Anyway, Im up to 3 times a day at the moment - once at home, then a jog to work at 32 Degrees - shower at work, then a jog home at 39 Degrees - shower again.

Once when i wake up
again when i come home
then once before i sleep.

More during summer.

At least once per day. I may take a bath if I am tired after work or I will shower if I have a date. I always shower after any workout.

For those who are washing more often, have you considered the damage you could be doing to your skin? By washing so often (especially if you use relatively harsh soaps) you are actually killing the layer of bacteria on your skin which protect you from harm. Not to mention damaging the skin underneath.

It is one of the reasons that health professionals in hospitals etc don't just wash their hands when they more areas or before/after seeing a patient, but also use barrier creams and moisturisers too.

So, if you are washing a lot, either cut down if you don't really need to wash, or use softer soaps and/or moisturisers.

Plus you cut down on your water and power consumption and help save the planet (woo!) if you shower less - saving you money.

I try to get 1-2 a day in, but it reall depends on my mood

Once per day unless i work to hard and have to get clean. Or if i bath before bed, for some reason i have to at least shower in the morning. so i guess up to 3 times a day rarely but most likely once a day.

Edit: just for FYI though, i have 2 kids, they bath once or twice a week. im not sure if thats relevent but i do like talking about my kids every so often

I got washed every day when I was a kid

Every couple of days on average, my days off are spread out in the week, Tues and Sat, and unless I'm going somewhere or I need a shower its rare I take one on those days.

Basically not willing to waste the water when I don't require the shower. Although I'm more likely to take daily showers in the summer.

In the winter its not uncommon for me to take around three showers a week.

I had a major paranoia attack about a year ago, I was showering about 3 times a day, but 1: my mates told me I was being a little bit crazy, and 2: I realised it was a little excessive.

Well , in the unusual day of me not getting myself dirty i wash myself 2 times a day ..

But weekends i only shower sunday , since im busy soicalizing most parts of friday - saturday ..

Oh , and in the summer i wash everytime i go home from being outside ..

If something hot/dirty (temperature/visible uncleanliness) has happened I will wash even when not sceduled to do so, otherwise I wash(like at a sink with flanel and soap) every morning at the least and bathe 3 times a week...as this is the internet and I am anony-mouse (apart from having my name up there...) I admit to being lax in the extreme over these point's when I know I'm not going out or am ill.

After some disturbingly detailed analysis of my cleaning patterns, I'd loike to point out that (as the survey is about) I make sure I'm clean before going out for any kind of social interaction.

once every two or three days, I rarely get dirty so i have no need to bathe often.

Normally once per day, in the morning as soon as I wake up. If I've had heavy or dirty work and have been sweating or am covered in mud, I would wash again afterwards, but my job rarely makes me sweat.
If I'm socialising after work though I might consider showering again, depending on how clean I feel.

Wait a minute. Is 'wash' considered taking a shower or bath? I read that as washing your hands, which I probably do up to 12 times per day. I only shower once per day, unless necessary.

I wash once a day every day in the morning to wake me up and get me out the door. Unless specifically needed I take no more then that, thinking that it can wait until tomorrows shower.

As to the stereotype everybody baths at my FLGS, and in addition my store has a list of commandments posted on the wall, the first of which is "Thou shalt bath"

But,to answer the topics question,at least once a day,twice if I've gotten particularly dirty.

I think we need a poll "how dirty are you" - and wait for all the fun misinterpretations!

I've apparently been blessed with an uncanny ability to not look and smell terrible, no matter how unwashed I am. That said, it varies greatly. At times, it's multiple times per day (especially those humid summers when the shower is about the only place you don't feel gross), other times once every day or two (if you don't work up a sweat, dry winters give you quite a bit of leeway before you hit any significant skankiness). I have gone unseemly amounts of time without bathing, and plenty of times, don't get me wrong, but hygiene for me is more about health, for my own benefit, than to avoid an offensive odor and/or appearance.

I wash when i feel dirty so its 2 or 3 times a week in winter, and 2 or 3 times a day in summer.

I work in a body and paint shop, not only do I wash frequently, I have to clean my hands with laquer thinner several times a day to prevent the paint from building up. I attribute the fact that I almost never get sick to my constant chemical exposure, I doubt whether germs or bacteria can even live in my blood! The downside is that I will probably eventualy come down with some horrific form of cancer that they will name after me, or my future children will be born looking like chaos spawn.

I bathe in freshly spilled blood! Lord Khorne sayeth AIDS is my soap, Hep A my shampoo and Hep B my conditioner!

Sometimes however when I walk (Metal Bawkes are for cowards!) to the FLGS to take skulls in his NAME! It rains and washes off the blood. But praise HIM the smell of it remains to comfort me.

once when I get up and get ready for school, and once before bed, I have gym last period... , and on the weekends once a day is usually enough, unless it tourny day, then it's twice.

Playing on the interstate, up to the waist in a steel conduit feeding fish tape through 400 feet of sludge (wet mud, road dust, mouse gak), I'd like to be continuously showering.

Add in 85+ degree temperatures and it gets even more fun!

I hate summer.

I was myself in a devln mud everyday folowed by a wash of badab black, then i get my towel and scrape it under my pits and use the chaosee black substance, and put it around my edges too highlight that.Then some spit is added to the mixture and i carefully apply that on top of th highlight to create a extreme highlight . That way i stay very nice and modelly >.<

If I'm doing any physical activity it's just going to the rec. center and swimming, so the chlorine will ward off the nasty stinks.

when I have a shower available its got to be at least twice a day, but if there's only a bath (like at the moment) its once a day, just can't be bothered waiting for the bloody thing to fill up :(

Once per day. I am fairly adamant about this and do not like being un-clean. (Though Papa Nurgle is still dear to my heart).

I make exceptions, usually when camping is involved, or if I'm only being delayed a few hours (such as coming home from a trip/party, etc) then I won't shower in the morning. I will, however, attempt to remain as clean as possible in the meantime.

I'm close to obsessive, but nothing serious, and I can easily drop the compulsion if it would inconvenience others, especially on trips, etc.

Probably average 1.5/day. Depends on if I hit the gym or not.

I also only shampoo a few times a week, which actually gives me compliments on my hair. But I can't go a day without washing my skin at least once. Trust me, not a good idea.

I'm sure everyone will say they wash all the time etc and I'm not big into stereotyping. But I have to say at my local GW there is quite a large percentage of regulars with a terrible BO problem.

You really have to explain this poll better When I clicked on it I thought you were talking about using washes in painting, and then when I read it I wasn't sure whether you meant like laundy bath/shower or hands.

Yuck, there are people who admit to bathing less then a few times a day.

I wish there was an option for 1 to 2 times a day, it varies for me.

I shower twice a day and shave everyday then I apply my man moisturizer and check to see if my eyebrows and noise hair is under control you guys can flame me all you want but woman will always like hugging me because I smell nice =) however washing anyless then once a day without a medical reason is really gross no matter what your climate/job

Once per day. I'd really like to be able to shower twice a day, but finding the time is hard. It's split about 50/50 if I do it in the morning or a night though. It honestly don't think it's enough, as I feel pretty groty sometimes.

If I'm absolutely sure I'll have no human contact for the next 24 hours, I might skip day just to be lazy. However, I have to be really sure I'm not going to be around anyone. It's just plain wrong to not bathe and then, subject people to your rankness.

All you can do is try and keep your distance and not let them get their funk all over you. I think it's ignorance mostly, some folks just don't get how ripe they are. Certain people just need to be told that if you're over 10 years old bathing is not at all optional.

Once per day. When I wake up and just after my first meal.

I will only take a second shower if I have been doing a lot of exercise and that is very very rare.
It is very annoying though because I am a sweaty person in any heat and usually only under one arm...which I find ridiculous.

I wash every other day, but I wash my hair and face every day. I don't(for myself at least) see the point in washing every day or even more often unless I trip into mud or something like that. I also very very rarely sweat(I only sweat from heat, not from physical movement, and I live in Alaska... so yeah), so maybe that's why. I honestly think our culture is a little obsessed with washing ourselves, but eh, whatever.
What I do is quite normal, the people who actually shower every day is the people who have mohawks or straighten their hair or whatever. Everyone else washes just about every other day and sometimes once a day in Alaska. Some less, but they're a minority(and they do stink, that's true).

Almost ironic. If you have to wash 2+ times a day, and people didn't know that, you may actually be perceived as the stereotype of the nerd that doesn't bathe. (see, b/c if you wash 2 times a day, it could possibly be because you sweat or stink easy...therefore making others possibly conclude you don't bathe)


edit: oh, btw, I put once a day (before bed), although sometimes it's twice a day (if i conjure up enough motivation to go to the gym in the morning).

By "wash" we mean a bath or shower right? Because I wash face and brush teeth at least twice a day, and wash my hands loads of times because I work in a lab. In fact I have to use moisturising cream because constantly washing my hands dries the skin.

Normaly once or twice a day ,but more in the summer.

I got as a basic guideline once each second day..though if I'm just sitting at home doing nothing, painting or such I sometimes wait a few more days unless I got plans.(*sigh* I need a more timefilling social life).

I try to take a shower at least every other day, but I almost never do anything that makes me sweat or so, and I just moved to a new town where I don't really know anyone so it's not a lot of social interaction. Three times a week is probably more realistic.

on a serious note, twice a day. An ork choppa (preferably not the chainsaw one) provides a good way to get to those hard to reach places beneath your toenails. ironicly i am writing this from in the shower, although that might be a terrible lie.

How often do I wash? Well, that depends on how much I get to paint that day and how far along I am on it. Usually basecoats take so long I feel like washing a couple of times for good shading is too fast. If you count glazing too that increases the frequency, especially when I paint paler or lighter colors.

Other; it really depends on my mental state. Suffering from the depression I do means that i'll be fine for a few days and i'll probably shower once on each day or once every other day, but if I hit a low spot then I usually won't be in any mood to do anything except lie in my bed and sleep, and that can lead to me not washing for a few days at a time.

If I'm exercising or [BALETED] as well that day, then add 1 or 2.

you might want to finish reading what you posted before you make such strong statements this is taken from the *how stuff works* article

I do agree very much that not everyone needs to shower every day.... But certainly not showering for several days nauseates me even thinking about it

I did read it: "showering ever day may not be as damaging to some people as it would be to others" implies it is damaging to everyone -- just more to some than to others. And, well, as has been pointed out, showering doesn't necessarily *get* you clean, in any meaningful way -- it just makes you *feel* clean.

It's a huge waste of water or energy to shower every day, let alone 2-3 times a day. All for the sake of one's *feelings*? WTF? No wonder the planet is off to hell in a handbasket. :(

I live in Australia, so water can be quite rare 'round here.
So I only wash when it rains...which is alo quite rare considering that it's Australia and we have more droughts then rain.

Day's are always terrible unless I come out of the shower red like a lobster.

I am a clean freak when it comes to my body....its a shame that I don't feel the same way about my room I keep both my kitchen, bathroom, and hobby room very neat, tidy, and spotless though.

The fact that their are people that dont wash at least every 48hrs discusts me.

Meh....Living in a place like NYC, you tend to not worry whether a person washes every 48 hours or not. It'll be a problem if they hadn't showered for week though. But you don't really care if half the air you breath in is cancerous.

Once a day, occasionally twice. Haven't washed my hair in months though. Keep it short, then around time to wash it I buzz it.

Every other day. (including hair, that's the most important, and visible part!) ... clothes get changed and I wash my face daily, though. Proper long bath too, I don't think showers get you properly clean since it's just a light spray of water on the surface of the skin rather than a proper hot soak to really get rid of the dead skin and other gunk.

I work from home and get barely any exercise, there just isn't the need for it.

Exceptions are if I'm going out or have been out.. or if it's a really hot summer day... then it can be as often as twice a day.

If I'm not in contact with other people I don't feel the need to bathe daily... can't stand going 3 days without though.

Its all situational to be honest, some unactive people that dont sweat, live in a cold climate or have dry skin can go for days at a time without becoming noticably smelly or dirty.

Once every two days. Being a girl and having a very dry skin, it would be really bad for me if I had to shower every day. My skin and hair actually feel best on the second day, on the shower days I usually feel itchy. I don't use any soap, only shampoo for my hair. god if I had to use soap my skin would most certainly crack right open XD I can't tolerate any ointments either. I just have to take quick showers of 5 minutes or less... I'm so glad I'm not sweaty at all, it's still easier to take care of dry skin than having to shower twice a day (that would be a nightmare for me).

Once per day, If i dont have training of some sort on that day. Which most likely makes it 2 times a day the majority of the time.

I'm in the healthcare field. People don't want to smell my armpits, and I need to be sure I don't contaminate my patients or my tools with blood, spit, sweat, etc. thus, I wash and groom constantly.

OK, I'm confused. Does "wash" mean "bathe/shower" on DakkaDakka? As far as I'm concerned, washing is the thing I do with a sink and bathing or showering is the thing I do with a bath or shower.

My usual routine is a shower every morning, shampooing every other day (or daily but more lightly if I've been using styling products), and a face wash every night. Additional face washing will be used as needed if I want to look my best when going out somewhere.

At leats once a day - in the morning before work. Often in the evenings, too. Especially in the summer.

Once per day, just before bed, unless something happens to get dirty then more often.

Its part of my "get ready for bed" ritual.

brush ma teefs
lock the doors
tuck in the kids
climb in bed and realize I have to get up in 5 hours for work...

Once per day. If i get gross, more than that.

once a day when i get up.....
i may worship chaos but nurgles only 1/5th of that power.
besides hygenes important.

Well when Im done flying around and eating people, I always visit the near waterfall. Sometimes there is anxious dragon hunters and one time a darn Dragonborn! At those times, I usually pass. This happens to me about every second day.

One to three times depending on how busy I am. Generally, once when I wake up and once before going to bed.

Whats with all the every day washing people, that seems a bit excessive to me -unless you sweat a lot.-

Once or twice a day. Though this is kinda due to smoking and my lady hating the smell

Actually, I normally shower in the morning, and sometimes take a scalding-hot bath in the evening if I need to relax. Rather than being a fat sweaty guy, I try to be a clean fat sweaty guy.

The only reason anyone would have

enough energy daily to sweat perfusely!
And I know damn well that most of us
"gamers" don't have a job in that line
of work. So either quit lying about it
or quit wasting water!
