So after a lengthy hiatus from Fantasy, I'm thinking of making a return to my Lizardmen. Now, I can already hear a lot of you saying "wait, there's a new edition right around the corner" and "tough luck, Lizardmen might be gone soon." Well, to heck with that, I want to get some games in (probably with proxies) before the new edition hits.

Also please note that this is my first time touching the current Lizardmen book, so be warned, this list might be pretty heinous.

Slann Mage-Priest- BSB, Skavenpelt Banner, Focus of Mystery, Soul of Stone, High Magic or Lore of Light- 450
Scar-Veteran- Carnosaur, Sword of Strife, light armour, Charmed Shield, Potion of Foolhardiness- 356
Skink Priest- level 2, Dispel Scroll, Lore of Beasts- 125

LoNC! Long time

My in game experience with Lizards is pretty minimal, but some thoughts if you like:

*Think you can do better on scar-vet's weapon / gear. I still prefer great weapon over most magical options, though Sword of Anti-Heroes has become more and more useful as the meta has evolved, thanks to even more deathstars and characters in general. I've gone great weapon + armor of fortune for a cheapish build that works pretty well. Works with high S carno well, vs extra S5. Piranha Blade might be a thought to match the big dino's multi-wounder.

*So many saurus! I like. Shields are better than spears + shields now, unlike last go 'round.

*I think the go to on skink skirmishers is now javs + shields, due to all the negatives to BS shooting in 8E. Either way, I feel like you're missing a unit of them, 2x 10 would be better for chaff and everything else.

*Generally I warn against putting flaming banner on infantry blocks that are good at fighting. You'll have trouble getting to gripes with the regen things you want to kill, but can be easily messed with by fast characters with fire wards.

As for High or Light, both make sense with this combat-style lizard list (as opposed to the usual avoidance-style shooting/magic list). Light is extremely prevalent in the meta as well due to its anti-daemon / small high-value target abilities.

Focus of Mastery on the Slann is exclusively for High Magic... you can't pick Loremaster of another lore like the old book. So, looks like you're going High Magic. Personally I quite like it as I think it has an amazing lore attribute as well as two great signature spells. High Magic has all the tools you need to deal with any army, but you can also tailor your spells to your opponent with the lore attribute.

Outside of that it doesn't look horrible. Ripperdactyls are pretty nasty if you go for the right targets (and Hand of Glory makes them obscene)

Spears are debatable. I use them because my Saurus block is there to be an anvil so I rarely charge with them. Also my local group decided predatory fighter does benefit supporting ranks (although this is by no means the only interpretation of that rule) so spears end up working slightly better for me. However some groups go the other way on predatory fighter in which case hand weapon + shield is better. Try one unit of each and see how it goes with the proxies I guess. You can also give them a 6+ ward save with an Engine of the Gods.

I agree with Boss Salvage, and the Standard of Discipline is a good choice for Temple Guard, making the Slann LD 10.
