i just recently signed up in this comunity and this is my very first thread in here.
=> i'd like to share my space wolves with you.
.
i want to represent the army as one big project in this thread.
.
you'll get pics from ongiong builds, already finished models and maybe even some concepts that i did for future stuff.
.
while working on the army, i'll keep you updated.
...
well but lets start with a group-pic first.
.
and here's what i'm working on at the moment ...
.
wolflord-titan:
-
-
9 warthogs counting as landspeeders
-
-
some tanks to paint ...
-
-
and some termis ... :
-
-
and the dreads ... :
-
-
-
a pretty old dreadconversion:
-
-
here's the LR to transport my greyhunters. it was the first tank i built for this army.:
-
-
ah, the honorable bobpanda. ive been waiting for you to appear here, simply because im not registered in any of the other communities and for some reason i dont visit gw-fanworld anymore, but ive always been admiring your work. ridiculous conversions, especially in the vehicle section.
good thing you signed up at old dakka, i can finally throw heaps of praises onto you.
Very nice painting and converting but please, drop the halo theme, ive seena few people with it and no, its dump as all hell and alot of people i know that collect hate it.
I am seriously loving the LR Picture you have there. I actually dont like, never liked really, the powder blue that SWs are always painted in. I stick to Pre-Heresy Codex Grey for the ultimate killy looking paint scheme.
Awesome and mad conversions. I wish I had more time and money and imagination and skillz. As for the Halo thing , I've never played it so I wouldn't know , I just know your stuff is up there with the best.
Wow! The love you have put into these models is amazing, I think my favorite pics are of the landraider though, with all the people running them now days its really nice to see someone put effort into making it a real part of their army!
yeah! ... thanks for all those kind replies ....
that makes it realy worth it and is also best motivation i can get .... -
a wasn't able to continue, because i was not at home since thursday ...
...
but now, thati'm home again, i continued tp paint the priests LR ...
.
(P.S. Death threats aside, those are aweinspiring. I love the friezes on the tanks - very original. I love the 'hogs as speeders, and I LOVE the Titans.)
ok ..... meanwhile i finished first blue layer on the last LR.
-
-
additional to that i reinforced some of my packs to bring them to max packsize.
.
first somebloodclaws and greyhunters .... :
.
.
and some guardsmen
.
.
.
of course all of those minis are still wip and will get soem detail detail with GS and some accessoires.
.
BobPanda, I've been watching your threads on B&C and really like your titan, amongst other things. Like many, I'm really keen to see the finished beauty!
Your attention to detail (like the dangling cables off on the titan's lower legs, the battle scenes on the Wolflord's raider) and your eye for proportion (like the really cool guns that you do and the great number of crew on the titan) are what make your conversions so awesome. Really, really good work. Please keep it up, and thanks for sharing with us.
holy friggin crap! those are awesome! i REALLY like that mural you have on that one tank. that is the craziest thing ive ever seen on a tank. seriously great job on your army! on a side note i personally hate space wolves because they were the first army i got my ass handed to everytime when i first started out! lol
i continued on my big titan.
i removed the roof and created another floor instead. it canbe reached via the door, from the inside. from there crew can also go to highest balkony right above the titans head.
.
further the other former landingpads are now meant to become pure assaultpads for assaultsquads, crew and equipment. on the highes flor landspeeders will be able to land and refill.
=> i'll add a kind of gas-station on top and a ammodepot. ...
.
This, to me, is what a Space Wolf army should look like. Gritty, but historic. They are the vikings of Space, and, as most of us know, vikings were HUGE story tellers. The Lord's LR is amazing. The inlays on the sides are great, not to mention all of the other details, on everything else that's there. I can't wait to see more, and, dare I say it, possibly some sort of instructional on how to do those inlays.
I've never really thought about Space marines and shields before, but it goes along perfectly with the space wolf fluff(with some added runes of course). Contrary to some other people i really like your warthog conversions, very clean and painted well, as with your entire army.
Extremely good modelling. It's been said, so I won't go on get straight to the questions. I'n still a bit unsure as to what some of the vehicles 'count as', although, the Titan is pretty obviously a LR. What about that latest WiP with the hull-mounted battlecannon-looking thing?

well ... to be honest i'll let them count as what they are ... - of course i don't play tournaments, but just for fun. and in these games winning is second important to background, fun and crazy situations, like heroes bringing a titan to fall, by climbing it, killing all crewmen and than finally installing a bomb inside.
Leone wrote:love your army m8 , can't say i won't make stuff like that for my troops , u've inspired me
where did you get the warthogs ?
So I love your entire army! I really like the world dreadnought thing. That is so amazingly cool. The one thing I would like to know is where do you get those axes?
I am trying to use more than just swords as power weapons in my army as that gets boring, and to uniform for me really fast.
Shall I ask this one first??????
How/what are those cloaks made from?
They are really dynamic and look like they hold their shape well???
Are they fragile, how well do they take paint?

axes: fom the space-wolves acc. sprue.

Thanks for sharing!
they are made from ordinary cottoncloth hardened with extrafluent superglue. don't take to much, cos' the heat might melt your model .... but if you do it right you'll gat a quickt nice cape hard a stone.
i'm using this technique sind 14 years, to create banners, capes, pelts ... almost everything clothlike with structure now and called it RealClothing (rc-ing) ....
the smoother the cloth the easier the painting will be. the rougher the cloth, the eaiser it will be to push and pull it into shape, but with real rough cloth it coule be that you'll need 3~5 layers of paint for a good result.
Not much to say here besides pointing out that this stuff is top notch. I really like all the wolf visuals, like the heads on the dread and titan.
This might be going completely overboard, but I'll throw an idea out there for you anyway. Maybe give your commander some actual wolf pets as little sidekicks, like from the Fantasy range. Or not.

i still have geri and freki somewhere in my inbox ... - for exactly that purpose ...
.
hard to say .... something in between warlord and reaver ... depending on the weapons ...
but normally in the games that i play the points a specific model costs are not so important ...
much more important are things like atmosphere, cool situations, and massive destruction !!! .
when we play it's more like roleplaying than nomaly 40k or apo, otherwise we'd never manage to handle a 10000 point + game on each side in 1 day.
hi there ....
.
i just wanted to let you know, that i recently started writing some articles for my dreadrider. the first one was released yesterday. please feel free to read it and tell me what you think about it. ....
.
http://bobpanda.de/warhammer/projects/dreadrider/dreadrider/ .
my intention was to write an article for each aspect of the model. therefore i started with its' background. next article will be about the buildingprocess. and than painting.
.
regarding the articles structure i wanted to try something new. on the one hand i wanted to provide some backgroundinfo and fluff regarding this model by telling a kind of story from different point of views. but further i also wanted to provide my own thoughts about this projects and its' planing. - so i split the article in different sections, each describing a certain amount of backgroundinfo from a different pov.
...
hi everyone ....
finally i'm back from malaysia. and as promised i already continued building. ...
today i redisigned the wolflord-titans main weapons.
.
here are some pics ... - what do you think about it? ...
.
Jebus... these are just all kinds of awesome! The Wolf Lord looks mighty intimidating... and any gun that's big enough to use a tank turret as a muzzle break is win in my book.
Got a wolf hound coming along as well I see... it is a wolf hound right?

yes, that's right. it is a pretty simple concept, that i developed espacialy for those out there who want to build a warhound, but prefer kitbaching instead of scratchbuilding with plasticcard.
RiTides Nids wrote:Wow... that Titan is so cool!
What else to say... awesome! Would love to see it in person...
well .... - if you're living nearnuernberg/germany, tomorrow could be your chance ... , because i think about going to the local gw-store tomorrow and maybe taking it with me ....
Just a thought BobPanda, whilst the titan is still looking fantastic, I can't help but think that the central 'ribcage' part of it now looks a little undersized. It might need bulking out in some way. Not quite sure how, but it just looks a little small at the moment.
hello ..... it's me again .. .
finally i started painting the minis shown on the previous page, together with my buggycrews and some other stuff ....
the first layer of blue is already almost done ....
.
hey,
firstly great work on the space wolves (makes me sad thinking that my LGWS doesn't sell the codex), keep the good work up and enjoy painting that giant titan
This is some of the most incredible stuff I think I've ever seen. My first army actually was space wolves but I've never seen anything like that land raider before! I absolutely love the chains on the dozer blade and especially the halved assault cannon gunner. That is so nice!
wow ... ! thanks for all that feedback !!! ...
yes, those warthogs are from mcFarlane. i think it was halo3series or something ....
~12€ each .... :-)
today all of them got their eyes done. further i painted the red parts and some of the golden parts ...
.
at last i continued a little bit further on this guy, which is still wip, but meanwhile i canuse him to see if the scheme fits to rest of the army ...
.
Amazing painting skills my friend! Whatever you do, don't stop!
I do not agree, While your modelling IS clearly amazing, your painting is neat and tidy but lacks depth. there is only a block colour and a highlight. No shading or blending , Still, with this much effort going into this many models I appreciate that it would take forever to a four colour blend on each mini. A massive army, I would probably be tempted for a moment to speed paint it also .It still looks good.

...
thanks for your feedback and also fpr thecomment regarding the painting-quality.
i also thought about that point aspect quite long .... than i found out, that the only reason why i haven't started painting my already built stuff was, that i didn' want to mess it up with a speed-paint-job, but also had no motivation to spent hundrets of hours into finishing those minis.
finaly i decided to choose a compromise in between ... : paintjob in TT-quality to make them fit to the rest of the army, but not too much freehands and layers, just to save some time ...
but anyway ....: the good thing about my scheme is, that i could always upgrade the already applied paintjob, simply by adding a nice sahde between the different blues. i think i'll rework my whole army in 10~15 years and than i'll improve the blue by adding some additional layers and shades,
....
but for the moment i decided, that i shouldn't spent all my prescious time on painting, when i'm much better in building .... the fact that there are still many conversions in the queue or not finished yet even confirms this statement.
...
-
meanwhile i finished nr4 :

Everything is beyond awesome in your SW force, BP. But this is, by far and away, my favorite!
If I was a Space Wolf, I'd be going for all the death and glory I could get my hands on to get entombed in one of these babies.
Lets see.. Quad chainswords for teeth and a flamer for my nose. Body like a Khornite's fantasy painted blue.
Plus my buddies can ride on my back for extra awesomeness...
today i had not much time for painting ... only ~2 hours.
therefore i finished only 1 new blood claw and my 3 termis that were almost half finished.
btw: the swords of the termi in the middle were my first attempt on nmm .... - but i think this applying this to a complete army would be too much work ...
.
Uri Lee wrote:that is just brilliant man, the whole thing. Did you also make the little wolf's tail hanging off the back?
thanks !!! .
no no ... this i a sw-land raider door from FW that i integrated in the back and this little tail is by default part of it ...
i thought espacialy for guys in power-armor it is by far easier to enter such a tank through a real door instead of a smal hatch on the roof ... -
Outstanding work my friend ! These space wolves truly do their outdated codex and models justice on a new level =D
you fulfilled my dream cheers! have a piece of cheese
Actually, pictures of these wolves would make the next codex way better than what the usual 'eavy metal teams production does. Does someone know the editor for it? If so send him/her over here. And I really mean it.
This is truly stunning. All I want to know is how many people you had to mug to get the cash for all that. I was looking at the titan and found bits to a ton of stuff, then found a kitbashed Baneblade on the Land Raider. I almost fainted!
Well after reading through all that I've got to say I'm amazed. Thats one of the most characterful Space Wolf armies I've ever seen.
My Favourites gotta be the Land Raider crusader with the murals on the side, its just a perfect space wolf transport.
One minor criticism of the army however. The basing you've used on some of the army (terminators especially) tends to draw the eye away from the models. You can probably fix this just by covering some of the grass with rocks or even giving the flock a drybrush.
Again amazing work, looking forward to the finished project.
Uri Lee wrote:Are you going to do some bikes aswell, that would be cool!
it's not planed ... but i think when the buggys are finished i'll pause this army for a while ...
-
so here the last 4 minis ... - now i only have to finish the other 6 buggys. ...
-
I love the wolfdread it looks really sick! hell your whole army is very well done nice work. H
ow long has it taken in total do your army, just curious?

unf i broke my right hand .... so there's not much progress at the moment ...

This is simply awesome!!! VERY creative conversions!!! I friggin' love it!!!
Automatically Appended Next Post: oh and .... Those Titans (ESPECIALLY THE WOLFLORD ONE) ..... can't even describe how cool they are ..... well done sir .....
Jumped onto Dakka today, expecting the typical "How do I strip my army!" or "How do I thin paint!" crap. Nope, came across this.
Freakin' fantastic stuff. I've a new goal for my abilities, in creating and design.
Relief is fantastic. I'm also a big fan of the use of the Halo Warthogs as landspeeders. I've got a conversion in mind using the Halo 3 Grunt Chopper model by McFarlane.
today i also painted the leman russ which will join this army together with a group if imperial guardsman.
unf i was not able to find the heavy bolter and the engine cover. but i'll simply add them later.
