I had little interest in collecting a death watch army until I saw this beauty. In my opinion it's probably the best looking Imperial flier discounting FW models and unlike so many other fliers actually seems worth its points. I do have one question though, the picture of the model has what looks like six heavy bolters on top but every report I've seen mentions only the Assault cannons and missiles? Can anyone confirm what it can be armed with?

Pretty sure that's the Hurricane Bolter option.

Two great flyers released in such a time. One for each faction I like. Ugh why you got to go by so fast time.

The new Barracuda is insane. Couple it with DFTS and you have one seriously broken model to spam. Which is probably the top dog now (if not it's in the top three). The Corvus makes the top 10 somewhere easily though in my eyes.

I think that the Valkyrie is much better looking model - but that's subjective. Also that was back the Marines used Thunderhawks (another great model) and atmospheric and void flyers were mainly the preserve of the Imperial Navy

I need to see the Corvus in the flesh but at the moment its not doing it for me - its not as terrible as the other GW marine flyers - I just wish they had made the StormEagle in plastic - much nice model imo

It's funny how different opinions can be. Everyone hates the Centurions, I love the way they look. One of the most badass models in the game. You love this flying container with random wings stuck to it, and that's just peachy.

The aesthetics remind me of an F117 stealth fighter.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I have to wonder, in light of all the praise this design has received, if the praise is due to GW gradually conditioning folks' aesthetic judgment RE: fliers over the years. To my eyes, it's another brick. Now, I like it - but I have never really objected to flying bricks in 40k.

I dunno.

I still think that Space wolf flier, the storm Raven, and the Caestus Assault Ram are silly looking.

Maybe thats why I like the Corvus and the thunderbolt. Just by comparing "reasonable" designs to the silly ones.

A lot of GW's flyer designs don't do it for me, but I like the new Corvus. I've always loved the Thunderbolt, because it looks like a flying muscle car to me.

It's got the Valk-like wings, engine and twin-tail in a relatively balanced configuration. It's less brick than the SM stuff, nor the Valk cargo hull. It looks a bit like a lifting body with stubs.

If I finish what's on my plate, I may well get one.

It's fatter than I'd like it to be, but me and my friends have agreed that the Corvus is what the Storm Raven SHOULD have looked like.

This was my thought as well. The Thunderhawk fluff was that it was a dogfighter, assault transport, bomber, and anti-cap ship all in one.

I'm surprised they didn't just make a plastic kit of that.

That said, I think the Corvus is the best looking non-canonical flyer that's caught my eye.

Pretty much this.

Most of GW's Space Marine flyers to date, it's like they've designed from the front backwards, got to the tail and said 'Crap, that's not going to fit on the sprue...' and chibified it to fit.

This is still chunky, but is far less cartoony and more 'blocky scifi dropship'.

I still hate the Storm Talon, and the Storm Raven is silly looking... But aside from GW's continued insistence on putting short-ranged weaponry on the roof of flyers in a predominantly-ground combat game (which in this case is at least an optional upgrade) I love this flyer with almost all of my body parts.

Yup, total coincidence. GW have stated in a court of law that outside influences play no part in their design process, it's all entirely from their designers' heads. So any resemblance to drop ships living or otherwise is clearly entirely coincidental.

I quite like it. If you don't think of it as an plane and more of a transport chopper it looks very nice. I see it as a sortof black hawk. Designed as a way to extract a killteam once its done it's mission.

That flyer is sexy and it's something I've always wanted, mainly for the assault rule.

My dreams of running an inquisition detachment with crusaders led by Hector rex coming in hot in a pimping flyer may now come to fruitation. (Without the FAQ stuff anyway...)

I will be getting a small Deathwatch force only for the flyer, and Watch Commander. haha!

I'm getting it and running it as my Grey Knight's Storm Raven.

Gonna need to scratch some stuff from the Deathwatch off I presume, but having the Giant Inquisitiorial "I" on the back makes it easier to divert attention.

I like that it's kinda bulky but in a somewhat aerodynamic way. Marines are bulky, and 12 of them plus their gear, and ammo and fuel for the ship take up space.

Oh and another thing: For a flyer of it's class and size, it's actually pretty cheap in terms of money.

It's roughly equivallent to the Storm Raven, Heldrake, Stormwolf, Void Raven and Valkyrie, but it's the same price as the Valk, who's only the cheapest because it was one of the first flyers to be released for 40k.

To be fair, this is only 2 sprues, where the Valk is laid out across 3 sprues. The Valk had to replicate the external resin engines, the door gunners with the articulated guns, the option bitz - that extra sprue is why it was priced like a Land Raider way back when it originally released. Now, those molds are long amortized, so it's cheap for GW. This kit being only 2 sprues is why it's priced the same. If it were 3 sprues, GW would likely charge $85 or more.
