Death korps of krieg @ 2009/07/18 22:52:10

Post by: spyko

Good evening;

Well, I started directly with the photos:

My window:

Death Korp command squad :

Ralting :

Death Korp firing squad :

Cadian with respirator :

Renegad militia squad :

One finish :

And here is gone up Gorgon (except some parts which are not stuck for paint):

The Space Marines of the Black Reach box (more a dreadnought to re-paint):

Here's another painting of dkok and the last of the current squad:

I abandoned the technique of salt to wear (I am not happened ...) but on a forum I discovered a nice technique, here are the steps and pictures of the attempt on a former arm of dread:

- Sub-layer black
- Layer taupset ochre
- Layer of wash gryphonne sepia
(50/50 mix of dwarf flesh and chaos black = made a little gray)
- Take the paper to protect blisters
- Tapones a corner of it
- Remove the bulk of the paint on journal paper ( for example )
- Tapones then places the desired figure (eg edges)

The under-lying Gorgon:

Cockpit painting:

Thank you!

@Sypko , did i see a gundam marker and a staedtler fine liner?! ( oops i see it now, they are new citadel color coded brushes? same color as my pen hehe)
(what does tapones mean?) i really like how the paint wear on the edge of the dred arm look.
i have been looking for a way to replicate that method, so you must tell me ! 10/10

Thank you for your comments and welcomes.
LunaHound but I do not see what you mean by gundam marker and Staedtler, sorry.

Really sorry for the translation ... I do my best but it is quite difficult.
Roughly it is necessary to cross a first coat of taupset ochre with afterward of the washing gryphone sepia. Later, it is necessary to make a mixture 50/50 black chaos and dwarf flesh. Then, soak and dab with the paper that there is in blister packs on the wished places.

You understand better?

Actually the death korps were modeled after WWI belgian and british soldiers in 1917 on the western front.

Actually I think they're more influenced by German and French WWI troops, not really Belgian and British.

They're nice though. I like the color scheme, and I always love seeing more Death Korps minis. You should upload your photos to the Dakka Gallery!

Well I am pretty sure they took elements from all four countries. The gas masks were common among them all. The original scheme for the death korps is obviously german(the grey one) while the trench coats were british and french IIRC.

Wow. Very cool looking.
My favorite pictures are when they are fighting and have Citadel paints in the back ground. Very amusing.
Nice job!

  • Use the torn edge of blister pack sponge to daub the mix on the edges for a random, worn look.

  • Right?

    It's right !

"They actually look like armeggedon steel legion."

Yes, I used the color scheme of steel legion because my friend plays orks (for scripts).

Indeed, dkok have a look German, you can also see in their tanks ...

And finally, thank you for your comments and compliments.

Their uniforms and helmets remind me of late WW1 Germans(Late becuase as the war progressed the pickelhaube(German helmet)was made from pressed velt or tin). They remind me alot more of WW1 Germans then Steel legion.Yet as you have pointed out alot of the elements of the DKOK were taken from WW1 Germans

Great looking army! A tip do is to get some devlan mud wash on your armor on the krieg and then higlight with mithril silver on the edges as this will make the armor more worn and dirty looking. But then again you use alot of brown on your models already so might not work to well for you.. Just a tip, take it or leave it.

    Over and out Avach

Love the colour scheme on your Krieg, works beautifully. Only concern is the metal's very shiny; is it getting inked/weathered further? I wonder if drybrushed might have given it a grubbier feel.

Sorry but my camera broke down ...

So I post to say the promotions.

The Valkyrie is finite rise and the interior is painted, I started to paint the crew of the Gorgon with another color scheme for them (black tunic and red below the sleeves), I resumed the death korps I had and I have rebuilt the base (the base type valkyrie, I think there's more to Devlan mud for depth) and I'm the few details he missed. Finally, I received 5 engineers and two engineers with mole launcher (they are mounted and the bases are done).

Well, I hope to soon make pictures.

PS: I printed a codex that I am for the Death Korps (history, rule FW scanned, photo gallery).

PS*: I just ordered 5 more death riders (when we speak of the devil: p), the Commissioner on death rider (the limited edition Games Day), 1 squad of 10 Grenadiers and 3 mortars death korps the cursed sum € 150 including postage on a forum where a wargamer friend sold his huge army is new to flying any price competition!

dkok is by far the most emotive figures of fw. Maybe it's because they remind me of the horror of WW1 but such a top set and very well painted.

"Roughly it is necessary to cross a first coat of taupset ochre with afterward of the washing gryphone sepia. Later, it is necessary to make a mixture 50/50 black chaos and dwarf flesh. Then, soak and dab with the paper that there is in blister packs on the wished places."

I put the Grenadiers in the valkyrie, it was really good, they're hurting. Otherwise, an infantry squad, a squad that is what ... . Accuracy, I play against the orks (my two friends), which is what might hurt them?

    This is a great army!

I really like the way you've been painting your mounted models!

Are you going to bring them to any french tournament this year?

I love your weathered yellow but what do you mean by

Take the paper to protect blisters
    - Tapones a corner of it
    - Remove the bulk of the paint on journal paper ( for example )
    - Tapones then places the desired figure (eg edges)

    what the hell is Tapones?

    Thanks

Thank you, I ride my army slowly ... .
I do not bring in a tournament, I play with my friends.

Sorry, I'm French and I understand that sometimes you have trouble following me ... I meant stamped ( = tapones ).
    Are you understand now?

    Thank you.

I love the camo pattern you used on the grenadiers, it makes me want to try something similar when i get mine. I dont know if its just from the angle of the photos, but your ogryn look huge compaired to the regular krieg guardsmen.

Yes we must try, besides I do for this camouflage, this is the first time I do.

The ogryns are the true size of an ogre, they are also a great rider and he must think with their bases resin they take a centimeter more ... So no, I think they are too big.

    Thank you!

Where did you get those DKoK Ogryns from? I don't recall seeing those on the ForgeWorld site?
