The combination of Covid and 2.5 did have an effect on the number of players, for sure. That said, the game is still good and if you can find a local community to play with I think you'll enjoy it. At its heart, X-Wing is still a great spaceship dogfighting game.

I know if I had been playing when they had dropped 2.0 I would've been not happy at all. In 2014 I had been playing 40k for 20+ years and I found x-wing. Shortly after I went thru a brutal divorce. What 40k she didn't destroy I sold off for attorney fees. None of my budding x-wing survived.

Skip ahead to current times and I'm 1 month post op from foot surgery. I decided what the hell, I'll give it a go and here we are. I'm afraid I may be having another surgery in the near future, so finding games will be difficult. I plan on playing against myself until I can get more ambulatory. If I do have another surgery, it'll be a pelvic surgey and it'll definitely be a bit before I can hit my flgs or host any games. But that my not materialize, fingers crossed, lol

Yeah v2.5 is still popular enough as shown by the World's turn out. For me I just didn't enjoy the implementation of adding missions to the game, I like playing a few ace style ships and 3/5 missions that means an auto loss barring a miracle. I also do not like load outs and quick builds (especially when the quick build is just straight out better).
That doesn't mean the game is not fun, its just not for me so I stick to v2.

Are the bases different from 1st edition to 2nd edition?

Small bases (stands) are the same, but huge ships got new bases. [*Medium bases appeared]
Base overlays (square cardboard ship IDs) are different, as they have less info on them.

If you are playing on your own, look for HoTAC. I'm trying to get into it, when I have table space to do so.
I think version 2.07.04 is for v2.

Slight correction there, v 2 added medium bases to the game. Things like the ARC were on small bases in v1 and are now on medium bases. So there are 4 sizes - small, medium, large and huge for the 'epic' ships.

I was planning on storing the extra ship cards on an empty base. I saw a pack of 1st ed. bases and then I thought if I need a replacement base, will these work? Just didn't want to waste cash. Ty for the input!

I just keep all ship tokens and dials in the bags the ship comes with, sorted by ship type. Nice and easy and no expense.

I'm getting a little screw and bolt box. I need to get to a harbor freight store that's near me, but I still can't drive. I've picked it out online, just want to see it in person. That's just for the tokens. I'm borderline ocd,

Edit:
I go to see the doctor that operated on my foot in about an hour. Maybe I can drive soon,

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Walking boot but still no MMA, !!
And no driving until I get the pelvis issue sorted. Ct scan in the afternoon for that. Mark your calenders, I'm sure you all wanted that info.

So. Does anyone know how many.game tokens there are in this game?

Many... Off the top of my head;
Green - Focus, evade, calculate and reinforce.
Orange - Jam, tractor and disarm.
Red - Ion, disarm, lock, strain and stress.
Other - Shield, force, cloak, charges, critical damage, fuses and dozens of different conditions that come with different ships.

That is my carry case.

So basically a metric-crapton of tokens, got it!
I like your kit. Hope to have mine by Sunday. Then to figure out how to load a pic!!

Ok, new round of dumb questions. How do I build a list? I like, kinda, the pre-made roster. Not a bad way to help one along maybe? But when I'm ready to remove the training wheels, what does one do? How do you figure points for lists?
Thanks for more of your time!

Building rules are in the rule books.
AMG has points in their site. Also building guides for 2.5.

Otherwise, there are so many list builders: YASB, etc.

Thanks

I've printed all the reference material intaer linked earlier, including the rulebook. Even tho I had apparently already owned the 2.5. Oops.

On the upgrade points doc, what is standard and extended refer to?

Ok, new freak out for the day. My Tie heavy came out of the box with no pegs for the base and no pin for the movement dial? Any suggestions for replacements? I don't see any medium bases, period. Just the old large and small. I have found some expensive (less than $10usd, but it's 2 little pieces of plastic) options for the dial pins, but the pegs I'm stumped on.

As you say, there are no replacemement medium bases, just 1ed small and large.

I purchased it online, thru Amazon. I just now got it out lastnight and found the missing bits. I'll try a return or spand an arm and leg on Feebay. Ty for the info!

Edit
I reached out to their customer service about just replacing the missing pieces. But it turns out I am still within the return window of when I purchased it, so back it goes.
Thanks again for the links!

Probably a dumb question that I haven't seen covered yet. Does the height of the ship matter? Everything seems base focused, so I don't feel it would? I also shouldn't assume. Just thought it might look interesting to have them a little less cookie cutter.

Ok, sorry for the delay. Took me a minute to screw something up to so I could ask more questions!

Can someone post a pic of the spot where the peg attaches to a tie defender? I snapped mine off, I think I know where it was, but it looks really unstable?

Which leads me the the question of magnets. Anyone use them to mount/dismount your ship and for changing out the ship card? I have a boatload left from my 40k days.

Thanks in advance!
