Hi peeps,

I'm new to Flames of War and I am currently putting together a German list.

I'm using the Dog's and Devil's book, specifically I'm building my list using the "362. & 715. Infanterie Division Grenadierkompanie" army list section of the book.

Now in the weapns profiles section of the book it gives details on "assault rifle teams" and their associated stats.
However nowhere in the army list options can I see this as a possible selection.

I have models armed with Stg44 assault rifles but now im unsure if I should be using the in any of my platoons.
Should I be excluding these figures from my teams?
And where will I find German lists that include "assault rifle teams" as an option?

Grenadier Scout Platoon (p66): they are an optional upgrade for +15 points. You can further upgrade a Command Assault Rifle team with a Command Panzerknacker Assault Rifle team for an additional +5 points.

Can't remember if this is an option from Dogs & Devils, but if you can get Tank Riders for your Assault Gun (StuG/Zrinyi) platoon, I believe they are equipped with Assault Rifles as well.

BTW, Dogs & Devils has been superseded by Fortress Italy (Axis) and Road to Rome (Allied) hardbacks. D&D should still be playable, but the hardbacks will have updated points costs and rules.

I don't think using them as models on your bases would be an issue if they weren't armed with them. Its kind of hard to tell who is armed with what at that distance. Just mark the bases of the units that you usually use with the Assault Rifles to differentiate them when you put them on the table. Like one of the camo colors painted along the back side of the base or something like that.

I feel the need, the need for speed.

Thank you! I bought the Open fire set and a few extra kits as well as the rule book when I made my initial purchase, also saw Devils and dogs on the shelf and didnt realize it had been superceded.

I have picked up fortress italy and road to rome on ebay, once they get here I'll have a proper read through and check out the rules for tank riders as well as the reconnaissance platoons.

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated.

All of the lists are still "legal". It's just that the compilation books (which is what "superceded" Dogs and Devils) will have points costs that have been readjusted somewhat due to the rules edition change over.

Just checked Fortress Italy and I didn't see any tank riders/escorts so they might just be in Grey Wolf. Only assault rifle teams available to the Grenadiers are as an upgrade to the Grenadier Scout Platoon.
