Though they can be used well enough, I've heard unending whine about how bad they are...anyway:
Cultists (don't exist) are not really an option anymore. Scarabs (fast attack) are not a troop choice.
Nor are Ogryns (elites)

Because you never, ever jack up a selection in a survivor game early on (Here, and like you have done to NZ in the 'COuntries of the asia pacific' thread) . It will get sniped before the end.
You just let the one you want sit idly by/ pump it enough to keep it in the middle of the pack, and snipe all the other selections.

It was a bit off though IMO, Ogryns as guard's weakest troop? What happened to conscripts?

In terms of effectiveness, Ogryns are next to useless. They can barely survive against other dedicated assault troops. A squad of 50 Conscripts with Karamazov are legitimately scary in close combat.
