Using the models you have, here are some tactics:
Chaos lord - give him the axe of korlath so when he dies he turns into a bloodthirster...if you get 7 blood tithe points turn him into a demon prince that keeps the axe which can be used again AND a bloodthirster pops out of the axe
Chaos space marines - run them with 2 meltaguns in a rhino (people will tell you they're not good but I still run them and they are fun)
Cultists - run them as min squads of 8 these guys are great for dying and getting more blood points - if you can get the champion into a fight and die in a challenge even better - you will usually wind up with a point for that and another point for the unit getting wiped
Chaos terminators - run them in groups of 3 with combi meltas and deep strike them (again not top tier unit but fun)
Bloodthirster - either keep him to summon, or if your opponent has a lot of super heavies use insensate (D-thirster), I prefer running him as a wrath of khorne thirster these days because he can fly and stay safe for the first couple turns and use whip/vector strike/fire breath and still do a lot of damage while flying
Again YMMV but I love the Blood Host Detachment for the extra blood point each turn and the fact that the slaughtercult gets an ADDITIONAL result on the blood table - so for this you will need 5 posessed. If you run the slaughtercult put as many guys into it as you can so they benefit from the extra result.
And of course eventually get lots of khorne hounds - if you want cheap ones get the warhammer fantasy chaos warhounds (10 per box for cheap)
