Do you think you will be able to model the autogun version of the autopistols you just released? I think it looks better than the Armageddon pattern GW seems to want to give us all the time...

I had so many of those too before Specialist and Bitz order went away..
Glad to see Mad Robot stepping up their game on the releases!
I know it's probably a long shot, but some Ghost in the Shell themed heads would be really awesome. .. a more sci-fi personalities line.. maybe influences from the anime and the live action film?

Hi there!
I have done a few orders myself and the quality of Madrobot's products is just amazing!
I had a few requests to make for some very specific bits, maybe you can help!
- running "fatigues legs" (like your tribal legs running)
- prone position bodies
- gun accessories: Silencers, optics, flashlights, etc. (although I found a few, not many have the right size to fit las guns)
Only suggestions of course! But I would be stoked to finally have alternative bits with your quality standards.

Would love a Ghost in the Shell.. or even (futuristic) Sci-Fi based personalities set
(Motoko and Batou for sure.. maybe the android from Empire Strikes Back, some Blade Runner heads..)
I really like the new heads tho. Mixing those with some Catachan bits and some of the Danamian stuff I haven't used yet sets me up for a great Goliath themed gang for Shadow War: Armageddon.

From facebook Mad Robot Miniatures When I was able to finally make the Gideon MBT a reality, I wanted to keep the price as reasonable as possible so people could actually buy it and not just look at it and say "one day..." As we move production of the Gideon to an outside company and also introduce new parts, I am having to take a new look at how this kit will be priced. So, here are the expected changes, in a nutshell: •The price will stay at $65 •The new sponsons and all their weapon options will be included at no extra charge •The new armored side skirts will be included at no extra charge. •The kit will come with only one main weapon that you can choose from 9 different options. •All the main weapons, the sponsons, and the side skirts will be available for purchase separately for those who already have the kit •International orders will be subject to a flat shipping fee for each tank, regardless of what else you may purchase. For Canada it will be $20, for the rest of the world, $30 I would like to emphasize that these are heavy kits, just over 2lbs., and the fees being added don't even cover the entire cost of shipping. I am still covering a few dollars shipping on each piece. I'm laying this all out to you for the sake of transparency and with the hope that folks will realize the tank is still a great value, given its quality and all the extras that are included. I stand our tank up against any other as the best alternative out there. Thanks for your time and feel free to leave comments below. Steve and an image of the beastie from the website so newcomers to the thread understand what the post is about

82903

I only see postage for Canada and ROW.. I was under the impression that MR was American.. so where exactly does that leave stateside shipping for this kit.. or was I wrong and they're Canadian..and we're ROW?

Trying to compete with the soon to be released Matilda tank from Victoria Miniatures eh?
45264
Post by: mad robot
@Carnikang: It basically the same width and about 10mm longer. Here's a comparison:
@MLaw: I'm in the US, postage remains the same in the US. The post on FB was to layout some upcoming changes. With postage staying the same in the US, there was no need for it to be included.
@BrookM: Hardly, the Gideon has been up and selling for over a year. The new parts are a result of customer requests.

BrookM wrote:Trying to compete with the soon to be released Matilda tank from Victoria Miniatures eh?
Please, the only thing the Matilda can compete with is a steaming pile of dog turd, Vic has some good stuff but the Matilda certainly isn't one of them. She needs to stop using Jake as his designs are completely dull and uninspired. Vic's Matilida doesn't even deserve mention alongside any 3rd party tank, if I wanted a Matilda I'd just get a Tamiya model and add 40k guns to it. That way I'd save myself half the price and more importantly save myself the eye strain.
Mad Robot's tank looks like a proper tank and not a cartoonish take of an already hideous design.

Post by: MLaw
That's really poor form bud. As an illustrator and sometimes designer, I gotta stick up for the guy. He's working with a talented artist and putting any of the final design squarely on him isn't right. Moreover, there's really no need to be so hateful about it. I've personally made that mistake before (MR unfortunately is familiar with this and I still feel like an ass about it). Remember that both of them are human beings too and if you don't care for their little plastic toys, then just don't buy them. Tearing them down on a personal level though, I'm afraid that says more about you than them and I do hope you work through whatever is driving that kind of angst. That said, I do prefer both the design and the pricing of the MR tank.

Wow, who really cares this much? I appreciate what Mike said but this is why I stick more to Facebook these days.
And in all fairness, the comments by both BrookM and Stanman are petty & uncalled for.

I've ordered from them before and I am in Canada which is notorious for taxing incoming shipments. Lets just say that I have had zero issues with the taxman. Mad Robot is really international friendly when you factor in free shipping when you buy enough stuff

@Mad Robot - Just to be absolutely sure, is the figure riding the horse based on your existing miniatures just reposed? I've bought too many horses that ended up being too small. If they are fresh sculpts I think I'm going to have trust issues until I see them

The legs are reposed from our existing fatigue legs so proportions will remain consistent throughout all of our rider legs. These mostly came up now due to people asking for them, I guess some new rules are making guys riding roughly a good thing again
As for other companies...meh, don't care

Understandable on other companies, though I mix your stuff in with a bunch of others to get the look I want
Glad to hear the proportions will be intact though as your components tend to match the industry pretty well.. at least until the industry makes their stuff taller and skinnier
Will it just be one set of generic horses or are you doing any with gas masks or cybernetics or whatever? I'm sure some DKoK players would love a gas mask option (my fingers are crossed for NVGs for horses )

Awesome work as always!
Quick question though, are you planning to create more types of heavy weapon platforms, or just sticking to the wheeled gun shield and tripod type? I'd love to see some tank tread platforms...
Lastly, will you be planning to release the plasma pistol on the lykan commander sprues as a four piece on a separate sprues? I've noticed all the other pistols are available separate apart from the plasma ones. Also, any thoughts on making some lasgun variations, maybe ones that match the ones you do in the pic below?

The sponsons are designed and sized to work with the Gideon MBT. They will not fit the LR and would look very out of place, same goes for the guns.

In your preview the guns aren't attached to the Sponsons, so I'm hoping you can buy the weapons separate in case you want the guns but not the sponsons...
The sponsons are designed and sized to work with the Gideon MBT. They will not fit the LR and would look very out of place, same goes for the guns.
I see, bummer, those bits looked great!

Looking good. Very helpful for creating a very specific look.
Minor technical note
Red Dots are not emitted (at least not outside of a sighting device).. That would just be a laser. Red Dots are a type of sight that uses a single red dot as a reticle instead of a traditional crosshair or other markings in the sight picture.
The IR scopes look like holographic sights.
I'll refrain from being more nitpicky but there are a few other things..

Well... depends. In RL, youre absolutely right. But in necromunda (and SWA), red dot lasersights seem to be what theyre depicted as here... at least going by the inv save they confer to units theyre pointed at...

Just a quick comment to say how much I love the Dress Uniform stuff and the latest Napoleonic/Sepoy stuff - epic!
A cheeky request, but would it be possible to see the Dress arms with a 'straight' rifle grip (i.e. much like a sporting shotgun)? I can't find any store on the web doing anything similar - there's a total dearth of them!

Lol, well I wanted to refine my process by doing horses first. Those are coming out next week some time; 3 horse poses and for the riders, 2 legs styles, 3 arms styles, & brass rod lances with 2 tip styles to choose from.

Hi, salut !
I live in the Pyrénées, and unfortunately, North America speaks now american-english and not american-french (except in Québec, Maine or Louisiana !). I ask you to be tolerant...
Mr Mad Robot, I admire your work and find that your Sikh, or Bengali Rider, is absolutely great... But your horses are hideous !
I have now five horses at home, and they really don't be like yours. Please, go and make a trip through the great plains and sierras, to see apaloosas or pintos in open air : heads and necks are correct, but backs and rumps not...
Take your drawing board again, Monsieur !!!
45264
Post by: mad robot
@Hilokoa: What a happy coincidence that your first post is to criticize someone's efforts to make fun toys. Sorry you don't like my horses, you're certainly entitled to your opinion
Au revoir!
117754
Post by: Hilokoa
Bonjour,
Be quiet : it's not in my character to be a Zoile (a Troll)... My remark is not a criticism, but a honest and friendly reaction "à chaud".
And I understand that it comes too late (your draw and cast process is certainly far behind you).
I sincerely love your work and follow your progress : you're very imaginative, accurate and unrivalled (your soviet, german or indian themed heads are priceless!).
Personally, I have three hobbies : mountain treks, "little soldiers" and horses. I know their beauty, intelligence, strength, sensitivity... and anatomy.
From the point of vew of a "horseman" :
- your n°3 looks really strange (the croup is too low in comparison with the withers) ;
- your saddles are not correctly fixed. Your girth is not on a good (anatomical and technical) position. The saddle risks to move on the back and flanks, hurting the horse and preventing your lancer from trotting or galloping. This instability doesn't allow him to sit up on the saddle, lock his lance and hit without falling down.
That's OK, a fun toy is only a fun toy... so never mind !
Avec mon respect pour un artisan de talent...
37969
Post by: Tyr13
The horses are fine. Are they 100% anatomically correct? No. But neither is the vast majority of human models in pretty much all scales, from all manufacturers. They still look way better than some of your competitors, anyway.
51394
Post by: judgedoug
As a big fan of Mad Robot minis, I have to agree with Hilokoa. The horse-rears are a little small.
TBH it's no big deal in this "heroic" scale of ours, but if it was like LOTR or something, I'd be probably a little upset.
Mainly I'm just waiting for horses with gas masks for Steel Legion
45264
Post by: mad robot
Look folks, Hilokoa is offering genuine feedback and that's ok. However, at some point people need to accept that these toy soldiers and models are not always going to reflect real life. I made the horses to satisfy many requests from customers and friends. I like them and I think they will look cool on the tabletop. Maybe some of you agree, maybe not, fair enough.
Are we going to go through this again when I release the camels? What about the bears...lizards? I didn't create the matrix, I just live in it

Salut fraternel,
Good words : "genuine feedback"... That was exactly my intention, and I appreciate your fair play.
In constructing a project, books and internet are certainly good, but seeing and learning tricks in the field is great too ! Il faut savoir boire à toutes les sources...
In the end, we're all in accordance : Mad Robot dares (and deserves to win).
And put your mind at rest : I don't ride camels !!!

Horses are notoriously difficult to get correct in both 3D and 2D artwork. If I recall correctly, Da Vinci (and Degas) claimed that they were one of the pinnacles an artist could aspire to.
In terms of naturalism, Hilokoa's criticisms are fair- I think the language barrier made the comments seem more harsh than intended. Are they good enough for the table? Certainly.
Just piping in as a fan of Mad Robot's output, and with all due respect. I've used your conversion parts in several projects

Hey Mad Robot have you considered making it where you can build rough riders with the biker kits? I made these guys from almost entirely your bits aside from the lancer arms, which I had picked up from another place. Seems like an easy option to add to the store since I know some people like to put their rough riders on bikes. Sorry for the crummy picture, just occurred to me while I was sitting at my desk reading this.
And before anyone asks, these aren't mad robot lances, they came from another store and bent when I was washing mold release off in the sink. The resin was so thin the hot water bent them instantly. So it's not a ding against mad robot or anything else, just me being dumb with model prep
45264

It's a good idea, I'll build that kit in the store tomorrow. Our lances won't have that problem as they are brass rod

Definitely motorcycles. Planet is covered in manufactories, makes sense one would make motorcycles for the ash waste scouts and Garrison troops. Plus motorcycles would be handy personal transports in a hive with narrow streets and alleys.

Hi,
To show that I'm not just a bad guy (a *** frog eater, or better, a *** red-pepper eater - I'm Basque), I must say that your new parts are very good. Once again.
The top rank of helmets (Dredd) are great, as well as the two heads with ballistic visors.
Let's talk now about horses and conversion job :
To see what is a real "war saddle" (selle d'arme, trooper saddle, Militärsattel), I suggest you to type the keywords : "British (1912) universal pattern saddle" or "Armeesattel 25". The addition of saddlebags, cans, rolled blankets may pay off...
Such saddles are still in use in France (Garde Républicaine), England (Horse Guard), Canada (Mounted Police) and USA (in the North, see "US trooper saddles").
And to be complete, look also "western saddle parts". The Arizona Border Patrol mounted troopers use such a saddle (cow-boys and vaqueros too).
In regards to the horses legs, take care : the pose n°3 is correct (trot, but the front-right leg (antérieur droit) has to be straightened). The n°2 is good without modification (gallop). The pose n°1 is not OK (mix of two gaits).
See a Horsemanship manual, to fully understand the gaits of a horse.
A bientôt peut-être.
45264
Post by: mad robot
@Hilokoa: First off, I've never said or implied you are a bad guy...ever.
Second, while I always appreciate feedback, it's too late in this case. The horses are done and out and I've moved on to other projects. Continuing to post on my news thread about horses will serve no practical purpose.
I would suggest you start your own thread in the Projects Section where you can discuss proper horse saddles and poses. I also encourage you to come visit our Facebook Page where you can actively participate in current projects, as opposed to simply criticizing something that's already released and completed.

- Do you think that having proned positioned legs & bodiesbodies with the standard fatigues would be an option?
- Some new heads with new facial expressions (smiles?), or scars?
- Ghillit suit torso with a backpack on the shoulder might be cool as well.
- Arms unpining a grenade?
Anyway, once again your products are great, cant wait for the new stuff to come out!

-Prone bodies are a possibility
-Might be a while but yes
-Ghillie suit is doubtful
-Grenade arms are possible but would be a while
Schedule is kinda filled up at this point but I promise to try and work in those ideas when I can.

what style of cowboy hat?
All kinds. I’d love to be able to do a large number of western/bounty hunter/outlaw looking troops but I can’t find anyone that makes cowboy/techno cowboy heads. I seem to prefer your heads to a lot of the other bits companies so it would be pretty sweet of you ever made some.

Although I'm not too fond of the helmet version of the Shocktroop Officer Heads, I'm in love with the cap ones!
Those will just go perfect for my future tank officers

His left arm looks a bit short... is it just the angle? Apart from that, he looks pretty great. Very useful for loads of roles, too!

@AAN: Cheers Agis
@Tyr13: his arms are indeed a bit stubby, it's part of the concept

Got my panzerfaust arms in the mail
and these are some pieces of work, excellent!
A question: any plan to release the panzerfaust itself
as a weapon set (standard and firing mode)?

Glad you are happy with your parts I think a sprue of stand alone weapons could happen. I'll see if I can work them in sometime on the next month or so.

The cavalry model is awesome. Not so sure about the Albion rifles though... those heads just look a bit... big? Any chance of scaling them down just a bit?

nope, it's just a render so proportions are easily misconstrued. They are the same size as everything else we've done for over 6 years

I agree...heroic 28mm is weird...
I do indeed...and I know...
yes...bobbly...not just a bit bobbly... very bobbly...

How well do these heads scale for smaller scaled 28mm miniatures like say Empress or Spectre's ranges?

Post by: OrlandotheTechnicoloured
I like those Sallets
45264
Post by: mad robot
@Wyrmalla: can't say for sure but they will probably be a bit too big.

Post by: Wyrmalla
Looking at this image I'd thought that they'd be smaller than your regular Heroic Scale 28mm head, however, you may have changed the size? As if you had any the same size as the middle one they'd work.

Any way to see a scale pic of those heads next to something iconic? They are perfect for some fantasy kitbashes, but I don't want to order them without knowing if they will make fantasy minis look like bobble heads.

I don't own any fantasy models to show them on, best I can give you is this from the internet...
If Cadian heads are sized to work, than mine should do fine as well.
