Just tell some of the funny things that have happened to you during a 40k game.
Heres mine.
I have always been leery about using plasma weapons in my space marine army but I finally gave in and finally put one in my SM army.
During my first shot of the first game I use it, it overheats and my marine failed his save. My friend now has a joke about how my marines like to kill themselves......
I was in an RTT where I was playing KoS Orks and my opponent was playing terminators.
Turn 2, I was trying to plan my assault, and I was asking my opponent about the various terminators and what they had equipped - it basically came down to the fact that no matter what I assaulted where, my boyz were going to die. Every terminator had a power weapon, powerfist, lightning claw...it was insane.
I broke Ghazghkull Thraka off from his Nobs, and Ghazghkull made a solo assault against his terminator mob (after declaring a Waaaugh!) Ghazghkull single-handedly won the game. It was priceless.
And another story; my wife's first game with DeffKoptas, she dropped a Big Bomb from a Deffkopta and it scattered onto herself. She was so mad that she hasn't ever used Deffkoptas again.

Ghaz is IMO arguably the baddest mother on a battle field.
Mine, when I play SM I NEVER buy lascannons simply because in the years Ive played SM I honestly think Ive only killed one or two things with a lascannon. Never vehicles or big badasses that would need one.
Another, the first game I played with my Orks, my brother fielded a pretty badass SM force lead by a Commander with a relic blade. well My Orks were really kicking SM ass the only losses I suffered really was from running towards him while he was shooting. once in CC I was handing it to him. ANYWHO so after one real nice turn for me, he started running his commander towards my warboss and was like "ok lets do this man to man" SO being ballsy I said why not. Next turn he assaults my boss does his thing and hits my boss 4 times. My boss had cybork body, so I had 4 5+ saves to make. Made all 4 then turned and landed all 5 klaw hits on him and he failed all 5 it was a great moment I knew I won the game after that
Me winning a game with just my warboss and a PK nob squad leader. Both of them were down to one wound. Last turn, they charge my opponent's tactial squad sitting on his home objective. They score no wounds, I kill 6 and watch as they run off the board, leaving me holding the only objective.
A ten man Deathwing squad and Chaplin deep striking shot 3 marines in my combat squad then my bolt pistol killed one and the heavy bolter killed 3! then the Vindicator came and shot... killed all of them. Woooot!
About fourteen years ago I often played with this some guys from work, one of which was ridiculiously competative. This is the type that was a rules lawyer when he thought it favored him but would badger you to just go with it for the sake of flow when looking up a rule that could favor me or anyone else. He was Space Marines (and yes he is one of the reasons I hate Smurfs) and I was Orks. We had set up a scenario in which I was on defense with Orks (yeah, weird huh). I made my list well enough and manuevered my forces in a way that he really wasn't able to break my defenses (actually it wasn't too hard against him as he wasn't very imaginative in his tactics). Attrition was taking it's toll on both sides but he still had a rhino full of his prized Hawai'ian Warrior themed (no not Rainbow Warriors, some other Hawai'ian title I don't remember) Terminators. He decided to assault my position finally hoping to break my back. I was able to cut off his rhino with my War Boss and the WB's remaining retinue and before he could deploy I blew up his rhino and prized Termie group. He was so mad he actually kicked me and our buddy (waiting to play the winner with Eldar) out of his house! I thought it was hilarious but our buddy was actually pretty pissed off. the SM guy wouldn't play for a couple of months with any of our usual group.
Ghaz is IMO arguably the baddest mother on a battle field.
QFT!
on his waaagh! move he is unstoppable, he can never be killed via instant death, and with 7 S10 attacks on the charge, the enemy will die!
throw a unit of mega nobz with him and not only would you be taking the fire from someones entire army, but you would probly shrug it off XD
My ten man ig squad all with flashlights firing on my opponent's maxed out stealthsuits and killing them to a man first turn! FEAR THE RAPID FIRE AP- OF DOOM!!
just last week I watched 6 thunderhammer+stormshield terminators slap my Bloodthirster to death while receiving no wounds themselves. On my following turn, all 6 were slain before attacking by, well, a living carpet of nurglings.
a few months back, I had an opponent concede the game before turn 1's assault phase had started: In his Black Templar army, 3 of his 20-strong crusader squads all took a handful of casualties, promptly failed their leadership and fled off the board.
i know this is 40k and all, but i have had a pretty funny WHFB moment
long story short, 1 won 1st turn (using tomb kings against skaven)
fired both my screaming skull catapaults at him, causing over 80% of his army to run off the board on the 1st turn lol
managed to win the game without losing a single model.
I place Medallion crimson on my Imperial guard general so he won't die from the first instant death only to have him get hit by two instant deaths in a row. LOL
One of my ratlings rolled snake eyes for moral (he was the last man standing), then he beat the snot out of a Termie. My friend Matt laughed so hard Mt. Dew came out his nose. My friend Joe was pissed. Unlucky for the ratling a chaplain smacked him with a powerfist, and the ratling was no-more.
My first game using a Mech with SAG and I was playing against Dark Eldar. I shot down a raider with 10 wytches and went to finish them off with the SAG. Needless to say I role double 5's and oops there goes my SAG into CC with 10 Wyches.

In a recent game of Apocalypse my Slaanesh Sorcere threw a Vortex Grenade at a damaged Stompa and caused an apocalyptic explosion at the full 18". Since this thing was in the centre of 4 armies (2 Chaos and 2 Orks) in the center of the board well.... Every piece of terrain was destroyed, every vehicle was blown up (about 6) and almost every squad was wiped out entirely.
And the Sorcerer who threw the grenade... he was sucked into the Vortex as it scattered onto himself and the Stompa
My Vyper getting killed by it's own Plasma missile was pretty entertaining. My Fire Prism (which can never hit anything...) finding it has a knach for one shotting walkers and any surrounding squads. Three times in different games, I fire it at a dread first turn. Killing the dread and 4 or 5 marines each time.
I play Chaos now, so It should be interesting to see what happens...
I have one, I have a junior officer with a lone flamer get jumped my a lictor. The lictor whiffs all of his attacks and gets promptly beat down by the junior officer. I just love to visualise where he stuck the chain sword.
vs A Thousand Sons Rhino containing a Chaos Lord and his CSM squad body guard is racing toward the ranks of the White Scars, the Missile launcher off the tactical squad fails to damage it. The Dreadnought misses (even with a TL Lascannon...) the commander rolls his eyes, hefts his plasma pistol, and blasts the tank apart, killing all passengers except the Lord and the CSM Aspiring Champion
One of my first games I was playing Chaos. It was a 4-way with Ultramarines 4th Company, the Black Templars, Hive Fleet Behemoth and my home grown Khornate Legion.
We decided to play to the last army standing. I utterly decimated the Black Templars. Then, 4th Company turned their guns on my army and proceeded to wipe the floor with them.
My last guy, a normal CSM, retreated right into a spore mine and promptly died.
I played a game the other day, and I have a pile of Gretchen (29) sitting in the middle of the table holding an objective. My opponent assaulted my gretchin with Abbadon, who is the bringer of doom for Chaos. He assaulted into cover, so I got to go first...
My gretchin needing 5s to hit, 6s to wound in close combat.
I caused him one wound, which he failed.
In return, he gets 5+d6 attacks, unless he rolls a 1, in which case he takes a wound and makes no attacks.
My opponent rolled a 1, and took another wound. =p I won combat by two with my gretchin!
DaRealJDB wrote:Once one of my grotz actually killed something.

my attack bikes commonly kill 30 man squads of grechin by themselfs.
I remember the 1st time my usual oppontet used the shokk attack gun , I was scared shitless (this was 4th ed) I was using necrons and the very 1st turn, I range sniped his big mekk with a hvy destroyer. What else...
Because of my textured tabe, I commonly roll sevens, and we count it as an auto sucess. That has made interesting situations.
OOh! one a warboss on bike assaulted my guardsmen and was just wreaked! CODFTW!
Probably the game where :
My Opponents Vindy shot missed my 'Fex, scattered onto his Dread' and Blew it up,
My Lictor Single-handedly cleaned an objective of his scout squad, then sat there twiddleing it's thumbs for the rest of the game,
My Carnifex single-handedly whiped the floor with a Venerable Dreadnaught, Master of the Forge and a Servitor, in the Round they charged, Then Killed the other Servi, before being beaned by a lone Krak Missile,
My T. gaunts out of Synapse passed a Ld test,
In turn 5, my opponent had his Vindy and 2 Tactical Marines, I had my whole army, roll to see if we continue, roll 2, and my gaunts are a mere 2" from controlling the Objective (WoN), and his remnants hold an objective (sigh...)
My friend for some reason loaded his grey knight terminators with the chapter master(is this right) in a chimera (can he do this? he deep struck them, scattered and decided they would hitch a ride) there was 5 terminators and his master, i fired my autocannon squad at it, hit with 4 rolled FOUR 6s to penetrate then proceeded to roll a 5 to destroy it (highest roll) rolling to wound all of his terminators was some luck but he rolled FIVE ones.... 5 of 6 terminators died getting out a chimera i just love to think about them all getting stuck fighting who gets out first lol
Seeing a dragon fly.
It was many years ago during Hero Hammer; We had this big goofy guy with basby teeth who just had a foul foul temper anyway he was playing High Elves against a Khorne Chaos army that was just geared out heroes, he flew his like 12 point telion or something like that High Elf Lord into combat with a champion of khorne, I dont know exactly what the guy had but he ended up playing some of those Chaos gift Cards onthe figure that accepted the challenge. Anyway he killed the drago and then since he had rows of halberds he ended up killing the high elf lord.
The guy picked up his dragon and through it a good 20 feet into a shelf at the front of the store smashing it into a million pieces.
I recently had a game where my Gunfex sitting at the back of my army assaulted a drop podded dreadnought...and won after 4 turns. Shot it first with my weapons but no damage then charged in. First turn he rolls triple 1's to hit, I retaliate and destroy it cc weapon. Next turn he again fails to hit and I rip off its multimelta arm. Third turn I immobilize it and in the final turn he STILL misses and I promptly rip it apart. I just imagine my fex playing with it like a cat with a mouse.
It was at the Exterminatus (a 5 round tourney in the Atlanta), palying against a Chaos player. This was two years ago in 4th ed.
The mission was an odd one with basically a Dawn of War deployment with quartered Deployment zones. Everything not on-table was in Reserves.
He brought in a squad of 2 Obliterators and a Dread at the closest point along his long edge to my DZ. the Dread rolled "Fire Frenzy" and the Oblits walked forward (in front of the Dread!). He started to see if there was any of my Eldar in range of the Dread and I said "what armament does it have?" He said, sadly "a Multi-melta... " . LOL nothing of mine was in range so it would have to fire twice into the Oblits. He realized he could fire the Dread last so proceeded to fire with the Oblits and his other two CSM squads. Nothing hit or wounded anything of mine.
Hoping his bad rolls hold out he rolls his two MM shots on his Oblits, two hits, two wounds, two failed saves, two dead Oblits!
3rd turn he gets in a big sqaud of Raptotrs and flies them in from the same point to get as close to my stationary Eldar as possible (still in front of my favorite Dread). The Dread rolls another "fire Frenzy" result, killing two Raptors!!!
4th turn I put him out of his misery and killed the Dread for him, although it had scored me about 220 points!
Round 5, annihilation scenario. Not much left on the table Had 2 Dire Avengers left on one table quarter, big, badass librarian (with 3 wounds) charges, kills one dire avenger, the exarch causes one wound, librarian fails Diresword LD test = dead librarian.
My opponent hadn't even heard of a diresword... that death sealed the game.
Well, this was from a 3rd Edition game (I haven't played in years and am just coming back now to play Orks) and it was my Space Marines all-infantry army teamed up with a Sisters army, fighting against Chaos and Orks.
Some where around turn 3 a full unit of Ork trukk boyz zoomed up and unloaded in front of my 5-man devastator squad armed with missile launchers that had been busily shredding his foot boyz with massed templates and eliminated his Dread on turn 1.
Kiss the Dev's goodbye eh?
The 12 trukk boyz assaulted and via curse of the fickle dice gods only scored 1 unsaved wound against my 5 Marines who managed to score 2 wounds back.
The Orks lost combat, routed and rolled a 1 for fleeing and were promptly caught and eliminated by my 4 chasing Marines. I don't know which of us looked more stunned, me or the Ork player?
Btw, the 4 missile launcher Devs survived the game and continued their template party against his foot units.
Having my Dark Eldar Archon wounded 21 times with str 6 weapons (from a warwalker squadron) and making all 21 2+ saves (opponents reaction was hilarious)
In 4th against old codex chaos: Having a unit of guard in cover get assualted by a 10 strong unit of daemonettes winning combat by one and watching the demons fail their instability roll. Then next round a chaos lord assualts the same squad and over 3 turns of combat is summarily bayonetted to death by the squad, YO JOE!
First game with my Lash Prince resulted in failing 4 rolls taking two wounds and the fifth roll gave two 1's finally killing my Prince... For long time I had a serious mental trauma because of this...
The other day I lost all but 11 Boyz from the Slugga mob when group of Termies showed up next to them. Sluggas survived all incoming fire and I thought "oh, what the hell" and charged killing 4 of Termies, the last one pissed his pants and got owned in sweeping advance. I thought my opponent would cry.
In my first game that i used conscripts i had a 50 man squad with 5 flamers that charged a 3 man squad of Grey Knight termies with a justicar. only one consript survived but he contested the objective na won me the game. go go conscripts
first time playing my friends necron, first turn i had a squad of 3 standard ork bikers advance and shoot his res orb lord.
The lord took enough wounds to drop it, failed its saves, and didn't get back up.
My friend just sort of stood there looking a bit sad
Me and my brother played kill teams very recently, me with orks, himself with kroot and tau. The end result was 3 turns, 1 wound on his xv8 and all of my orks dead.
watch this and you will see what i mean!
Once when I was playing against orks, I decided to ram a trukk with my hellhound. The result was 1 immobilized trukk and a shaken hellhound.
I was quite angry at the fact that the trukk was still there so next turn I proceeded to move my demolisher within range and fired. The shot scattered on top of my hellhound and I rolled a 6 for armor penetration and then a 5 for my results roll. I told my opponent that I hated that hellhound anyways and that it was no big deal.
In another game, a squad of dire avengers took out one of my sentinels(back in 4th edition) and annihilated it. The resulting explosion took out 6 dire avengers and caused a wound on an attached asurmen.
In a recent apocalypse match, my ally had taken the ork rok strategic asset. the first shot scattered 4 feet off the table. however the second landed directly on top of a grey knight land raider, inqusitor and his retinue,a squad of grey knights and a squad of teminators. it killed everything except terminators, which my warboss and his nobz promptly charged with all 6 of their power klaws.
I went second, so had the advantage of on the last turn (T7 no less) i knew what I had to do. We were drawn on Kill Points, and he had an Imbobilised Trukk with no weapons left. There was one of my drop pods from T1, still fine, pretty close though, but i thought I'll risk it.
Fired my vindicator at the trukk (it was the only thing in range, and I had to kill something, the rest of my marines were locked in CC with more boyz than they could theoretically kill in 1 turn of assault) and what do ya know, the bloody thing scatters JUST enough for the hole to land on my drop pod and miss the trukk utterly.
I proceeded to then roll a Penetrating hit and a Wrecked on the damage table, handing my opponent the win.
A few months ago I was in a small 1000 pt tournament. My mate took his Eldar and in two consecutive games on the first psychic power of each game, his farseer got perils of the warp and died by instant death! It was priceless.
Another good moment was my only ever game against Dark Eldar. I was playing against a bit of a bad sport and he had been boasting about how hard his Archon (or whatever they are called) was and that this model alone could take down greater demons and Eldar Avatars and that he was gonna chew through my Nids. We'll, on his first turn he belted up to my lines in a raider, disembarked, but was out of assault range. My first turn, I shot him with a few spinefists, he rolled a double one for his shadowfield (loosing his invulnerable save for the rest of the game) and then my Broodlord with +1 initiative assaulted him and tore him to pieces. Job done.
Not so much funny as satisfying after all the bad sportsmanship leading up to the game.
one of them, a 10 man space wolf grey hunter squad (2nd edition) was charged by a unit of 12 genestealers, the genestealers kill all but 1 marine.... and that one marine proceeds to finish off the 12 genestealers
(that marine got a special paintjob for that)
in that same game (it was 2v2 match) my teammate had a vortex grenade hidden in his scout squad, and he charged into a lictor to use the grenade as a suicide move. i did not realize this so i took some pop-shots with my bolter marines who were close by, only 1 shot hit the scouts, it just so happen to hit the one scout holding the nade, and it just so happen to kill him... so no more vortex grenade.
another time (in WHFB) i had a block of 30 zombies and my girlfriend charged into the flank with a Bloodthirster, she was tearing through them in fistfulls, but on the 3rd turn of combat (huzzah for invocation of nehek, and raising more zombies) she wiffed her attacks, so i won combat from ranks and outnumbering, she had to take a demonic instability test and POP, no more bloodthirster
the crappiest unit in the game took out a bloodthirster, i was so proud.
Another time, back in second edition, space pupps vs ultramarines, the game came down to one of my grey hunter squads, ragnar, and my dreadnaught, vs Calgar.
i was able to charge with everything in 1 turn, i did not realize that Calgar has a special item that made having extra people in close combat not effect his ability to absolutely crush you...
Anhilation+Spearhead. Nids VS. CSM. Had 3 units of 'Stealers outflanking. 2nd Turn, roll 5,4,3... Lictor gives me a re-roll... 4. Opponent is on the left flank... 6,1,5. All 3 Genestealer broods arrive, proceed to roll up his army to win.
I had one funny moment, 4e a sqaud of genestealers charged my Shas'O. He promply lost but lived afterwards, in which he used a failsafe detonator. Took the whole sqaud of them with me
I posted this in the "Space hulk, what is it?" thread, after reading the above about the 1 SM killing 12 stealers I thought it deserved to be here
My brother, a mate and i were playing space hulk one night and my brother was down to his last terminator
my mate was spawning his blips from the mearest point and charging down the corridor at him
My brother sat on OW and killed 99 stealers (I gak YOU NOT) before he decided to leave the board...
-------------------
In reference to that story i wanted to check my memory (ITS BEEN LIKE 17 YEAR) So i went and checked the maps for the missions (which you can find here http://spacehulk.barsoom.cc/mirrors/shc/ to see if i could find the right one.
It was this mission Mission three: Rescue I am pretty sure we got the cat out and my brother was on the way off the board with his last termi when he decided to turn around and play target practice with the stealers.
The red dot is where he stood shooting and the Purple square is where my mate spawned his blips (had to be purple for stealers )
I played an Apoc game last week that was just rife with hilarious moments and amusing anecdotes. My favorites were these two:
I had a spare rhino that didn't have anything to do one turn after dumping a payload of Berzerkers on an objective. About 11 inches away there was a full wound, angry CC-fex getting ready to charge my allies titan on its next assault phase. I thought, what the hell, and tank shocked it with the rhino. Declaring that no Carnifex would jsut 'step out of the way', he rolled a death or glory attack, which penetrated (of course) unfortunately for him, the damage roll was a weapon destroyed roll, and his Carnifex went down, no saves or anything. So, I lost a 15 point havoc launcher upgrade and took out a massive fex (dont know the points cost on it). The look on his face was golden.
In that same battle, my allies and I had control of an objective that sat on top of a multilevel bunker - about 4 floors in all, and the roof. (I think it was a necromunda building, actually). According to apoc rules, you can actually destroy buildings like that. So, we had a squad of about 8 marines on top of the bulding, guarding the objective, and a total of 44 Fire Warriors and 6 Pathfinders camped in the middle floors, with 5 terminators at the bottom. About halfway through the game, this dominating pillar of firepower was struck by an eldar psychic bombardment. It eradicated the swuad on top, and collapsed the building, killing one terminator, and about half the tau, including most of the pathfinders. Needless to say, a game tha twas looking like an easy win for us up until then very suddenly became a very close draw.
Che-Vito wrote:Happened today actually:
King of the Hill Game:
1500 points of Tau and 1500 points of SM v.s.
3000 points of Ghaz's Boyz
SM commander called in an orbital strike, came down with scatter onto a Battlewagon in the middle of the formation of Boyz, strike penetrated and blew the Wagon up, hitting everything within 5 inches. Part of the original blast template also hit both Ghaz and the other HQ choice (generic Warboss). Both were killed by the strike, and between that, the Boyz in the Wagon and those surrouding it, roughly 25 Boyz plus both HQ choices were lost in a single attack.
Bummer for the Ork player then, as he should've caught this.
I'll remember this for the future, thank you.
You're welcome.
So, I was playing a game today, 3000 points, and the guy was playing 3 Lith and tons of Warriors.
He had 3 Warriors in Reserve to come via the liths, T2 all 3 liths come down, but fails to get any warriors in. I then blow up ALL 3 MONOLITHS. One was with a glancing hit too (AP1 is so much fun ;p)
5 Assault Terminators taking 7 wounds from rapid firing Necron Warriors. " Hell yea I'm going to kill at least one of those b*stards now!" he said. Well, enough said. 4 died due to my horrible rolling...
Another one was my friends statistics of saving throws during the 3 first turns of one game. 11/13 3+ saves failed. It was pretty hilarious.
And now for the classic. I had 3 Terminators left, charging my opponents Gretchin mob with about 9 Grot and 1 Handler-thing. These 3 Terminatours had Thunder Hammers so attacked last. Handler killed one with his poisoned attack and Grots killed the remaining two Terminators with a good stab!
Hi in one battle I was facing My mates 3 carnifexes geanstealer horde with 8 hormogaunts on one side I had taken heavy bolters and a defiler and some berzerkers Hormogaunts charge and kill 10 Zekers without losing any of their own and I killed a carnifex with a bolt pistol and one with a chainsword while the 3power hit them a total of 20 times and did absolutely nothin then a different game I had taken an anti fex squad with lascannon and plasma gun after 6 turns it was them 5 genestealers one full wound fex one fex on 1 wound 1 warrior and those 8 hormogaunts then a differet game hewas my ally against marines we had killed a dread and 1 dev marine with bolter I then deepstriked 2 termi lords with khorne daemon weapon and 7 termis with lightning claws reaper and MoK on the roof of the building with scouts devs and curiosly a dread they barely fit on top of Wiped out the dread then the devs then missed the scouts the scouts wounded a lord once and they all die from no retreat the scouts missile launcher then over 4 turns blew up my land raider by blowig its guns and tracks off luckily I slaughtered them with 40 Zerkers so they shall not be battle brothers
playing a team battle i found my ork psycher zogwort, face to face with the nightbringer. who i turned into a squig.
pretty much the single most demoralizing move i ever made against them.loool
My buddy's C'Tan getting into base contact with my Noise marines (ten of them), and not getting a single casualty with the gaze ability.... kept him tied up for 3 turns there...
During one of my first games not knowing much about the rules or tactics i was fighting some nids in a tourny at my FLGS and after doing some shoot jump shoot jump with my crisis suits i weighed my options and charged a group of warriors, the room went quiet when they heard the tau player actually charged INTO combat, the room exploded when the warriors whiffed and my crisis suits sent em running. Still lost the game but it was a moral victory
About a month later i was playing a friend of mine who is much more experienced and has a far better list than me playing plague marines and I'll tell you what toughness 5 is annoying =P so with my half hearted list that ended up having a squad of gun drones ended up charging into a group of marines not only won combat but chased em down and shot em to death, who knew i could roll that many 6's? My friends angry 'dance' was hillarious
My friend told me a story of a big game him and his friend was playing 2 chaos players vs 2 guard players well one of the guard players finished his turn and went to the bath room while he was gone his friend threw a grenade while standing near his friends tanks well apparently a strong wind picked up as it scattered back 6" blew up the tosser and 2 of his friends tanks. He came back from the bathroom and was so very confused as to how his tanks could have been destroyed on his allies turn.
I've played three games with a Mek and a SAG against my friend's Salamander's army. Each time I've shot him I'm rolled doubles twice during the game. Once I blew up a unit of my Shootaz, I've shot my own Mek into a Land Raider in a desperate attempt to destroy it, and I wiped out three of his units on a double-six roll with a HIT for scatter.
anyone got any ideas for making gretchin look more elite?
played a tau player a few days ago, and as usual i run 2 units of 20 gretchin.
once they got to shoot, both units fire at 10 fire warriors, killing all of them, then then went on to kill another unit of FW's in assault, and also killing off the suit leader and his unit (unsure of the leaders name, im no good with tau names )
im just amused that grotz seem to be overall better than FW's, simply for 3 points each i may get rid of da boyz and take more gretchin
i like the FW parts idea, i might make one of the grot leaders with a form of pulse pistol.
could allways use the head comm parts from the tau (random things stuck to the FW's heads) and put them on the grotz aswell as upgrading thier guns
I was playing a small game against eldar. Now, we had taken about 1,000 points each, he had his avatar and I had my leman russ for our heavy hitters.
My leman rus was mopping up infantry when the avatar came along. My infantry platoon was on the other side of the field save for one squad. The squad had a lascannon so I fired at the avatar, causing a wound. Now the avatar only had one wound left. I fired for my guys and they hit the avatar 3 times, each doing nothing.
I only had my sgt left. He fired his laspistol and I rolled a 1. My opponent laughed, and then I told him that I had sharpshooters so I could reroll my one. We both thought it would do nothing, but I rolled anyways. I rolled a 6 to hit and another 6 to wound. My opponent made his role and got a 1. The look on his face was priceless and I screamed "Holy gak, a laspistol took out your avatar!". Everyone else in the gaming store looked and laughed, its not something you see everyday I guess.

uhm.... I dont think you guys played Kill teams with the right rules. I dont remember it exactly (I dont have that rulebook handy) But I do remember you couldnt take anything with a armor save better then 3+ and Im sorta sure you couldnt take multi wound models
Ok Ive got the king all be all retartedness of random things happening.
In 4th edition I was playing my oldest brother. SM VS SM It was a 1200pt game. We were pretty close and nearing the end. I had a dred and a tactical squad left, he had a dred and a tactical squad left. So the tacticals were dukeing it out and we decided to go dred to dred. He immobilized mine and destroyed everything but the bolter thats on the CC arm. So he decides to leave my dred for now, kill my tac squad and then finish me off. But on my turn I say screw it and shoot the bolter into the back of the dred, rolled 2 6s and blew his dred up with bolter fire. I ended up winning simply because what was left of his tac squad couldnt destroy my dred. It was hilarious
its worth a shot and they seem to do some pretty decent things every time i use them, from beating termies in combat to out shooting tau.
just need to find someone using a greater daemon now, and ill test them a bit more (or get them all slaughtered in the process)
A squad of my guardsmen were shot down by my enemies tau fire warriors after taking another squad out in assault and only my veteran sergeant with stormbolter and melta bombs survived (4th edition rules ftw) since the enemy didn't feel like wasting an entire squads shooting to take him out i had him move slowly towards an enemy hammerhead. My sergeant actually managed to assault the rear armor with his bombs and score a penetrating hit that made the vehicle explode. my Sergeant definately earned his points that game. 1 hammerhead and 4 fire warriors.
Last week i was playing a 550point game i think with my orkz vs my friends space marines. It was objective based DoW game and i was running 3 mobs of boyz and some lootas he had one tac squad 2 combat squads and vindi. The first turn, he takes out 6 guys in one mob i pass the moral test. The beginning of the second turn, he shreds one mob with bolters and the vindi it fails its moral an i take it off the board. My turn i glance the vindi to death with the lootas and charge one of the combat squads with the low strenght mob and another full mob, and somehow fail to kill it with 2 pks and almost 25 boyz, dropping the already low strenght mob down to 6 boyz and nob. Third turn, his assault he drops the low mob to 3 boyz and nob, i finally finish it off. My turn, i move the almost full mob to charge his other combat squad and leave the almost dead squad alone when i realize i need to actually hold my objective if i dont want to lose, so i run them 18 inches in two turns to take the objective. He realizes that with only 4 models left he only needs one kill to make me take a moral test that i would probably fail making the unit sitting on the objective flee off the board. I'll save some time and just skip to during the next 3 turns he takes five krak missle shots and 1, 1, 2, 1, 2, . Thanks to him focusing on the small group objective sitting i managed to run up the mob and kill the other combat squad, however the tac squad managed to kill my mob before the game ended stoping me from contesting his objective and making it a tie not only in objectives, but kill points. I couldnt stop laughing because his marines that are always obscene in shooting managed to miss five shots in a row when getting just one wound would have won him the game.
i was brand new to the game and i was playing space wolves against my buddie's tau. Basically his army did what they do best and shot my entire army to death with barely any wounds except my wolf lord. Who went on with only one wound left to pretty much massacre his entire army by himself goin from cc to cc. I passed over 60 armor saves and over 50 invul saves in the process. Near the end i finally fail one armor save and my buddy is jumping up and down with glee shouting "Finally he's dead that frinker is finally dead" I slowly pick up the one failed armor save and tell him its not over yet. he looks at me in disbelief and i show him the rule for runic charm which allowed me to re-roll one failed armor save. I go on killing a few more things until he only has 2 steath suits and a hammerhand left. hammerhead killed the wolf lord in the end and i lost but still that wolf lord earned his reputation that day.
I love it when things like that happen. Once a ways back, I played chaos. One match I remember It was me vs SM and I had a squad with a pretty badass aspiring champion in it. The SM killed the whole squad except the champ. That one champ went on to kill 2 tac. squads and wound his commander. Pretty hardcore champion lol
I played a SM buddy of mine in a 1500-point game. I was playing IG and we were doing DOW deployment with a special twist (don't know why we did it...) where you can put as many units as you want on the board instead of the usual 1 HQ 2 Troops. He put his termie squad of 5 guys with t-hammers right across from my deployment line and set up all of his other guys (8 combat squads, 4 rhinos, 5 Sternguard, Devs, a Predator, one Dred, a LRC, and some commander guy) in a line right in front of my guys. I was like oh noooes!! So I proceed to seize the initiative, and, first shot, blow up the dred with 1 Lacannon shot, killing 3 Marines with it. Then It took 3 ML shots destroy 1 weapon and stun the LR, which was finished off by a random melta guy that had accidentally been included in my list, killing his commander and the 5 sternguard riding with him. Then a trio of Autocannons (HWTsftw!) thrice-immoblized the Pred (side armor) making it destroyed. My Leman Russ killed 8 guys and then my Demolisher killed 6 more in the form of his devastator squad. Flashlights and Heavy weapons/special weapons rapid-fired and killed another 18. My chimeras killed 2 rhinos and immoblilized the a third. Unfortunately, I forgot about his termies, who were right by my 5-man veteran squad with 3 meltas. I shot the meltas, which whiffed, but my Vet. Sarge with a laspistol and 2 rapidfiring lasguns killed all five! I was feeling really good, so I said f-it, I'll just flamer a combat squad with my flamer-suicide Command and charge in to any stragglers since my officer has a power weapon. My 4 flamers scored 19 hits on his combat squad and they all burned. My commander then assaulted the 2nd to last combat squad that was untouched so far and killed 3 (HSObtw) while the other two were bludgeoned to death by the rest of the squad. All he had left was a rhino, an immobilized rhino, and two combat squads with a third one at 2 man strength (who was busy running away). Needless to say, he was so pissed that he charged my command squad who had used their consolidation to form up into COD (can you do that?) at which point I killed him before he could strike back. He moved his guys back to an objective in the middle of the board and was able to run and claim it (our store was closing, so he technically could have a draw if we each had 1 objective each). Unfortunately for him, the manager was nice enough to allow us to finish. I killed the rest of his army that next turn. Most awesome stat ever: NO CASUALTIES IN A 1500-pt GAME!!!!! All my guys got a nicer paint job as reward for a job well done !!
Firing my LRBT at a regular squad of SM since I couldn't see his command squad, and it scattering right onto the Command Squad killing most of them. Then the squad being finished off by a HW squad of lascannons.
Ages ago, before I left the game for the first time, I was playing 'nids. I was fighting against a CSM army. It was 5th turn I think, maybe 6th. Near the end, you know? Anyhow, my Close-combat fex charges out of cover and into his Land Raider carrying terms and a lord that was heading towards my warriors. The raider blew up, took my already wounded 'fex down, he managed to fail every save inside, and so everybody died.
Of course, this left me with a group of three warriors on one side of the board hiding out of sight of his last five or six sound marines, and a few good hormagaunts. We called it at a draw.
I was watching my friends play once. Eldar vs Tau. It had come to a tense moment when there was a face off [ranged] with 1 gun drone against an Avatar.
The drone won
shot down the avatar, my tau playing friend could not believe it, me and him laughed so hard we almost fell to the ground while my other friend almost burst into tears, but then he laughed after a while.
