just bought AoBR a month ago and just got the time to play with them!!
being a cheapskate I decided to try and convert some boyz to nobz to lead the mob!!
I'm new at this so don't be surprised about the quality of my work.
1st Nob
close up
2nd nob
power pizza kutter!!
konsept art for my boss' warbike
progress!!
and so far here she is!!
the mold lines haven't been thoroughly removed coz i got lazy. and most of the stuff isn't final yet, except for the bike.
C&C please!!

What exactly are you using for your building material?
6564
Post by: AAA
@Inyoka: he's just a model, like in car show n stuff!! or if he kills the warboss then he'll be the new warboss!!
@Ifurita: since I cant find plasticard here I'm using those key cards from hotels. coz i gotz lotz of 'em!!

ok started work with the rear wheel! and I just ran out of glue. gonna buy some later when this rain stops.
the pics are a bit blurry. dang camera won't cooperate today. oh well...
6564
Post by: AAA
alright finally done with the rear end!!
i know the exhaust looks like hell, but their orks (lame excuse) and these are warbikes!!
just have to figure out how to do the front wheels coz I lost the other big lego wheel.
what do you think the two small lego wheels glued together? or cut them both and glue em to make 1 big wheel?
6564
Post by: AAA
work has been kinda slow. Im starting to get bored with it. So all I managed today was the front wheel, coz I just started scratch building a rhino for the SM.
the handle bars arent glued yet, still thinking about how to do the wheels.
don't worry by tonight I'll have the bike done, and start on the weapons.
cheers!

Post by: Amen Brick
nice work indeed
9217
Post by: KingCracker
i really like it but i think that front wheel is WAY to small. other then that nice job so far man!
6564
Post by: AAA
Alright here you go!! BIG wheels but it's not final yet, just wanted to let you see how it goes.
but somethings bugging me though, it feels too humie like. dont you agree?
i don't really like the looks of it being below the engine, maybe i'll just bend it a bit to make it like those low rider bikes.
like this one
8065
Post by: gerilla_93
i think that the nobs are too small... try ro cut them in middle and glue plasticard in between and under the foots.
other than that i think it is really cool, not really my style but hey, it's just my oppinion.
keep it up.
6564
Post by: AAA
slow pace, coz I got busy with other stuff.
no work on the bike yet, but I did manage to make this. My first ever sculpt!!
it's an alien animal skull thing. don't be surprised coz its sucky!!
im planning on putting this on the front part on top of the headlights.
road kill deco!!!
9217
Post by: KingCracker
well as far as the too humie feel, you can add like 4 more exhaust pipes sticking out at random spots, and you could make the "jaws" on the front of the bike a little wider. but i do like the bigger tire on the front nice work so far
5723
Post by: Dez
Definately angle the forks more, like the lowrider bike. Also, the part where the forks meet the handlebars (sorry, I don't know the term) is really big, which is offsetting the front wheel and making it look really weedy. I think the cowl on the front wheel is too big as well, which also makes that tire look too small.
You are sculpting, maybe add some weld lines to it? That would definately help Orkify things. Cut some of those hotel keys at odd angles, and make them look like teeth. Then...glue them to the bike so they look like teeth/little armor plates/spikey bits.
The rest of the bike looks great, and I am impressed Sort out the front end and this will make a great warbike. Don't be afraid to start over, it usually makes the model better. And shave your mustache.
6564
Post by: AAA
thanks for the info, will get to work on it ASAP.
PS I already shaved, that pic is from last year!!

Finally got the time to build and post after a long time, real life has been crazy lately. But anyway, I decided to build a couple of objective markers. Still need more more work and paint, and 2 more objectives.
Here's the first one, it's an ammo dump. notice the Shoota lying around there.
a couple of barrels as a fuel dump. still thinking of adding something on top of the barrels. any ideas?
a power generator, or if you put it on a BW you could use as a KFF.
the back side of the generator.
and the dice roller!
10203
Post by: lolzman
dice roller rocks man
10345
Post by: LunaHound
wow im speechless, you have talent for using those materials.
your first sculpt is great too...
Lego wheel too small though.
9217
Post by: KingCracker
yea Im impressed with the progress your scratch building skills have come. Those markers and generator look awesome, cant wait for paint. And the dice roller is friggin cool. The table I normally play on gives us trouble as far as space to roll, I think I should build me one of those
7010
Post by: enmitee
Where in the Philippines do you play?
6564
Post by: AAA
thanx for the support guyz!!
@Luna: i'm still looking for some bigger wheels, coz my younger brother got mad when he discovered I used his lego!! (although technically it was mine till i......grew uP?)=)
@king: even though I only played one game, it really is annoying to find a space to roll the dice. plus this could be my center piece terrain, and the base is 12"x12" so if I ever want to make a CoD board this one's good to go!!
@enmitee: I play here in Cebu, although there's just 2 of us who play. and we still haven't painted our armies yet. Heck it's not even a decent army!!
6564
Post by: AAA
Here are some updates while i was waiting for the glue to dry!
do you think the can would look good there? and the dice roller is it ok there or should it be placed on the middle? coz I wanted a building with a bigger space on the side so I can place some troops there.
6854
Post by: InyokaMadoda
If you put models in the space where the dice are shooting out, you risk damaging the models...
Good work on the scratch builds though! I'd say that the can should only stay there if you can make it look less like a can!
9217
Post by: KingCracker
Im thinking he just put the SM there to show a good size comparison. Really tho I think im going to make me a dice rolla lol

Not bad. I liked the cereal box barrels the best I think. Keep up the good work.
6564
Post by: AAA
been a slow progress today, too tired from school related activities.
sorry though no pics. my mom had to use the cam.
all i did was cover the beady foam with plaster to give it that concrete feel. and still haven't bought paint (damned stores keep running out of black paints. hopefully tomorrow will be different.
@Inyoka: don't worry the Sv 3+ of the SM will keep him from getting hurt from the dice!!
@king: post some WIPs as soon as you get started!!
and thanks for the comment rabbit hole!!
6564
Post by: AAA
Finally got hold of the camera again. although progress has been slow due to some real life stuff.
all I need now is to continue plastering the cracks and stuff so that it would look more concrete like.
don't worry about that big pile of crap lying around, I will paint it and cover it with glue so that the glue will form a flat transparent surface giving the underwater effect. (HOPEFULLY)
still has a lot to go, but I managed to prime the pipes coz I just wanted to test out the spray.
and I have decided to leave out the can.......for now.....

I like the dice roller idea, first time I've seen it.
6564
Post by: AAA
hey guyz!! real life got to me again, and so my dice roller had to be put on hold. But I've managed to make a 2nd wartrukk now.
the one on the left is the new trukk.
do you think I need to raise up the height of the new trukk? coz my first one is taller?
C&C please?
9505
Post by: CaptainRavenclaw
I don't know how you make those things, but you've got real scratchbuild skills! Better than my nunchuck skills.
I think the height of it is fine!

The height dont matter that much (unless you want to go for the orky HUGE style)
6564
Post by: AAA
thanks for all the comments!!
I was just curious if the height was right, coz I haven't seen a GW trukk in real life. And I thought it lacked the height.
but now it's all cleared up, next up is the armor and rivets.
P.S.
don't be surprised if there's no frequent update. been busy with school lately, but I'll still try to sneak in a little time to finish my projects.

Thanx Mcfly!
I'll put washes once I've gotten all the members of the squad painted.
9217
Post by: KingCracker
good scratch building skills, you can paint... DICE ROLLAS!!!! my god youve got..... IT!
yea wash them puppies and they are going to look awesome.
On the new trukk, only thing to me, is the cab looks WAY to wide. It doesnt have to be as wide as the back part. other then that looking good
10392
Post by: Paul Atreides
Wow. Do you have some special technic not to make the cardboard warp?
Your trucks are fantastic. So is the dicerolla.
1635
Post by: Savnock
Great work. If you're new to this, you're going to make an amazing vet.
And although washes will help with da Orks, you might want to highlight first. Try it on a test fig- one shade lighter for highlights, then wash to tie it all together. Otherwise they will probably turn out too dark overall.
Great work, keep it up!
6564
Post by: AAA
Here they are! My first mob. Coz they're going into the trukks. Now I still have to do a bit of orange to the rust part and white red and black for tattoos. But basically they're done. But the base isn't painted yet coz I wanted to make sure if I'm still going for the dessert look or maybe something else.
that's it so far. Up next will be my 'Ard boyz. Now try to guess what they look like now that you've seen the first ten boyz from AoBR.
oh and C&C are welcome!
9505
Post by: CaptainRavenclaw
They look great, especially for your first squad! Are those the first GW models that you've painted? If so, very well done!
I reckon the main thing is to get them all looking uniform, don't worry too much about details cos they consume time. Get all your boys painted first, then give some extra special attention to your leaders and characters!
Keep up the good scratchbuilds!! PS how do you get your cardboard to not warp?

6564
Post by: AAA
KingCracker: Thanks for the kind words!! I don't know why I widened it, but I cant take it apart anymore coz it's primed already. Plus it doesn't really matter though if I get owned with my big wide trukks as long as they look bad ass, or weird enough to be orky!!
Paul Atreides AND s.j.mccartney: I don't have any special technique. I just make sure that the cardboard edges are glued to a sturdy piece. Take the 2nd trukk. the roof is from card board. But the sides are made of faombaord. So the edges are the only ones getting glued. (hope this makes sense).
Savnock: I hope I become a vet. Coz my life seems to get busier.
fat and sam thanks!!!

Can anyone tell me what color to use for my desert bases? please I really need to know.

if your unable to use citadel paints, a simple dark brown for a base coat, followed by a lighter or beige brown highlight.
10392
Post by: Paul Atreides
Yes it does make sense. Thank you.
6564
Post by: AAA
Thanks enmitee! can't wait to get them done! although I just experimented with one of the boys, and I found out it's a paint to highlight (paint) the base when the figure is all done.

Hi guyz!! Been busy with life. I just managed to paint the pipe of the dice roller. Been doing some thinking about kustamizin me boyz, and I'll do some work tomorrow.
In the mean time enjoy these pics.
I know I botched up at the tip and at the bottom, but no worries they'll be inserted in the holes so they won't be seen.
Too bad I can't do the same for my paint job =)!!

Man this thread is a perfect example of how awesome DakkaDakka is for the image hosting.
SUCH A COOL ARMY AND TERRAIN
Brain overwhelmed by da koolness intensity. So many things to say. The dice roller is simply genius, really fantastic idea and build. Your vehicles look fantastic, but I don't think I saw any pics of the painted thing. Maybe I missed it because my eyes fell out after seeing your finished terrain and dice roller. The toxic waste pipe is really convincing. For some reason most of this stuff reminds me of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, and the Road warrior series.
I hope to see more of your super class stuff

I really like the creative use of materials you have going on. When I see talent alone making results like this I really look forward to what you'll be able to do in a year or two once you have skills/experience to go along with the talent.
And on the paint, the only tip I can make from the pics, is to do a bit of edge wear on the red plates. They look too new Some boltgun or mith silver with a wash and light dose of the rust coloirng you did on the other metal might add that lil extra bit of depth to them.

Yup King is right I just wanted him to look like he's really pulling back before smashing his enemies with the wrecking ball.
Anyway I finished the 2nd trukk but I didn't have the camera at the moment. And I left the Dredd at the shop, maybe tomorrow I can get a pic. I also have a 3rd trukk coming along, but I have been busy with making terrain coz there are now a lot of players in our group (YAY!!!).
And as the unofficial terrain maker I had to come up with some; and here they are:
Tank Repair Depot
the tanks being repaired at the depot ( BTW they are all made of paper)
the ruined robot arm at the depot.
Thanks for looking!! And as usual C&C please!!

I also usually look at packaging material for quick bunkers and the like. Usually works rather well. I didnt however, think of an empty aerosol can like that. Totally stealing this idea. Normally I use empty sample shampoo bottles and the like. That way they arnt humongous.
And congrats on your group getting bigger. Thats always a plus

Thats easy man, his grots. Its a little known fact that docs and meks, actually "teach" some of their skill to their grots. Infact, the infamous Mad Doc Grotsnik, was completely put back together by his grots after a bunch of nobz ripped him to pieces.
That and Im sure one of the normal meks helped at least.

thats 2 terrain for the price of one! or none since I got it for free! Ok... I'll stop with the lame jokes!
