Hello all,

Just been looking through the new Codex on battlescribe and 'Cypher' popped up, did a little research and seems interesting.

If he joined my army, would he benefit from chapter tactics?

Thanks.

No as he does not have the "Chapter Tactics" special rule.

No, infact he also makes the squad he join not be affected by chapter tactics.

Read the description for chapter tactics and it says if someone without the same tactics joins, nobody gets tactics.

Hmm interesting. Thank you for the clarification.

No, it doesn't. This is what it says:

All models drawn from a given Chapter benefit from that Chapter’s Chapter Tactics rules, as described below. The rules will often refer to a model, character or unit by its Chapter; in all cases, this refers to a model, character or unit with the Chapter Tactics special rule that is drawn from the given Chapter. If a unit contains models drawn from two different Chapters, it counts as from neither Chapter, and thus benefits from neither Chapter Tactic.

A model without the 'Chapter Tactics' rule will not cause a unit to lose their Chapter Tactics. Its only if they have different Chapter Tactics than the unit that they're joined to.

Because he surrendered to the Dark Angels and isn't around stirring up The Fallen right now.

For a serious answer, that's a good question as CSM is probably the most common army to use him. For someone with a fluff based sense of humor, I'd laugh at him leading an Alpha Legion war band.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

Because Cypher doesn't lead. He shows up, generally causes his allies to get nuked by Dark Angels, and then flips his skirt up and runs away.

That said, he's a lot of fun to throw in an army as a "Free" hq slot and especially in a CSM army since he has ATSKNF.

Look in the no force org slot above HQ, he is selectable there

It would be cool to see him rejoin the dark Angels either by surrendering and being exonerated or just by blending into their ranks and having them none the wiser

I'd love to see him start hanging with Alpha Legion. The guy who may or may not be a traitor but everyone thinks he might be, hanging with a legion that may or may not have turned traitor but everyone thinks they have.

He's over here right next to my mace, perhaps you'd love to meet him (and my mace). I totally won't club you over the head or anything...
