

No, unfortunately I didn't take the pathfinder upgrade as I was out of points to spend, but if I dropped the cannon and shield, and took a spirit seer then I may have the points? Although may it be better keeping them and buying two spirit seers for each unit?

Rangers are absolute garbage unless their upgraded, and no, you wouldn't have the points. You would have the points if you dropped the Wraithknight completely, but it's a 65pt upgrade per five Rangers. If you want a sniper list, you have to build around snipers, not wraiths.

If you're looking at running the snipers, drop the standard Wraithguard and their Serpent, definitely take the Bright Lances and maybe add a third 2x Lance Walker to that unit to make up for the S10 shots you lose out on. The Spiritseer becomes pointless with template D-Scythes except as a basic psyker.

Or, jump up to 1850. But here at 1500, you have to pick a theme and then fill out with other units. Wraiths are expensive and good snipers are expensive. Make a choice and go with it but you can't have both and have other big ticket items like a 240+pt Wraithknight and two high cost themes.

I feel if I drop a unit if rangers and upgrade the other then ill have a really low model count :/ thing is.. The only other options for padding my army out is with guardians?! :/

I do like illac... I think his rules are pretty fun. Maybe not the best. But fun all the same! Same for rangers. Lower their ld with a farseer and pin the unit for a turn

But I'm not the best general. I don't want a win at all costs list. Just a fun list that I'm not going to get tabled with :/

Sniper lost Pinning. Your Serpent Shields have it though.

Kind of an eclectic army. Rangers and Illiac are quite squishy, and won't do a ton of work. But double serpent + Wraithknight will win against many non-tourny 1500 lists on their own.

If you want funzies, I'd:
-Drop a Ranger unit
-'Downgrade' the Farseer to a Spirit Seer, making your Wraithguard troops
-Either replace one of the SLs with another weapon (like BL or ML) without taking the chin 'cannon (to be nice to your opponent), or drop the second Serpent altogether, for other units.

If you want a more solid backfield troop, Guardians +BL will usually do much more than Rangers, for the points. But I do love fielding a unit of Rangers.

Unless you're in a competative meta, the WK is an absolute beast. That alongside 2 gunboat Serpents will be mean.

I say, Drop Illic Nightspear , give your farseer a bike, get a spiritseer, give your walkers Bright Lances.

If you really like Nightspear and whanna keep him just downgrade the Farseer to a spiritseer. That way you have a shootie army with 6 troops to hold objectives , 2 units of snipers for harassment, 8 bright lances to deal with vehicles, and the wraithguard wit the D-scythes to deal with swarms and assaults with their 5d3 overwatch.

All in all, a solid medium range shootie army. Not tournament material but strong enough without being cheesy.

I am not a bastard. I am the Bastard and its Mr. Bastard to you!

Cool list. I rarely see pathfinders anymore.

I remember YMDC got pretty heated over this but was there ever a definite conclusion on using Illic to infiltrate Scytheguard? Because you could drop a wave serpent while not completely losing your competitive edge and use the points for upgrades etc.

I'm backing dropping the Farseer for a spiritseer and relegating the Knight to be stock and hunt tanks.

All hail Krull and his glorious new regime!

-Sincerely, Little Girl

Okay I may take a spirit seer instead of the farseer but I wanna talk illic. Mainly for him looking like a fun character.

What If I kept the star cannons on the war walkers and Downgraded the wraith knight?? That's 2 str 10 shots from the knight and 5 from the guard??
