So, I guess I should first introduce a truly foul sense of humor. Next, I would introduce the by-product of that truly foul sense of humor.
This is my first army. I started working on this in April in an effort to quit smoking. I haven't had a cigarette since, and now I have a pile of painted plastic. I think I got the better end of the deal.
Let's start the introductions:
The Kitchen Staff
Usually found hanging out in the kitchen avoiding the customers via the advent of long ranged weaponry.
Drive-Through
Efficiency is paramount. You don't even need to leave the comfort of your vehicle to enjoy a quick bite.
Counter
They are the face of the enterprise, greeting each and every new customer with a smile.
The Grill
Making sure everything is grilled to perfection.
The Day-Shift Managers
Managing the day to day operations of our enterprise. If you have any complaints, please contact your nearest dayshift manager.
"Lot"
Just another way we like to say "Thank You!" to our customers.
Rah-Nuld
Our current and most beloved mascot.
Before you even ask - Yes, there will be more. I hope to be updating this weekly. I hope you all enjoy.
I personally love the origonalty of this idea, and find the humor in it. My only suggestion would be add a few little things in each of the mobs. If they work the drive through give them headsets as this would reinforce their role in the place.
LunaHound wrote:I was hoping the teeth on the dozer blade would be shaped like fries lol
Wait until you see the kans. I think you'll be happy then. I'll try and get another angle on the tank, as the top looks a lot like the fries you may be looking for.
Death By Monkeys wrote:Any plans for Grimace or the Hamburglar?
I don't know of this Grimace or Hamburglar you speak of (as they are copywrighted characters, and that would be a very horrible thing to do) , but rest assured this army will have a big mek with KFF Named Grimm-Uss, a Cheesy Mayor warboss, as well as another warboss that is a Mac that also happens to be REALLY Big. There are also plans for a commando squad leader that also on occasion will burgle some ham.
Thank you all for your wonderful replies. I am thankful that this army has been as well-recieved.
Love it you should do deff-koptas or bikers as delivery Mcdonalds people (believe it or not I have a Mcdonalds near me hat delivers the food, never ordered though.) Or use a battlewagon as the deep fryier.
Squigs done up as chicken nuggets! Burna boyz that spurt burning hot coffee! The possibilities are endless. And I only worked at McEvil for a week! (The timer buzzers were the first thing to give me a migraine.)
zeronyne wrote:What about squigs as those little French Fry things?
These are just awesome. I can't wait to see a bastion (over 4 Billion Killed).
I have the gretchen/grots as the fry guys for now. I have been working on a plan for the squigs. It will likely (for the time being at least) be the "hamburger patch" from some of the commercials from the Sid and Marty Croft days of McAdvertising.
Clthomps wrote:You should have them all standing on 25mm "All Beef Patties"
I plan on having those as objective points. I became obsessed with creating a McMuffin McGuffin (largely in that all objective points are mcguffins anyway, and it's really fun to say out loud). It will be done.
WarhammerTabletop wrote:Love it you should do deff-koptas or bikers as delivery Mcdonalds people (believe it or not I have a Mcdonalds near me hat delivers the food, never ordered though.) Or use a battlewagon as the deep fryier.
That is freakin' awesome. I didn't know they did delivery. I will be doing the Deffkoptas to look like the mopeds they drive around. I found some pictures online after reading your post. Oh yes, it will be done .
Garuss Acine wrote:Awesome, just pure win, now someone has to do an Dunkin Donuts IG army.
See, PART of this terrible idea started back when I got into Dawn of War for the PC and assigned a fast food restaurant to all the playable armies. As it stands, IG are White Castle. It wasn't until Dawn of War 2 that I realized the proper choice for Dunkin' Donuts was in fact the Tyranids. It just makes sense once you start to think about it.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and I would love some help finding someone to assist me in making some waterslide decals. It turns out I know NO ONE with an ink-jet printer (which is very, very odd if you ask me), and was thinking maybe I can work out a trade with someone for the printing and the paper with some graphic design (I'll either lay out badges so you can print already existing ones, or we can talk and I can come up with an illustration for you for layout and print).
Freehanding those little M's is harder than one would think.
Anyway, if anyone could see it in their hearts (or clearly broken brains) to help me out with this, PM me. Thanks.
Lord Shag wrote:Hopefully this other angle will display the "fries" a little better.
Hey, wait - what if you took the Ork Glyph that are the teeth and tusks that you painted yellow there and turn them upside-down - it'd look pretty durn close to the Orky Arches!

In order to bring you the freshness you deserve, we are always working on new ways to impress our customers.
Da Shuttle- Config. 2
All we can say is those fries don't make themselves... or do they? Please make sure you have secured your coffee safely before driving.
I gotta be honest, I just wanted to do this model straight. It looks cool without me messing with it. When I get around to making another one, I'll convert it all to hell. For now though, I'm happy here. Hopefully if I get the waterslide decal thing figured out, I'll be able to smack this with the appropriate logos.
They will never kill as many humans as McDonalds food.

Glad to be of service, Also another idea for killa kans make them look like a drink with a straw on top THAT would be hilarious!

No, sadly. Although I do look forward to attempting to match them. I have about 70 years to catch up on.
And you has been reading my thought-meats. If I end up getting a stompa, I was going to make it a giant replica of Grimm-Uss.

I wouldn't say I'm gonna try and encourage you, but let me add that it would be sad to let a franchise opportunity like this pass you by...
And thank you on "Drive Me Closer..." I couldn't stop laughing when I saw the demotovational poster, and now I can't stop laughing at my own model.
notprop wrote:I opened this thread through my fingers expecting the worst, and am pleasently suprised, this is really well done.
Good work keep it up mate. Would like to see gun barrels painted like McD's strippy straws though!
I can see that happening sometime in the near future...
MeatShield wrote:Maybe this is a little cliche, but I think the best Dunken Donut army should be police, so arbiters seem the natural choice to me.
You may in fact have a point. I was just coming at it from the roach angle. You have identified a much larger variety of pest that tends to inhabit Dunkin' Donuts, and therefore more threatening.
Three months into my project is the first time I saw that and almost cried. Thankfully it looks like whoever made that only made the building, and didn't really do the army.
This is what happens when you order things on ebay. At least, if you order things without reading them on ebay.
"$15 bucks for two trukks?!? Hell yes!"
two weeks later
"These are... kinda small."
So, this is where I'm at on converting the first one. I'm thinking about finishing it to look like the Playland ball pit. Suggestions are welcome.
PS: Still looking for help/suggestions in the waterslide decal department. Either hit me up PM or in-thread. Thanks.
gretar wrote:My dad has the kinda printer you speak of at work . If he's up for it , you can get it if you only pay shipping(ie. almost getting it free...)
Thanks for trying gretar. Sorry things didn't work out.
Well, since I have been swamped with... well, everything lately, I haven't had time to update. I did have time to go to a game auction a couple weeks ago and picked this up.
Which I have already mangled to an ork-like degree. I'm thinking about filling it with round multi-colored beads and making it the Playland area (I want to find some ork-sized Habitrail bits to loop in and out of the sides too... who knows what will happen in the end though).
I also finished up the Nob Biker Squad (also known as the Delivery service). This group took a lot longer than I thought it would. Them bikes are a lot to paint. I'm particularly proud of the green stuff banner. There will be better shots of the whole squad after I paint the banner. I don't bust out the whole nice-rig unless I'm going to take the final pictures of a group.
Sneak peak of the Grim-Uss. As it stands, most of the awesome is going to be in the paint job on this guy. I managed to add a burner though, which I'm hoping will help the deep fryer squad (5-15 burnas in a battlewagon). I have also added eyebrows, but it's probably really hard to tell with the eyebrows being white like the rest of the primered model (sometimes I jump the gun and primer the guy right before a couple good ideas hit me)
And a sneak peak of the mayor. Sorry for the blurry picture. I didn't take too much time with these shots as you may be able to tell. Green stuff hat, sash and logo (angle prevents being able to see the logo.). I promise good pictures later. Just proving to a few of you I'm not dead.
Hope everything went well for y'all during the holidays. I'm out.
Yggdrasil wrote:I've just stumbled on this Plog, and....
WOW that rocks!!!
You could add the McMotto to your trucks in foreign languages: for French it's "C'est tout ce que j'aime"
(which is closer to "That's all I love" than "I'm lovin' it", but I'm not in their translation services so...)
Anyway, I had a good time seeing them, and even my girlfriend found them funny (THAT is something I have never managed to do)!!!!
You are on to something there. I like the idea of doing the McTaglines in different languages. Very cool. Thanks for the idea.
Which brings me to my question : Do they translate ork-speak into other languages in foreign codexes? Can anyone post a sample? The hell is "humies" in french? Or " Shokk attack gun" in Cantonese?

You're welcome, it's always funny for me to see the miscellaneous changes in tone from one language to another, so that seemed cool to me.
Lord Shag wrote:

Yes of course they try to.
Some quick examples that I can find now, under the template English ork speech / French ork speech / French real words.
Lifta Droppa / Leva Lacha / Lever Lacher
Fighta Bommaz / Chassa Bomba / Chasseur-bombardier
Weirdboyz / Bizarboyz / comes from "bizarre" which is the french for weird/odd/strange
Red wunz go fast / Tou s'k'est rouge va plu'vite / Tout ce qui est rouge va plus vite (All red things go faster)
Killa Kan / Boitkitu / Boite qui tue (that is, a "box that kills")
Actually, some like "Boitkitu" for "Killa Kans" are terrific translation, really funny, but we lose most of the fun with the translations... The simplest orky reduction -a for -er is sometimes applied just like that, but it doesn't have any sense in French, since we don't have many words that finish in -er, plus we we say it quickly, it will never look like an -a!!!!
So sometimes, they take the decision to keep the words as is, and that's the best for me...
A Dreadnought is a dreadnought, a Grot is a Grot... a KFF ... un Champ d'Force Kustom!!!
Firstly I would like to point out that this is an awesome army, you have taken a theme and applied it in such a way that it looks good, without destroying the orkyness of the force!
Secondly I would like to demand a hamburglar-counts-as-snikrot!

I have a hard time with internet sarcasm. I can't tell if you looked at the first page of the plog and saw the Rah-Nuld or not.
Breotan wrote:Need squigs done up as those french fry goblin thingies that they had back in the 70s before Sid & Marty Kroft sued their asses.
The snotlings are the fry guys so far. I was thinking about making the squigs look a little more like the hamburgers from the hambuger patch.
And now I present the Happy Meal, aka Lunch Box. Enjoy.
Great stuff here I really like the mayor over the top Top Hats are poor win. I can remember reading the Gersman for Tankbusters and grinning Panzer Knackers just appeals to me!
Others have said it, and I'll say it too, this is amazing! Your paint scheme is solid and carried out well. I think my favorite bit is the McWaaagh! banner (I love seeing people's interpretation of Waaagh! banners!) and yours is perfect!
Please keep up the good work. I will definately being checking back on this.
You have inspired me to do a Taco Bell themed addition to my Plague Marines army. (I'm thinking diarrhea guns instead of plasma guns and cockroach riders instead of bikers.)
warpcrafter wrote:You have inspired me to do a Taco Bell themed addition to my Plague Marines army. (I'm thinking diarrhea guns instead of plasma guns and cockroach riders instead of bikers.)
I would arm the plague marines with bowel-disruptors. Sure, there's killing someone with poo; but doesn't more joy come from killing them with their own poo? I'm just sayin'...

It looks like your wait may not be long. I started on the kommando squad this weekend after a very successful bit-trading say at the local game shop (btw - Hat's Games RULES!). There is also another project en route. WIP photos to come soon.
The Good Green wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonaldland#Characters
Any plans for "Birdie the Early Bird"? The frie kids would make great snotlings for a SAG run by "The Professor".
There is even a "Captain Crook" pirate!
I can't wait to see who you make next. They have all come out so amazing already.
Zagstruck is looking to fill the Birdie gap when I figure out why I would use him. Assault after deep-striking is neat, but every time I deep strike the Storm Boys they quickly earn the title "Crack Suicide Squad"... maybe I'm missing something, but Birdie is currently low on my list.
But, I am gonna have to start branching out into later McDonaldland characters soon. Captain Crook is an obvious choice when I get around to some Flash Gitz (lower on the list than Zagstruck), but the Professor might get used sooner than later. I was going to finish the Big Mek/Grimace thing off with a Shokk Attack Gun, but I feel it would be kind of a cop-out making him Uncle O'Grimmacy (Gee.... green ork. Such originality...).
Again, thank you all for the encouraging comments. I'm not sure my behavior SHOULD be encouraged, but thank you all for doing it anyway!
Uncle O'Grimmacy would be kinda redundant as far as green on green goes. What about making him a dread or something? After all, the mek gets to bring one as a troops choice. Sort of a family tag along.
I opted to not get Zagstruck after having too many problems deep striking the stormboys (85 points to be able to assault after a deepstrike didn't make much sense to me), yet I still wanted to do Birdie so I opted for Warboss/Big Mek (works as either so far) on a bike.
Here is the beginning of the effort... more to come.
Would love to see a Heavy Support piece that fires the unbelievably scalding hot and somewhat toxic apple pies, with one of the dispensers feeding the piece and pile of empty wrappers discarded on the floor!!
Should get these boyz in there somewhere 'luvin it'
Brilliant scheme and executed well tough this all brought back memories. Twisted memories. I had to search their source from youtube. I succeeded.

Heya again everyone. Since getting backed up on commission jobs, I haven't had a chance to work on my own toys for a bit. I took this last week to put the final touches on a project that started late winter.
So without any further delay, I introduce The Herald of our Breakfast menu : Birdie the Early Bird.
See as Birdie smashes past another common adversary in the galactic battle of furious food franchises.
Our first casualty, a sworn brother of the Dred Lobster Marines.
After having mowed down the Dred Lobster Marine, Birdie and McNugget contemplate a snack.
Birdie the Early Bird, Herald of the Breakfast Menu, Lord of the AM, Master of the hot coffee
To give you an idea of the conversion work, here's a shot of Birdie from earlier this year. A few changes had been made over the months, but the basic idea is here.

No doubt exactly where I got the pose as well as idea for the tied-on powerklaw/big choppa. Unfortunately for Forgeworld, they lost my purchase by being crazy-expensive and NOT HUGE ENOUGH.

Also, any plans for a McRib addition?
The McRib Battlewagon is in the pipes right now. Just gotta figure out a way to attach the horns and the deffrolla and that will be seeing the table.
Also, I'm accepting donations from... well, anyone, for single rank and file miniatures from each army in 40k. I have a Furious Food plan for each race, and want to do single miniatures on the ork's bases at this point. Of course should anyone else pick up the joke and start a franchise of their own, well.... how could I ever want to stand in the way of that?
The Good Green wrote:Very Nice! And welcome back... again!
Thanks man. And thanks for hanging in there and keeping up with my thread. My updates are dwindling as I finish up the ork army and move onto my next 40k project, but what I lack in frequency, I have to make up for in consistency.
Where are the Fry Guys, Happy meal gang and the mcnugget buddies?
You should make them too!
While i'm at it, can I have some Frys and a Fanta(and of course a burger!!)

Fry guys are the gretchin, McNuggets are the Squigs. The happy meal gang I might be skipping... unless I get crazy and add them to the bases.... or I find myself with an abundance of killer kans at some point in the future.
Thanks again for the kind words and the suggestions all.

Indeed, your lack of posts is made up for in awesomeness too. The theme and excellent execution of both the conversions and painting contribute heavily.
On the other hand, I make up for my randomness with as many posts as I can muster.
Aww. I'm feelin' loved.
Anyway, there is one more battlewagon in the works for the time being. That will be up as soon as I actually paint it. Also, vast improvements across the army as a whole, so I'm guessing I should do another round of photos soon.
I also have an entire chaos army collected at this point, and I'm wondering if I should just go ahead, or wait for the new codex before really starting in on them.
