Yup, seems like even when I spend hours working to try and help everyone, all I get are trolls who end up making any thread I start locked.

It seems to be doomed I fear. I make an Article, people complain it is hard to read and access.
I make a thread with a PDF download, and the Mods hit it with the Lockhammer.

Whatever, I have grown tired of the double standard of moderation here, where users who will not be named are permitted to continually harass and destroy any thread I post into, while I receive 3 week bans for agreeing with other members.

I thought it was a really good document. I'm surprised to find that it was locked between the time I went to math class and returned.

PM's are a better way to handle this.

Also, why not become a DCM? Probably be better off in terms of mod relations that way since a paying customer is better than a freeloader like me.

It was an Article. And all i got were PMs whining about it being hard to find, hard to read and non downloadable.

All that will happen is Dakka will be $25 richer and I still will get harassed. Also the official line is DCM's don't get better mod relations

That being said, I was impressed that you took the time to make that FAQ of yours. It was good and I think it'll be useful in rules discussions. Some people may even adopt it completely until a more recognized source has a go at it. So thank you for that.

As for the rest, really, by this point just STFU. All you do is whine and bitch when people treat you like you treat them. If you weren't an ass to damn near everyone maybe I'd have some pity for you, but alas, it's spent.

Ive never seen Gwar! treat anyone badly, he justs tells people when they are wrong with the rules and corrects them, unfortunaly this has given him the repuatation of a "troll" as people seem to disagree with him alot.

Hmmm.... well I tell people the rules from a RAW perspective constantly. I do so in a very straight-forward manner, and I avoid making a spectacle or trying to create a "persona".

I've seen in multiple threads where I give the correct answer very early in the thread. People will debate for a bit, or ask for a more definitive answer, despite the fact that I already gave the correct answer.

Then Gwar posts and many people agree with him.

This leads me to believe that Gwar's relatively frequent hysterics means that more people pay attention to him, so therefore he is using more effective techniques for teaching rules.

I would almost say that Gwar's posting style makes him more valuable to the 40k community at large, despite the fact that it also creates some discord.

I'd encourage you to come back and simply ignore him. I find YMDC has been an invaluable resource in helping me to learn the rules better, though I can certainly understand the why to your decision.

People came into his thread and started flaming Gwar because he made an FAQ, indepentant of what was actualy IN the FAQ. They then said the post was just going to turn into a flame warand the thread should be locked, then another post flaming Gwar, then the mod locked the thread instead of taking action against the people causing the disruptions.

I don't always agrea with Gwar's conclusions on how to play the game, but here I am completely.

I can't think of a SINGLE gw FAQ that doesnt completely suck. they all fail to answer any relevant questions, while "clarifying" things that are obvious to a slowed 5 year old.

the fact is, gwar is almost always right.... people who argue against this can go off and play in their little fantasy world, where the actual rules don't matter, just like GW wants... but without people who are trying to create standards for others to play the game by, 40k will become a set of annoying house rules across the country.

1) you named 1 example ... there are several more FAQ's on their site that are garbage. The fact remains that having 1 out of like 10 good documents is not a great track record. Besides, I didn't name an exhaustive list of all crappy FAQ's, I just made a general statement that most suck. You cannot refute that.

2) Because they resolved 1 issue, a good FAQ it does not make. there were several more issues there that needed to be resolved, like the question if the PBS weaken resolve ignores stubborn (INAT says it does, and thats what I follow myself)

3) yes, I know its a fantasy world, but it still needs a standardized set of rules. I'm a college junior, and its quite annoying when people come to my school as freshmen, join the club, and I have to teach them how to play because they play with their own wierd set of house rules back in podunk kansas. Standardized rules shouldn't really be something i'm wanting for, after dropping a few thousand dollars into this hobby, but alas, it is. This is where INAT comes in... if everyone just starts using that, we will be much better off. I know those involved in the formation of that document frequent this forum, and will probably take GWAR's SW FAQ into consideration when creating an INAT FAQ for SW, for which I am grateful.

Many times someone will come to the forum with a question that definitely has a black&white "correct" answer via the rules. If a member posts that answer, does it do any favor to the original poster or to the community as a whole if that answer is continued to be debated?

Farmer, I don't recall seeing you around the site before. I wasn't planning on posting, but every post you've made in this thread has been offensive, derogatory, and just plain unnecessary. You are, in short, the biggest troll in this thread. Gwar has his fans and his enemies on this site, but for the most part, they're all long time users, and contributors(sometimes) to Dakka, like Gwar himself. You just seem to have jumped on the , 'I h8 Gwar! lolz' bandwagon, for the sheer pleasure of trolling, with the hope of not getting taken down a notch for it because it's Gwar.

I find this sad. I've disagreed with Gwar! before, but, hell, what the devil is going on with this thread? I believe the Valk/Vendetta are only fast attack choices, but IIRC from what I've seen of the codex, you can take them in squadrons, and you can also deploy units in them.

The issue that I have is more that Gwar!'s thread got locked because other posters couldn't control themselves. I didn't really notice Gwar! doing anything provacative in his thread, yet people still felt the need to come in and attack him. For that, his thread got locked. lolwut? Maybe Gwar! should just be perma-banned now, y'know, otherwise certain members just won't be able to contain themselves. Not reading the thread, but as an article moderator (and non-active 40k player) the
only issue I had with your FAQ was the use of spoiler tags. Why invite to answer everyone's
questions and then try to hit it with the spoiler tags?

It was spoilered because I was concerned that it might affect the real INAT FAQ decisions. Also, having it a PDF makes it easier to apply the Creative Commons Licence.

Well think of it this way, if it affects INAT FAQ, that can only be a good thing for both FAQs.

I personally find the amount of trolling in this thread to be appalling , and i wonder how did it get to page 4 without any of the trolls been banned yet.

So far im seeing 4 people that trolls gwar! on regular bases to the point that the mods need to lock a legitimate thread.

To be honest , i dont think locking an innocent thread is the solution , banning the trolls themselves are.

Trolls can be killed with fire.

This thread has received numerous complaints for behavior.

Unlocking because I have been called out and just found out about this thread. Amazing what happens when you go to sleep for a while.

1. I closed the thread because an article was more appropriate for what he was doing. We have articles on tacticas, painting, etc. etc. THATS WHAT THE F cking articles are for.

2. I had no problem with the "FAQ" itself. I think it would have been better served as a compendium of issues that were spotted and how they could be looked at from a RAW and HTP (How To Play) context. Yakface has seen fit to re-open it and I am down with that if kept in this context.

3. Public disclosure. I don't go to YMDC any more unless there are reports. The hardline RAW attacks on every post, even those started to ask how should something be played in the real world, have driven me from that forum. I use other boards now for that. The Fact a Mod, and a mod who generally holds that RAW should be discussed as an initial starting and the primary source for most queries, has been driven from the section should say something.
