So, My primary army is and will always be my Tau. They where my first army back in 5th edition when I started 40k and I love their fluff and models. I have a few other armies but I put them aside for now and is trying to chose a secondary army to build up from the ground, I want to try something new (My other armies are Space Wolves and Necrons) and the armies I'm intrested in are Death Guard (I realy like tough hard to kill units and Death Guard are cool.) Thousand Sons (Love their fluff and backstory, And their new models are awesome) Orks (Much fun army, Good fluff, But I struggle to get in the mood to write a list for them.. Not sure why..) And Eldar (Cool models, Was planning to start them back in 5th edition before I found the Tau. Only picked Tau over Eldar cus I liked the models a bit better, But I still like the Eldar models. They seem a bit evil though, Gameplay wise..)

And so, I struggle to make up my mind about what army to build on..

All of those are good choices for a 4th army. Try Orks if you want a real uphill challenge. Thousand Sons and Death Guard are part of the new hotness, which is always a fun place to be, and they are doing some wonderful things in those armies right now too. Eldar are actually a ton of fun to play with, and if you stick away from spamming anything, they provide a really unique playstyle that just feels good.

Death Guard is pretty much Necron Marines; as you already play Necrons, I'd pass this one.

Orks are very different from your other armies: a horde one. They're pretty bad rules-wise nowadays, so if your meta is quite competitive, don't mess with them. If it's not, them they'll be pretty fun (but expensive and time-consuming)

Thousand Sons is different from all your armies too, but now needing bookkeeping because of so many powers to remember. They're somewhat elite and will have problems with 2+ or hordes. If you get Magnus, then most problems go away.

Eldar is simply the best army around. You'll have to tone down your lists to make it fair with other players.

AI & BFG: / BMG: Mr. Freeze, Deathstroke / Battletech: SR, OWA / HGB: Caprice / Malifaux: Arcanists, Guild, Outcasts / MCP: Mutants / SAGA: Ordensstaat / SW Legion & X-Wing: CIS / WWX: Union

Lets see if I can remember what is being played in my gaming group.. We have Tyranids, Dark Eldar, Crimson Slaughter, Eldar, Deathwatch, Alpha Legion, Ultramarines, Nurgle marines (Home made chapter), Necrons and Orks (But he plays mostly his Necrons these days, The very few times he plays at all. He hasent touched orks in like a year..) Another guy plays Khorne Marines.. And I think we have one other chaos marine player too.. So mostly chaos in my gaming group. There is a few more imperial players, but they mostly only play during apocalypse matches.

Look at other Traitor Legion rules before you make your decision.

Tau is a very long range army, there are a few new legion rules that allow for first turn assaults. You can't get a better contrast than that.

Eldar armies are interesting, but painting them to a decent standard can be taxing. Most of the players I know either have giant armies with rough paint jobs, or tiny ones with great paint jobs.

I can appreciate the comment about Death Guard being the Necrons of the Traitor Legions. While this is not entirely inaccurate, remember they are different and you would not want to play them the same way. You are not going to pull out mindshackle scarabs to tie up someone in combat - nor are you likely to hit the toughest of them. It feels like they can't be hit.

Play orks if you want to play for fun and fun alone you probably wont win unless you talk to your opponent and say lets have a chilled game.

Facts are chains that bind perception and fetter truth. For a man can remake the world if he has a dream and no facts to cloud his mind.

Actually, if you need a little power boost with orks, list tailoring can sometimes compensate a weaker codex somewhat.

I would go Orks, from what you're saying. Orks are less forgiving than Necrons, but are so much fun!

Anyone got any tips for psyching myself for orks and get motivated with them? I have actualy tried them a little bit, And I did quite enjoy them, But i struggle with the list building... I have a hard time getting going with list writing with the orks, Having a hard time figuring out what to bring..

Should my warboss have eavy armour (Dont remember if he can take regular eavy armour or not.. Havent looked in the codex for a while..) Or Mega Armour? Or should he be on a bike..? Should my boys be a couple of large blobs on foot? Or smaller units in trukks? Should I bring shootas or Sluggas? Armour or no armour? Things like that Is truggle with deciding on.. Maybe it is just cus I havent played them much.. But other that that problem, I do enjoy them ^_^

That's not a problem - that's variety.

Warbosses in megarmor or bike are really good, in EA is meh. Blobs on foot are garbage, avoid them completely, everything must have a transport unless is a unit that stays in the backfield shooting (lootas) or sitting on objectives (gretchin). Shootas or sluggas have both their use, i'd go sluggas all the time but some players prefer shootas so it's up to you. If you really want to play orks (and not actually lose every time with orks) you must go MSU. Warbosses in megarmor/bike, painboys on bike/foot, boyz, gretchin, trukks, battlewagon, meganobz, tankbustas, deffkoptas, bikes, lootas, lobbas and kustom mega kannons are the only units that are worthy, especially for someone that is new or quite new to orks. They're very expensive so keep it in mind, but if you want an army that can be completely customized (many different options and the possiblity to scratch build/convert a lot of units) orks are the best choice. They're fun to play but only in very friendly games as a newbie will struggle a lot before learning how to compete with orks. Also in very competitive metas only some orks lists can be played without being tabled in early turns, so they can actually be a lot of fun to play only when you learned how to play them. They're my favourite army so i recommend orks to everyone.

I've had some good results with 30-strong footsloggers lead by a bikerboss and bikerdok alongside trukk bullyboyz. So, it's not entirely right to call out footslogging blobs. A full footslogging army is likely to struggle - speed is very important - especially now when it's easy to encounter something so choppy or/and unkillable that the only way to react is to roll around it. But some elements of footslogging hordes can still be implemented.

Thanks for the tips! ^_^ I dont realy mind loosing (I loose a lot either way.. xD) But it is more fun if the matches are close. But Orks, Orks are just fun. They have awesome fluff and are just an army of fun. My group isent overly competetive though so most things can be used to some effect (My friends chaos cultists even make it into close combat quite often! xD)

Death Guard is strong no matter what you take really. A lot of modeling opportunities. I really love my Death Guard army. Especially when you ally them with daemons. They are also very tanky (especially now).
