Not terrible but not as good as I had hoped either. Don't like how it looks all chubby/saggy, and the armour plates on the back look a bit off. Also, SKULLZ for the lose.
I can see a lot of squiggoths being converted from it though, and some D'n'D monsters too.

Post by: mothman_451
alot of that has to do with the drab paint scheme
its still promising and we havent even seen the other options(3 different versions of it can be made, one with skinks, one with the negine of the gods and one as a mount)

Post by: Kanluwen
I LOVE IT!
It looks like a pretty good model; the Undead thing I think is because of the fleshy bits visible linking the frill to the head. And maybe a bit of the facial features looking saggy.
But otherwise, that is friggin' gorgeous.

looks more like a triceratops than a stegadon to me, but I'm not complaining - i was expecting some rather dull generic dino model, and at least this thing has some character. They're going to sell quite a few to Ork Snakebite players; it'll make a cool counts-as battlewagon

I see the poor enslaved stega-beastie that is going to be carrying my Dark Elves Cauldron of Blood onto the battlefield. A little filing and sculpting to make the platform look elvish. Remove the support beams on the sides and replace them with tethers that are hooked into the flesh. Cauldron and witches on top and some beastmasters prodding it along.

I like the new look, although it is sort of busy as far as features are concerned. It does look a bit saggy in the legs, but the last one had that problem too. I think it's an improvement as far as fitting with the modern range is concerned, but the old one had that sort of campy"I'm totally not a triceratops, honest!" look to it.

Roll out some snakes of green stuff. point one end, put a radius bend on it. Roll out a small pancake about the same radius as a pencil eraser. build up the ends of the pancake and put the tusks in it.. then place this on the Stegadon anywhere you like.

Brontosaurus was unfortunately an accident. It was an apatosaurus (I think that's the spelling) with it's head on the end of it's tail rather than it's kneck. It never existed. But I agree, a 25mm sauropod would rox0r.
I love the carnasaur, and the salamanders. But the stegadon doesn't do it for me. The more I look at it, the more I just think...chubby.

Ultimately, I dig it. And in plastic? Fantastic.
Somebody said the critter was more "modern" and I agree, fits in better with the other ranges. And like the carnosaur, it's a nice mash of real dinos instead of any single one, vs the old stegasaur/cow thing. The face / expression is a low point, but the howdah is pretty sweet. Much more expanded, integrated bolter, room for the skinks to a) fit and b) do stuff?! I wonder how the other versions will look.
As to the comments about "SKULLZ, NOES!" I actually think lizardmen are one of the few - chaos, undead - armies that ought to have them around, particularly as decorations. Coming from a quasi-Aztek fluff background I think it works as a decorative aesthetic

Honestly though little disappointed; if I thought there might be optional heads or something along those lines I'd think this is model was great however I really doubt its going to have that many options for the main stegadon body/heads
though I could be wrong considering the rumor of the two different Stegadon choices (special choice and rare choice) I'm hoping so.

I think GW should go ahead and make an Eldar Exodite army. I think Exodites would be a great addition to 40k and would also be a very balanced army because the inherent lameness of elves cancels out the awesomeness of dinosaurs with lasers thus maintaining balance in the game and also in life and the universe. Lichemaster on Pyramid Vault posted a better picture with an alternate head. It looks worse than the first though the howdah part is awsome, if nothing else for the bits. Wow. Thanks, Mr Obvious.
I know what the "steggie" looks like. I remember rumors that said that the kit will be able to make the Reg. Steggie, HQ Steggie and the Engine of the Gods. The original posted picture is what the standard steggie looks like. So, my question is, in the above picture, is what the EotG looks like?
1099
Post by: Railguns
Guess I misunderstood you there. As far as the EOTG goes, I thought it was mounted on a different dino. That lloks like the same steggie with a slightly consternated old man look, not the raging, get off my lawn old man look. The stargate on the back of the howdah is interesting though;it may just be a stylistic piece referring to the Aztec( or is it Mayan) sun calender that was basically a stone circle.

Man- still loving the Steggie. Really looks like an ancient war beast in the Warhammer world. The last steggie was great, but it looked to much like a real dinosaur instead of a lizardman fantasy creature. While that's not a huge negative, I do see the logic in warhammer-izing the stegadon concept.
