Interesting. The paint work needs a bit more depth, but conceptually I like the army. The KoS is particularly unique, though the sword should be a bit smaller. Maybe 2/3 the size it currently is.

I think the Soul Grinder would go over a bit better if his unmentionables weren't so...erect.

Well, this is currently an all-Daemon army, so no CM.

I would seriously look to inkwashing. I light inking would REALLY bring out the detail on these minis and improve them substantially. Right now they look washed out. Use a colored ink to get an aethereal sheen. I did it with my demonettes and they came out great.

Soulgrinder penis needs more spikes and skulls.

Clownishness is probably what he was going for, and judging by his replies and the reactions he's getting, he's succeeded perfectly. Anyway, I felt like I should explain myself more, since some people think I'm being too rude. I'm not opposed to nudity at all, I'm no prude and I don't have problems with male or female nudity...if it's done right.

That is pretty much my problem with these models. Some people consider miniatures an art form, and while I agree with them I don't think that's any excuse to sculpt huge genitalia on your tanks. You need to remember what you're working with, they're toys used for a tabletop game, a game that mostly children will be exposed to. Despite what most people like to tell themselves 40k is not an "adult" game, at least not anymore. I'm aware that the background is dark and that it's a game dedicated to war of all things, but I feel it's safe enough that I would allow my own children to play. God only knows what Slaanesh and his demons do in the Warp, but on the tabletop I just think people should be sensibe with their portrayals of Slaanesh demons and not do things like this "because in reality that's what they'd probably do". Which isn't even true, being the Prince of Excess I find it easy to believe that his demons would manifest themselves wearing fine silks or furs, or scantily clad in leather like the 5th edition models. Being a demon/follower of Slaanesh doesn't mean you're naked all the damn time, and that's a pretty narrow-minded view to take of it. Like it was said earlier, you never know what's lurking under the loincloth, and in my opinion it should stay that way, because ultimately modelling genitalia on toys is a little weird. It doesn't make you look mature or adult, simply put it makes you look like a sexually depraved freak, and this hobby has enough of a stigma attached to it without people like that making us look even worse. We look like a bunch of freaks drooling over toy tits and cocks, and I'm sorry if I've offended anyone but this is how people will see it.

Emperor's Children vehicles would most likely have scenes of debauchery painted on them. That doesn't mean you have to represent this on your models with pictures of women being penetrated by tentacles, you could simply paint nude figures (male and female) swirling or dancing on the surface, maybe something reminiscient of the picture on the bottom of page 10 in the CD codex, and it would still look like a perfectly fluffy EC model. If you're feeling adventurous you could even try painting a Giger-esque mural on them, still perverted but subtle. If you put time and effort into it you can make a sexually themed model that you can still trot out in games without shame.

I think the soulgrinder would have been much better if you modelled a cannon or something instead of the giant penis. It's still suggestive enough for those people who absolutely have to have stuff like that represented on their models, being a half-mechanical, half-demon construct it sorta makes sense (maybe have some tentacles and cabling wrapped around it or plugged into it and leading back to the body), and if any young gamer's mom happens to wander into the store it (hopefully) won't immediately put her off and make her force her kid to sell all his models and never speak of 40k again. The multibreasted spawn I don't really have a problem with (so long as I haven't missed any giant labia), even the GW fiends are sporting them, so it fits in. Spawn are the ones that I can really imagine not covering up their nudity, they're mindless beasts after all. The one on the far right is the worst though, I don't like it. It's literally nothing but breasts and a couple of tentacles, I think you should have made something closer to the one in the middle. Something that looks like a daemonette, but with more tentacles and claws and overall just a lot more monstrous-looking. I do like the armless daemonettes leading the chariot, I think this army needs more of that. Stuff that's disturbing and unsettling, not just blatantly offensive...not that a penis is "offensive", but a 10-foot hard-on that looks like it was just stuck randomly onto a model kinda is, in my opinion.

In either case it's your army, they're your models and you can really do whatever the hell you want with them, I don't care. In fact I think all this talk is starting to inspire me to go back and do my own Slaanesh army that I wanted to do before (with the sonic weapon bits now available on the GW store it would be a lot easier than when the CSM codex just came out). This is just my opinion, I'm not purposely trying to be rude or attack anyone and you can choose to completely disregard me if you want.

Things like that, sure it could be hard work but it could pay off.

I think GSing boobs/ giant @@@@ is the easiest /direct / in your face / approach . Cant miss it!

@ stynier over eating always result in display of overweight , that itself is against what slaneesh consider beautiful.

without displaying overweight models, the effect of gluttony wouldn't stand out effectively ( visually ).
and thats what modelling is all about imo .

Well the Dark Eldar do practice similar things to what the Slaanesh worshipers do. And if not drugs than you can still do the fine robes, gold and jewelry with flawless armor and weapons.


Yes over eating does result in a display of being overweight, and it would be rather hard to display it in a manner suiting Slaanesh with out making the models over weight, thats why someone more creative than I should do it.

Maybe God of Yams, since it was his idea, I just endorsed it.

If i ever have the chance to model a slanesh defiler, i wouldnt go so far to model a giant @@@@ on it lol.

and have it morph a bunch of guns / spikes
( like obliterator arms )

I like a good, sizeable schlong on a mini. It's something that's sadly lacking from GW products, and I personally can't fault the man for adding it.

you guys are too much. both sides of this arguement have valid points, but I think i may be able to provide something that you would both agree on. When I began researching the awesomeness (i deem that to be a legitimate word) of slaanesh, i looked to the the chaos daemons codeci. In it I found that the descriptions of the palace of pleasure was full of great inspiration. just my thoughts on the matter. oh and I totally dig the wang-filer. Rock on.

This army is painted so so in the pics, but the conept kicks ass. That is seriously funny.

The only thing that defiler wee we needs is a big piercing, that would be all slanesh all the way.

Awesome army man, if people don't see the humor in it then they are a bit uptight in my opinion, after all, its just a collection of toys, nothing more.

you have to remember slanesh was made after the fall of the eldar. he is what the dark eldar created, from a fluff point of view. he/she is the god of excess, but focusing on just that is what makes this thread so, well interesting. you have completly left out that slanesh's sacred number of 6, and honestly, how where you comfterble sculpting a 'horse ****' on that defiler? thats what really kills it.

now don't get me wrong you do a great job, but finish what you started. get more fluff involved, maybe a chaos lord thats obsessed with gold with a harem familiar.

the other day i fought a nurgle deamon player, and all of his models where made 90% out of sculpy, he, and i'm not kidding, had a poo theme'd nurgle army. not to say its a bad idea but it takes considerable more work to create then kitbash chaos list.

Combine the poo daemons and the sex daemons and you've got a party.

hmm, I dunno. If the defiler was to scale... it looks like the member would be at least 6... feet.
