guynamedFleck's Attilian IG

Full Army Photo

With the up and coming release of the IG Codex, I decided to bite the bullet (and quit my griping about heavy weapon bases) and set about re-basing the entire army. The army is centered around the Attilian Guard. Originally They were all based the old fashioned way, but I didn't like how they looked on the board (who wages wars over clean grass fields anymore?). Anyway, after several variations, I eventually settled on a very simple but effective industrial base. So, I guess the Attilians have moved into a spire. Now on to what you came here to see. I've tried to only take pictures of the fully (or mostly fully) painted army. There is plenty more that will eventually find its way to the painting table and then I'll update this page. Hope you like my army...

The first three psychers.

First Platoon - Attilians

Second Platoon - Trenchers

Someone didn't wipe their feet when getting their new base, tisk tisk

Third Platoon - Mixed Cadian and Tallaren.

Attilian Storm Troopers. aka: the suicide squad (no one tells them the only guys with ammo are the two meltaguns)

Ratlings. Sadly still awaiting their new bases.

Servitors. Aiding the techpriests since '96

Mortar Team. These guys got a bit of a revamp along with the new bases. Some still need a second crewman.

Ogryn. These were actually painted be another guy at my FLGS, a real talent.

Rough Riders. And well, if you're gonna convert Catachan into Attilian, you sure as heck better convert Catachan into rough riders. Yet ironically I only have the two painted (and I think they're going to get a repaint soon).

Why I Started This Army

So If you haven't figured it out, my Attilian are mainly converted over from Catachan plastics. There were just such an abundance of IG players who bought Catachan and refused to use the figures since they were so out of proportion. A quick green stuff hat and riding jacket later, and instant Attilian. I was kind of put off by the number of Cadian armies popping up (and I didn't really care for the look of them), but their were nice elements to the plastics. So I picked up a few and melded them with the Catachan and Bretonnian kits to create the Storm Troopers and Trenchers. It really helps to tie the whole army together (plus I get to use all the coolest models). The defense lasers ensure these guys are the only side calling down orbital strikes in Apocalypse battles. They also give a little job security to some old friends that are horizontally challanged - it takes some solid gunners to man 8 twin-linked heavy bolters and the Emporer's boomguns...
