I applied for a factory job nearby so I could get some XP in this field. Sadly, my knowledge is limited, but I will try!

Did you make this? And if so, can you easily take it apart? Is the plan to mass produce it for profit, or to have a few to give to friends?

I didn't, it's made by Bandai for Gundams.

I want to make something similar for wargaming though, I need to estimate how much this would cost for mass production.

Depends on the grade of steel mold you are using.

Wyrd Games said a mold will cost about 5k to 50k depending on complexity and the size of the miniature and frame.

Proxie models is one possible source for production. Unfortunatley they seem to have taken down their video on how he works.

A case like the one above is going to be and EXTREMELY expensive project. Based the picture above, You're looking at very large parts. A small shop like proxie doesn't have an injection machine large enough to do those panels. That means you're looking at more expensive options.

I'm just tossing numbers out there, but I think you're looking at well over $50K in costs (probably much more) just to get it into production.

If you're willing to use a softer plastic (like a Plano case) the costs will be less, but it also won't be as paintable.

Unless he can design it to be exceptionally modular based on maybe 2-3 panels.

But yeah its going to cost a hella lot.

Good Point.
Still, you're looking at at least 3 unique pieces and each of those is likely going to be as big or bigger than a standard sprue.

To the OP,
is this a display case or a storage case?

That's a shame. It was a really interesting video.
