Apparently they are going to "show" the following:
Quote from website:
That’s right guys… Tonight’s show is all about the new… wait for it… Space Marine Stormtalon… the Necron Doom & Night Scythes… plus the new Ork Biltza-Bommer, Dakkajet and Burna-Bommer! and we expect these bad boys to hit the shelves, perhaps around June 2nd?
I'll wait till the show's over and the pics of it are all over the interwebs 5 minutes later gonna be at work anyway, can't watch a video about army men or the boss will get mad :(
H.B.M.C. wrote:BOW is people!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!
Stormtalon?
Well... the Chibi-Hawk had no fuselage, so I can only assume that to maintain balance the Stormtalon will have no wings/engines.
Maybe they will slot together to form one decent mini-Hawk.
I probably won't be home then (9 PM local) so I guess I'll skip the inevitable server crash and accompanying nerdrage and desperation and just check back when the pics appear on Dakka.
Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words, but 60 minutes of BoW video is worth maybe half a paragraph of text.
MMMMM yes right into my veins, dem ork flyers sound mighty FINE. If they look as good as they sound, I will not sell my small ork army but expand upon them.
Pfft what am I saying of course I will be picking up a storm talon anyway and adding 'spikes' to it and zeals for the other black templar pimp my ride special.

Do you guys think this means no possible codex release in June?
Considering that June/July should be 6th edition, yes. But it had nothing to do with these fliers and everything to do with them being busy with 6th edition. There should be a September/October codex, though.

Wait what? It's not an online show? sad panda, very sad panda indeed

I think it might be, I was just asking those who has seen it if it is...like I said, I've only ever watched on the table. From back when it base YouTube based to now, when it's on late night TV

Phew as long as there is something to keep me busy until then
How awesome would it be at the end of the show for BOW to go: "Oh yeah we almost forgot, 6th edition at the end of the month."
Am I missing something? To me, it seems like they're just discussing what has been rumoured/expected for the Summer of Flyers.
We’ll have a “look” at them in more detail and discuss some of the special rules you might expect for such awesome hardware!
Having "look" in speech marks suggests that, actually, we won't be looking at juicy leaked pictures of the flyers, we'll just be talking about them. And "discuss some of the special rules you might expect" sounds like a wishlisting session, where the guys are going to talk about what rules they expect and want to see on the flyers.
Popsicle wrote:I'd be surprised if there were leaked pictures.
Maybe they'll dig out more old box art and analyse that instead, like they did with the old Land Raider art, where they swore they saw a chibihawk flying about.
I am looking forward to this, but I hope part of it is wrong at least. It would anger me quite a bit if the Marines got yet ANOTHER vehicle they don't need and the Crons get BOTH of theirs and yet the Voidraven...which by all accounts has been done since last Summer....still eludes us!
DraconicGuardian wrote:I am looking forward to this, but I hope part of it is wrong at least. It would anger me quite a bit if the Marines got yet ANOTHER vehicle they don't need
Psst.
Only two Marine books can use the Stormraven(Blood Angels and Grey Knights). By all accounts, the Stormtalon is likely to be a Dark Angels piece which is then--per usual--folded into the main Codex...probably with more special rules and better options to boot.
Bitter? Me? Nooooo.

Who says the Voidraven won't be in this release though? The Ork one is likely to be a single box, multikit deal.

You hope other people don't get cool stuff because you aren't getting your cool stuff? You sound awesome.

I think a less infuriating way to think of it is that GW was going to release this flyer for Space Marines and by virtue of being the space marine codex released soonest to the desired release it will benefit from having it included in the codex... as opposed to a couple of pages of WD giving the rules, which is likely for all the flyers.
DraconicGuardian wrote:I guess you missed the FIRST SENTENCE where I said I was looking forward to it..... Good try though.
Nope, I caught it-however, there was, a caveat of "but" which qualifies it as, well, whining. New stuff is always good but people will always complain.
So that's a "no" to a plastic Thunderhawk, and a "yes" to plastic support for the Space Marines getting that much more bloated.
So that's a "no" to an original comment.
I'll stop bemoaning GW's bad decisions when GW stops making them.
The Thunderhawk Gunship would be a release worthy of the 25th anniversary of Warhammer 40,000. Another Stormraven - another Space Marine flyer with zero existing demand and zero presence in the setting - is not.

No. Turn 8 is their live streamed show. You're thinking of Backstage.

It's on at 8pm this evening squire.
If it's just another sketch again I'm going to rage my nips off.
Well basically if they make a news post and title it 40K new flyers uncovered at last, and talk about the release date being in less than a month, and then few hours later once they got all the traffic they wanted prove that they're liars and basically full of it I doubt anyone will ever take anything they say seriously again. If they've done it before though (I've no idea if they have) I'm not sure why this one is even noticed. People should then just ignore the site altogether.
They've certainly had big previews before, so there is a good chance we'll see some pics. Will be interested in seeing what the Ork stuff looks like if they do.

They have a pretty good track record, otherwise, I wouldn't have bothered re-posting it on here. They broke tyranids before anyone else, they were the first to debunk the "leaked" 40 K rules, and despite the hate that they sometimes receive on here "no idea why", they are a proven source of news.
You know, I would really like it someone started keeping tabs on who has a good track record on rumors and how accurate they turn out to be. Like a meta score on 40K rumor mongering. People seem to forget how wrong or right people are later.
I think this kinda cool.I was looking forward to last years rumor of fliers. The only bad thing is that their will be no Thunderbolt for now.But it is nice to see the Necrons this time around getting some love. Also the TAu need some flier love too.The Marine is probably another hawk flier,This time it does sound a litttle bit Ravenwingish. Also it would be cool to for it to used for Deaathwing Terminators.Well in hope this summer turns out good for 40k players.Since i myself quit playing after 20 yrs.I may eventually dust of my 40k models and play again if this new edition is any good.I guess i am wierd i prefered the past two editions too this current one and also how i thought the codexs started good then went into the toliet. But the latest Imperial guard codex in my opinion is the best one ade for this current edition. well that is my two cents.

As a guy who is just waiting to ship 500€ GW's way on Necron models, depending on whether they are capable of releasing the Scythe kit or not, I'm really aching for this stuff to be true. It's just funny how little actual GW employees and managers (even regional bosses) know these days, so I'm also pretty interested in who is leaking BoW any or all information that they in turn pass on to the frenzied mob.
Aye, I don't get the 'secrecy is great' thing and probably never will.
I've got about £200-300 ready to go on 6th edition limited stuff, because regardless of the lack of any signs to the positive, we are all pretty sure it'll hit in July.
Why GW doesn't confirm that, let folks bubble with excitement, spread the word, get ready for the change in a positive manner, rather than surprise it on us a week before as it seems they currently have planned going on recent releases is beyond me.
I have often wondered the same thing myself. They just kind of busted on the scene about 3 years ago with all this production and video editing equipment, a studio, good bandwith, and a staff.
It wouldn't suprise me at all if GW was completely enamored with them, and started to feed them info at a very high level.
I don't think anyone can question their commitment to the hobby though. These guys, and miniwargaming.com are the 2 sites I point all new players to for both learning the game, and learning to paint.
I have three thoughts on this -
1) If the SM Stormtalon looks more like the Thunderbolt and less like the Storm Hawk or Storm Raven, I will buy three. Otherwise GW gets no SM money for me.
2) If the Ork flyers look decent, this may be the tipping point for me to get moving on an Ork army.
3) All we need is for Blood of Kittens to release their next round of Chaos/6E rumors at the same time and we could make the interweb asplode.
I wonder if the burna bomber will have a napalm type strike, with rules similar to the doom/night scythe weapon. You know the one that shoots a beam ahead of a point and damages all models in the line or something like that, but instead of a laser, its a big a** napalm strike.

well you can count on the new SM flier being based off of at least some of the Chibihawk sprues - sadly - so it'll look at least somewhat like the storm eagle for sure.
Unholy_Martyr wrote:I'm hoping that there's more of a lean towards the Vendetta/Valkyrie Sprue over the Stormraven.
I'm hoping that at some point one of the designers used the internet for five minutes and figured out what an aircraft actually looks like. The vendetta/valk aren't exactly great either.
The Stormtalon is Games Workshop's newest Citadel Finecast upgrade pack. These stunningly cast bitz will transform the already amazing Stormraven into the Emperor's own flying spaghetti monster. Buy now while stocks last.
Aye, well its work blocked for me, so I am just hoping a kind and just Dakkanaut soul will repost all the info back here at some point during the night.
Get home around 10.15pm, so can look for myself then if its a vid, as that will be work blocked as well, even here.. I just see a large empty space where ever a youtube vid should be.
2pm central time is now. http://www.twitch.tv/beastsofwar is their channel on twitch and it seems they haven't started yet.

Yeah, I really need to know the rules for the Night Scythe / Doom Scythe because the vehicles aren't in the codex or anything. I should've known better than get my hopes up.
They apparently "know" these flyers' rules, i wonder if they "know" what 6th edition will mean for flying models too? Would be nice for them to just blow the lid off it and say so.
FFS! No-one cares about all of that tosh (except DzC, put that in another vid!) Get. To. The. Flyers!
This reminds me of the South Park episode where they're waiting to see the new Terance and Philip trailer and have to watch an entire crappy show to see it...
They are pooping on their webcast or trying to hold it in during the show? If one of them is actually trying to hold it in while broadcasting live; I would pay to watch that!

I never said it was true just thought I would throw it out there to see and it would be cool if it is the actual model. Hopefully they get to that section of the show for some more confirmation.
Death By Monkeys wrote:Ugh. How disappointed will I be if the Storm Talon is just a Storm Raven with a new sprue for different weapons?
Four lascannons plus missiles sounds like a pretty good load though.
Come on, Therion - I know you've got a better head for points efficiency than that. Two TL Lascannons, two singles, and missiles? You know that'd cost as much or more than a Land Raider. SM don't need more vehicles on that end of the price range to tie up points.

You never know how these things are priced. Vendetta with gets five heavy weapons, extra armour and a bucketload of special rules for 140 points My point was that if I had to choose I'd rather get four lascannons and optional missiles instead of an assortment of random weapons that have no synergy whatsoever with eachother.

That's a good point - at least there'd be some consistency in your weapon ranges outfitted like that.

Thanks for the screenshot. The scale of it looks good. Not too big, not quite Falcon sized either. The only funny part was when one of the bow dudes said these Scythes are probably not any good because he hasn't seen them at any tournaments. Yeah, people really want to convert five to eight ufo planes to use for half a year before the official models come out.
Is anyone actually surprised? BoW lost any semblance of respectability when they walked away from YouTube in a huff because they couldn't gouge enough money out of their viewers with just advertising.

Rumor Stew! Mmmmmm.
These look promising!
I really like the news of the Ork Flyer, and the Stormtalon.
Ahirman giving D3 units infiltrate? Hopefully it isn’t done after deployment like Possessed do, now! haha
New June 2nd flyers are said to be:
Space Marine Stormtalon
Necron Doom Scythe
Necron Night Scythe
Ork Biltza Bommer/Dakkajet/Burna Bommer
•Here’s the latest Warhammer 40,000 rumor nugget for you Google+ 1%ers…
Ahriman is said to give D3 units Infiltrate in the new Chaos Marine codex (in addition to being a Mastery Level 4 Psyker.

Also wow, the Storm Talon sketch is HIDEOUS.
I think the opposite, I love it. Granted it throws all of the boxy focus of SM design aside so it will look out of place but I think it is gorgeous as a nimble little gunship. It reminds me a lot of the ATACs from Killzone 2, sort of a hummingbird of doom. Rad.
Will be replacing my Landspeeders with it if I am able.
It's a bobble-head gunship. The design is about as gothic as an iPod. It doesn't even fit with the pre-existing Marine skimmers, let alone the broader concept of the Imperial aesthetic.

I didn't catch the cost though.
They didn't say.
I mean, seems to me that you're going to run these with HB/Assault Cannons for the base of 130 pts. Or run them with TL-Las and Typhoon or Skyhammer Missiles for some heftier price - I'm guessing, based on Storm Raven prices that this will clock in around 155-165 pts. It's the points price range that I was hoping for - I need to think about this a minute to compare to other SM options.
Do I remember them saying it was AV 11 all around?
It all seems perfectly tedious to me. If this is a look into 6th edition, I finally have a reason to walk away and scorch the earth behind me. My heart is full of joy.

I think so, but if you use the Howeverstrike ability you can get a +1 to the BS, so they might be more useful then.

Well, I suspect the flyers of Marines and IG, and basically entire Necron and Dark Eldar and Craftworld Eldar armies based on fast vehicles are getting a big buff in 6th edition when all of a sudden these fast vehicles are much harder to hit than before. AV10/11 will be less of a factor if guys need fives or sixes to hit you instead of 3's. If people use Doom Scythes and Vendettas and Venoms now, people will love them when the survivability doubles up.
Lord Scythican wrote:I think so, but if you use the Howeverstrike ability you can get a +1 to the BS, so they might be more useful then.
I'm loathe to say it, but BS5 TL-Las and Missiles (Typhoon or Skyhammer) could be useful.
Are you good at running the numbers for something like this? What kind of to hit/damage ratio would we be looking at for something like a landraider?
Automatically Appended Next Post: BTW are the going to show real pictures eventually? I feel like this isn't going to be a happy ending establishment. If it is only sketches, I would rather go back to painting.
The sketch of the Necron walker turned out to be taken from the boxart/WDpictures (can´t remember what), so I think these are quite genuine, too. The endresult in case of the walker unsurprisingly being better then the sketch.
So, what about the Stormtalon? I kinda like it but I do like the Stormraven as well. Still, not anywhere close to the quality of FW´s Stormeagle. I´ll see what it will do and what the endresult will exactly look like. The mainpoint will be what they can do in the new rules. Not buying stuff like that beforehand. My Marines are complete for the moment anyways.
