Ok, so I've got the rule book, some planes, a large hex map, dice, record sheets ready to print....

are there any other player aids, reference cards or anything else I might use to help three totally new players get to grips with the basic rules quickly?

any advice welcome, thanks.

you'll need some marker to show planes that have taken an engine or structure hit. Most people use a black and white pipe cleaner or cotton ball to show these. Fights on make makers, but they are easy to make yourself. For your first battle start with a small scenario where each of you have just a few planes. You can cut scenarios in half size-wise if need be. Good Luck

Good thinking. I have pipe cleaners so that's good. Thanks for the heads up.

Though I could make paper comic book kablamo! Signs and stick them in between the magnets of the stands and aircraft! Pipe cleaner smoke trails are prob better though.

I'm going for a very simple game. Set in 1940 Maybe four Hurricanes being bounced by two bf-109s with one Vet pilot on each side. Could go either way.

I'll save the bombers and formations and maybe even the spotting rules for another day.

Got D10s and D4s for attacking and I can print a move chart B for each player and even blank out speed 5 since they're both B4 aircraft. Then I'll have the reference sheets... And some nicely painted minis of course.

I'm not a natural GM really, I've not introduced a game to my group before so this'll be a first. I'm just hoping it goes smoothly so they'll want to play again.

Just had that first game. Went down well, the pipe cleaners worked a treat, thanks. Here's a wee phone pic of some of the action.
