History of the Bloodbane chapter Alium Destrus is one of the Primarchs who was expunged from all Imperial records along with his legion. During the Horus heresy he and his loyal warriors fought heroically against their treacherous brethren. After the heresy Alium had his Tech-adepts and bio-magi worked night and day trying to find a way to return the Emperor to his pre-heresy glory. After many decades they found a way to do this, they discovered that a huge psycic outcry could cause the rejuvenation of the God-Emperor and even boost his phycic abilities such that he could maintain the Astronomican single handedly. Such a huge outcry would require billions of people to create, so Alium explained his plan to the Ecclesiarchy. But the recently appointed lords of Terra did not want the Emperor back, they wished to rule in his stead so they declared Alium and his chapter heretical. The Bloodbane chapter found itself beset on all sides by zealous new second founding chapters, eager to prove themselves in the fires of battle. Unable to defeat such an outnumbering foe the Bloodbanes fled to the group of stars known as the wings of Sanguinis. The chapter was duly expunged from imperial records and the wings of Sanguinis were classified as dangerous and inhabited by the hyper-violent Bharghesi making them an ‘avoid at all costs’ area for starship captains. Since then the Bloodbane chapter has carved out a small empire for themselves, but they still strive tirelessly towards restoring the Emperor as leader of mankind.

Alium Destrus Alium Destrus grew up on the planet Cirsus Minoris. Cirsus Minoris was a hunting world. As a boy Alium defended the most hunted creature, the Tree bear, he considered them noble creatures and he would often violently confront hunters to protect them. Once he had been picked up by the great crusade and his true identity shown to him he decided to model his fighting style on the bear. He made himself a pair of mighty claws, and he customised his armour so he could run and jump but still be armoured. He even became known as The Bear of Cirsus. Alium was one of the most devout Primarchs. However he was not zealous, in battle against Heretics and Traitors he would go into a fearless and painless state which ends only once all enemies are banished from his sight. He also was not afraid of genetic deviancy, if a member of his chapter sported such a deviancy he would talk to them, inspect their character and if he saw nothing unbecoming of the Emperor’s finest he would leave them be. (some of the rules here have been borrowed from another site, I can't remember who but to them I say Thankyou!) Profile Ws Bs S T W I A Ld Sv Inv 6 6 5 5 5 6 5 10 2+ 4+ Warp Energy: The Primarchs were infused with latent psychic abilities. Much of their physical prowess was owed to these powers, especially their toughness. Each Primarch has a psychic ward providing him an invulnerable save taken in addition to any normal armour or invulnerable saves, This ward cannot be negated by any weapon. Chaos Bane: Primarchs were anathema to Chaos entities, and their merest touch would cause daemons of the warp to cower in fear. A Primarch will always wound daemonic entities on a 3+ or better. Super-human: The Primarchs were to marines as marines are to ordinary humans. They could withstand blows that would decapitate a lesser being, and horrific injuries could not stop them. A Primarch can never be instant-killed, no matter what the circumstance. He is simply too tough. Vitality: The pure psychic energy channelled through the Primarchs enables them to recover lost strength and heal faster than even a Space Marine. At the start of his own turn an injured Primarch regains one wound on a roll of a 6. Leader of Men: Any friendly unit with LOS to at least one Primarch can re-roll failed Morale Checks (cumulative with items such as Imperial Guard standards). Space Marines from a Primarch’s Legion can re-roll whether they have LOS or not, and may rally using ‘And they shall know no fear’ even if the enemy is within 6”. Claws of The Bear: Alium Destrus has a pair of these, each one counts as 3 power swords and a power fist and are master crafted. Divine fury: When fighting any chaos unit in close combat Alium Destrus is fearless so cannot fail any leadership test or morale check nor can any unit he is in.

Heroes of the chapter Chapter Master Yenkil Davaes Master Yenkil Davaes takes the role of chapter master in the place of Alium Destrus. This is because Alium Destrus has ordered himself placed in a stasis field until he is needed once more. Yenkil has been chapter master for 352 years but was master of the first company for 75 years before that and began his space marine training over 1000 years ago. He is a very tactical leader, and takes to the field of battle in a dreadnaught-like set of power armour. In there he has a massive tactical computer that, when combined with his own knowledge of battle, means he can optimise each of his warrior’s performance. Furiassus, Grand master of sanctity
Furiassus is quite possibly the most devout man alive, he is completely faithful in his task and inspires others to be the same. He also has an interesting philosophy, he believes that what you believe is up to you, that you may practise your faith as long as it does not affect others. This may seem a philosophy that would stop him from waging war, however he believes that worship of anything other than the Emperor is foul and affects him by plighting his view with vile heresy. Therefore he goes to battle in the suit of purification. This is a holy suit of terminator armour he crafted himself. It’s weapons are designed to immolate and therefore cleanse the enemies of the Emperor, dual heavy flamers and firestorm projectors surrounding him with an inferno through which little can pass. Furiassus embodies the pinnacle of devotion and is the Bloodbane chapters greatest warrior.

interesting. i think the background is a good start, it needs to be expanded on a bit though. why havent they been crushed by other chapters and the imperial guard. when their primarch suggested that they kill billions of people what did the other first founding chapters have to say about it?
the primarch is fine. theyre meant to be hard as nails and he is. why would he put himself in stasis though? primarchs are virtually immortal so there isnt really any reason that he would put himself in stasis unnecessarily. also why do his claws count as 3 powerswords and a powerfist? it dont really make much sense. it has no impact on the game. a better idea would be to use them as a pair of master crafted lightning claws & a pair of master crafted powerfists, then you would be able to use then as either.
i like the idea of a dreadnought chapter master but there are a couple of things that need fixing. there is no such thing as a heavy close combat weapon. a powersword is already a close combat weapon. he also shouldnt have a rending powersword. make him S6 basic and then give him a rending drednought CC weapon instread. it makes things a lot simpler from a rules perspective.
i dont like your last character. you say he is the most devout man alive (which is very unlikely) and that he is completely faithful in his task, but then give no description of what he does. what is his purpose in the chapter? the firestorm projectors dont make sense. they mean that he cant be close to any of his own models or they will start taking S5 hits. why does he have FNP? you give no reason for him to have it. and again why is he immune to fire? there is no reason. it seems that you have just made up a character without any thought to why he is the way he is. lack of sufficient background is what make these own projects terrible. you have to stop focusing on how bad-ass you want your characters to be in game and concentrate more on their background.

Thankyou, many good points. May I make it clear that to restore the Emporor a huge phychic outcry was needed and that billions were needed to produce it, I never said that they needed to die, although I can see how you inferred that (The black fleets and whatnot) Also please bear in mind I wrote this using a 4th ed. rulebook and so may need to revise some rules and profiles (and there used to be a heavy close combat weapon, there used to be!)

You've set yourself a pretty big task here. I hope the models match their awesome fluffness.
9764
Post by: Septic
You think that's a big task, I want them to be at least 100 companies! (It's a long long term thing) 50 of them space marine and 50 initiates ranging from hopeful ig to guys that just need to put armour on!

Where is the modelling? Perhaps this can better be located at the rules and/or fluff section instead?

Right, some more piccies. These are of one of the prospective marine companies The chimera turret is from a baneblade sponson with a piece of sprue inside to make sure it pivots They will eventually number 100 and each squad will have a chimera conversion but without the turret The guardsmen have had aquilas removed so they don't look as bulky as cadians

I like what you've done with the Chimera, the turret looks great!
I have to say, that, while I'm not a fan of the lasguns coming out of the chimera from a cosmetic point of view, personally, I do like to keep them on there so they can be used during transport, however crap they can tend to be - I'm wondering why you chose to cover them up? Is it fluff reasons? Or aesthetic ones?
9764
Post by: Septic
fluff reasons mostly, but also aesthetic, this is the command chimera so would need some room inside for maps etc. but also this company is supposed to operate for long periods of time unaided so need spare parts.

My tactics idea is basically start with sentinels and remnants on the board, and maybe veterans depending on the enemy. Next turn bring in the infantry platoons, Then third turn everything else, although I will alter it depending on the situation.

Post by: ghostmaker
well I like the fluff. Use them as grey knights to ally with your IG. But your vet's should have 3 meltas or 3 plasma. Your IG squads have no Spec. or heavy thats kinda the IG doctrine to take those. May be take auto cannons in all of them. I think Voxes are point less but hey they may work. heres an Idea take surveyor in every squad if you want and then the Transport and or the unit may shot at them. How do you keep the Tanks off the board btw ? the points level is very large is this for mega games ?
9764
Post by: Septic
I don't want to take heavy weapons as I like keeping my guard moving (15pts for 6 shots over 2 turns? No thank you!) If I have points left I might gear up the veterans I think surveyors are cheap enough to go in every squad, thankyou for the idea. Yes tanks held in reserve is the plan, until their unit arrives, I think that's legal, better read through the rulebook again though... EDIT: yep, it is legal as long as they hold the unit they are transporting It is a high points level but I can cut it down quite quickly by dropping some small units like the vets or remnants.

For the commander mostly spare bitz:
head from sm commander box (the half bionic one)
shield from the assault marine sprue on the left chainsword arm
Servo skull from the devastator box set (I will make it count as digital weapons)
The right arm is a bolter holding arm with a powersword hand on
The torso is from the assault marine box set again
The guy with the hood is from a period I went through when I thought putting phycic hoods on everything was cool, I even have a gaurdsman with one!
It was made from a shoulder pad.

Post by: Septic
Abbadon isn't a primarch...
But I see that they are overpowered, then again they are not official rules so it depends if my opponent lets me use them, I could always negotiate points

For the escalation league I painted these to replace the vets for my first game. Apparently armoured fists can only be used once you have a platoon, harumph! (I know it's in the codex but it's a pain for ig players)
A command squad (they get the chimera) and another guard squad.

In the league I am now on a 308pt army so can include the vets. I played two games. First we ended up on a 1ft by 3ft board lengthways doing a kill point mission. The opposition force was a tau force of 12 fire warriors, a broadside and a battlesuit. He took out my tank first turn and from then on I couldn't do much but alternate between fleeing and getting rapid fired. The high point for me was when my junior officer destroyed his battlesuit with the butt of his lasgun! Next game I played the Tau player's brother. He had brought 12 space marines with no heavy or special weapons, or krak grenades... It ended up with me parking my chimera on the objective and letting the guard out last turn. Poor boy got deppressed because he hadn't won any games so far. Cheered up after chocolate though

Quick league update (which I forgot about when it was due a fortnight ago).
I played 3 games, 2 wins and a draw.
Played my friend's tau and won due to the fact he only had one troops choice in a 4 objective game. Needless to say he took a drubbing.
This time six objectives vs space marines. Same boy I upset last time but he took a dreadnaught. I just survived with enough men to clinch the battle with one objective.
Last game was 250 pts against a new starter in the league with csm. We rolled Kill points and I was utterly wiped out in 3 turns by his 10 man squad in a Rhino.
Now I have 539pts so can use my whole currently painted army at once. I also popped along to a little introductory day and managed to squeeze in a 3 vs 3 battle with 500pts of The Adamantium brotherhood.

9764
Post by: Septic
waaagh!orksrocks: I might start work on a biggerized marine in preparation for the primarch, I will name this marine Chuck for reasons explained later on...
League update:
I played two games. The first was 500pts agains chaos sm in which my entire army but one guardsman was wiped out (this was a kill points game.
I placed said guardsman in cover where he weathered two turns of my opponents ENTIRE army shooting at him. On the 6th turn he failed a last man standing test and ran out of cover he took 1 passed hit from a rhino twin linked bolter. He went to ground. I closed my eyes and rolled...It was a 6!!!!!!!
This obviously was an event that caused much mirth for me and my opponent until 'chuck'-as he is now called- was brutally cut down by a meltagun later that turn.
The other game was 539pts against tau. We played sieze and control and I was victorios despite killing nothing.

A small update:
At the weekend I went to local GW to pick up some ig advisors I reserved but was told by captain mouse that they didn't have any, despite me being told they had an order coming in. Anyways I asked what they had on at half term and they said mini games day and I said yay and so I went elsewhere and got some vallejo game colour reds and black and the metallic medium. For their Golden Daemonette I painted up this dude:
and I am submitting a bolter armed scout squad for the squad category. Arbite guy is in for scrap demon.

Right, league update, two games played game 1, 490pts against sm my, opponent was lacking 100pts and didn't realise until the third turn when he brought on a dreadnaught which I shot with a plasmagun before it even moved, in the end I had 3 objectives and he had just 3 termies left on the board. Game 2, 560 pts against csm and I just avoided tabling, I managed to take 2 wounds off of my opponent's demon prince Automatically Appended Next Post: My weekend project and first ever table, the pleasing thing to me is that this table used no specialist modeling parts, however I am stuck on whether to call it urban or lunar. Chuck should be bigger no change that tougher much tougher I have played (and beaten) Chuck noriss all 4s 2+ 2++ and 2+ cover and feel no pain with what was left after fighting orks a bolter took 2 wounds off and the heavy bolters did the rest

Thanks Just painted up a five man squad of tac marines and a drop pod. I hate the drop pod The problem with the drop pod is that there are two ways to play it (the making that is), you can either glue it all together first and then not be able to do any real interior detail, or you can paint it separately then glue it together. I took option two and then spent the best part of a year putting it together, I got the damned thing last October!!! AND my camera's batteries packed in before I could get an inside shot!

Interesting idea on the Primarch but that made me laugh. A primarch in this game isn't possible to represent. He would be something around WS15 BS15 ST10 T7 I9 W10 A10 LD10 SV2+ invuln 2+ eternal warrior... He's off the charts. He would be an untouchable. Right now your primarch is a pretty SM Chapter Master. Primarchs could kill a chapter master by telling them to kill themselves. Most marines couldn't even look at their primarch for too long just because they would begin to weep. I like the rest though XD. Especially the alternating color schemes on the marines, it makes them look a bit more individual and idk more likable.

painting is good, the lowlight and highlighting on the commander's cloak is nicely done, dunno if anyone else noticed this however, those weapons look oversized, like, for the model itself, they just look too big and clunky
9764
Post by: Septic
@Edward089 Thanks for the compliment on the layering The weapons are from regular guard, but the body is the baneblade/hellhammer tank commander, a more realistically scaled model than some others of gw. The arms are out scaled (if the "if your hand is bigger than your face" thing were true then he would need chemo) but it is less noticeable in person, and ties him into the command squad Automatically Appended Next Post: Sentinel #1

@ShadowAngel159: Bring my ideas back ya hooligan! They came outta my thinker so they're mine. Actually I got the idea for objectives from bell of lost souls, but the guy on there used mordian casualties so his force is much cooler, although I could use the space marine casualties for my marines, hmm....
Anyways I have spent much of the past four days retouching the silver and red marines, tidying up overspill and washing the shoulders, but I also finished another squad, bringing them up to 750 pts. I used some dark angels bits on this squad, I also intend to get black templars bits, but with chapterhouse studios putting out so much great stuff, new space wolves coming out, the space hulk termies being so beautiful, my desparation for headphones that fit me becoming profound and having just found a place that sells chromed flying goggles, I don't know where my money should go!
Well, on to the models I suppose

Now my entry for golden demon next year, I shall be entering it in young bloods as I doubt my entry would even be accepted in any other category , and this will be my last year of being able to enter youngbloods. He will be a spacewolf, I will follow the 'eavy metal masterclass to try to get him just right. He also has a display base.
Feedback about the model much appreciated BEFORE I prime him, also any tips on what I could do to notch him up a level as far as paint methods are concerned.
Model based on last year's gamesday model.
I cut off the topknot and repositioned it to show direction
I put tank tracks in the polyfilla I used on the base to add a little bit of story, hunt the chaos rhino spacewolf, HUNT!
Also some resin basing stuff in there, including the wolf's dicarded helm.
Used this in the deepest recesses for pooled water, and an ink wash on the rest.

9764
Post by: Septic
OK, any reason?
After thinking about it now, I'm torn between wolves and white scars.
All depends on comments and whether there are any white scars masterclasses.
The topknot comes with the wolf and I used it to convey direction, but if it's just me thinking what I've done is better than it is (I know I'm not innocent of that) then I'll lop it off

Post by: Stretch
I like the topknot personally, it would go better with wolves IMO. The base is looking pretty sweet, once you finish some of the details it will come together more. I lost track of this thread a while ago and am glad to have found it again. Keep up the good work!
