I have been trying to get into Privateer Press HORDES for years now. I no longer play War Hammer AKA Age of Simar or WM 40K . My issue is I can't seem to get really interested in one of the current factions. I understand that MK3 is going to be released soon. Which may give me the kick in the butt I need to get started. I have also heard that Hordes will be getting a new faction. Does anyone know what this new faction is yet? I have read rumors online that it may be the ZU or a GAINTS faction. I've even read about another DRAGON faction. Does anyone know who the faction might be or when they will be released?

Can you cite your source on this "new faction"?

Otherwise, this really should be in the general discussion forum.

There is a new Hordes faction, it's being teased at Lock and Load this year, and then released at Lock and Load next year. I don't know which of them said it but that's from Privateer Press staff on the official forum.

OK, interesting.

But really, this should be in general discussion.

Neither.

It's the infernals.

Zu is a shout. Personally I think there is an extremely good case for infernals.

We shall see.

That is what I recall gearing as well. A new hordes faction has been promised.

Giants are probably right out. Given their scale, having nothing but huge-based infantry who can beat up actual dragons is... unlikely.

Zu and Infernals are the obvious choices (which implies a big nope, but I remain hopeful), especially as Privateer has said that the new faction will be a repository for "all the weird stuff."

Totem hunters are fa:1, and no longer fa:c.

With a quote from hungerford : 'what does that mean? Probably nothing.'

Are they teasing?

Ah... hope it's not Totem Hunters. That's like GW's Necrons like, which started as just an homage to Terminator...

Zu was mentioned a disproportionately large number of times in the big MKIII announcement podcast. Would be my guess.

Surely you mean fantasy predator? Heck, the totem hunter 'green' started life with a face that was the same as the predator 'mask', it got altered from that point. It's in one of the very first no quarters.

And what's wrong with something being an homage to some pulp fiction? You've got plenty of that going on in WMH.

Zu was mention a lot because the factions have all added trading territory in Zu. Likewise, Trolls have relocated to the Alchiere subcontinent. Nobody is staying strictly in Western Immorren anymore, too much map to explore.

If memory serves, either Soles or Seacat said that the next faction was created out of single sentence reference from the old IKRPG World Guide for 3.5. People have brought up the cannibalistic sea cult that worships a shark god that is similar to the devourer, among other options.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I would argue that those elements would be added in to facilitate conflict with the new faction.

Very interesting info about the Genesis of the new race. You've got me digging out that fantastic book again. (Which is always a welcome diversion)

I was just about to do that...eventually.

It will be great to see some fresh meat for Hordes.

That sounds unbelievably awesome. I doubt it'll be that, but I would love it if it was.

Which could just as easily be a one or two word throwaway to the name of one of the orders of infernals, rather than 'infernals' as a faction (kind of like how 'humans' isn't a faction.

I remember the cannibslistic sea cult fluff. I don't think there is much there to be honest. It was a story with morvahna. The sea cult were Tharn that lived on/near the cryxians islands and who 'hulked out' slightly differently to regular tharn (they could swim). The shark God could easily be one of the children of the devourer. Or merely as aspect of its nature, like kossk.

I concur. It'd make sense that if you were going to introduce a new faction that all the other factions should be getting closer.

But it's never a lock. It could be just a reason to fight somewhere other than Thornwood all the time. LOL

Agreed on the Shark cult, it was just one of the things people found.

And specifically, because the Nonokronian (sp?) Order, or that faction of Infernals, came up more than once. I could be incorrect, but Infernals may definitely be an option. I'd assume it would be a more terrestrial faction that is perhaps attached to the Infernals is more likely.
