What was your most satisfying kill?

For me the best thing about facing Tau is killing the ethereal. There was one Tau player I gamed against where we had this running gag about how he would have to summit a request form to Tau’va for another ethereal after his died; this would require his commander to explain the fate of the previous Ethereal. I would actually tactically disadvantage myself to take these guys out. I kept making the joke that eventually they were just going to cut him off and stop sending Ethereals to their deaths.

I have killed Ethereals using the following means:
Barbequed by fire dragons.
Picked to the bone by scarabs
Crunched into a ball by a wraithlord
Hooked on slave snares
Eaten by zombies
Cut down by a lascannon
Mind warred by a farseer

Afterwards we would create the mock dialog between the commander and the Ethereal Supply Center:
Commander: “Yeah, I need another Ethereal”
Center: “What!?! What we just sent one to you, what happened to him?”
Commander: (Sheepishly) “ Um, he was swarmed by metal insects and reduced to a skeleton”
Or
“We were fighting the eldar and his head just exploded”
Or
“Well a skimmer flew by and it had these chains that caught him, and well they just flew away with him”
Or
“Zombies, the less you know the better”

But the all time best was when I was playing my EC and I turned his Ethereal into a spawn. My opponent argued that since his ethereal wasn’t actually killed, but transformed his units should not suffer their moral break tests. I agreed with this, proclaiming that it was fine with me that they would take the tests after I forced them to beat their ethereal to death. I made sure he ate a bunch of them first.

The dialog was along the lines of:
Commander: “Yeah, this might come as a shock but I need another Ethereal”
Center: “Awe hell no, no way am I sending you another ethereal. What are you doing over there; you know you are expected to protect these guys right? I have to look them in the eyes when I transfer them over to you, what happened?
Commander: “We were fighting these pink and purple space marines and a large four-arm creature burst from one of them and pointed at the ethereal. The blessed one transformed into a hideous screeching beast thing and proceeded to kill and eat his bodyguards – the firewarriors had to beat him to death with their pulse rifles, trust me it was a mercy killing”
Center: (Weeping)

The next game I had against the tau player I was disappointed to see that he didn’t field an Ethereal. When I question the absence he shrugged his shoulders and said the center finally cut him off, they refused to send any more ethereals to their inevitably deaths - the chaos spawn was the straw that broke the camels back.

Back using the 3.5 chaos codex. I had a Slannesh DP slaughter a Khornate DP in a single round of CC. He then went on to take down 6-7 Bloodletters before finally dropping.

I had a lone grot (last survivor of his unit after they got charged) kill an assault marine in HTH. That was pretty funny. 1 attack, one hit, one wound, one failed save. The grots still lost combat, but that little bugger went down fighting.

When facing Deathwing for the first time with my IG during the last codex. I was losing terribly, just straight raped. But I swarmed his command squad and beat them to death with lasguns in HTH.

Once, I was playing against space marines (The great unpainted chapter). Marneus Calgar stepped out in front of a truckload of Meganobz. I waaaghed, roared up and tore him into little litty pieces. Caused like a dozen unsaved wounds. Granted, because they struck at the same time, he killed four of the Meganobz, but who the hell cares, right? The mantra of the Orks is "Kill all you want, we'll make more!"

The most satisfying Fantasy Kill.

Had a unit of Trolls wiped to a man by a wood Elf Dragon, but had gotten the dragon to its last wound.

After a sporadic bout of vomit, the Dragon lay dead, the troll looking on in awe.

Indirectly having a Big Mek kill himself plus all those within 3"(which was a squad of 12 grots) in while shooting at Logan.

My favorite would have to be:

SM vs. SM (5th ed)
Turn 1
Opponent goes first, rolls up a land raider 12", fires at my assault cannon razorback, fails to pen with a lascannon.
I move to the side and see my only possible target for the razorback is the land raider, so I fire. Three shots hit, one shot rends, and I get the full +3. Roll for effect: 6. The resulting explosion killed a full half of the TH/SS termies inside.

Turn 2
His termies catch my razorback in assault, but only cause a single immobilized result.

The following round of combat see both the assault cannon and the storm bolter on the razorback knocked off. The game lasted 3 more turns and at the end of it the razorback still wasn't dead. After 6 rounds of combat. In a kill point game.

This happened over a year ago and I still taunt the guy over it.

Most satisfying kill?

We had played campaign, Eldar vs. Witch Hunters. With an even amount of losses and wins on both sides we were ready for the main battle. Not apocalypse, but a solid 2000pts.

After a gruelling match I was left with an Inquisitor my Canoness, and a ragtag remnant of storm troopers and sisters flooding into the main strongpoint of the eldar defence.

It really was cintematic. My sorry remnant of an army tore through thier ranks, felling and torching eldar left and right, but try as I might Eldrad (that dick) narrowly avoided the fray, fleeing the building with one wound left.

I can imagine that cintematic moment as my Inquisitor and Canoness vengefully look for the mastermind behind this, as Eldrad staggered out the building, bleeding and holding his side. He leans against the wall, sighs in relief and looks up a 20 lasguns staring straight him. I can imagine the growl of the commissar "No prisoners." and the snap/crack of those lasguns. Yes, we got him.

I think it has to be My kroot merc fight.

I was against SM and he had charged his commander, in terminator armor, into a kindred of mine, I got quite a few hits, and he saved about 4 out of 16 attacks, died before he could even get a hit in. haha.

In game, I killed a Bloodthirster with a Deffkopta Mekboy once, under 3.0 Kult of Speed rules. 2 wounds from shooting, 2 wounds from shooting again in the assault phase.

Today I had a most satisfying slaughter... I was playing Space Wolves against a local Deathwing player, and before the game we picked a sergeant each from our respective armies to play out 'The Lion and The Wolf,' as per tradition. We both picked a dual-claw Terminator, naturally, and the Wolf Guard slaughtered the Deathwing Terminator Sergeant without taking a scratch.

In the killpoints game that followed, my opponent managed to knock out no more than a Rhino, and by the end of the game had I Belial hiding behind a buiding with a couple of terminators and a Master of the Ravenwing flying around trying desperately to score a second killpoint. It all very much reflected the result of the pre-game duel... a satisfying kill.

Last turn of a 1vs1vs1 game. My chaplain stood alone as he entire assault marine squad was killed in the last few turns leaving him on his own.

He makes a save from 2 lascannon hits then a railgun. The look on their faces was enough when i made each inv save but was made even better when my Chaplain then shot at the tank that had tried to shoot him and destroyed it with his plasma pistol on a lucky glancing 6.

(This was in 4th Ed rules when glancing could destroy on a 6)

At the 'ard boys tourney I had over 132 models on the board (Orks) my opponent was playing Necrons. She decides to Deep strike her monolith right in the middle of my boys. This was stupid because I had two squads of 30 boys with a nob with PK North and South on the left my 10 man nob squad w/PK and on the right I had Ghazkull and Meganobz. When she decided to do this she starting to laugh and talk trash because I was going to get shot to hell. She even stated she wasn't even going to use the particle whip (insulting). So my turn, Ghaz and Mega nobs charge it and one of my Meganobz walked up and popped it. She was pissed and sulked the rest of the game.

Back when I played Grey Knights, I had a Grandmaster and retinue charge the Nightbringer. I think the Nightbringer went first, killing two Terminators. Then the Grandmaster went and, surprisingly, got a single wound in. Necron player failed his save, and after quickly checking to see if C'tan were immune to Instant Death, my Grandmaster one-shotted a star god. Sure, the resulting explosion killed the entire retinue but the Grandmaster survived. Probably in spite.

The second story goes like this: Dreadnought charges all that remains of a Death Company squad: Lemartes and a single Death Company marine. Lemartes tries to set a Krak grenade but no good. Dread swings three times, hits twice, wounds once, and Lemartes goes 'pop!' In return, the Death Company marine, in an act of composed violence, calmly stabbed the Dreadnought with his sword through the eye slit, turned around, and walked away slowly as the Dreadnought sparked and blew up behind him. Movie style.

Damn that was a fun game.

Most satisfying, that's a tough one, and it might not even be in 40K. Blasting my friend's Atlas was very satisfying...even if hard.

Most satisfying in 40K has to be my boyz mob beating down my friends terminators. It came down to nob VS 2 terminators, and they killed eachother. I was like "perfect! they wiped eachother out."

Probably a quarter of the wall of the Imperial Palace plus almost everything on top of it when my FLGS ran the scenario during 3rd Ed.

The wall had Armour 18 or 20, IIRC, one of my Khorne Terminators with Chainfist(back when MoK was +1 St and added it before doubling with fists) rolled a 21 total for penetration.

I have 2 most satisifying kills:

1: My Grey Knight Grand Master was charged just by an Orky Dread and about 25 Orks. Using Hammerhand to give him S10, he punched his Nemesis weapon through the Dread and the subsequent explosion killed every single Ork in combat with him.

2: My friend's Nightbringer was tearing through my armoured columm at which point it charged my Command Executioner. He declared Death-Or-Glory and spetacularly failed, rolling a double one for penetration!! He was heroically ground into the mud by a few IG tank crew.

"Ok Jones, full speed ahead"(BUMP BUMP)"I think we hit something. Adams, go round the back and see if you can scrape it out with a stick"

I have 2 from memory, 1 fantasy, 1 40k.

Fantasy, queek the warlord at Gamesday Baltimore:
-clanrat unit gets charged by De Lord on dragon (back in days without hatred), Noble on Pegasus, and unit of dark riders. His lord challenges, my lord accepts. Takes 1 wound from the lord, saves everything else. Squeek the warlord, splits his attacks 3 vs dragon, 1 vs DE lord, all hit, all wound, weeping blade, each doing d3 wounds. Dragon dies, DE lord takes 1 wound. Noble and Dark riders do 1 wound to skaven unit, unit kills 2 dark rider. Skaven win by ALOT, run down the Noble on Peg and dark riders and De lord. I admit, this NEVER should have happened. Skaven Warlord had a 3+ save, and 4+ward though..

40k: My unit of 10 + 1 slaver grots get charge by 5 thunder hammer swinging terminators. Grots swing first, and kill 3 terminators, with all 3 wounds coming from grots, Terminators swing, and kill 1 grot. Grots win! Termies fail, get away. During my next turn they shoot down the remaining 2 terminator. Re-dunkuless... seriously... silly. My opponent looked at my and said "grots,... really.."

Noble mention: My Doc Vs Vampire counts in a GT level game. Turn 6, unit of bloodcrushers and herald take off after skeleton bunker, Herald/Juggernaught killing blows 1 vampire, blood crushers killing blow the other... bam, 600 vps on turn 6+ 100 for general. Granted it was with demons, but it was that moment where in my head i said "wow... demon's are busted?"

best kill ever was in apocalypse. we had 5 baneblades and a shadowsword and the enemy had 2 warhound titans and about 5 landraiders. my demonettes come in from the back with flank march on the first turn (we won priority) my herals DP threw a vortex grenade at one of the warhounds. "schhhwoooomp!!!" 2 structure pints gone. then my demon prince charged the blighter and ripped its head off. it went into meltdown with a megggggaaa explosion. everything in the radius of the blast died...

except my DP and 2 demonnetes. so they cannot use their titan at all. at least 600pts wasted. whats more is in their turn, b4 they could use the other one, the vortex grebade scattered onto the second titan. and guess what? "schhwoooomp!!!" gone.

the next funniest kill was a suicide. i was playing tau and being owned by the nids. my etheral had already been killed (very humiliatingly) like 500 times that month, so when i find the etheral backed up at the edge of a cliff, with a 2 foot drop below him with spiky rocks at the bottom (a huge fall and dangerous terrain) with 20 genestealers and a broodlord about 3" away, spanning the length of the cliff so i couldnt run away, i decided enough wwas enough and i would not allow another humiliating ownage death by my enemy. ( i had already been ripped apart, eaten, spawned, burned, sliced, baneblade cannoned to the face) so i promptly jumped from the cliff and died.

best by far was when my last plaguebearer took a shadowsword gun to the head, and survived.

Others include when my ork nob (with powerklaw) took out my a rune priest that costed around 130pts. And when my lone striking scorpion exarch (with scorpions claw) charged a 150pt chaos lord, firing its shruiken catapault, inflicting a wound only to survive all the lord's attacks and proceed to finish it off with its powerklaw. It was an assault from behind as well. So cinematic!!

My venerable dreadnought with a destroyed CCW managed to duel Abaddon and win. It took like 6 rounds of combat, but was totally awesome. I've never seen so many 1s come from Abaddon.

Another battle with Abaddon had him rampaging through my Dark Angels and my allies' Blood Angels and Guard back in late 4th eidtion. We lured him into a firing line, where he was surrounded on 3 sides by shooting. Over 1000 points of shooting later, one of my Dark Angel plasma gunners finishes Abaddon off. At the same time, Azrael duels a Chaos dreadnought and gets a glancing 6, killing it.

Oh 4th edition...

Ah, I just remembered.

A tzeench chaos lord with deamon weapon makes his way towards this small group of guardsmen. (the Platoon Commander and his surviving buddy)

He shoots at them, but wounds himself with the Deamon Weapon. I move, I shoot and wound him with my bolt pistol (and he's in termie armour). I then charge him. He has one wound left and strikes first. He rolls a one. Kills himself with a deamon weapon.

Of course, my platoon commander took full credit for it.

My most satisfying is by far the first time I played a game with my Orks. In the middle of the field was a SM commander with relic blade just kicking the poop out of my boyz. My warboss finally got up there, I assaulted but went last with the PK. I saved all my cybork saves (I think it was 4? saves. maybe 3 cant remember) then my boss landed all his attacks, and the SM failed ALL of his saves. It was SO hilarious the look on my opponents face. The commander is just unstoppable and then completely man handled by my boss.
I still remember that moment, sometimes it even gets me a little cocky, but I think rightfully so

My dread with a twinlinked lascannon shot at a baneblades front armor and got a pen shot, which then went on to:

Get 3 6's on the chain reaction table,

14" on the apocalyptic explosion,

which killed 4 squads of infantry and 4 chimeras,

3 leman russ tanks,

2 squads of ork boyz,

another structure point from a nearby baneblade, which exploded killing a few more infantry units,

and disabling a (teammates) stompa.

All from one Lascannon shot.

My most satisfing was in the last tournament at my FLGS. My marines vs nids. It was dawn of war deployment and I had first turn.
On my side, 2 drop podded melta dreads. On his side, his HQ (a hive tyrant I think) and 2 groups of stealers. My dreads could barely see him (21" visual, target 21" away). All shots got off, wounded with all of them. Tyrany goes down.

For a first turn, I'm calling that a pretty awesome round of shooting.

Necromunda - Long

In Necromunda I played scavvies, my gang used plague zombies and had two huge mutant lizard guys called scalies (Phobos and Deimos). One was my favorite tricks was to have one of my zombies walk off a high catwalk and land on my opponents models. The fall inflicted a strength hit equal to the distance fallen in inches, so a fall from the third story inflicted a strength 9 hit. The model my guy lands on has a 4+ chance of getting crushed along with him. I found myself confronted by space marines and genestealers, I didn’t play 40K at this time, but knew enough about them to know that I should be intimidated about fighting them with my poorly armed and trained sewer people.

I get picked up into a game with 3 guys I didn’t know. I was “partnered” with a standard gang and one of our opponents played 3 space marines and the other 3 genestealers. Necromunda allowed for 2nd edition 40K to be incorporated into the game, all you had to do is multiply the price of the 40K unit by ten to get the necromunda price. A lot of people would refuse to play against such things as space marines, genestealers, or spyrers because they were viewed as gang killers and the opponent didn’t take the same risk of losing beloved characters to the battle– results in a game carried through and your guys could get injured or killed, so the game was a little more serious than typical wargames.

The three genestealers rushed towards me covering an insane distance and scavies where generally poor at shooting. My scaly Phobos who bravely position himself in a vanguard position threw a tox bomb at two of the genestealers – the guy then states that the genestealers are immune to the weapon (tox bombs hurt models with respirators in the necromunda, its more of an acid attack then a gas, but I didn’t challenge). They then take out Phobos and proceed towards my gang. My combined gunfire down one out of the duo and Ringworm (all my scavies where named after diseases) bravely stands on ground level plugging ineffectual shots at the advancing tyranid – he played the role of bait.

My ace in the hole was a zombie standing on the top floor of a building above the genestealer who was right under the building edge. I surprise the three guys I was playing against by marching the ghoul off the building in an attempt to body slam the tyranid. The genestealer player defiantly didn’t see this coming and started arguing about my ability to do such a thing. I told him it was clearly in the rulebook and he took the hit on a 4+. He didn’t like this and stated that it was obliviously an initiative test. I told the group this wasn’t my first zombie drop and I was sure it was based on a 4+, the other player was just as sure it was based on initiative. I spent like 5 minutes flipping through my rulebook but I could not find the rule (this always happens to me in disputes). Well the two other guys rule with their friend and the genestealer player takes his initiative test and rolls a 6. The model is wounded and goes down, then my opponent starts saying that he actually passes because the genestealer had an initiative of 7. I was however, able to find the rule that a roll of a 6 always fails and the bug stays down. The guy looked like he was going to have a hissy fit, but was just able to contain himself.

The genestealer was now downed. A downed model has a chance of recovering, but is automatically removed if an enemy model moves into contact with it. Ringworm runs up to it and takes it out of action leaving one genestealer for my army to contend with. My opponent looks like he is coming apart at the seams but is just able to hold himself together. Because I am a bit a dramatic person in these situations and I enjoy provoking people I act out the scene using a slurring, mutant, inbred ghoul voice, “Thiisss is for Phooo - bos, Bang, Bang, Bang” while making the gun gesture towards the floor. It took the rest of my gang dog piling the bug to pull down the last genestealer (about 12 models including zombies); I only lost a few zombies to it.

The space marine player blasted the other player to bits (think turkey shoot) and then turns his guns towards me. My remaining scaly had a spear gun, which is my all time favorite weapon. It was basically a bolt thrower which inflicts a strength 6 hit and would carry a model D6 inches backwards with the possibility of taking more damage if the model hits a wall or better yet gets taken off an elevated position. The marine player argues that his huge marine would not be carried by the spear - I responded that my ogryn sized scalies don’t have spear immunity nor should his guys – my logical was impeccable and the group conceded the point. The huge, power-armored, super human takes the bolt to the chest and gets flung off his perch. So, I take out one of the marines by impaling him and dropping him from a three-story height and then hide the rest of my army behind cover. The marine player taunts me and tries to provoke me to charging across no-man land to his two man gun line, I decline, but invite him to come to me. The game is called and my army wanders away leaving the two space marines in their building. Well my sewer boys take out 3 genestealers and a space marine, which in the Necromunda setting was pretty major. Phobos lucked out and rolled impressive scars instead of getting crippled or killed.

Khorne lord with daemon weapon and wings deep strikes to take out a isolated veteran squad. Plasma guns all miss him. Lasguns all miss him/fail to wound. Sarge hits and wounds him with his shotgun and he fails his save. Next turn the Lord charges the squad. Wounds himself once. He is promptly mobbed to death by the veterans.

One of the very first games my buddies and I played when we got into the hobby gave me my most satisfying kill.

My SM playing buddy has a 5 man termie squad in the middle of the table. The turn before, a unit of my boys rolled up in a trukk and disembarked behind it. I was ~10" away after disembarking and with the trukk in the front I knew that the termies couldn't get around to assault me, and I could just move it on my next turn and assault the termies with the boys.

So, on my buddies turn the termies take shots at the trukk. It gets destroyed and the KAREEN! result is rolled. I roll the scatter and roll double 6's right in the direction of the termies! The trukk rolls off that way, explodes and hits all the termies with the explosion. Saves are rolled and, wouldn't you know it, two 1's come up.

So, it's my next turn. My 11 slugga boys and their nob move up 6 inches and open fire on the termies. I get an insane 7 hits. The termies roll their saves and roll 4 failures.

We were both utterly stunned.

I managed to wipe 8/10 Dire Avengers in a single shot from a Defiler's Battle Cannon. This was right near the start of the battle, and the Dire Avengers hadn't even had a shot yet

Apparently this angered the Exarch and his one remaining Dire Avenger, as they charged towards my Daemon Prince. A lucky Shuriken Catapult shot took a Wound off the Daemon (which had already been wounded a bit, leaving it with one wound remaining). They then charged the Prince.

- Daemon Prince hits with ONE attack, which then didn't even Wound.
- Dire Avengers shove a Shuriken Catapult in the Prince's face and wound it. And yes, I failed it's save.

Two of my favourite kills come to mind [not technically satisfying, but they're the closest I can come up with]. Oddly enough, both were against Tau.

The first was when I was playing my Dark Angels against them. He had an Ethereal standing in cover, with some suits and firewarriors nearby. I went first, and I proceeded to aim a Plasma cannon on the Ethereal's head. Surprisingly, it doesn't scatter, the Ethereal fails his cover save, and dies, causing several units to run off the board, and the others to rush forward into the waiting and powered arms of my Deathwing.

As well, many months later, I was playing with my Imperial Guard against Tau in the middle of a small tournament. I had outflanked my Valkyrie behind his corner. After delivering it's payload, it couldn't do very much - he had placed his objective in the center of the roof of a building, too far in for the Valk to contest. However, there was a Devilfish nearby that it could glance - then I remembered it has special shields on the front. So, I moved the Valkyrie behind the 'Fish, shot a multilaser into it's rear, suprisingly penetrated it's armor, and wrecked it. It may not have won me the game, but it was neat, killing a tank with an anti-infantry vehicle.

Heh mine is from when i first started out. My tyranid friend rolled for reserves and smirked as he put his lictor in some cover behind one of my infantry squads. He assaulted and only killed a single guardsman; on my attacks all of the remaining guardsmen beat the lictor to death with rifle butts. Really good rolling on my part, and terrible rolling on his. I just love the image of a lictor leaping out from behind a tree, killing a single guardsmen, and then getting knee-capped by one guardsman, then beat to death by the rest.

With 3rd edition orks, killing a GK Land Raider on turn 1 with a forward deployed Zzap battery is well up there. Suddenly my opponent's confident grin became a worried frown.

Another ork one, BFG this time, I rammed a crippled kill kroozer head on into a Hive Ship and killed them both. Awesome. I wanted to model windo wipers onto it after that.

The greatest thing was, I had not cast doom on that unit. Sometimes the Dice love you. Most of the time they don't.

Hmmm...

Way back in 2nd edition, during an "Apocalyptic" battle, I had a Farseer who took out 7 genestealers in HTH before finally going down...

But my favorite has to be from 3rd edition, when my Nurgle Terminator Lord (also named Vilegrimm, coincidentally) was down to his last wound, and got charged by my opponent's remaining Carnifex. In the ensuing combat, I carved him down to 2 wounds before getting ready to suffer the inevitable death. the Carnifex caused 3 wounds on Vilegrimm, so I said to my partner (we were playing a mega-battle with 2 generals per side), "No problem; I just need 3 5+ saves and I'll kill him next round!" So I pick up the dice, and roll a 5, 6, 6. My opponents looked on stunned, and I chuckled a bit before proceeding to chop the Carnifex apart the next round...

THAT was satisfying.

Both of these were back in 3rd edition.

I had a pack of bloodclaws charging into a unit of Kroot. The round before they were within range, they were decimated. My 3 bloodclaw survivors charged valiantly into the hoard and managed to kill a half dozen kroot before 2 were pulled down by the rest of the unit. I won the combat, they broke and ran, I swept and wipped the unit out (15 or so kroot gone). Unfortunately I ended my sweeping advance 3 inches from his second unit of kroot and went down in a blaze of glory, but what a way to go. Incidentally, the same game had my wolf lord hit by 3 broadside battle suits from across the table... 3 rail gun shots... nothing was left of him.

The second great kill found me playing my tau force against tyranids. My shas'o was moving around the flank and found a perfect position on a piece of terrain to launch my missile from. Unfortunately my perfect position had a lictor hiding in it. It took three rounds to kill the thing. Whenever I get around to painting him, he'll now have a silhouette of a lictor on the side of his suit.

My Dreadnought landed behind my opponent's Rhino full of Chaos Space Marines and blew it up; the explosion killed two of them. My Scout Sniper Squad and it's Heavy Bolter wiped them completely out. My Vindicator was going to fire at his Demon Prince, but then I realized that we had forgotten to roll for nightfight for the Scouts' shooting, so I rolled for it and allowed him to put all the Chaos SM's back in the crater they were in.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Another Necromunda one:
When playing with my terrain I granted a special benefit for winning the battle or accomplishing something of merit in the game. The player got to graffiti a piece of my terrain with a pen. This led to some interesting taunting and established animosity between gangs and even individual characters within a gang. The guy who originally lured me to Necromunda was my regular opponent and had the habit of just butchering me for my first few games. His graffiti was especially nasty. When he killed one of my young braves if left a tag on a building that read “I put down Dog Meat right here” with an arrow point to the location where if capped my guy while he was clutching a gut shot wound.

My shaman had the power of curse dance. What that meant was if my shaman spent his whole turn dancing around instead of doing anything else my opponent would automatically lose all the initiative tests that he would take that turn. I originally didn’t see the point of such an ability and reasoned that my shaman would be better utilized in the direct conflict. But in later games I saw the upside to such talent. Whenever a model was hit with a ballistic weapon they were pinned and could recover if they had a buddy next to them. If the model was pinned within an inch of an edge to a building or other elevated position they had to pass initiative test or fall off it.

The next game my shaman sat behind my gang and danced away. My opponents guys where placed along building and catwalks and every time I hit one of his guys with a musket round he would plummet to the ground - I had a bunch of his guys crawling around the floor level down with serous injuries while I continued to pump ammo at them.

The next time I played the guy he seemed eager to face my ratskins again. He apparently had a foolproof method of defeating me and my dancing shaman. His gang went out and all purchased support cables that he used to hook his gangers to the building. The way the rope work is that instead of falling you just hung off the side until you passed a strength test and pulled yourself up.

I gun each of them off their perch but instead of falling they just swung around on their wire. So his army is swinging around while the rest of my army save my shaman and Dog Meat II plug gunfire into the piñatas. Most of his guys were downed at this time so they just hung there bleeding while I continued to gain experience for each wound I inflicted on them. Dog Meat II instead of joining in with the other guys was sprinting over to their building to avenge Dog Meat I. He ran to each anchor point and cut the wire sending the hanging meat bags to their demise. My graffiti at the bottom level was something along the lines of, “Today at this location the carrion eaters feasted like never before”. Nothing is sweeter then than avenging a fallen comrade - I really miss Necromunda, one of these days I will try to get a bunch of people playing again. But paying 25 dollars for a gang is such a huge price commitment to request from a wargamer.

Warmachine

We used to have this horrible Pressganger in the area and he only did the job for free stuff. He would regularly take the most broken list and beat people down regardless of their play level.

I would regularly see him 1st or 2nd turn kills on kids during demo games, the worst was when this kid came in with only 3 models, the only ones he could afford, painted to a very high table top standard with realistic weathering and everything and kill before he could even do anything.

Needless to say any kill on this guy is satisfying...

So play testing the MK II play test rules Terminous(HIM) vs Reznik(me)

he runs Terminous up next to a full squad of Mechanic Thralls since that was the uber cheese on the Privateer boards at the time and uses up all his focus and declares it my turn. I look at him and say "okay now I kill you" he can't believe it and says that "I can't shoot him down" and I aggree.

I activate my arc node and move him up into range, activate Reznik and use Brand of Heresy through the arc node onto Termnious, I then activate my Reckoner heavy warjack with full focus and charge Terminous. Needless to say thanks to the autoboosting attack and damage rolls Terminous was just undead paste after 2 hits.

He then whined about how rude I was since this was supposed to be a learning game for MK II, nevermind the fact that this was just a trick from MK I.

Second favorite is against the same guy.

He tried to charge his Angelius next to eSeverius over this giant rock in the middle of the field. I calmly tell him that would be an illegal move since Eyeless sight doesn't ignore obstacles, he gets mad checks his card and aggress he cannot do this but since eSevy is all by himself he says he'll just run it up next to him instead and kill me next turn.

I activate eSevy and explain his special rule where he gets +1 strength for every fury on the model he attacks so now I'm up to Pow 14. I then cast his spell which gives him boosted attack and damage rolls. I proceed to 1 time his stupid beast by rolling only sixes.

He actually almost cried since its his best/favorite painted model.

Killing TFG FTW!

Thanks,

Here are three more Necromunda kills. They don’t really fit the actually fit the spirit of the thread as I feel rather bad about them. My observing friends, however, really enjoyed mocking the player whose character was just butchered in an undignified manner.

First) I had a multiplayer game at my house and people were encouraged to bring their own terrain so we could put together a large piece of the city to have our battle. One of the guys brought a large vat of acid that was about one inch of the ground in height be but gave the impression of dept. The rules he wanted to use for it was that any model that fell in was automatically killed with no injury roll and all their equipment was lost. I felt this was a little harsh and suggested that it be downgraded but I was veto by the others who like the absolutism of the outcome.

The vat was placed on the board and a player put a catwalk connecting two buildings that was directly over the vat. During the game the guy who brought the vat had an experienced ganger who he was particularly proud of, he had skills in combat and movement and was able to travel 12 inches across the catwalk clearing the vat so he was not a risk of falling into it if knocked off the catwalk under typical means, and venturing to an unprotected flank of another player’s gang.

The ganger made the mistake of exposing himself to my Speargun Scaly who hit the ganger and due to the special rules of the firearm I mentioned previously, carried the poor character into the vat.

Second) While playing my ratskins I played out a shootout mission with a delaque player. The mission called for one selected character from each team to slowly approach each other with pistols holstered. When one guy makes a move both test against each other using their initiative. This mission was far from favorably to the ratskins as I only had one model with a pistol, a BS 2 brave in a loin clothe.

He picked an experienced ganger with shooting skills and I picked the only suitable candidate. The youth had one secret, major thing going for him. He had stumbled upon an ancient piece of technology that used the rules of a meltagun, but took the form of a pistol.

My opponent is rather entertained by setup and expects to waste my young savage with proven ease. My juve’s nerves breaks and they both go for their guns he fires two shots with his bolt pistol(skill) and my juve hits with his one shot. My guy lucks out with a flesh wound. My opponent laugh off the one hit because his ganger has two wounds and flak armor. His jaw drops when he is informed that my ratskin had a super advance energy weapon that vaporized his character. It was like David verse Goliath, but instead of a stone and sling, David had a RPG.

Third) My ratskins hired a special character named Mad Donna. She has this special rule that if she takes a character out in hand to hand combat that she would tear them to pieces by repeatedly lashing out at the prone model. Every hit that wounds would require the player to make an injury roll that was immediately applied it to the model. During my first game with her she dropped a ganger and then began brutalizing the guy for the rest of the game. She crippled limbs, gouge out eyes, cut off ears, punctured his chest cavity, and amputated limbs. The worst part was making the player roll out all his injuries until he eventually rolled a killed result. After that game Mad Donna was banned from game play in my circle, and I ended up converting the model to be a leader to my slannesh cultists.

All three encounters took place in multiple games or with audiences. In every case there was someone(s) there to salt the wounds. “Ha ha, your favorite character just got killed sucks to be you”.

In recent memory, a single Kroot.

Let me explain.

It was a carnage game - I was playing Marines, there was another Marine army, a Tau army, and an Eldar army. I was on the bottom left-hand corner. To my right, the other Marine, ahead of me, the Tau, and in the opposite corner were the Eldar.

I decided that my goal for the mission was not to complete the objective, but to kill as many Tau as I could before the game ended. Tau went first and for some reason moved towards me, giving me first turn charges. My first act of the game was my Emperor's Champion challenging the enemy Shaper in combat. The Predictably the Emp's Chump squished the Shaper, and the Kroot ran for the hills.

The Kroot never regrouped, and spent the rest of the game running, getting shot, until there was a single Kroot left. The last act of the game was my Emperor's Champion finally catching that last Kroot 5 turns later and cutting him down.

With that the Tau only had 5 models left, most of them killed by me.

My most satisfying kill was... well a series of them. My ironclad dreadnought podded in behind an IG gunline complete with two LRBT's and a big blob squad of 30 guardsmen holding my opponent's home objective. Turn one: after landing right on top of the big squad and firing the two heavy flamers there are no guardsmen left on the objective. Turn two: Ironclad proceeds to run after a LRBT and smash it to bits with his siesmic hammer. Turn Three: Ironclad charges towards the IG command squad fires the flamers and charges slaughtering them all. This was the first game I had used my ironclad in and I have never gone a game without it since. Pure ownage.

Maybe not satisfying, but most memorable...

Back in 4e, I had a unit of bloodletters charge into a unit of Tau Crisis suits and annihilate them to a man. Then, they consolidated into a firewarrior unit and, next turn, annihilated them. Unfortunately, they were whittled down to only 1 remaining bloodletter.

When I got home, that bloodletter ended up gatting a base decoration. A Tau head painted in my buddy's black & red color scheme on a pole/spear sticking out of his base.

You see, once he was all on his own, he proceeded to walk through 2 more Firewarrior units & another crisis suit unit by himself, winning combat & making them run off of the table (or catching them and eating the rest of the unit). IIRC, he beat the Crisis suits and ate them all because, while they did no wounds to him, he ate a shield drone.

He lasted until the end of the game as the sole remaining member of his unit and Khorne only knows how many kills under his belt.

(edit typos)

and today in an APOC game, my FW GUO was catching fire from about 8000 points of guard/SM, he was at 7 wounds and looking pretty grim. then my opponent comes in with a decked out inquisitor lord with all the demon killing equipment, grimoir of true names, anoited weapon, etc, totally wiffs his attacks and Fatty eats him, i found that enjoyable.

One of my tactical squads was stuck in hand to hand with a killa kan, and it was tearing it's way through my Marines. The sergeant's powerfist whiffed it 3 rounds in a row, when the corporal stepped up and shoved a krak grenade up it's tailpipe, destroying the vehicle and saving the squad. He and the sergeant survived, and as a reward for his service, I painted an Orky looking explosion on the corporal's kneepad. Since then he's fought in tons of battles, almost always the last man to die in his unit. Whenever the sergeant whiffs his powerfist (distressingly often) the corporal manages to do the job. He killed a Tau battlesuit commander, and his killcount continues to grow.

Fantasy a while back now.

My old Druchii (think the second army, on third now) v's my mates Dwarves in a 2000-2500pt battle? (can't remember exactly, but we both had lords and plenty of troops.)

He had a huge unit with 20 Ironbreakers, General, Standbearer and a Runesmith in it. Looking like they will be a major hassle to deal with so I'd been trying to avoid it.

My Witch Elves the turn previously had finally wiped out a small unit of Trollslayers but had lost their Frenzy in the process in the first round.

He charges them, forgetting I'd lost the frenzy and I flee, he still curses me for using such an underhand tactic, but hey I was playing Druchii.

Then my turn comes and its a pretty much perfect set up for me as Executioners head in the front, 8 Cold Ones in the side inc Lord, Chariot in the other side and a Manticore with Beastmaster in the rear.

One messy CC later, Dwarves flee and splat.

That was pretty nice, and is the best moment I can remember. It still comes up in chats, years later.

edit - oh and if you was wondering why he tried to charge them, he was hoping to drop them in a round (think there was only 7 or 8 left) and charge into the Executoners on the overun, and if I'm remembering the charge angles would have stopped the Cold Ones being able to charge, and would have place terrain between the unit and the chariot. (I admit it was a bold move, but it turned into a lovely move for me. )

Fantasy:

The best one recently is a Great Unclean one, who had just charged into my flank in a big combat, rolling double one's for his Miasma...then double 4's for the miscast.

I was playing a Morghur list, so suddenly what was in our combat's flank wasn't his 10 wound Great Daemon, but my 10 wound Chaos Spawn!

40k:

There have been a lot. One that sticks with me is having the Deceiver misdirect off some crushers and catch up to Kairos. Rerolls wut?

Dark Eldar warrior with a blaster.

Squad disembarks in front of a Leman Russ. Warrior aims and destroys the tank. Next turn, a Hammerhead (2 vs. 2 game) tank shocks the squad, and the warrior death or glories it. Two shots, two tanks.

300+ points of tank to a 13 point model.

Dropping three Manticore missiles on a Chimera was fun. I killed it! I kind of wish I had shot it at a juicier target...

My cc fex taking out Mephiston。 I was using it as a distraction whilst my tyrant finished off a vindicator and rhino。As expected Mephiston gets a wound on my fex, but fails his psychic test to instant kill it。 With my return attacks I squash him。 Very satisfying。

Ah yes I just remembered another probably more satisfying kill.

I was using my Vet IG army, which at the time was not complete so I had to impliment some Infatry platoons to fatten out my army. I was aginst my same ol' SM opponent, And it was going rather well, and During one of my shooting fases proved rather nasty,
My opponent said quite clearly, "if you kill one of my terminators with one lasgun I'll forfit the game"
I commense shooting, not rapid firing I might add, A single Lasbolt(laserpointer) burnt the Terminators eye thus killing him out right. Oh the satisfying feeling that laserpointers are somewhat deadly, on the rare occasions.

Unfortuinatly he didnt forfit and manged to bring the game to a draw.

Mine just happened tonight. My 1500point SM Army vs. his 1500 point DA army. My 1 tac squad must've killed close to two squads of his Terminators, and I got my first Heavy Support vehicle kill. I got a direct hit on his Land Raider with an orbital bombardment, and wrecked it. Mind you, this is the 4th serious game I've played and the first time using a 1500 point army.

2nd ed, my greenskins vs Chaos.

One of my squads of 30 grotz opens up on a 5 man squad of chaos terminators from just inside their max range.
Kill one.
Next turn, both sides close, I lose 5 grotz, he loses one more terminator.
CC rolls around... grots come out on top!

Here are two encounters that are somewhat similar to each other. Both take place in the early days of third edition 40K.

I agreed to play a game against an opponent’s warhound titian(he had a dated 1st or 2nd edition model) that joined his chaos army. The guy had found some rules for the vehicle in a non GWS website. It cost about 700 points and had crazy moment rules and about 10 void shields. I was playing my raider heavy DE and spent much of the game chasing and shooting at the titian. I forget the exact movement rules the titian used but it was able to outrun my entire raider army. I rolled an enhanced assault move for my wyches’ combat drug effects and by funneling the titian I was just able to have my wyches assault it using the raider movement, fleeting, and assaulting 12 inches. Then I rolled lucky on my haywire attacks and stalled the titian and finished it off next combat round. Later my opponent approached me with the information that the author of the web rules had changed the price of the warhound from 700 to 1500 due to feedback he was receiving to his site.

I later played against a super baneblade with player made rules and managed to get my large seer counsel into combat with it and they hacked it to pieces with their witchblades. It was rather rewarding to butcher that monster in a single round of combat, I ended up rolling something like 5 glancing hits and 8 penetrating hits.

Necromunda Game, I was using my Van Saar gang vs my best friends Cawdor gang.

He had several of his gangers and his leader on top of a three story building firing at my gang. His leader, who was right on the edge, takes a wound and gets knocked off the building, the resulting fall leaves him in the battle but knocked down on the ground level. One of my gangers takes a frag grenade and tosses it at the gangers on top of the building. It scatters and falls off the building RIGHT onto his leader. The explosion taking him out of the game.

We laughed for a long time describing the wounded leader staring up at the grenade as it falls from three stories.

He rolled stupidty on the chart after the game and had a mentally challenged leader from there on out. It was definently one of my favorite Necromunda moments.

Nice to see another necromunda comment. I had cawdor and redemptionist as regular opponents as well. For those who didn’t play, redemptionist were a 40K mix of the KKK and the Spanish Inquisition the cawdor where like a toned down and legal version of them. It always was satisfying to fling them off buildings, set them on fire, swarm them with zombies, or throw them in the pot and eat them when playing scavvies.

I don't have a most satisfying, which is a bit sad to be honest.

I do have a least satisfying!

My friend plays Eldar, and he's ridiculously good. I ran a genestealer list against him and had a broodlord with retinue and a squad of genies on an objective. He unloads a serpent full of harlies and they end up assaulting the broodlord's squad and the genie squad in order to pour "no retreat" wounds all over the place. Lord+3, and then 7 more genies vs 10 harlies and the harlies charged with rerolls to hit. I could see those two squads exploding into nothingness.

I took a total of 16 wounds, he took 14. After saves (rending on them, not power weapons), I had 7, he had 5. I lost by two, saved both overflow wounds. Next round the lord and retinue are dead and it's 4 genies vs 5 harlies. With rerolls to hit the remaining 45 harlies proceeded to 6 hits, 12 after rerolls. Zero wounds. The genies then wiped the squad and kept the objective.

I've never seen luck so horrible before. Not even when I watched a taun player fire 24 shots and only hit with 2. My eldar buddy had REROLLS and still failed to perform.
