MINECRAFT CASTLE DEFENCE GAME

So we're setting up a castle defence/siege-type game on the dakkadakka minecraft server. Here is (hopefully) everything you need to know:

Where is it? the portal is situated quite a way away from everything, really. if you go to the sanctuary portal (following the stone path) and stop as soon as you enter the railway area. On your left there is a ladder either going up towards the manor path and down, going to merlin74's temple of chaos. Go down the stairs, and keep going, following the sign to the castle defence portals. There is only one portal at the moment, but there will be a second one coming out at the attacker's base.

How do you win? the attacker's objective is to storm the castle, grab the flint and steel from the chest in the centre of the castle, take it all the way back to thier base, and lighting the netherrack situated on the roof. The defenders must not let that happen, and hold off the attackers for a certain amount of time (time will be decided after a couple of test runs, basing the test runs on five minutes)

When? Keep an eye on the "minecraft" thread in the video games section. There will be a set time and day posted by either RaptorsTallon, Laodamia or Shrike.

What are the rules? There are certain roles for both the attacking and defending teams. The attacking team gets the following loadout: 1x general. Equipped with an iron or diamond sword provided by the user, he/she is the leader of the attacking team. 2x troopers. Equipped with a stone sword provided by the chests in the "armoury" of thier base, they are the regular footsloggers of the team. these are the bare minimum roles in the team. The following are added on in consecutive order, as more people join each team: 1x demolitions expert. Equipped with 8 TNT and a wooden sword provided by the armoury, it's his/her job to blow a hole in the castle wall, allowing access for thier team. 1x sapper. Equipped with a stone pick and shovel and a wooden sword provided by the armoury, it's his/her job to dig a tunnel through, around or under the castle wall. 1x tank. Equipped with leather/iron armour provided by the user, and a wooden sword, it is his/her job to barge thier way through with brute force, or simply act as a meatshield for thier team. 1x medic. Equipped with a wooden sword and med-packs (mushroom stew), it's his/her job to keep the team alive and well.

the defending team gets the following loadout: 1x general. Equipped with an iron or diamond sword provided by the user, he/she is the leader of the attacking team. 2x troopers. Equipped with a stone sword provided by the chests in the "armoury" of the castle, they are the regular footsloggers of the team. these are the bare minimum roles in the team. The following are added on in consecutive order, as more people join each team: 1x engineer. Equipped with 2 stacks of cobblestone provided by the armoury, it is his/her job to patch any holes made by enemy demolitions or sappers. You only have those two stacks for the whole game, however, so use them sparingly and only carry a couple of dozen at a time. 2x archers. Equipped with a bow, 2 stacks of arrows and a wooden sword provided by the castle armoury, it is thier job to pick off enemy attackers from range. 1x medic. Equipped with a wooden sword and med-packs (mushroom stew) provided by the castle armoury, it's his/her job to keep the team alive and well.

What if there are more than 7 players per team? then any following members become troopers.

What if there are uneven players? then the attackers get the extra member.

How do we choose teams? the leaders take turns in picking who they want, and later what roles they have.

What's to stop cheaters? Sometimes there will be referees at the castle, clearly designated as such. Any killing of the referees will result in summary execution and/or a trip to the sin bin. If there are no referees, or if the referee is not there, please report the offender with either a second eye witness or clear evidence.

What if the flint and steel is lost/destroyed while being captured? There will be several in the castle's chest.
