Well, I figured this would be good for now because of the fact that Christmas is in a month, so it might be a good time to post something like this for the families/ other half of warhammer players. This is to answer one question, what do you (warhammer player) want for christmas/birthday/whatever?
1. Transports:
For multiple armies (SM/BA/GK/SW/DA, Tau, IG) many different vehicles are built off of the same chassis. For example, the Space Marine armory (and Blood Angels, and Space Wolves, etc.) has most of their vehicles based off of the Rhino chassis. In my own opinion, you can never have enough of these to build new tanks or to just have another useful transport. This is slightly less useful for other armies however (Daemons, Tyranids) so for that reason it is one option.
2. Troop Choice + Elite box:
The reason you would give someone this kind of combo (example: Tac squad + Sternguard) Allows people to build more of an advanced unit than they could for less, and still end up with more models. With a little ingenuity, you can make 15 sternguard from the listed example, which would normally cost about $150 for about $90. However, this may also be a little less effective for some armies (Tau, Tyranids) so there are more options
3. Blister Pack:
First, what is a blister pack? It is a small plastic container with a single model inside, normally an HQ choice (example: Space Marine Librarian, Ork Painboy, Eldar Farseer) . These are almost always a useful little addition to an army, and are often fun looking models to boot. These are also some of the cheaper options for people, being normally between $15-$25. Sometimes, players can get overwhelmed with HQ choices, and never play certain options (I happen to have 8 HQ choices for my Space Marines), so for that reason there is the final option.
4. Listen:
One of the best ways to find what they want is ask how their army is doing. Normally, they will say what units they want to add to their army. Also, asking what projects they want to do for modelling (if they like that) can also give you an insight into what to give them.
All of the above options are great ways to help out the warhammer player in your life. Some of these may just be the opinion of one player, but they seem like good ideas for all players. Thank you for reading.
