I was thinking about starting a minons (both pacts) or skorne. What is the currant state of the tow packs? will playing both of them give a bit of options in play styles ? anything i should know?

Both pacts are very limited in their options. Especially pigs.

Gators have basically 3 competitive lists. Rask with Bog Trogs, Maelock, and Barnabus. Maelock and Barnabus are very similar beast and infantry load outs. Basically max gator men posse, wrastler, a couple snappers, and either a second wrastler or a swamp horror. Occasionally a spitter gets used. Rask is lots of bog trogs, a couple spitters, and maybe a wrastler or snapper. Lists may have Swamp Shambler unit too.

Pigs are even more limited. Carver and Helga are the only casters usually, outside of Arkadius's new tier list.

Pig lists are almost always 2 warhogs, a road hog, maybe a couple razorboars or a gunboar. Then several units of brigands and slaughterhousers. Targ and Maximus will be one of the lists, not necessarily the same list.

Arkadius's tier list is good. Its usually 2 Gorax, 2 warhogs, 2 road hogs, 2 gunboars, and then the free razorboars. Only unit is bonegrinders.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Very limited.

Competitive - go gators more options and a better fit.

Stupid fun - go hogs just fun.

While the Trollbloods may have the physical simulatorities, Pigs are the spiritual Orks of Warmachine.

Also Skorne does minions very well. If there is a particular unit that you like from minions Skorne's got a model that can make them better.

Gator lists have changed a bit with the release of the Battle Engine. It definitely can change the way a lot of lists play for Gators.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!
