C'mon, man. I can't say that I like either list.
I don't know what models you have to choose from, so if you have to mix a knight into the Nids to make points or stay remotely competitive, then I understand.
Don't you have any models that play to the Nid's strengths? The formations are good, but it seems like a bunch of flyrants (and everything else that is cheap and effective in the Nids, and the knight if you were inclined) would chew your lists apart.
I can't tell if you are trying to be that guy or if you just have a very limited range of models to choose from.
If you are the latter, then rock on. we've all been there. Play with what you have and show no mercy!
If you are the former, then you are missing out on a few Nid units that are must-have and quite devastating, especially in 1K games.
If I were a Nid player (which I am) going to a tourney @1K which allows unbound (which I'm not), I might bring a knight, but I will definitely be bringing as many flyrants w/ twl devs w/esgs as I could fit in the list (mawlocks, and other fun, cheap stuff as well).
I'm in a purist phase right now, so if I were at the tourney with my current army, it would be all Nids, but on the whole, I really don't have a problem with Nids shoring up their weaknesses with clever allying, such as a knight. I've been thinking of adding one to my list, just not for any game that is even remotely friendly.
Then again, there's a lot of units out there that can effectively knock the big boys down. But maybe they might be an effective distraction and fire platform (while it lives) in a Nid army.
Good luck!
