Ke'lshan's 6th SkyLight Patrol Cadre

Full Army Photo

Commander DartMouth (Aun'Ui Au'Taal Harun) took one last look on his estate, as last Orca Transport was about to take off. He didn't think he will see another warfield again, but the determination to prevent another Tau soul from being hurt got him again.

Leaders of the Contingent

Idea for assembly of this Contingent came from Au'Taal sept, from Commanders DartMouth and FarGaze, but only with integration of Ke'lshans Commanders StarDrop and HeartScare and few others, HQ grown to it's full potential and enabled the Contigent to enter full time service. Here are mentioned all La'Rua'Ui.

Little bit of fluff text

Word of Au'Taal is peaceful, beautiful, a bit lazy but not asleep. It is a hive of minds and influential people from all over the Tau empire. Aun'Ui Au'Taal Harun (later known as Commander DartMouth) had a lot to do during establishment of Au'Taal sept. His biggest success is making acquaintances with people from different castes that were guests of the world. After long years and getting into his senior years, words of sorrow started coming. Some of them moved away to the new worlds, some passed away, some got slain by enemies of the Empire. Nothing that isn't the part of the Galaxy today. But the reason for him to engage into social and 'war' circles was more was sudden and simple. One can never be safe against anything that might peak out of the warp.

During the early days of the second expansion, people of Au'taal were very concerned about Perdus Rift, so they acted. They formed a dedicated patrol group tasked to monitor Xenos activity in this, and neighbouring sectors, called 'SkyLight cadre', first of which was known by the Commander FarGaze. Idea behind SkyLight cadre is to be orbital patrol force, that jumps between adjacent planets and makes constant searches, looking for any possible alien that might have came thru the Perdus.

Establishment of Ke'lshan sept provided a cover for Au'taal. With no further need for SkyLight cadre, it was dismembered and it's elements transferred to other cadres. By that time, Comm. FarGaze was retired due to almost mortal wound that took away his hand. But, in the upcoming centuries, Ke'lshan took all the weight and suffered heavily from the deprivations of many alien races, perhaps even chaos daemons. Over the ages, Tau Empire fortified checkpoints and established fleet patrols that keep this area heavily monitored.

Comm.FarGaze was requested to put his combat armor once again and bring his knowledge and expertise under the Ke'lshans Orbital Surveillance system and provide critical support and experience in dealing with Tyranid hives. With the growth of Ke'lshan and it constant demand for improvement, SkyLight cadre was reinstated and became the most frequent formation that Tau septs field, when it comes to patrolling the local star systems. Right now, Ke'lshan sept counts 18 patrol groups, that rely on scouting, drones, experimental suits and weapons and experienced veterans to maintain Tyranid and Chaos infestation at bay.

In order to provide more stealth in approach and added surprise factor, the revitalization of SkyLight Cadres was given to no one else than Fio’O Ke’lshan Sho’Aun. He replaced all power cells with with new battery system that makes armor flicker and on the verge of being stealth. All armor plates, weapon lines and shields are code colored. That way, their ships can fly overhead almost not being distinguished from the light from Perdus drift, or other parts of space for that matter. With finishing touches, the Cadre grew over it's original size and became a Contingent!

Aun'Ui Au'Taal Harun is now part of 6th Patrol Contingent and enjoys every moment of his battle for the Greater Good.

Why I Started This Army

Like majority of beginners in 40K, I had my doubts between Necrons and Tau. I wanted to have a head start by buying a preowned army on Ebay. I already had both Tau and Necron codices, but was unsure what I would like. (eventually both :D ) A great Necron army slipped right out of my hands due to me not knowing how to bid (sniping, automatic bids etc.), but then along the way a Tau army came. Few offers, but this one had the models I had and was in state that game me a chance to build it the way I want.

After a lot of troubles with Ebay (it just didn't want to accept the shipping address, then payment methods, than bid expired, what ever... :D) seller and I got it sorted, and the army came in. Everything after that is history, as seen in this blog right here. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/657018.page

Army List

I do not have a definite army list, as the amount points my current army can field is about 3 times over any game I'll play. But I'm working on my own, hand written tome of Tau Tactica, which will hopefully make a impression on my opponents that keep their army lists on tablets or phones. Here is the current lineup of Skylight Patrol Contingent:
