I'm sure those are just the terrain pieces that are available separately as an option bundled with the realm of battle board at, perhaps, a small discount.

Why should they not offer a bundle deal?

No good reason, just the RoB board is a really gakky product. I wonder if it's going up in price come June. LOL!

Post by: BrookM

I guess this means they'll be up for pre-order pretty soonish.

Planetstrike update - July releases @ 2009/05/14 09:52:49

And pre-orders would mean pics!

I'd love to see some good shots from all that terrain.

Marine 2nd Wave is at the same time. It's better than it filling up an entire month by itself.

H.B.M.C. wrote:The RoB board is a really gakky product...
I'm having a Awesome time with mine. I've never played so many games.
Everyone who's played on mine has commented on how good the product is, and that GW should have done it sooner.
Also it's showing practically zero wear or tear, if I sold mine I'd expect to get almost all my money back...
Why do you think it's gakky? I'd have thought of all people you'd have two or three, and be having a blast!

I'm hoping for a secondwave of terrain tiles... smaller hills / Rivers / roads etc...
I can't wait for PlanetStrike. espcially the terrain buildings walls and landing pad.

Loving the idea of playing non apoc games with 6 elites or heavies.

Panic...

Edit: in fact If I did a 6mth retro reveiw on the realm of battle board it would be 10/10 value...

Wow, it's cool that they're actually supporting the realm of battle board, how cool would it be if each new release for an army saw a new board, isn't the Nids coming up next year, cool boards there.

Oh man I LOVE scenery. Can't wait.

I remember my brown-toothed redshite in my local GW telling me about terrain, trying to sell me the RoB board.

I love the guy so much as his upselling techniques are pants! I was discussing making my urban board for cityfight (and will now be updated for Planetstrike) and also my snowy board for WHFB. Immediately he pipes up "You should buy the RoB, it's only one millionty pounds!*"

I said it was overpriced gak and I wouldn't be forking out for it, as mdf, foam, cork and other stuff is insanse cheap.
He looks at me and tries to tell me that the instore 4x4 board cost over £350 to make. I feel a little cruel now as I laughed hard in his face and implied that whoever made it may be suffering from a degenerative mental illness.
Yeah, turns out he made it.

Still, I can't wait for the Planetstrike stuff man. So super cool.

*I can't rememeber how much it actually is.

SHRINE OF THE AQUILA 1 Cathedral July 18

From what I've read at Warseer (yes, I braved it, starting therapy next week), that's what the big fotress thingy is called.

Planetstrike update - July releases @ 2009/05/14 12:15:11

Post by: Scottywan82

Okay, this needs to be seperated a bit more:

Planetstrike - July 04

THE SPEAR OF SICARIUS 142 Model Box
PLANETSTRIKE 80page Book
BLASTSCAPE 5 Craters
IMPERIAL BASTION 1 Model Box
AEGIS DEFENCE LINE 1 Model Box
SKYSHIELD LANDING PAD 1 Model Box
MINES, BOMBS AND BOOBY TRAPS Resin Markers

Planetstrike - July 18

IMPERIAL OUTPOST 5 Model Set + Gameboard
IMPERIAL DEFENCE NETWORK 13 Model Set + Gameboard
SHRINE OF THE AQUILA 1 Cathedral
IMPERIAL STRONGPOINT 2 Bastions, 3 Defence Lines

Space Marines Wave 2 - July 18
VULKAN HE'STAN 1 Model Blister
KOR'SARRO KHAN 1 Model Blister
SPACE MARINE LAND SPEEDER STORM 1 Model Box
SPACE MARINE IRONCLAD DREADNOUGHT 1 Model Box

So the Shrine is the Dark Angels thing? and is the IMPERIAL OUTPOST just the IMPERIAL STRONGPOINT plus the RoB board? Ditto for the IMPERIAL DEFENCE NETWORK being 4 Bastions, 1 Cathedral, and 8 Defence Lines?

Something like that.

Planetstrike update - July releases @ 2009/05/14 12:17:02

Post by: H.B.M.C.

I'd say so. Similar to the Imperial City and Imperial Sector boxes (ie. Army Box and BattleForce sized, but for terrain).

H.B.M.C. wrote:I'd say so. Similar to the Imperial City and Imperial Sector boxes (ie. Army Box and BattleForce sized, but for terrain).

lol, only the Imperial sector is 90 bucks. let's do the math on 13 pieces plus a gameboard.

Though, honestly, it could be that the e counting each PIECE seperately. Then it might be less stuff. But I just want a whole bunch (3? 4?) of Bastions, a Cathedral, and more defence lines that I can ever use. i play Guard, dammit, this is like a dream come true!

Oh, and I guess I'll get a couple of landing pads too.

Planetstrike update - July releases @ 2009/05/14 12:22:12

Post by: BrookM

Looks like it's going to be an Imperial Strongpoint and a landing pad for me, the most important items on the list when I need to get them from that place that people keep yapping about.

edit.

Well I meant this one:

IMPERIAL STRONGPOINT 2 Bastions, 3 Defence Lines

Actually, come to think about it, the fortress thingy is pretty big, so that'll be the 'other' big release. Baneblade sized box probably... maybe even Stompa sized, given it has a fething missile silo in it!!!

the idea of preordering the Defence Network without knowing what exactly it is and how much it will cost..

THE SPEAR OF SICARIUS 142 Model Box July 04

What exactly is this suppose to be? 142 Models? New Space Marine Army Box?

Planetstrike update - July releases @ 2009/05/14 13:16:14

Post by: reds8n

I think it's a marine box set to represent Sicarius's.... 2nd (? is that right) company in some form or other.

I've heard conflicting reports as to if this is the previously released 100 marines box set plus a (fair few) odds and sods or an entirely new "compilation".

Personally I suspect the latter.

It's probably the complete second company plus first company support, command, transports and whatnots.

My money's on "not coming. at all. ever." The rumor mill just got it colossally wrong with the assumption that Planetstrike was going to be anything like Cities of Death.

Well the thunderhawk will come eventually I expect but it's pretty long term IIRC.

Stormtroopers I'm expecting probably with the third wave of IG releases (2nd being tanks etc).

Trygon will come with the new nid codex in 2010.

Eldar jetbikes I'd agree reds8n with them leading on the Dark Eldar version with the craftworld version coming afterwards.

My guess is the sets that come with a game board are probably the realm of battle plus some of the new terrain sets. It would be really awesome though if it wasn't and it was all new tiles that could fit together with the ROB pieces So you can have a Bigger Ream of Battle (BROB?)

All of the terrain pieces are most welcome. I like the idea of the RoB board but not the actual pieces so seeing some new sections could make that more interesting.

The Defense Line has a quad mounted something. Too bad they didn't make it the Hydra so you could take it and also mount in on a Chimera.

The Landing Pad will make a nice objective and will make a really nice display stand for the Valkyrie when you are not playing.

The Bastion is slightly less interesting but I bet you'll be able to build it in different ways so it probably will be a good kit to have.

I think the past year has been GW's best in a looong time. It's too bad that price hikes keep forcing folks out of the hobby.

Man... I gotta start saving now. I was thinking I might expand my RoB board to be 3x4 tiles for giant Apoc games, and now with all this terrain, how can I refuse? Especially if there are city themed tiles, hopefully with streets that are not paved with English faces (or skulls).

Defense line has a quad mounted autocannon. You can just make out the ammo drums on the side facing the camera on the box.

It looks more like it's the Anphelion Project styled auto turrets that were mounted on the lab roofs.

With those pics and knowledge of GW's pricing scheme for kits, someone must be able to ballpark up some prices on these things, right?

If I had to guess?

I'd put the Bastion and the Defense Line at the same pricepoint as a Land Raider or Chimera. The Landing Pad at the price point of a Baneblade, Cathedral at that same pricepoint.

GW scenery kits are rather reasonably priced, I would halve that.

Oh God no, that's just my wild speculation. I'm comparing them to existing GW terrain kits rather than to Land Raiders or Baneblades or whatever. Makes more sense to me.

And if the Landing Pad is priced like a Baneblade, I'll be skipping it. It's not that great a model, seems to have no stairs or ladder up to it (just a circle on legs really), and just isn't worth the cost of a Baneblade, especially if the massive Dark Angel Aquila Fortress Cathedral thingy is the same cost, 'cause that thing is total awesomesauce.

MagickalMemories wrote:I'm intrigued.
Why do you say it's a "gakky" product?

I game on one regularly with my group, and I think it's an excellent product.
Expensive? Yes... but that doesn't make for a bad product... only a bad PRICE.

Well I didn't use the word 'gakky', that's for sure. The enforced polite filter made me say that.

But to answer your question, it's actually less about price and more about personal preference. I hate what I call 'Moulded Boards', that is to say boards with the details moulded onto them. The GWOZ City store had this great canyon board that looked amazing, but there wasn't a single square inch of flat surface. Dice fell into cracks, landed on their sides, models couldn't always stand up straight, and generally you had a board that look fantastic but was utterly useless for a game. The other problem with that board is that that was all it could do. It was a canyon and could never stop being a canyon. It would always be a canyon.

I love terrain and GW terrain in particular. I'm a GW terrain junkie and I still have hundreds of dollars of unbuilt CoD stuff waiting to be finished, each building I make getting bigger and more elaborate each time. I have 5 sets of Necromunda terrain. I've bought everything they've made and am saving up for two GW Hills and two Modular Hills because I think they're great. I will buy this Planetstrike stuff like a crack-starved addict, but I won't buy the Realm of Battle because it is a moulded board - the hills will always be there, and while there maybe a whopping 6 or so configs, it's still the same hill, with the same approaches, levels and so on. As someone who is into 40K for the aesthetics and the narrative scope (rather than, the rules), boards like the RoB board go against what I do. Whenever we hold an event I'm always asked to do the terrain, and I love doing themed terrain. The last board was a hastily constructed ring of bunkers surrounding an ancient shrine. The time before that was the aftermath of a battle at an Imperial Defensive line, with shattered bunkers, craters, and destroyed tanks (including 2 Baneblades) everywhere. City scapes. Rolling hills. Defensive actions, supply depots - you name it, I've done it.

But I can't do any of that with a board that always has the hills in the same spot, that always has a pit of skulls in the same spot. I need to be able to justify things in the fluff for my boards - I want there to be a reason for the terrain to be there, not just random - and I don't want to have to justify a skull-pit in every game.

Now I'm sure the board itself, as a product, has its uses for some people. I don't feel its necessary, as at a cool AUD$400 I could buy a cheap piece of MDF (like I have) and spend the remaining $300+ on an order to Maelstrom and get loads of CoD stuff and extra terrain. And I'd have a better table for it that wouldn't always have the same pits, the same hills, and an uneven surface which is bad for dice rolling (I like perfectly flat non-scenic surfaces).

As I said, this is personal preference, so I'm no more 'right' than I am 'wrong', I just hate the RoB board because it limits what you can do with a game from both a practical and a narrative perspective (in my opinion) and is insanely overpriced even by GW standards.

Ozymandias wrote:Crap! Here I am trying to save money to buy a house and GW releases more terrain (and I'm with HBMC in that the single best thing GW does is terrain)!

I just bought an apartment, so I can't buy these yet either. No fair GW!

Probably not I'd say.

The really cool one though was this 8X4 industrial complex. The whole board was the industrial complex, with ramps and buildings and bridges and all sorts of things. Again, I don't think playing on it would have been the most practical thing in the world, but it did look cool.

[EDIT]: Oh, wait, you mean the boards I've made? No, not really. Only a few from our massive 3 day weekend Apoc game from the start of '07 (they're in my gallery, but they mostly show models, not terrain). And I use the word 'board' loosely. It's always the same table, or one of the two tables I have, just I try to use the terrain I own in the best way possible.

With the planetary empire kit also coming the month after (hopefuly) that we will really have a lovely galatic war. Dibs on tau and imperial guard!!

Seriously, that dark angel fortress IS totally brillant. Imanage some of the crazy addons people will make with it? perhaps a much larger version with 4 of the dark angel fortress kits comprising as the walls?

Landing pad is sexy. Gunna have to get me one of those with my vendetta for some dropship action! Shame about the no plastic stormtroops.. but really, if your've seen the new IG codex they are utterly gak for their price. Shame too, because if they were a effective unit i would had gotten cadian variants with a valk.

Personaly, i would KILL to see some xeno loving a little here. Too much imperial stuff already >.>

I will be getting a ROB board soon, I need something compact and also easy to set up since I live in a condo and even though it's pricey it seems like the best option for me. But I'd love to know more about those sets that say they come with a game board. I emailed GW and asked they said they have no info on it yet :( I'm guessing it's just a ROB + new buildings in a package deal.. but no way to know for sure so I dunno if I should get the ROB now or just wait...

I had my hopes up for a Thunderhawk and Stormtroopers coming out soonish. Oh well that's been shot down now.

The Shrine of the Aquila is interesting - this really is wishlisting but could it be that huge cathedral seen in the Apocalypse (being defended by the BA) and Planetstrike book (pics somewhere on warseer)?

Looking at the advance orders at the GW site I was reading about that skyshield landing pad, in the description...
GW website wrote:The Skyshield landing pad used by the Imperial Navy, though originally purpose-built to accommodate Valkyrie and Vendetta gunships, is robust enough to serve even the Thunderhawks of the Adeptus Astartes, and has field generators that protect the craft and its crew from incoming fire.

I don't remember GW ever talking about the Thunderhawk in their sales material, like item descriptions. Maybe I'm reading too much into it and am just hopeful, but does it seem odd to anyone else that they went out of their way to specifically mention the Thawk?

This is the stuff. It looks like the scenery for WFB. A castle and a couple of fancy houses.

In this case, though, you get a trenchline, a small fort, and some other s.... stuff.

I have an Armorcast trenchline, massive amounts of scenery, and plenty of this stuff to go around.

Along with the price increase, I'm looking more at Dark Herasy, or I munda then just buying overexpensive stuff just to keep up with the Jones's

I make stuff like this all the time. Just because GW thinks its clever to put it out in plastic doens't invalidate massive amounts of styro sheets, cardboard, and bits.

Remember, terraign is part of the game. You and your club can kitbash a few boxes of scenery out of scrap and bits more then just caving in and blowing massive amounts of cash on overpriced gak.

Two or three tools here have bought the battleboard. I'll still be laughing at them when I pull out my 4X4 painted and based boards, my scenery, and my own build stuff then playing on thier nonpainted half built gak, any day of the week.

Where are the rules people are going to really be interested in now, the skirmish and small unit tactical game?

Hey GW, you overpriced yourself and are cutting your own throats. Keep it up!!!

I love building my own terrain, but there are plenty of people that have no interest in that aspect of the hobby. I would rather see this stuff at a game than those guys who show up with a couple pieces of Styrofoam from their new computer and are calling it a bunker.

I love bulding terrain, be it stuff I make myself (made a city for an 8X6 table in the space of a weekend once - that was fun!) but I also love GW's terrain (Realm of Battle Board being the exception - that thing is so stupidly overpriced it's not funny).

I'll be getting all of this stuff except the stupidly priced Chaos Bastion and maybe Landing Pad (have to see it in the flesh).

IMPERIAL OUTPOST 5 Model Set + Gameboard July 18
IMPERIAL DEFENCE NETWORK 13 Model Set + Gameboard July 18

My unsupported guess this that a gameboard is a single 2'x2' square of dedicated 40K terrain to fit in lieu if ine iof the normal six part boardset.

It would make sense for GW to expand the range of play surface terrain. If its modula, why no extra modules?

My RoB was painted within a day of receiving it, and I will not play with an army that is not painted.

I though 4x8 was the standard table size?

In the "early days" of Warhammer Games Workshop really pushed 8'X4' tables as the gold standard everyone should try to play on, but their marketing for the past several years has gotten more realistic. If you want to increase the size of the customer base for these games (and GW obviously does), you have to be more realistic about how much room most people have available at home and how large most standard existing tables are that are already in people's homes. A huge preponderance of dining room tables are 3'X6' or at best, 4'X6'. If you look at the 4th and 5th edition rule book and all the supporting material that mentions table sizes, they generally push tables that are 6 feet long these days. Of course, that doesn't stop us "old-timers" from still seeking 4'X8' since we've already been brainwashed to "need" that size, but these days 6-foot tables are generally the standard suggested by GW.

Now, regarding the Planetstrike scenery, I think the stuff looks fun and flexible. I'm waiting to see what the price will be on the "bundle deal" Strongpoint box that contains 2 Bastions and (it appears) 3 Defence Lines. If there's a good price break on that over buying what's in it separately, I'd definitely go for the big box.

I meant that as I will not play with one of my armies being unpainted, as in my personal army.

I do not have a problem with playing again the the Grey and Shiny Tide.

Well, you two have definitely made me show my 'gaming age'!

And you're right, I do feel that I need the 4x8!

And no, I don't paint my base edges green.

Anymore...

I have two tables, a 8X4 and a 6X5. Works pretty well for us. We usually use the 8X4 as a 6X4 and the extra 4X2 is used to storing models, casualties, dice, drinks, etc.

Believe me, you are not alone. My homemade battleboards give me a 4'X8' table, which I felt I had to have due to my brainwashing in the Rogue Trader and 2nd Edtion years.

As for painting base edges green, I recently repainted a lot of my bases for my multi-army display at Baltimore Games Day. I had some units that still looked good that I wanted to display, but the entire base was done green, top and edges, in the style that was so popular 10 years and more ago. Giving them a more modern and more scenic look really improved their overall look. Funny though, even years ago I occasionally painted some of my base edges a light or medium brown color. Back then it was "heresy" to GW and if you wanted to compete in Golden Demon the edges better have been Goblin Green "or else". Hilarious. I guess I was a pioneer at the time for occasionally "violating" the Goblin Green base edges rule with brown.

By the way, problems with Advance Ordering the Aegis Defence Line on the GW US website were fixed as of yesterday. For several days if you tried to order that item it said "no longer available" in the shopping cart screen. A friend of mine tried to order it for days and couldn't because of this glitch. The problem has since been corrected.

I usually prefer a 4x6 but it just depends on how big the game is. I usually am fine with 2000 pts on a 4x6, but I haven't tried my updated man-heavy guard army on that yet.. and it'll be a while till I get all the stuff done anyway. But usually we play 2000 pts and a 4x8 just seems too "open".

The game board should be sized according to the point limit like you shouldn't be playing apocalypse 10000 points on 6X4 espicially against horde armies. I find it difficult to place my 100 ork boyz in a 12 inches by 4' area with terrain and tanks.

Hurricane Dread arm. DO WANT!

C'mon Forge World. Make a Mortis Hurricane arm!!!

And what's that small tower/generator thingy?

And the 'Battleforce' style terrain box appears to have 5 gun turrets - the two from the Bastions and then three from three sets of barricades? That seems like a lot - not that I'm complaining.

The new Angry Washing Machine at least has power fists that look like they can do some damage rather than the stubby ones we've has since the 90s.

I would like to point out though, this is the 4th Imperial Dread they've done since the chaos one came out in mid-90s.

The small generator thingy is an antenna array which is used to represent a Comms Relay which has rules applicable to Planetstrike.

The Imperial Strongpoint box does indeed contian 2 Bastions and 3 Defence Lines. It's Battleforce price AU$150, UK£55 and don't have a US$ price yet - it's marked as TBC - but, y'know Battleforcey type price.

I'm guessing that the relays also come with the Bastions, I read that somewhere I think. They could come in handy as conversion fodder for command vehicles.

Hmmm, it's a strongpoint for me, the landing pad is really nice and all, but really big, so I might get into trouble for bringing along another huge model that is hard to store properly.

The picture of the antenna array that reds8n posted is part of the Imperial Bastion kit promo sheet. Comms Relays are also features of Bastions rulewise in Planetstrike... if memory serves, you can have either an Icarus Lascannon (Interceptor Gun) or an antenna array (Comms Relay) atop your Bastion.

Hm, I thought up one plausible use for all the plastic terrain: a baby Leviathan command vehicle on the Bandeblade chassis. I suspect that Bastion thing could be pressed into service for such a construction.

Several months ago I was informed that there would be a special set of new crater markers for Planetstrike that would be a limited availability splash release like the bombs, mines and booby traps set currently for sale in GW online Advance Order. Assuming scenery pieces like the one shown above are part of that splash release, they will have a direct role of some sort in game play.

Yes.

I know the long thin trench one is something to do with a laser cutting beam ( from orbit I think 0 that inflicts something daft like a S10 AP1 hit on every model in an X inch long path. Another one is asteroids/meteorites and so on.

Oh, the Siacarius spearhead is £612 AFAIK...working on getting exact details, but it is pretty much like we thought/heard : 6 tac squads, 4 termie squads, few assault squads, couple of dreads etc etc.

With enough new terrain you could build a new home and have the first all in one home/gaming "table".

There's a couple of other terrain bundles-- all the new stuff plus a placcy table board, slightly smaller set etc etc. The Imperial stronghold set-- which is the bigger box we saw at GD Spain-- 2 bastions and.. 3 ..?.. Aegis defense lines) was £56 if memory serves and looked great value.

EDIT : yup, that's what I heard.

..Upon reflection I think this is the 2nd time I've suggested to a dakka member about simply building their house out of GW terrain.

I've got enough left over CoD tiles to make a couple of walls... maybe a small hutch?

But about that picture, and aside from the fact that it seems the Spanish are fething terrible at photography (look at all the pics we've had - small, odd angles, showing off very little), those craters above look pretty involved. By that I mean they're not the vacu-form craters we have right now. Is that a single piece, several pieces together photographed at a terrible angle? Pre-painted? One big huge box? Multi-piece?

Planetstrike update - July releases @ 2009/06/03 15:12:25

Post by: reds8n

All the new blastscape things are much more complicated. Think they are all 1 piece..suspect the "dead" rhino is a separate piece. It's in the guard codex I think, used as a terrain piece in one of the colour pics....with Creed in it perhaps ?

The trees I am intrigued about, I reckon those ones might be modelled on for affect or will be plug in like the ones in the woods that GW do.

Planetstrike update - July releases @ 2009/06/03 15:19:35

Post by: BrookM

The wrecked Rhino in the IG codex is a studio model that they had for some time now IIRC.

edit.

Maybe the blast scape and rhino are cast in resin. It's far-fetched I know but GW is known for doing limited run items in resin.

Different sizes/shapes ( slightly) and some of these have bits of wreckage and things like lava or meteorites in them.

I assume they will come unpainted, like the others. I gather these are very much a splash "once they're gone they're gone " release.

Sicarius' spearhead is : Him, 1 command squad, 6 tactical squads, 4 "full" assault squads, 1 vanguard squad ( is that 5 or 10 men ? ), 4 terminator squads ( again not sure if this is 5 or 10), 2 dreads and 9 drop pods.

well if you add it up you get this:

6x10 tacs=60
4x10 assault = 40
1x10 man vanguard =10
4x5 terms= 20
dreads= 2
drops=9
sicasius=1

that total equals the magic 142 we have heard.

so lets break this package down then and see the price difference

Sicarius=$16
6x10 tacs =$35x6=$210
8x5 assault=$26.50x8=$212
2x5 Vanguard =$41.25x2=$82.50
4x5 terms= $50x4=$200
2xdreads= $41.25*2=$82.50
9xdrop pods=$35x9=$315

for a grand total of: $1117.25 so a savings of about $122
Edit: had the assault squads wrong

Yes, the Blastscape Craters are vacuformed plastic like the current Moonscape craters, but that Rhino piece is different, being moulded plastic like the Temple of Skulls and is from the separate Battlescape product.

The only info in the GW product list(s) is the 142 models content. No firm price or breakdown has been officially announced by GW yet. The info that has been going around the place has been insider rumours, but there's something about the price that doesn't seem right.

Not really, it's cool because it's 2 walls with a beak sticking out. The only thing that could make it cooler would be a skull with a beak.

Hmm... I like it, kind of. I have always wanted to build a nice ruined Imperial Church building, but I'm not sure two walls is worth $30, no matter HOW big they are.

Those are pretty tall though. And the windows look nice. But $30 nice? Not sure.

And why are those lights on the outside of the shrine? Those look like interior lights.

Oh, and why the tiny door?

I wonder what is on the inside of those walls.

My bet? A floor, a scaffolding and a ladder.

EDIT:

Looks like they've taken these down too. Can't GW control it's own website?

And I like the blastscapes. TOTALLY cool.

Chapter Keep!!! HERE I COME!!!

Its up to the modeler to make it overwhelming. A simple wall on the ground on its own isn't cool. A fully modeled cathedral complete with battlements, defensive lines, forge world trenches, turret emplacements, razorwire, minefields, bunkers, and some of those bastion things will be awesome.

What's the Marine doing up top there? How did he get there? How is he going to get down? Is he attempting to commit suicide and the Sergeant is talking him down?

"Brother Parthos! Don't do it! Life is worth living... in service of the Emperor."
"But no one understands me Brother-Sergeant Dennifus. The Scouts sir, they make fun of me. The Scouts."
"They are but young Brother, heed not their words! They will soon learn the value of all the Emperor's servants."
"And the Terminators! They mock me and keep stealing my grieves. How can I go to war without grieves!!!"
"The Emperor is your shield Brother - with him you need no armour!"
"No! I don't believe you. I'm going to jump."
"Noooo!!!!!!"
"HURR!"
*thud*

It's composed of quite a few sections that can unhook and be spread out to allow you to move through the table. Like a huge model town HO train set.

GW added links for a bunch of stuff to the 40K Advance Order page today, so you can actually order these items now, well most of them:

Ironclad Dreadnought (they forgot to post a price on this, so you'll have to wait till they fix it to order it)
Landspeeder Strom (same problem as Ironclad)
Imperial Strongpoint ($90, saves you $28.75 over buying what's in it separately; hooray!)
Imperial Outpost (scenery bundle with Realm Of Battle Board)
Defence Network (scenery bundle with Realm Of Battle Board)
K. Khan (GW Direct Only!)
Forgefather Vulkan H.
Shrine of the Aquila
Blastscape (splash release, get it while it lasts)

Vulkan is also Direct Only.

And just to re-iterate BrassScorpion's comment, get the Blastscape early if you want it as it is a limited run Splash Release and only available while stocks last. Also, if you're thinking about buying the Imperial Strongpoint from indie stores, grab it sooner rather than later as it will shift to Direct Only in September.

Whilst I was a fan of the Cities of Death stuff, the planetstrike stuff really doesn't turn me on. In fact it turns me off so much it's like thinking about Pauline Hanson.
I bet i could knock up a respectable 'Aegis Defense Network' in a day with some cardboard and foamcore.

I've written a tutorial on how to make your own "Realm of Battle" board in the Tutorial section (go vote for me!). I made mine for $90 Australian (so 20% of the price of GW's board) and it has 8 tiles (so 33% more gaming space). But, you're allowed to spend your money where you want. .

You know, the last time an EOD said that to me, I then got to spend hours trying to wash the guy out of my hair when he was proved wrong...

Remember, kids, explosives are bad. If you see an anti-tank mine, don't bring it home.

Also... depends on what the guy drives... An '09 Toyota trips that and it's probably done. A '46 Roadmaster and you're just not gonna see the same level of damage.

By the way, the Chaos Icons Bitz Packs and Pack of Skulls Bitz Pack were addeed to the GW Online store just the other day. Didn't seem like they needed their own topic thread, so I've added the info here. This includes the following.

Five different Chaos Icons Bitz Packs, 10 icons for $8.25 US:
- Chaos Icons
- Khorne Chaos Icons
- Nurgle Chaos Icons
- Slaanesh Chaos Icons
- Tzeentch Chaos Icons

Plus the Pack of Skulls for $11.50, containing 32 individual skulls, 2 small skull piles and 1 large skull pile.

I've been wishing for these items to be available for years given the large number of Chaos conversions I do every year. These packs should also be helpful to modelers in turning their Planetstrike and other GW scenery into Chaos themed scenery.

Hrm, the Dutch Euro prices aren't that bad. The Strongpoint boxed set would get my a Bastion for free. And it's €15 less than battalion boxed sets.

No! No it does not! It has a quad cannon! Anyone using them as hydras is guilty of techno-heresy!

In fact you're best off sending them to me so you're not tempted.

holy ! that is $995 over here!

so lets break this package down then and see the price difference

Sicarius=$16
6x10 tacs =$35x6=$210
8x5 assault=$26.50x8=$212
2x5 Vanguard =$41.25x2=$82.50
4x5 terms= $50x4=$200
2xdreads= $41.25*2=$82.50
9xdrop pods=$35x9=$315

for a grand total of: $1117.25 so a savings of about $122
Edit: had the assault squads wrong

just got this from the BOLS site

BOLS wrote:
So some new info today:

Spear of Sicarius
This one of the BIG releases coming the pipe July 9th with Planetstrike. It is the full assault force used by Ultramarines Captain Sicarius as described in a famous battle in the planetstrike book. You get:

Sicarius
Command Squad
Vanguard Squad
2x Standard Dreadnoughts
4x Ten-Man Assault Squads
4x Five-Man Terminator Squads (Normal not Assault)
6x Tactical Squads
9x Drop Pods

142-models
Price: $1066 USD

which just knocked the savings down to only a measly $55 now! that is rediculus!

edit: actually it appears there is a command squad in there, which werent in the actual calculations, and I did the drop pods wrong, so it apears that there is $0 savings on this one!

If you're looking to increase Space Marine army sizes while buying quantity, some stores still have Space Marine Strike Force boxes sitting on their shelves and that set is a great bundle deal as is the regular Space Marine Battleforce. When the Strike Force set was released at $240 US, it contained $315 retail in product. Now that the price on at least one item in the box has gone up, that is the Land Raider, if you can still find a Strike Force set it is an even better deal.

As for Planetstrike specific bundles, the winner so far is the Imperial Strongpoint. It contains $118.75 in product for $90 US. Not a bad price break on the nice new plastic scenery.

By the way, the Flying Stand from the Valkyrie kit is now available by itself for $10 US.

most boxes are no savings

like when they did the spearheads for new armies like the space marine one or the chaos warrior they have no savings its just so you get all the new models and codex sooner

but thats why they stopped them after the space marine one no one bought them
