Well,
We had a previous thread on this topic which had quite a bit of information regarding Gorilla Tactics and the fact that they are no longer taking orders and appear to be closing down shop.
Unfortunately, a few posters started to drag the thread off-topic despite the fact that it is important news that those with orders pending with the company would definitely be interested in seeing.
Soooo, I was going to delete all the off-topic posts to keep the thread on-topic and relevant and in my sleep-deprived haste I managed to (like an idiot) delete the whole thread.
So I'm sorry for those who took the time to post in the thread before, perhaps you can share you information and experiences again for the benefit of everyone. My sincerest apologies for wasting your time with a boneheaded mistake on my part.
Anyway, I'll repost what I had posted previously: Gorilla Tactics has indeed contacted me and asked me to remove their banners from the site and mentioned that they did not want to spend any more money. That's all the information I can personally attest to, but others definitely have more information that hopefully they will share again.
Sorry again!

I was wondering what happened...
Again, PLEASE keep this thread on topic.
A lot of people are currently out a LOT of money, so any and all pertinent information will be greatly appreciated.

Ugh.
I love you guys, really I do.
But clearly neither of you are currently owed anything by GORILLA TACTICS.

I'm still owed stuff by Gorilla tactics. Seriously, have you made your SHIPMENT e-mail yet? I'll tell my entire story in detail right now I guess.
My friend and I ordered about $300 worth of stuff from them. I was getting a bunch of stuff for my space marine army, and I was buying him a bunch of stuff to get him started on a Necrons army, because I owed him some money anyway, and we like to combine shipping.
Anyway, through the scare of "Gorilla tactics is down, maybe they're scammers after all!", I got worried, and placed a SHIPMENT e-mail as advised. It took a bit for the guy to get back to me, but when he did he explained the situation. He was going to ship out the stuff he had (oddly almost all of the space marine stuff was in, but he had none of the necrons stuff). I agreed to a bunch of items, as well as a few extra items, because given that his business is going down and he's selling off all his collectibles, I would rather get a few extra models I wasn't planning on buying, rather than making him pay back the leftover of the money.
Anyway, we settled that through the phone, and I told him I would need some time to think of other models I actually wanted to purchase. He e-mailed me this morning saying that he would try and call me this evening to sort out the last of the models he is going to send me, and hopefully in a few weeks, I will have my models at my door. If I get them, I will gladly post back here. If not, then I will admit to being scammed, though I personally feel that this is unlikely, especially after the big Black Friday super sale that SEVERAL people were satisfied with.

Are they not shipping any pending orders they have?

G Tactics doesn't actually owe me anything, but I can vouch for them. They are not scammers or trying to steal anyone's money. From what I gathered from the now deleted thread a personal issue arose that has prevented gorilla tactics from functioning. I have made a few orders through them in the past and have always had above satisfactory service.
I can't speak for those who do have pending orders, but I would say be patient as the owner sorts out all the remaining orders left to fill.

Yes, I HAVE made my "SHIPMENT" e-mail and it looks like 50% of the miniatures I'm owed are in and will ship... sometime.
I was told they wold ship yesterday, but they did not.
I have sent ANOTHER "SHIPMENT" e-mail today, with no reply yet.
I have also not been told what will happen with the other 50% of my order.
Up until this point, I've had no issue whatsoever with GT, so I am hopeful that everything will work out.
The lack of and/or spotty communication to date is frustrating, but understandable.
Still, at some point, he really should make a statement and 'bulk e-mail' his client list.

Guys, it's good to hear that he said he'd ship your stuff. Hopefully, by next week, everything is in and you're all squared away.

Yes, I totally agree that the communication has been pretty sparse and dodgy, but I'm cutting the guy a lot of slack here, because I know when I have personal issues, I have major issues just functioning on a day by day basis. I wouldn't care at all about some kids plastic minis. Then again, that's why I don't own a gaming store.

On Sunday, I was told that my miniatures would ship on Monday.
On Monday when I asked if they shipped, I was told no, but that my shipment would go out on Tuesday.

The frustrating part is that I'll get a e-mail saying that stuff will ship, but then it never does and then it is back to radio silence.
I've just about had it and am ready to post everything I've heard, because the details don't add up or make sense and I'm at my limit.
Nevermind the fact that I still haven't got an answer on the rest of my order that was still back ordered.
At this point, I'd be happy to receive what is allegedy already in his hands and allegedly all ready to ship.

Okay, I gave him an ultimatum the first time we had phone contact. I needed a DC number by last Monday or I was going through paypal. If youre shipping anyway its not that hard to do.
I then gave him an email warning Monday morning, and another email with additional 24 hours Tuesday and yesterday.
NOT good.

I've ordered twice from GT since their Black Friday sale, and both times I've not had a problem, although their turnaround time to shipping was a little slower than someone like Neil at The Warstore.
I'll miss 'em. That discount was terrific, and I didn't mind being patient for some savings.

Hi all -
I haven't dealt with Gorilla Tactics but that's only because my budget prevented me from doing so. From what I've read previously, he seems to be a decent sort and many of you chose to do business with him because of that reputation and the recommendations of others here.
Now, also from what I've read previously, it seems like something tragic has happened in his life. I understand it's difficult to give the benefit of the doubt when you have money invested but, please, try to be patient with him. I don't know his situation but if he has a loved-one in the hospital (someone mentioned his wife was in a car accident) responding to threatening e-mails, let alone trying to run a dying business will be the last thing on his mind.
If you don't trust that he will, or can, complete your orders, cancel them with your credit cards to get the money back.
Just my 2 cents having been faced with some unexpected circumstances myself.
I hope things work out for everyone, including Gorilla Tactics.

Let's keep all posts in this thread fact-based, please. Makes it easier to sort through things if you're trying to resolve open orders.
Thank you.
EDIT - This means the topic of people who are currently dealing with Gorilla Tactics. Asides, opinions and good references are off-topic. I will be cleaning up the thread, including some of my posts.

Just out of curiosity in situations like this, would telling Gorilla tactic to cancel the orders work?
Might cut down the number of stressed buyer along with himself no?

Post by: Alpharius
Sadly, I don't think it would.
I'm fairly sure that the merchandise HAS been ordered and is either waiting to be shipped from his location or waiting to be shipped to him from his distributor's location.
As an update to my status with him:
On Sunday, I was told that my miniatures would ship on Monday.
On Monday when I asked if they shipped, I was told no, but that my shipment would go out on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, repeated attempts to confirm shipping and/or get a tracking number went unanswered.
On Wednesday I received an e-mail stating that he had "made a ton of shipments" but apparently not mine, but that he thought he'd be "making the rest in the morning".
On Thursday I've asked for confirmation (and a tracking number if possible!) of shipping, but no word yet.
I've even gone so far as to help cover any additional shipping costs, once I receive confirmation and a tracking number, but nothing yet.

Guys, based on what I've seen on Btown, things are falling into a certain well-defined "pattern" of activity that many of us have seen before. Based on what has been shared, things don't look good for any of you.
Your best bet is partial recovery based on negotiating with the seller. The problem is that he's stonewalling you. Whether this is intentional / malicious / screwup / whatever, doesn't really matter anymore. The question is what you do going forward.
If you paid by check or money order, you'll probably have to file small claims court. You'll probably win a default judgment, but good luck on collecting from him. Net result after time and expenses is probably zero recovery.
If you paid by PayPal, most likely that money is long gone. Even if PayPal finds in your favor, it's not likely there will be any money for them to recover. If so, it's a first-come, first-served thing, and there are a lot of other guys trying to pick up their pieces. But there is a small chance here, if you act quickly.
If you paid by credit card, you have actual protection, and can force a chargeback based on fraud protection. IMO, this is your best bet for recovery.
So overall, things are NOT good.
The most important thing is that you don't do anything stupid / illegal. That means:
- do *NOT* harass with lots of late-night calls
- do *NOT* threaten legal action
- do *NOT* threaten *illegal* action
- do *NOT* show up in person and demand stuff without a lawyer present.
It's just money and stuff. Nothing to go to jail over!

When, like you say, that "they are more than reasonable in finding a resolution to any problems, and that you do get what you paid for in the end"?
Really?
Wait wait, i think people are just worried that the close down is due to financial reasons. They might be bringing up
claims , incase GorillaT doesnt have the items / financial strength to reimburse what they owed the customer.

I've heard some snippets as to what happened from Gorilla Tactics himself, and some through other people.
Since he hasn't posted anything publicly, I've held off from doing so too.
I've been getting JUST enough communication to keep me hopeful that I'll eventually see most of my pending items.
Up until right now, I've had nothing but great service, which makes this whole fiasco all the more hard to understand.
We'll see.

NO word on Thursday.
On Friday, the same questions asked, the same offers made (pay for shipping costs once a confirmation of shipping and a tracking number is received).
*************************************
Since a "ton of shipments" were (allegedly) made on Wednesday, has anyone received confirmation of this yet?
Especially in the form of a tracking number?

Welp, since everything went as a I expected, no DC number was sent to me even after several days of warnings and extended deadlines, so I filed a paypal claim. Got the package yesterday, it has a DC sticker on it. About 70% of what I ordered is in there.
So its up to him now. I am leaving the claim open. He can refund what I am owed or he can let me keep it I dont care. Im tired of being the one worried about it.

Lets whomever knows the number track it on the USPS website.

A "DC" sticker is a "Delivery Confirmation" sticker - it's a tracking number that anybody can use to see whether a package was shipped and delivered.

Hey!
Finally some (mostly) good news!
At least you got the majority of your stuff.
As for the rest... Good luck - hopefully we won't all be joining the long line of creditors.
IF I can get the majority of what I'm owed, I'm inclined to let the rest slide and chalk it up to a lesson learned.

I thought you got around the same % of what you ordered?
Or wait, was it 75% was *missing*??
123
Post by: Alpharius
At this point, I'm missing around 25% of my last order.
If I manage to get most of the missing stuff, I'm thinking about considering myself lucky and letting the rest slide.
I will NOT let the entire currently missing 25% slide though.
I'm giving him just a few more days, and then it is time to get the credit card company involved.

Post by: GMMStudios
I see. Well, good luck then. Hopefully you get all of your stuff. I know I am not because he told me on the phone (probably shouldve said this earlier), he said a lot of orders werent complete when he closed his GWS account and he is just sending out what he has of orders.
I am willing to bet big money that is why you have most of yours but not all.
Sorry, I didnt realize I had not mentioned that till now.
EDIT: This is why I am leaving the claim open. He needs to refund what he knows he owes.

This thread is in danger of going off topic again.
I appreciate that individuals have opinions and information in support or against GT, however, the purpose of the thread is to allow actual customers to give information about their packages. That was made clear by Iorek on the previous page. I will be deleting some OT postings to keep things on topic.
If I delete your post, don't take it personally. It is just because we need to keep the thread right on topic for the sake of customers and GT themselves.

Here I am.
So I have not read this thread, but I have heard some things from phone calls.
I will sum it up for everybody and we can go from there.
In fact GTGU is not going out of business.
I - the owner operator have only worked 3 days in about the last 20 days.
without telling my entire life story - imagine the living example of the sayings "when it rains it pours" "bad things happen to good people" "Murphy’s law" "If it wasn’t for bad luck id have no luck at all" and "the domino or snowball effect"
Two of the major issues that have plagued me lately are that my wife was involved in an auto accident when another driver decided to look right and turn left, then pulled out straight into her (no injuries to her luckily) . 2 days later I was in a separate auto accident in a different vehicle when some 16 year old kid decided that the light wasn’t red and all the cars in front of him weren’t stopped there and drove full sped into the back of us. (injuries to me and friends).
I have more to tell, but I will probably write a book about the others things i been dealing with.
Since the lapse of being able to work we have not obtained any new shipments - all though we have tied down most things with manufacturers and suppliers.
Getting to the resolution and what a customer should care about and what you can do.
If you have an pending order with us, It is probably in this pile of 20 something boxes right behind me in my basement here. I will be shipping them all Monday morning. If we do not have an item of yours we will have to refund the difference to you in the upcoming week.
We also have designated about $18,000 worth of inventory to an liquidation effort.
the liquidation will start this SUNDAY and you can call in from 11am - 7pm (if there is no answer, try again in 10 minutes or email me to call you for your order)
the sales of these items will start at 35% off and climb to as much as 45% off depending on the item types and the amount that you buy (its a negotiation pretty much, but there will be a standard to operating procedure)
Payments can be done as normal
Shipping will be done via usps and will be charged with actual cost.
this is our initial step towards resolution of our current issues, and afterward things such as inventory sales to other stores or business owners and maybe even online auction sites will be explored.
and lastly, please do not create a paypal claim, it actually makes it more dificult for me to help fix anything because paypal "holds funds" and then if you want a refund, we have to wait for them to release the funds to actually make the refund. I just need you to give me your trust on this one.
To speak about your order, or to participate in the inventory liquidation please contact me here:
SATURDAY: 734-217-2677
SUNDAY: 734-418-2817 (or number above)
MONDAY: 734-217-2677
you can call anytime from 9am to 11pm eastern. Leave messages or try to email with your number and I will call you back ASAP.
please email or call - I wont be coming onto the forum to regularly in the near future.
Thank you to everybody that has given support to us in the past couple of weeks, we deffinetly needed it and it was greatly appreciated.

Liquidation will be:
anything on hand from
GAMES WORKSHOP
WoW Minis
MAGIC CARDS
Warmachine / Hordes
windsor & newton brush'
supplies-paint-glue-templates & such
board games
and more.
it is ANYTHING ON HAND pretty much, there are only a few items we kept out of liquidation.
I also have taken a personal responsability approach and I will be listing some things on craigslist. my basically brand new xbox 360, a cannon 20d camera, a ton of my models that I have collected, most of which are new - some painted very well. I decided that will help things move quicker.

Is there a list anywhere of liquidation stuff, or should we just prepare "wishlists" and see what you have? I might be interested in placing an order, I just don't' want to waste your time.
If you can just explain the procedure for how it would be best to get in on this, I'd appreciate it!

Post by: GorillaTactics
oh sorry, that is what i ment - and good word!
yes, please make a wish list - and call in to see if it is there. first come first serve basically and remember the intent is to move it all at a price hat makes you happy and use the cash to get things back on track.
it will be very easy for me to quickly say all the "space marine items" on hand - or if you say " I want terminators, a rhino, a chaplin, and some glue" i will say somthing like " got all that, but sorry chaplins are gone" for example.
it will be rather easy actually. but yes, do make a wishlist and call tomorrow 11am -7pm eastern

I don't know but they probably not looking at emails. Guy said to call in, so if you didn't call you that would not be a good idea.
However I do know that a lot of the inventory was sold already and that they were also selling stuff to people that were going to the actual store to buy (they probably were the ones who took up most of the good stuff).
They are doing it again tomm and tuesday i think so you can still cash in on what's left.

We still have about 60% of the inventory left, however each section/army has been skimmed over pretty good. There is a bunch of fantasy and 40k though. and i am now looking for eager buyer who would want to do something like "give me the rest of your tyranids!" sort of purchasing and wil accomidate the sale somehow by ading in paints or something like that. Yeah, tried that and Outlook starts trying to install on my computer. It wasn't a mailto: so I wasn't going to wade through a page of code to try and find it. I have it now, so thanks.

In Firefox, goto TOOLS -> Options -> Applications. Then look for mailto, then select whatever mail method you use.. Gmail, yahoo, MSN, etc.

Um, that was awesome! Thanks!
AND... FINALLY...
I received MOST of the miniatures owed me today.
I'm still missing around $25 worth of blisters, but at this point, I'm going to say "close enough" and consider myself fortunate.
Good luck to GORILLA TACTICS in getting through this tough spot and good luck to all of his customers in either getting their miniatures or recovering their money!

That's fantastic.
Considering how open they've been in what is clearly a tough time for them, I'm slightly more likely to use Gorilla Tactics in future if they can recover from this.

Actually, me too.
Maybe.
And a quick correction - I'm only missing about $16 worth of miniatures.
So, IF they can return AND establish a pretty good track record upon said return... Maybe!

Well its been a week since I was told I was getting a refund after he tried to get me to take my missing $250 in credit in some company I never heard of.
I just emailed him again to call me in the morning, hopefully I can finally get this straightened out tomorrow morning. This has been about a 2 month ordeal.
Lets hope my bad feeling is wrong and I get my refund tomorrow. If I do I will be sure to post the good word.
I dont always agree with JHDD, but from now on I am going to trust his gut about buying online, not mine.

Well, you can always count on the WARSTORE.
Sure, 20% is not as nice as 35%, but reliability AND stability just might be worth that extra 15%...
Anyway, good luck, and I hope it turns out OK for you.

Thought I'd just post back guys. It seems like everyone has a bit of good news, and uh... I just thought I'd throw in an "I told ya so" to the people assuming he was going to disappear forever with our money. Anyway, I got a tracking number a few days ago, and the package status says its been delivered, but my college is weird, and the mail room isn't open for another 20 minutes, so that's how much longer I'll have to go without it. Also, to the person who said that they were out of SM armor. THAT'S MY FAULT! MWAHAHAHAHA!

Brandon,
I dont know what "bad feelings" you could possibly be having
Sorry I removed all personal decision making process from your life when it comes to business transactions, but im sure JHDD's guidence will be better then nothing, because, hey- If you dont have a forum of peers to make up your mind for you, then what do you have?
However I have made life VERY good for 3 painters and you were the 4th piece of the puzzle - (check your voicemail maybe?)
If you dont know what im talking about, then email me so i can get you taken care of ASAP.
As one guy put it - quoting from his email.
" Thanks man, this is the best thing ever, and now I know that it is possible to endure through some hard times and come out even better then ever in the end "
and I assume that you do have your cash refund because I show them on my account records as processed.
but im not sure if this just got off topic.... see post above and contact me if something still does not seem complete on your end.

I just want my money back and that is what I have been trying to do for a while now. I've even offered to take it all in other product but I havent heard from you.
Please respond to my emails!
Edit: I live by my phone, I run a business too. You have left no voicemails and have not called me.
If you have and it just hasnt gone through then try calling on a cell phone and not skype.

Thought about it long and hard, then put in an order. Frankly, I usu. only pick up stuff from my FLGS with my wife being a cornerstone of Warstore's business. However, I felt motivated by some of the bad press in this thread to throw my cash in the ring and report on what happens. I've had my bell rung in life a few times, and I have no desire to turn my back on someone when they need a hand. Weird, but that's abotu the only reason that I put in the order. That, and I wanted the models . Anyway, after a few emails back and forth about product and price, finally got some satphone time and put in the order. was congenial, there when he said he was going to be (and then some), took my order and that was that.
Hope it turns out well for him.
Hope I get my stuff, too. However, it will be a month before I get home. My Gaming Enabling spouse will be ripping open the packaging and giving me a count when it gets to the Hizzy, however. I'll let Dakka know.

I dont understand, why are people still sending this guy money with stories like mine, of getting two months of runaround and lies before getting their refund, floating around?

I still haven't received shipping confirmation/tracking info on the remaining portion of my last order. Last contact with GTGU was an email that they would ship last wednesday. Nothing since.

Probably because your horror story is the odd-ball. Not everyone is getting terrible stories of "HE TOOK MY MONEY!!!". I had a little problem getting in contact with him when I wanted to, but all in all, it was a fairly simple transaction, and I got a lot of stuff at a great price. I'm still waiting for two more models to show up, but I'm not worried about them, as Angelos still responds to his e-mails and phone calls.

Actually, at this point the person getting their stuff in a timely fashion with no hassles would be the oddball.
I know in life gak happens and it sucks so I wish him the best. But I know that an additional 15% discount isn't really worth all the headache that a lot of people have gone through.
I have not purchased from GT but it will take a lot more than "I got my stuff after a 2 month wait" to get me to actually make a purchase.

Well, ultimately success or failure is judged by the outcome. I hope I haven't thrown my money away, but we shall see in time whether I have acted foolishly or not.
I just wanted to give it a go to give this guy a fresh start and a fresh chance at making good. That, and I was heartened by some of the people in this thread reporting flawless transactions start to finish.
Ultimately, Dakka shall hear of the results of my transaction, good or bad.
I'm thinking about putting a line in my sig with the results.

You have to remember, this guy has no real reason to ship anything. He no longer has his GW account, for whatever reasons you want to believe.
I was hesitant to say anything before I got my refund for fear of reprisal. Think of how many people are in the same boat who have not posted, or just dont know about the thread.

Back on, and things still aren't right?!? That's not good. Alpharius wrote:I'm only missing about $16 worth of miniatures.
$16 is $16, but at least it's "only" a double-digit loss. ____ GMMStudios wrote:Well its been a week since I was told I was getting a refund after he tried to get me to take my missing $250 in credit in some company I never heard of. $250? Ouch. ____ GorillaTactics wrote:Last monday's president day was a suprise "oh yeah, the post office is closed!" to me so all my plans got jacked up and im still in possesion of a couple orders, because I actually had no room left to take anymore!
I assume you shipped anyways, because you simply used the APC unit to print postage and get DC#s. ____ GorillaTactics wrote:Brandon, I dont know what "bad feelings" you could possibly be having Sorry I removed all personal decision making process from your life when it comes to business transactions, but im sure JHDD's guidence will be better then nothing, because, hey- If you dont have a forum of peers to make up your mind for you, then what do you have?
Ahem. *THIS* is how you start "professional" business communications to a Customer? Really? As of my last post, I thought (and hoped) that was done with this thread, and perhaps, that is what you assumed. However, as you called me out directly, I feel that I ought to share a few very frank and uncensored thoughts with you about conducting "business" over the Internet. First and foremost, business over the Internet is still Business. That means that morally and legally, you are obliged to honor your Customers payments and to deal with people in an ethical and professional manner. I believe that you have a *long* way to go in all of those regards. You mention my guidance to the "Customers" that you have defrauded to date, and quite frankly, if it were personally up to me, my guidance would have been to have them all: - force credit card chargebacks on you, - take you to small claims court for default judgement, - open Internet fraud cases with the FBI, - open mail fraud case with local PD. When it's my money in the hole, I'm something of a hard-ass. Similarly, I would have advised people not to send a penny of new business until it was proven that you had made good on all of your promises with your existing Customers. Again, being completely frank and honest based on your behavior and actions, you look like a scammer. And until everybody who ordered things from you is fully-satisfied, that's how I'm going to look at you. Again, talking business here, if you can't step up, I suggest that you get out of the game.

Mod Alert should be your response. Personal attacks are NEVER the answer. For a reminder of the Dakka rules, click on Rule #1 in my sig.
And you, JohnHwangDD, your post was unnecessarily inflammatory, doesn't add to the topic, and violates Rule #1 (which you also have a habit of doing). Go ahead and give the Rule #1 in my sig a click also and sharpen yourself up on the Dakka rules.
Since you all have managed to so wonderfully derail this thread, I'm locking it as well. For those of you who would like to continue the discussion On Topic, please start a new thread.
