A sneak-peak of the upcoming Ordo Malleus model from Forge World. Looks like this one has a shield.

A Glimpse of the Future
Although we have called a temporary pause on new releases while we get everybody`s orders to them, we're not resting on our laurels and we have a number of exciting new models on the way. By way of a teaser, over the next few updates we will be revealing a part of one of our new models to wet your appetite for the New Year. If you collect and assemble these teaser shots, you be able to see the whole thing!

Some kind of totally fecking rad new Inquisitor figure? Awesome.. I always thought the other Inq. fig FW makes was boring, but this looks like it could be quite cool.

Either that, or FW felt the need to make even prettier Grey Knight Terminators. The thigh armor is identical to the metal models.

Might be CC Grey Knight Terminators. Those would be pretty darn sweet.

And it would make the current GK Termies seem cheap, too.

This model will most likely represent Inquisitor Lord Hector Rex.

I'm going with Grey Knight Terminator armed with Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield.

Based on their recent release of the Grey Knight Redeemer, and the fact that we can see a Stormshield in the picture, I'm going to go with T-Hammer/S-Shield Grey Knights.

My vote is for Inquisitor in Terminator Armour. There's just too many =I= logos for a GK, IMO.

My vote is for a fantastic model that is overpriced and has lame rules with cut and paste mistakes...

I'm as much a phanboi as the next dakkite but I refuse to squint at peek-a-boo images in hopes of enlightentment.

Plus it's obviously squat exoarmor.

GW should do more of this kind of thing.

It makes me way more interested in this new release compared to when they just fill white dwarf with pics.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Given the choice GW would never tell us about new releases until they were on shelves. Expecting cryptic previews from them is too much.

It is definitely a Terminator and that is definitely not a scabbard.

You can see the curve of the shield in the preview picture...

It does say ORTIS or something like that on the edge of the cloak. Gotta go with GK termie/inquisitor.

I'm sure it says 'Mortis', one of the many Latin-ey things put on Imperial models from time to time... it's just about obviously either a GK or Inqu, but the question is which? Sword/Shield combo seems like it could go either way...

Inquisitor, seeing as Grey Knights are not the kind to overly decorate their armour that much.

Who is this Hector Rex cat? An Inquisitor? Or a GK?

Do GKs have that many =I= symbols on their armor and robes? I think the =I= on the tabard and on the box hanging from the belt definately put this in the "Inquisitor" camp. I don't know who Hector Rex is, but I'll be getting this one.

Hector Rex is an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor Lord who approaches Marshall Kagori at the end of Imperial Armour 6, warning that the proverbial poopie is about to hit the proverbial fan. He then puts the entire 88th army under Inquisitorial mandate and we can all guess what happens next.

Yeah I'm switching my vote to 'Inquisitor in Terminator Armour'. Pity it wasn't a Grey Knight Termy w/T-Hammer & S-Shield. FW would've made nice ones of those.

Pity? You make it sound as though a conversion would be much harder than a simple weapon swap.

those are one of the more difficult/ expensive simple conversions, due to the Storm Bolter and the general awesome of the GK termies.

The cloth looks more 'Inquisitor's Coat/robe' than it does "Space Marine Cape" to me, but i could be wrong. That makes me lean towards it being an Inquisitor.

I love what we can see of the pistol in the holster. This will probably be a must buy for me.

Nice, I was expecting Hector to be bald and sport one of them fancy goatties with a small handlebar moustache, but this is even better.

Now that's just nice. The shoulder pads, the filigree, the little back icon. No question about it, this guy's armor is mastercrafted.

Wow he's a fancy Inquisitor, that I would actually consider buying unlike the last guy.

Nice model - not the most optimal of loadouts, but looks frickin' sweet. He'll be a good base for Belial conversions.

Screw optimal loadouts for winning, FW is using something better: the cinematic angle.

I can end the speculation and reveal it to be Inquisitor Lord Hector Rex, a powerful agent of the Holy Ordos who will feature prominently in our next Imperial Armour book. Although just to tease you further, the model will also be supplied with a set of three new retinue members! But that will have to wait until our next newsletter in the coming week.

I'll be excited to see the Retinue members. FW always goes suitably nuts with such background visuals (the DKoK QM retinue, for example).

These will be bought, regardless.

It is also going to ship with 3 retinue members, so, unless they are optional, any guesses on what the package price will be?

Prob 50, all I know is I am buying one on release. If he manages to be Ordos Xenos like Lok, then I will love FW even more.

I think we can be pretty sure that he's a Ordo Malleus Inquisitor with Vraks overrun by Chaos and all that.

It's preobably a Nemesis Force Weapon, so probably at least S6 (assuming base S4).

My personal guess is £35, actually, or 10 pounds more than the DK Quartermaster, who likewise comes with a three-man retinue. Unless those three guys are GK Terminators, in which case it's anyone's guess.

A few of the GW sculptors need to talk to whoever sculpted this and get some lessons in dynamic posing because this model is sweet.

This is one of the first minis I've ever seen that I'd actually buy to just build, paint and put on the shelf to look at, with no conversion or modifications. Wow.

I have seen and looked at this picture a few times now. I like the pose and detail of the inquisitor, and look forward to his retinue. I can imagine a FW Bloodthirster off to the right of the picture and the inquisitor screaming "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" The Grey Knight redeemer is on my FW to-buy list. If FW came out with an entire Daemon Hunter line including Grey Knights, it would bankrupt me :(

Forge world needs to get a better camera. There's a ton of visible image artifacting there.

His retinue is suitably 40k as well. This is a great release.

The retinue is a real letdown for me.

GW's main line retinue figures are way better than these!

NOW I am surprised and a little shocked...

This model looks incredible, I might have to buy him just to paint him and have around as a show peice...of course I'm sure like all FW stuff its not going to be kind to my wallet. >_<

The retinue is perfect, they look nice and individual enough, but don't steal the thunder from their master.

I'd buy it for the lord, the retinue would quickly find their way to someone else.

Amazing model though, amazing...

The Retinue isn't terrible, but the metal WH Crusaders are aces and would really complement this guy.

FW's new stuff page lists it as £27.40.

Well no, the thing is they had a better one. I noticed it with the plagye ogryns a bit back.



There is an immense amount of non monochromatic film grain. It's usually due to anti shaky hands crap they put in digicams these days, but sometimes it just arises due to a bad camera in general. I think what most people were hating about the ogryn models wasn't the paintjob or the models themselves, but the poor photo quality which made discerning the details impossible.



By comparison this small color pic was fairly well shot, but even here you can see the grain (take a look at the interior cape). You didn't really see the photographic issues before the ogryns.


These really are almost as bad as the ogryn were.

No it won't be Adeptus Custodes, because those guys have their own symbols, and more importantly, never leave Earth. Or rather, they go where the Emperor explicitly bids them to go, no other authority has any power over them, and with the Emperor incapacitated, they stay where he is.
