I'd encourage Dakkites living in the USofA to jeer, spit or fire rounds at Kanye West, a rapper or something, who is responsible for destroying Taylor Swift's defining moment by doing this.
One of these days, someone is going to be ready for him when he marches up on stage. Someone whose response to his flailings for the mike won't be those of an intimidated little girl (no disrespect there to Taylor, but Kanye looked a lot more jacked than her), but of a pissed off man who isn't accustomed to taking gak from triple digit weight egos backed by single digit IQ's.
I'M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM. I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD'VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED! I LIKE THE LYRICS ABOUT BEING A CHEERLEADER AND SHE'S IN THE BLEACHERS! ........................ I'M IN THE WRONG FOR GOING ON STAGE AND TAKING AWAY FROM HER MOMENT!................. BEYONCE'S VIDEO WAS THE BEST OF THIS DECADE!!!! I'M SORRY TO MY FANS IF I LET YOU GUYS DOWN!!!! I'M SORRY TO MY FRIENDS AT MTV. I WILL APOLOGIZE TO TAYLOR 2MRW. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD!!!! EVERYBODY WANNA BOOOOO ME BUT I'M A FAN OF REAL POP CULTURE!!! NO DISRESPECT BUT WE WATCHIN' THE SHOW AT THE CRIB RIGHT NOW CAUSE ... WELL YOU KNOW!!!! I'M STILL HAPPY FOR TAYLOR!!!! BOOOYAAAWWWW!!!! YOU ARE VERY VERY TALENTED!!! I GAVE MY AWARDS TO OUTKAST WHEN THEY DESERVED IT OVER ME... THAT'S WHAT IT IS!!!!!!! I'M NOT CRAZY YALL, I'M JUST REAL. SORRY FOR THAT!!! I REALLY FEEL BAD FOR TAYLOR AND I'M SINCERELY SORRY!!! MUCH RESPECT!!!!!
I met him at Excalibur a couple years ago. His ego isn't as big as you would think. Its more that he lacks any social tact (he might be an aspie, as cliche as that might be).
Actually he was very nice to my friends and I. Bought us drinks and had his (obscenely large number of) guards make sure we could make it to the Broom. May have been related to the general brownness (the guys I showed up with were all Indian) of the group, but still seemed like a good guy.
Being obnoxious at music awards shows is what you're supposed to do. The only thing that's ever made them anything more than three hour exercises in celebrity branding was Jarvis Cocker's effort in mocking Michael Jackson's dance routine at the Brits in, what... 95?
So I don't really have an issue with someone doing something obnoxious at a music awards show. Mostly I just find it weird that someone who isn't 14 gives a stuff about an award that they'd bother walking all the way to the stage to complain about it.
So yes Kanye (whoever he is, I've heard the name once or twice) was obnoxious, not unexpected. I feel bad for Swift (whoever she is, never heard of her before).
I think it's hilarious and even though it's rude it's not as if Taylor Swifts videos even good, it's just a bland video. She just got more votes because she's more popular. Her musics way too bland aswell, atleast Kanye West's songs have a beat and can be quite good/catchy. I think Kanye forgot he was at a 'Mainstream' music award. Not a talent award.

west in a racist idiot who thinks that all the awards should go to the black "artists". They shouldn't allow him at any serious award show, unless they chain him to his seat.
1: what the feths up with his hair? looks like he pissed someone off and they razord most of it in places.
2: he is a spanker and allways has been, known fact.
3: he is a prick and wants some attention, maybe losing half his jaw again might put him in his place
4: i wouldnt mind if his music wasnt half bad, but its pure gak.
5: for someone who sings country music, she aint bad atall, i can listen to her music.
But for her to get an awar like that for that vid, gratz to her, shes done fething well.
dill weed should have been dragged off stage and curbstomped for it.
It is a pity that one fool's ego gets to trash someone else's memorable moment.
It will be different memory for her than it should have been, I daresay. "That was the day I was upstaged by an idiot in front of millions" just does not have the same weight as "That was the day I recieved an award in front of millions and got to say my piece".
Between Kanye and Serena we have had two ridiculous out burst in these few days. It worked itself out in the end. Some got a laugh, some got to watch Kanye make an ass of himself and in the end Beyonce sided with Swift. Though that blog of Kanye's seemed like it was written by a bipolar crack fiend.
My wife had the bloody awards show on last night...this is why I don't watch these things.
I just find myself praying that douchebags like Kanye decide one night to pull a rock star attitude on someone who's really "real" and who kicks the ever-living gak out of Kanye doing mortal internal damage and the douchebag leaves us in a blaze of stupidity.
I'm amazed that he didn't work in, "and she only got this award, because they hate black people." Can we put Kanye and Eminem in a locked room for a slap fight? Whoever cries first is the smallest little man. I almost said, "whoever criest first loses", but then I realized, when it comes to Kanye West and Eminem, it's really the rest of humanity that's a loser.

Taylor Swift is an affront to the concept of "music."
I don't really know what happened but tonight I saw the first episode of the 'new' show: The Jay Leno Show and it had a brief segment with Kanye West (who was there as the music performance with 2 other big names) where he apologized for his actions and fully admits he was out of line.
Meanwhile, has anyone taken time to consider the impact this event has had on the venerable body that is the Video Music Awards? There stands an organisation that has dedicated itself for almost as long as Taylor Swift has been alive to handing out awards to whoever happens to be a pop idol at the time, and where now is their reputation?
Will no-one stand up to defend the good work of Video Music Awards? And if the VMAs cannot continue, who will be there to recognise Best Female Pop Performance in a Music Video?
What made me laugh was the coment made by President Obama were not supposed to go out with the interveiw, they were apparently said "off the record" this makes it even more of a slap to Kanye as it is Obama's true feelings rather than scripted.
The sooner this annoying little man (Kanye not Obama!) manages to fit his over inflated head up his most likely slack backside and dissapear the better
Also, despite not realy liking her, well done to Taylor Swift on her award
Just watched the infamous clip and I lol'd. I guess Bill Burr and I share this quality in common: can be damn funny when gak happens to others.
I have a very low view on MTV and regular MTV viewers, this ordeal seemed right up their drama-infested alley and undoubtedly gave a lot of publicity to MTV, the hot chick, Beyonce, and Kanye West. However without 'em there wouldn't be this entertaining topic.
It's an inciteful article from Cracked. Did you know Kanye West wrote a book? Speaking of, to pull from the recent film "Tropic Thunder" I do not believe Kanye went full slow. Some sort of autistic spectrum disorder, maybe.

I think that guy may be on to something. In this video he looks eerily like "Bubba" from Forrest Gump.

What if he is? As far as I can see, and as far as I know, he's still responsible for his own actions unless he is diagnosed as being below some kind of threshhold. Until then, he's still an assclown.
Like Taylor or not, what Kanye did was very disrespectful. I don't care for polka but I don't poke fun or disrespect people that do.
Kanye should realize as a rapper, albeit a very untalented one (talent defined loosely as most rappers don't have any talent IMO) that it takes talent to be where Taylor is today. I'm not HUGE into country but she is very good with her writing, her voice is excellent and she is very charming and down to Earth.
Beyonce`, who DOES have more talent in her pinky finger than Kanye has in his entire body, giving up her time in the spotlight so Taylor can have what Kanye took away from her (Taylor) really speaks volumes bout how classy she (Beyonce`) is.
I guess unfortunately I now have something I agree with Obama on. Oh dear....
A lot of these "rappers" were actually very talented people before the industry essentially raped them (very appropriate term for this situation).
To become successful you need talent, and I think this is always the case. To maintain success you need a whole lot more than talent, and more often than not that comes in the form of an agency who's primary goal is to squeeze every last goddam bit of worth out of your sorry ass.
Beyonce is talented, I cannot argue with that, but Kanye is a whole lot of other things besides that, and "Jackass" is clearly among them in one form or another.

What the sweet moogly googly are you talking about? The support for Swift has been universal, as has the condemnation of West.
How is the media responsible for the crowd booing? And at an event as staged and full of false contraversy as the VMAs, wouldn't bemusement be the first natural response.
Your effort to contort this to fit the myth of poor beleaguered white people is weak.

Do i need to spell it out every single time?
What im saying regarding the media is , have you seen any news of " Kanye is racist! " at all?
no , just he is a jerk , he is stupid , a douche .
What im saying is media is stupid , scared , and in away racist because this isnt equality .
Because we all know what they'll do and have always done , if its the opposite situation eg , white mistreating black.
It is clear that he is a dingbat... so I see no reason for them to report extrapolations about his agenda.
Besides this... it is Kanye West, no one wants to interview that cat .
That argument you make BTW, reminds me quite a bit of the argument being used against the Reppie activism, or the Teabags persay... hmm, Mr. Teabaggins .
Anyway, this guy is obviously a bit of an extremist, and a sensationalist to boot. This is not one persons opinion, it is a mass accepted "fact". Regardless of him/some Mr. teabaggins being racist, I hardly think that is the sole motivation behind such actions. Beyond this, it is very hard to verify that someone is actually even being racist anymore simply because the term has been so abused throughout the past decade.
Cats are not racist... saying they are racist only makes them racist to your eyes... Raccoons on the other hand are iffy, but usually quite nice to everyone, and if they are abusive, it is only because they survive on trash. Meh... this whole race thing is such a big fallacy anyway, where the hell is the truth at???
LunaHound wrote:Do i need to spell it out every single time?

It could just be, and I'm going out on a limb here, that people aren't saying it was a racist act because it wasn't a racist act. Because, just possibly, and I'm only suggesting this, but maybe there's a chance that sometimes when a black guy is mean to a white girl, it isn't a race thing.
Just maybe. Or maybe there's a vast conspiracy dedicated to keeping the white man down, forcing him into CEO positions and into the senate, and out of the prestigious positions of power, like 'winner of a Video Music Award'.
The point Luna is trying to make I think is that she doesn't THINK it's racist for Kanye, she is trying to say that had Miss Swift done it to Kanye than the media and minorities would most likely have TURNED it into a race thing.
While minorities love to play the race card the media never does anything to disagree or shoot down the idea of the race card.
Christ, the media has turned the Obama presidency more into a race issue than the people that did or did not vote for him.

Yay fateweaver , you are right again in interpreting my sentence <3
Why do people regard the tripe that the media serves as reasonable input? They are there to make money, and by reacting to their idiocy you will inevitably be fueling the fire of the "race card".
Race is a stupid term used to make people feel stupid on both sides. We are all human, and it is getting high time that people in the U.S. seriously take a hard look at that fact, regardless of the medias mindless input at times.
Fateweaver wrote: the media and minorities would most likely have TURNED it into a race thing.
Just like they didn't with Jervis Cocker and Michael Jackson right ?
It's astonishing how people can somehow be psychic and predict what would have happened in one instance/thread and yet mysteriously lose these same super powers in another.

Here is the worst of the media in a nutshell.
a)Because supposedly humans are very vocal , and isnt afraid to share their opinion if they deem something to be wrong. ( i mean just look at our forum lol )
b)The media serves as the broadest way of communication daily news. So in theory a) should be taking effect constantly and correcting and wrong doing by the media.
Thus because of a and b , people tend to trust the media . Like blind faith.

I don't think, I'm positive. Let us look back to the Vick dog fight bust. Minorities (and I admit some white folk) were saying that had it been Peyton Manning or Brett Favre that they would have gotten a hand slap.
To pretend it would not have been made into a "Taylor is racist" situation by SOMEONE is quite, frankly having your head up your ass and not seeing the forest for it's trees. I'm not sure who else was nominated for "Video of the Year" but let us pretend it had been Pink. Had Taylor interrupted Beyonce and said "Excuse me but I think Pink had the best video ever" I guarantee someone would have accused Miss Swift of being racist for saying a white girl had a better video than a colored girl.
Really, I'm sorry that so many people wear rose colored glasses in this country. Racism is everywhere. Am I racist? Not in the slightest but I am prejudice against people too stupid to exist. Kanye is one of them. Beyonce` is too classy to even be on the same planet as Kanye. Jeebuz Kanye is not even classy enough to be friends with the gak in my toilet.
You don't think prison sentencing is a whole other ball park than random event at pointless showbiz event X ? Despite previous things like this having happened before with no hoopla over racsim, whilst there is a fairly well acknowledged isue to do with sentencing of various groups in the legal system ?

Anyone watching would see that Taylor was not going to win an Oscar for acting as she wasn't acting upset. I've seen staged crap on the VMA's and that was not staged.
Luna has a point. As I said earlier odds are had it been reversed race would have been brought into it. I don't want to think it would have been but the realistic side of life slaps me to my senses and says "Wake up and smell the Starbucks dummy."
Race being brought into Vick vs Kanye has the same bearing. Had either situation been reversed their are those out there who would have played the race card. Doesn't matter if you or I agree or disagree, it would have happened.

I mentioned it on page 1, and reds8n mentioned it again a few posts ago.
In 1994, or thereabouts, Michael Jackson was performing at the Brit awards, where he acted all Christ like while kids danced around him. The lead singer of a band called Pulp, Jarvis Cocker, who was mightily trashed, got up on stage and did a parody of Jacksons performance, particularly the messianic elements.
Despite Cocker being white and Jackson black, no issue was made of race. Jackson claimed a few of the kids were hurt or scared and acted kind of weird like he does, lots of people either said 'Cocker shouldn't have done it' or 'while Cocker shouldn't have done it Jackson's performance was kind of wanky'.
But my sentence means what it means.

I'm taking you at face value. You think race would have been a big issue if a white person did it to a black person, despite not knowing of any similar instances where race became an issue. I'm guessing that despite an instance being pointed out to you where a white person did it to a black person and no issue was made of race, you're going to carry on believing.

First up, prison sentencing is a lot more racially charged than someone being a jerk at an awards show. Second up, why not discuss a more direct instance, Cocker jumping on stage during Jackson's performance?
To pretend it would not have been made into a "Taylor is racist" situation by SOMEONE is quite, frankly having your head up your ass and not seeing the forest for it's trees.
You're changing the terms of the discussion. You can always find someone, somewhere that'll make a point about race, or about whatever other pet issue they may have. If Lunahound had said, "I reckon if the tables were turned there would have been some idiots complaining it was racist" I might have laughed and said "yeah, probably, there's no shortage of idiots capable of getting on the talking heads shows".
But that is not what Luna said. Luna said "He is so racist ... so is the media ...
imagine if its Taylor doing that to him , she would be booed off the stage already. (truth) "
Now from that, Luna is asserting West's motivation was racism. He's asserting the media as a whole would be making a racial issue of this. He's claiming the audience didn't instantly boo West because they are also racist.
