Honestly know I shouldn't do this but I'm pretty curious. Looking to run a Necron list that utilizes a good amount of their awesome characters and doesn't use any of those nasty looking destroyers. If anyone has any lists that come to mind, I'd love to see them.

Destroyers aren't OP man. They're good, but without the ability to ignore cover, they're really just the dedicated AT available to Necrons. They are good at that tho.

Anyway, by all means you can build a lot of lists, including competitive ones without Destroyers.

As for characters, Zandrekh and Orikan are the most competitive. Although it sounds like that's not really your primary concern.

Yeah I mean being competitive is important but not the most important. More so looking for things are fun to play and look cool.

Here is a quick way to add a bunch of named HQ's into a list:

CAD + Royal Court Formation

CAD

HQ 1 - Anrakyr
HQ 2 - Trazyn
Elite 1 - Lychguard x10 with swords and shields
Elite 2 - Lychguard x10 with swords and shields
Troop 1 - Warriors x10 with ghost ark
Troop 2 - Warriors x10 with ghost ark

Royal Court

Overlord - Zahndrekh
Cryptek - Szeras
Cryptek - Orikan
Lord - Obyron

Totals - 1860pts

So, you put Zahn, Szeras and Anrakyr with one Lychguard squad, and you put Obyron, Orikan and Trazyn with the other Lychguard squad. In essence, giving you 2 deathstar style squads that have a whole bunch of fancy shinangians with all of the special characters and their rules.

Put Orikan, Obyron and Zahndrek in the lychguard unit for a 2+ (re-roll 1's), 3++ (re-roll 1's), 4+ RP (re-roll 1's). You have access to an MC, 2+ saves, AP2 (warscythe/MC)... Last game I played, that unit lost maybe one model?

Use the deathstar for board control and the MSU mobile units to grab objectives. The list above with two stars isn't mobile enough.

what is a deathstar?

Sorry - a deathstar is an expensive unit, usually of characters etc. Usually tough to kill, and reasonably killy, but a significant points investment.
