Working away, although I am starting from the back and working my way forward. Trying to make the skeleton interesting at present before tackling weathering of the white armour.

Tonight saw several character types & an Onager roll off the assembly line.

Played through my 6th encounter of my Five Parsecs from Home Campaign. Another Stealth Mission was very much a success for the Crew of the Orrel!

Built more Kastalin robots + a Sky Shield Landing Pad.

Yesterday, I played through the 7th encounter of my Five Parsecs campaign.

Built the wyches from the new real space raiders box. Next will be a raider to put them in.

Didn't get as much done as I wanted too this weekend. Mostly building and trying to figure out what to paint first to get my grove back on.

I finally decided to get the last bits together to finish up my Orc and Goblin army.



So I cracked open this box to mix it in with the pile of Black Orcs I've been slowly collecting for the last year. I was really lucky to get a lot that included Borgut Facebeater. He's going to be my Black Orc unit champion.

Now I just got to remember my paint scheme I use for Black Orcs....

Time to build more AdMech stuff for the coming Crusade.

I'm trying to use my Jedi mind powers to will the Canada Post Office to move my bases a little closer to the United States.

I began painting minis after taking a few weeks off due to a bit of burn out working on the Mantic Buildings. I ordered a whole bunch of Unit 9 miniatures off Etsy a few months back from Canada. For some reason, the package got stuck in Auckland Customs for weeks. I didn't mind waiting, but it got a bit ridiculous, so got in touch with NZ Post who told me about it being stuck in Auckland airport and to contact the sender so they can try appeal it. I found I could try it on the Customs site, but when it comes to bureaucratic forms, my brains begin to leak from my ears. I got in contact with the sender, who told me they were going to talk to their local courier, but the place was close. Then, a few days later he sent me a message that he got a notification from NZ Post that it had finally left the airport. Still don't know why/how that happened. My dad has had some bad run ins with NZ customs years back and, of course, theorised it was because of that. But nah I doubt it. Anyway, enough of my rambling here's some photos of a new version of Azakir the main character of my Sci fi novel in his infiltration suit. Quite happy with him so far.

Calling my new Cyberpunk ninja finished after basing him. I played through another Five Parsecs encounter and assembled and primed some JSA miniatures from Infinity.

Playing in a really Meh Daggerheart game this evening

Its so dull...... that I think I'd rather be painting minis.

I reprimed those mentioned JSA minis, dry brushed them, then began base painting and layering a few.

Kitbashed some Mantic Nightstalkers into Wracks for my Dark Eldar. I don't like the buff muscley wracks GW sells, I don't think Dark Eldar would be that bulky, so I used the blank faceplate helmets from the various kits and some spare arms to kitbash the scarecrow zombies from the Nightstalkers Vanguard kit into Wracks. Since I had them, I also put in a couple of other models as the creations of the Haemonculus without modification, and I think they look pretty good all together. I kitbashed the big wraith thing into my Haemonculus and I'm gonna do a 3e style Talos from the spare parts left over from my Dark Eldar army.

Working on my Volkus season terrain ATM. The large buildings and scatter terrrain is built, as well as one sprue's worth of emplacement walls from Brutal/Kunnin and one sprues worth of Tyranid scatter from Typhon.

I liked the Brutal/Kunning emplacements so much that I bought a second box of them, in order to have all four corners for an emplacement in my collection. The STC fences go nicely together with those emplacements as well, even though they are shorter, I can use those as "inner walls" for the emplacement.

Found out today that the next Crusade I'm signed up for is starting much sooner than I'd thought - MONDAY the 20th! I'd thought the plan had been for Nov.1st/2nd
And that each game will be a random size. So the 1st game could be anywhere from 500pts - 2k.

Sooo.... tonight & Sunday I'll be furiously building enough AdMech stuff to have 2k capability as of Monday evening.
(I'm at about 1400 atm).

Made a lot more progress on my JSA dudes pretty much finished highlighting and lowlighting the green on them. Also, photos of my pretty much finished 2nd Azakir in Infiltration suit.

Built my last (for now, I may get one more) venom for my Dark Eldar. Next on the block is kitbashing that Talos. I've got a bunch of DE bits and a horse skeleton that's missing it's head, I think I can get something out of this.

Finished the black parts on my JSA minis and began painting the face and hair of my Ryuken Unit 9 making her pale and with purple hair because she looks so much like Motoko "The Major" Kusanagi, from Ghost in the Shell it isn't funny. I'm trying not to gush about how much I love the Major as a character right now. So I'll finish this post here

I almost finished painting my Ryuken Unit-9 totally not Motoko Kusanagi today.

So continuing on my last post I started working on my Black Orcs. As I always do I grabbed one to use as a test model to try and lock down the colour scheme.
I wanted to keep it simple because I want to bang these guys out as fast as I can. So without further ado...




First Black Orc done! Pretty straight forward, I kept highlights to a minimum just to speed up the process and I decide no damn checkerboard pattern! I did it once, never again.

Now just got to get the rest based and base coated...

Gluing together a Mantic Succubus unit to proxy as Daemonettes.

Today I have two less unpainted models in the collection.
Instead of doing "things I should be getting done"? ---- I instead painted a single Rattling sniper + an electrical fence generator/post (terrain bit from a long ago 40k starter {4e?}).

Had the kid's game day today and we played Grimdark Future 2000pts again. Before that, and after I got home, I almost finished painting my JSA Essentials box and began basing them. Here's my girl "I Can't Believe it's Not Mokoto Kusanagi"!

Four Zombies to paint...just in time for Halloween.

Knocked my minis to the floor due to dropping my phone, and unfortunately my floor is messy so I’ll be hunting for a missing mini all day

I finally have something done!

















(Need to repaint the rim of the bases, just noticed they dont look so hot.)

I began basing my JSA minis and almost finished my Daiyokai Dengekitai, too so my JSA Essentials box is close to done. I also assembled my female ninja from the JSA Expansion box, then primed my bald Ariadna dude who I can't remember the name of, he's going to be one of the crew members of my Five Parsecs crew.

Finished basing the JSA minis and started basing my Daiyokai Dengekitai. I began and almost finished painting my Roger Van Zant from Infinity (I remember his name, now) And glued my female ninja into her base.

Calling my Roger Van Zant done, and he's ready to be the human/K'erin of my Five Parsecs crew The Orray Johnny Keel. I also primed the Cyberpunk Unit 9 minis that were in the pack that included the new version of Azakir in his Infiltration suit. I wanted to play through my next Five Parsecs encounter, but then remembered I needed two specialists with rattleguns so got out my Stargrave sprues and glued two dudes with heavy rifles, put the obligatory milliput on their bases for rocks to make them look a little less short and glued them on. I'm letting the milliput to cure overnight before priming.

Put together 10 Mantic Steel Warriors and an Iron Ancestor.

Steel Warriors look great when finished but the kit is annoying - the torsos don't fit snugly to the legs and the two torso halves are weirdly hard to get to line up. Makes you appreciate the engineering in GW kits.

The Iron Ancestor is PVC, and so it's a pain to put together but he also looks great. I love his chonky design.

I've been painting 6 Breen Warships for my STAW Dominion fleet. 4 were repaints of the wizkids ones'. Two other I bought some 11 years ago from someone in the USA, even built them just a month ago after having them lying around for all that time. It's always good to clear old backlogs like this.

Painting Rattling snipers.

It's a long running joke that my models must earn their paint.
A basecoat & color coding on the rim of the base is free. Beyond that? The units must perform well come game time....

Well, throughout this recent Crusade, my Rattling squads have all been doing quite well.
Blue squad in particular. Today alone Blue killed 3 Necron characters (1 on Overwatch), 1 annihilation barge, & 1 Heavy Destroyer!

Thus it's time to paint them.

I built the entire Galactic Republic Starter Set for new Star Wars Legion.
Obi-Wan, Jedi Guardian, 7 ARF Troopers, 7 ARC Troopers, 22 Clone Trooper Infantry.

I finished painting and almost basing the Stargrave minis for my next Five Parsecs encounter and set up the board for it, too.

5 rattlings finished.
25 more to go....

Finished up some bigger dwarf hero bases for 4th Edition Kings of War.

I spent a lot of time priming. It was really nice outside today.

Played through the 8th Five Parsecs from Home encounter, and what a game! One of my characters Azakir Halgriv from my novel cut his way singlehandedly through six of the nine enemies with his boarding sabre. It was a lot of fun!

So Weather was nice and cool so I base coated more Black Orcs to get to painting sometime this week. Before I worked on them though I thought I'd continue to get more work done refreshing my Chaos Dwarfs.

Most of the models I have are painted well enough, they just need more highlight and washes to help the detail pop. So I started with these.



Two Bolt Throwers down. Got the bases done and for the Bolt Throwers themselves I just washed and drybrushed them to get them to pop more. Somewhat hard to see in this photo but I can assure you, it looks fine.
As for the Hobgoblins themselves, again just a wash and I highlighted the skin and red clothes for more contrast.

Next up is a hero I converted from a Hobgoblin Bloodbowl player. Bought him years ago before GW nuked the specialist games, and subsequently brought them back.



Frotan the Hammerhand! I hacked off his hand and replaced it with an Ogre ironfist that I then painted to look somewhat like stone. The idea being the Chaos Dwarfs used him as an experiment to increase his strength. Basically I load him out with a greatweapon and the Gauntlets of Bazrak the cruel. So he hits at strength 7. Or that's how I used to run him anyway.

So thats what I got done this weekend...now off to get more Orcs painted!

I finally got around to knocking out "Weapon Tokens" for my Stormlord tank this morning.

It has enough guns that if I target multiple units somewhere in all the firing, wounding, etc someone (sometimes me) goes "Wait, what all was going to wich unit?" Especially when the passengers are shooting....

And so 16 spare 20mm bases, sprayed white with the abreviations of the weapons painted on.
LC - lascannon, HB - Heavy Bolter, VMB - Vulcan Mega-Bolter, etc.
And a couple for the units being transported.

Building more forgefathers. They're going together a lot faster than the Dark Eldar!
