Hey all, this is a tournament list I've been kicking around. I'm wondering if this list has any major flaws. I realize that the Harlequin detachment isn't the best use of points, but I REALLY want to have a troupe of harlequins for the army's paint theme.

Eldar: Craftworlds CAD

HQ

Autarch (125)
- Banshee Mask
- Fusion Gun
- Shard of Anaris

Elites

Fire Dragons (120)
- 4x Fire Dragons
- Fire Dragon Exarch (Fusion Gun, Melta Bombs)

Fire Dragons (120)
- 4x Fire Dragons
- Fire Dragon Exarch (Fusion Gun, Melta Bombs)

Troops

Guardian Defenders (120)
- 10x Guardian
- Platform with EML

Windriders (189)
- 7x Windrider with SL

Fast Attack

Crimson Hunter (160)
- Exarch
- Two BL

Swooping Hawks (106)
- 5x Swooping Hawks
- Swooping Hawk Exarch

Wave Serpeant (140)
- Holo-fields
- Shurikan Cannon
- TL Bright Lances

Heavy Support

Dark Reapers (125)
- 5x Dark Reapers

Falcons (450)
- Falcon (Holo-fields, shuriken cannon, shuriken cannon)
- Falcon (Holo-fields, shuriken cannon, shuriken cannon)
- Falcon (Holo-fields, shuriken cannon, shuriken cannon)

Eldar: Harlequins Fomation Detachment (Cast of Players)

Death Jester (60)
- Stock

Shadowseer (100)- ML 2
- Mask of Secrets

Troupe (183)- 4x Players (stock)
- 4x Players (w/embrace)
- Troupe Master (w/caress)

1998/2000

So the strategy is to sit the guardians in terrain on an objective and use the EML to help thin out troops or take shots at the occasional flyer. The Windriders are there to harass units and protect the Wave Serpent (either by shooting at units or charging them in dire circumstances). In the Wave Serpent you have the Death Jester, Shadowseer, Troupe, and Autarch. This unit should be able to thin out hordes. They will ideally stick away from MEQ units, but their numbers should help if they do get into that situation. With the Mask of Secrets / Death is not Enough, I can either push units away or closer to my mass of clowns, depending on the situation. The Autarch makes the unit fearless and prevents overwatch with the banshee mask. The Autarch also helps with the reserves (three falcons, crimson hunter, swooping hawks).
The Falcons will deepstike and contain the Fire Dragons and the Dark Reapers. The Swooping Hawks will deepstrike as well and provides a lot of versatility and can even help the harlequins by cracking open transports. The Crimson hunter is there for Anti-Air.

I'll admit, I've never played eldar and haven't played much since early 6th edition. Any advice? Will any of this work together?

Thanks!

You know you can't assault with harlequins from inside the wave serpent on the turn you disembark because it is not opened topped right? Also, if you use guardians to hold and sit maybe try to make room for warlocks, similar for the windriders. They will chuck out conceal which makes them 2+ to anything that doesn't ignore cover

Yeah, the harlies will have to wait a turn unfortunately. If the tournament I'm preparing for allowed more than two detachments I might think about a allied DE attachment and a raider to pop them in, but for now the wave serpent will have to do. The thought is that they could maybe use the Mask of Secrets / Death is not Enough combo to scare opponents where ever I need them to go. I'll probably have to make sure they have some nice piece of terrain to hide behind. Might need to use the falcons / aspect warriors / jet bikes as a distraction for when the harlequins come in to clean up a mob of infantry.

Psychic supremacy is something I've definitely worried about. A warlocks are probably my best bet. I'll probably have to squeeze at least one in for the guardians.

Thanks for the response!

This is very similar to a list of mine I love to play only I have a Wraithknight in there instead of getting the large Falcon formation.
The Mask of Secrets/Desth is Not Enough is an awesome trick if somewhat mean, especially if your opponent is unaware of it. If they position their troops too close to the table edge you are within your rights to force their "fall back" in any direction, including off the board! And the rules state that any unit which moves off the board except for Flyers are immediately lost, it doesn't matter which board edge that is. I manage to make a 300+ Deathstar squad of Thunderwolf Cavalry + Wolf Lord + Iron Priest dissappear this way after killing one of their Fenrisian Wolf meat shields :-)

I wouldn't see the benefit of deep striking your Dark Reapers. I have never found them lacking for range and they won't survive assaults so I sit mine way back, usually holding an objective near my board edge and walking them forward as necessary since they won't lose their shooting thanks to Slow and Purposeful rule.

Just to note that the Mask of Secrets already gives your Harlequins fearless, I typically give the Autarch Swooping Hawk wings and have him jump around with the Hawk squad so he doesn't deep strike scatter thanks to the exarch and use his fusion gun to pop rear armour. Great for getting around the ion shield of an Imperial Knight if you have Bright Lances in front and fusion gun behind! If you want to use his Banshee mask to deny overwatch, get him in a position (sky leap a few turns ahead or use his 18" moves) to charge the target first then when the Harlies charge the unit cannot fire overwatch again. Also when it comes to arming your Harlies I usually take 50/50 split between the Embrace and the Kiss. The Embrace is good on the charge but the Kiss can do move damage to a tough squad during combat and when your whole unit has the embrace I have found it difficult to get all of them into Hammer of Wrath base contact. If you have the points spare, go a mix of embraces and caresses to deal with the greatest variety of targets and a Kiss for the Troupe Master to hope for a lucky Instant Death in multi wound challenges.

You say you have never played Eldar before so my advice to you is don't forget to focus on the mission objectives and use your advantage as the most mobile force available to day to score from across the board (hurray for turbo boosting Jetbikes!). Eldar die quickly if positioned poorly so use cover and stay out of LoS as much as possible. If you are going to take the fight to your opponent then expect casualties! I have won many games with only a handful of models left on the table. Never EVER forget to use Battle Focus. The ability to shoot then run into cover or away from charging range is crucial with the short range of Eldar firepower.
Hope that is helpful, good luck in the tournament!
