Howdy everyone. We here at Dakka are happy to help introduce a new range of miniatures from a company called Raging Heroes. Here's their press release:
"Raging Heroes: flamboyant minis in 28 and 54 mm!
Raging Heroes is a young company that creates baroque and flamboyant minis for wargamers and collectors in 28 mm and 54 mm
Our first Command Group has been designed to fit easily into any Dark Elf, Vampire, Chaotic or Demonic army.
Each mini is issued as a limited edition of 500 units.
You'll find on our website detailed information on the background of each character, and on how to use them within your favourite games.
The images attached are of our 3D sculpts and of the actual casts in 28 mm and 54 mm of Moloss and Minion
The minis:
- Asharah, the Heroine:
With her 9 accessories, you can make her a Vampire, Chaos or Dark Elf Magician or Warrior.
- Eleriel and Alaniel, the Standard Bearers:
Twin sisters, slaves, lost in ecstasy and pain, they glorify their Leader.
- Moloss and Minion, the Musician:
Fallen and cursed lover, he marches to the drums of an evil cherub...
Currently, buy three minis for the price of two! And take advantage of our very low worldwide flat shipping rate (3 Euros, about US $ 4.50), regardless of order size!
We're also developing other product lines… More info coming soon!
To find out what's going on at Raging Heroes, you can check us out on Facebook, visit our blog, sign up for our newsletter, follow us on Twitter.
Our minis are designed and crafted with utmost passion and care. May they bring you luck on the battlefield!

Not since Rackham metal miniatures have I been so impressed. These also make rackham miniatures look pale in comparison.
This is definitely something close to watch. Thanks for the announcement.

Asharah has a really groovy mix of styles, particularly the helmeted 'tizz-y' version. Definitely digging it
Good luck to these guys, some real possibility to be had.

These look incredible. One thing I'd really like to see - much higher resolution images and from different angles. It seems about half the model shots are taken from slight variations on the same angle - for the elf sisters one, I counted 5/11 of almost the exact same front downward angled shot, and not a single of the back or the other sister's face.

Thanks for the feedback!
Just added two more shots of the twins here: a close-up of the other twin, and a back view.

Since you're kind enough to answer questions - the original sculpts were made in ZBrush, Mudbox, Maya?
And how does translation from digital sculpt to prototype looks?

The sculpts are done mainly in ZBrush, and I'm pretty sure the hard surface modeling was done in Max and Maya.
To answer your second question, you can see pictures of the 3D print here. The images labeled "Actual 54 mm Masters" are photos of the 3D print (images 10 to 17).
We did not have the opportunity to take pictures of the 28 mm master, as it was in and out of our office the same day. But we'll soon have new masters to show (for Asharah and Alariel & Eleniel).

I just ordered the twins and the standard bearers. I'm silently hoping the cherub and slave is less popular so I can order them later, if I decide to. I'm thinking of maybe using it as a Slaanesh warshrine, the larger version anyway.
And if there's any left of the hero, I might use her for a Valkia conversion. She'd be perfect!

Ohhhh man now THERE is an idea! Man now I wish I'd gone in on their package deal. Ah well, I may still yet do it. I'm really bummed. I have VC and WoC, and my fiance plays DE! I can use three different versions of her, and she makes a near-perfect Valkia model!

Clay Williams wrote:What model 3D printer did you use?
Unfortunately, I can't really answer that, as our service provider is handling that directly and we're not in on all his secrets...
But I can say that it requires of the most fine-detail printers on the market.
There was a bit of trial and error to get the best results at the beginning, and sometimes, we rework the masters once they're done.
It actually works out to a pretty expensive process (more than traditional sculpting), but it opens up other possibilities and options.

The models look nice. I won't buy them because of the "OMG IT'S LIMITED EDITION BUY THEM ALL NOW GOTTA CATCH THEM ALL HURR!!" marketing ploy.
But they look nice. And the "Incest Sisters" were good for a few laughs with the guys at the local GW.

wasn't talking about the sculpting.
Plus it ultimately doesn't matter as my local GW is the only place to play miniature games for me right now. So, it's just another "nice model" that is not usable and not worth the effort from another company that's trying to use "Pokemon marketing" and probably won't be here this time next year.

On the other hand, I would never play a game in a GW shop, have a good sized group of friends with gaming tables and fully intend to use these beautifully sculpted figures as the basis of a mortal chaos army I intend to build in 2010.
I'd also recommend you get some folks together and venture beyond the GW store, perhaps start your own gaming club, then you can have some say in what miniatures you get to use and are not dictated to by the store.
And also, there are a huge number of collectors and painters out there who never play a single game, for them this highly detailed and attractive minis will be as well received as they are for me as a gamer who exercises his rights as a consumer.

I expect the limited run is due to the life of the mold, and prospective sales volume, rather than a marketing ploy.
The site and posts here did not seem to give the number available any undue attention to warrant your scorn, Howlingmoon.
Many model companies do the limited run thing when they start out.
Probably a result of limited startup capital and infrastructure.

Its a long fall from that high horse.
I am sure you would have said or did say the same thing about ultraforge. They have now been here for how long? Small mini companies are doing quite well right now even in america with our crap economic situation. Maybe it has to do with the fact that large mini companies have middle men who increase price while pressure to produce large product lines make for a lesser product. The opposite is true with smaller mini companies as well as the fact that small buisness is based on pride and not the bottom line ... for the most part.
As for not being able to play other minis at your local GW ... I don't have a local GW and would never play at one that inforced such rules. Even the GTs of old would allow you to play off market mini's with the stipulation that you would never win best army or best painted because they are featured on the GW website and they may not violate other companies IP laws.

I absolutely love these sculpts. I'd love to get the twins and the musician and work them into my demons army. Unfortunatly I'm all tapped out from christmas spending.
I hope to see a re-release of these models if they go really fast. In any event I'll be checking back in on raging again soon.
@Howlingmoon: We don't have a GW store here in St. Louis anymore, but when we did they were pretty laid back about people bringing in armies that included some figs from other companies. I remember everyone gathering around and admiring a nicely painted Vrock one time (including the staff).
If your GW store is really uptight I'd take MeanGreen's advice and get some of the people together that you play with there and get a club going at a different location.

I've been having a terribly difficult time trying to find minis for my DE Sorceress that I truly like. Avatars of War's DE Sorceress looks nice overall, just like many of their amazing minis, but her head drives me nuts. GW Sorcs... well, if you have nothing nice to say... And then here this upstart company comes along and blows pretty much everything else out of the water.
Richly designed, characterful model that comes with her own personal standard bearer and musician. For now I wouldn't really use the musician since it doesn't fit in with DE too well (though fantastic for WoC armies). And with the full command and shipping deal, what's not to like? Now I just need to figure out if I want to add another Asharah mini to have a Dreadlord model of her as well...

Thanks again everyone for your warm welcome. It has spurred us into action even over the Holidays. There is no rest for the wicked ;-) ...
Asharah has been so successful that we have decided to release two mounted versions of her:
- one on a heavy horse
- one on an insane dark Pegasus.
There's also a Vampire/Dark Elf/Demon War Master coming up, and you'll be able to use its 54 mm version as a God or large demon for your 28 mm armies.
Press releases with images coming up in the next few days!

Seriously? Are you just getting a flood of demands from DE/ VC/ WoC players who want better minis for their characters? The only thing more I could ask would be adding a Manticore to that list of mounts, or offering the mounted version of her model without having to purchase the mount itself. I'd personally rather see your version of a Manticore, but would have to modify another company's if you didn't make one.
Raging-Heroes wrote:Press releases with images coming up in the next few days!
Pre-press release questions: Are you planning on the mounted versions being available to ship by January 11th? If so, would you offer a special deal for those that pre-ordered the non-mounted version already? Another if so, can I add the Pegasus version to my current order and get both kits at the same time?

Looking forward to it!
Viable changes to pose of the model as well as weapon/head would allow sale of more than one of each.
If the War Master is in the same 'sensual' aesthetic as the standard bearers and Asharah, I can see opportunities for Daemon prince of Slaanesh and/or Keeper of Secrets alternative model (since the GW one is such an ugly sculpt).

We've just added a "dream mini" interactive form to our website. Basically, we want to hear about all your crazy wishes and dreams for miniatures.
And guess what? Should we create a mini that happens to be along the lines of what you shared with us, and should you have been the first to write us about it, then we'll gift you that mini when it becomes available!
So, Kirbinator... While you haven't completed this form (seeing that it didn't exist), you should know that you've just got yourself a free Lord Vampire/Dark Elf/Chaos Demon mounted on a Manticore!!! OK, we still have to sculpt it and move it into production, but it could happen by late Q1 2010.

No, unfortunately. While the mounted version has been designed and is currently being sculpted, it will still have to go through production before becoming available... But as soon as we're happy with the sculpt, we'll be posting it and pre-orders will become possible.

Raging Heroes,
I've looked at your site a few times over the holidays and your sculpts are fantastic. You seem to be very evil fantasy character orientated at the moment and with your imeadiate future plans, your site syas you have plans for the sci-fi genre though, how soon do you think you'll something to show please?
Cheers
Mark D
P.s Your wonderfully flamboyant and eye catching style makes me think you could do some excellent Ork Flashgitz stand in's, that is if it's not sailing too close to GW's territoral waters of course, I have no idea about anything as far as IP's go.
Edit: I've been wracking my brains trying to think of a way for me (a 40k man) to justify buying that superb sisters model and it just came to me during dinner. An Objective marker... Space Sirens!
So now I'm Sold!

To be fair, it's the same here in the upper half of the States. Flights severely delayed or canceled, people can't get to work, etc. It doesn't make me any less anxious, but hopefully at least the casted minis should be able to be seen by then.

Well, it's January 11th and the Moloss and Minion 54mm model begun shipping on the 9th, but no word about the others. The site still shows that shipping for all products will begin today. I imagine it's there with all good intentions, but you'd have thought there would at least be posted photos of the standard bearer and hero built miniatures on the site if they were to begin shipping them out today.
Who knows, maybe they're so busy packaging and shipping out the pre-orders that they haven't had time to update the site.
Well, one can hope for no delays right?

It's hard to be patient, I'm more excited about these minis than I am the entire new Tyranid release. It's definitely understandable, I imagine getting their virgin release put together and actually started is a huge undertaking with all kinds of infrastructure and little issues that don't present until the last minute.

Just got an email from them. They are behind schedule - an apology, explanation and 20% of next order. Very nice of them. Have to admit I thought they were alsways going to be a bit late, what with it being their first mini and all that. These things happen in life and it won't be the first company to miss a deadline.
Still looking forward to getting their stuff.

I received the same email, as I'm sure many people who ordered did. While we all knew the delay was inevitable, it was still very nice getting a personal email regarding it on top of the discount.
Regardless of the delay, I'm sure we'd all rather see the minis done right rather than rushed.
Speaking of seeing the minis, did you see that preview of the master for the twins? Just amazing in every way; body proportions, ornamental detail, even the flow and folds of the standard are nigh perfect! Definitely going to be a must-have in every army I put on the table.

As most who work in customer relations will tell you, it's not the actual problem that usually leads to issues and ill will, it's lack of communication.

Holy flagpoles Batman! Look at those standard bearer shots! I'll have to settle for just my 28mm version, I can't hope to do the 54mm any kind of painting justice.
And the concept art for the vampire lord is just crazy! I love the demon version, especially using it as a transformed vampire. I play Dark Elves, but for the sake of Daemon/Vampire players I hope the model can match that concept art. Of course, this just makes me more anxious to see the Dark Elf version.

For those of us not paying attention to the official site, there's a gorgeous Spirit of the Woods WIP preview on their blog. This thing is set to be massive! I don't think Wood Elves have anything similar in their rules, but maybe if I played them I'd probably use it as a Treeman Ancient replacement or something. It's a fantastic-looking model that would make an amazing centerpiece for any such army, though!

While we are doing so, I want to put in a vote for some sort of "Greater Angel" or "Avatar of Faith". I really want a bad ass angel chick in ornate plate mail with either sword and shield or glaive who looks like she could go toe to toe with a greater demon and come out on top.
Please please please.

Have you played Darksiders? That game has some armoured angles that look very cool.
I filled in the mini wish form earlier with my own ramblings, well I tried to, I didn't see the 500 character limit at first and had to spend ages editing it. *facepalm*

Good sir, if it looks as good as your current sculpts, you will win all of my internets! I really look forward to seeing what you guys put forth!

In all seriousness, though, these miniatures are without a doubt the most exciting sculpts I've seen for the fantasy realm of wargaming. Keep us updated for when you decide to delve into the scifi realm and I'm sure we'll all have a lot more requests of your team.

Looks pretty good, and definitely NOT a render.
How tall is that " 28 " mm version though? I mean from the bottom of the feet to the top of where the head would be.

If you aren't on the newsletter list and have any interest in these minis (which you should!), you are really missing out.
Edit: Actually, the website was updated, go look there! Raging Heroes News
The Dark Pegasus is insane! I mean, insane! They rightfully put the disclaimer that the Asharah model has just been dropped onto the model with no posing done and the wings aren't 100% either. However, even as a work in progress that thing looks amazing! I can't wait to get that on the table! I have no idea how they plan on fitting it onto a 40mm base with those wings, maybe a nice piece of scenic base?
That spirit of the wood is really coming along nicely! I'd love to come up against a Wood Elf army with that as their treeman ancient replacement. And fifteen other spirit ideas in the works?!
I also can't wait for that Manticore they mentioned! I might be a little biased but upon seeing how phenomenal that dark pegasus preview is I can't imagine how amazing that manticore will be. I do hope for two things regarding Asharah on the Manticore. First, that her pose will be different from whatever they finalize as her other mounts, I'm a sucker for unique minis. Second, that she wields a wicked lance as her primary weapon. Honestly, though, I'd fall in love with pretty much anything they showed up with judging by the rest of their line of minis and concepts.
Edit: Another wish, that the Dark Pegasus wings will be available as a bitz order. I'm sure we all would love those things on many other minis!

Really nice newsletter, professionaly done and was nice to read through before I started work this morning.
I see from it that Ashara and friends are very nearly done for 28mm and may even start shipping enxt week, cool if so and not as much of a delay as I was expecting so kudos to them again for getting back on track so quickly.
They're also doing their first whole unit, the ideas for which sound very ambitious, I look forward to seieng how wel the finished product gets across those ideas.
Minor gripe, still nothing sci-fi even mentioned in the newsetter, their upcoming designs are all very beautiful but I don't play Fantasy. :(

Great time to start!
Seriously, though, I am also anxious about when they step into the sci-fi realm. Imagine what they can do for Tyranids and all those models that haven't been officially made...
Of course, by the time they have gotten all of these amazing fantasy models out of the way, GW might actually come out with the models.
Empchild wrote:Only thing is that is a LOT of wings!!!
I love all the wings, to me it really adds to how the once-revered heavenly mount Pegasus has been twisted and warped by the Chaos magics. The GW one looks like a horse with bat wings (cartoon-face/sculpt aside), making it difficult to fit into a Chaos army. But this one here is so clearly a perversion of nature's origin that I'd be quite happy to see it played in place of a disk for a Tz Sorcerer.
My biggest concern is how huge this model is, 8-10 inches! She is going to dwarf my hydra! To be fair, that's all wingspan making it so tall, but still!

I'm looking forward to the day my ahsarah-model arrives. When the quality satisfies, what I expect, then I will surely order some more. The models have a niche-oot-beauty. I dig that. I hope you will do fine with your work. Imo, the model market slowly boils down to publish distinctive work like your centerpiece over the top works.

Oh the potential for Dark Pegasus has got me excited big time, looking awesome so far.
Also never even considered it was a possibility from you guys based on the first figs, but those Sisters of Eternal Mercy could be a shoe-in for the new Sisters of Sigmar warband I was considering putting together.
Very nice, so far.

Liking the Spirit so far... The skirt/swishybit is perhaps a little chunky, but a lot will come down to painting on that one.

- The Manticore is meant for the Lord Vampire/Demon/Dark Elf and not for Asharah... However, we know that many may want to use such mounts for different characters.
We're trying to come up with a clever system to allow for standard switching between our riders and mounts, but it's really hard to do something that won't affect the quality of the mini. I guess the best may be to simply go the good old hand-made conversions route... In any case, we intend to make riders and mounts available together and separately for maximum flexibility.
- Asharah on her Dark Pegasus is definitely going to have a lance.

Can't remember the name of it, but I read a story years ago about a girl being chased around a forest by the Wild Hunt, led by a stag-headed character who was downright creepy.
I'm thinking essentially a more bestial version of Orion, in a similar vein to Studio McVey's new Pan model... Or perhaps a 'reversed' Orion (so stag's head, but human(-ish) body), to allow him to ride a suitably fey and angry-looking steed.

Ah, I'm more than happy having the Lord on the Manticore, Asharah will be busy flying about on her glorious twisted Pegasus! The Dark Elf head: It's a nice start. Suitably pointy and evil-looking. Obviously sitting on the rest of the body will help it somewhat, but I'm thinking the vanes and the central spike are a tad large for my tastes.

That pegasus is truly mazing. I really like the eyeless headpiece, and the strange multiple wings.
Size may be an issue for those using it as a proxy in WHFB games, but one could always use it as a "Greater Dark Pegasus" (aka Black Dragon).
Looking forward to seeing that DE lord, too...

I'm not sure why I hadn't thought of this, but that's definitely a great idea! I was going to just use it as a straight replacement for the pegasus, albeit a very tall one. It's not like I'd hide a Pegasus under a roof anyway. Though I am curious what base size they intend to put that thing on, I'm hoping the direct 40mm.

While Raging Heroes keeps us very busy, we also have the honour of being in charge of the Film and Video games (Media & Entertainment) conferences at Imagina (in Monaco). This year, we've invited Animation Project Manager Xavier Rang from Ubisoft and Nolan Murtha, Digital Effects Supervisor at Lightstorm Entertainment.
While this is not directly linked to miniatures, we figured many of you probably are Avatar fans and thought it would be nice to give you the opportunity to ask them some questions.
We can't guarantee that we'll get answers to everything, but we'll do our very best. Thank you for posting your questions in the comments of our blog before February 4.

No images yet, but we should be getting on to our SF models in the next few weeks... Stay tuned!
And for some more news: here is the first alternate head of our Vampire Lord. Is it a vampire in full transformation? A greater demon? The choice is yours…
As with our other minis, the Lord Vampire will also be available in 54mm. We've designed it so that the 54mm version can be used as a greater demon or as a god avatar for your 28mm army. It will surely tower over the battlefield with its 30cm (12inch) height from foot to wing tip!
This is a digital render of our 3D sculpts. The Vampire is shown here without its cape and wings.
The mini will be available for pre-order in the next few days. More images here.

Everyone here at Dakka Dakka has been so very supportive of our new venture that we wanted you to be among the firsts to know that we're running really low on Asharah in 28mm and we wouldn't want to leave any of you disappointed. With our 28mm minis all available for shipping, we've had a rush of orders that have substantially depleted our stocks. There are now only 5 Heroine Asharah minis in 28mm left!!!
We also have less than 90 Command Groups in 28mm (which include Asharah) left. At that rate, we expect them to sell out fairly quickly. We would have like to notify everyone you earlier about our stock information, but we've been taken a bit by surprise with how quickly the numbers changed.
And, at last, here's one of our photos of the cast 28mm Asharah in white metal:

Please accept our apologies for the long delay...
We've added a Shipping Update page to our website to keep our customers posted as to the status of the shipment of orders.
All Asharah 28mm single orders were shipped last week.
Moloss&Minion single orders in both 28 and 54 will be out this week.
Dispatches of orders containing an Eleriel&Alaniel 28mm mini are beginning to ship, but there's a twist, because while the mini is mainly cast in white metal, the flag will be in resin, which requires longer casting times, so there are only 20-25 orders going out each day. Orders are going out in in the order in which they were received. Customers will be receiving shipping confirmation the day it ships.
We have committed ourselves from the very beginning of Raging Heroes to treat our customers with respect, to be totally transparent about what's going on with our project and to encourage feedback so that we integrate suggestions in our products in-development. So this long delay is a big set-back for us as we want to make sure that you have a good experience doing business with us. As you know, we are a new company and this set is our first production. Many unimaginable issues have turned out during this first run and, it's true, we're still learning. But things are getting better and our new models are already coming out much more smoothly. We really want our customers to be happy, so if anything else arises, please don't hesitate to send us an email.

Hi guys, I did this review of the new 28mm Ashara.
First things first.
After seeing their crisp clean concepts on the Raging Heroes website http://www.ragingheroes.com/ I had very high hopes for this line. I looked at this line as a nice collectors series, also being playable in your fav game.
After a few mishaps with shipping, attributed to the really bad weather, my package finally arrived.
I must say there was a little disappointment, as I was expecting a box, not blister, don’t know why, I got that impression as RH do not mention this at all. Anyway I was greeted with a nice shiny blister pack with some very nice artwork.
On opening the blister I was rather pleased to see Asharah was a limited edition of just 500, I got number 190. There was also a small paragraph about her, in both French and English. The printwork is of top quality, I must add.
The mini.
Ok gonna be picky here, but I think I would have much rather seen this mini in resin. I understand why it is metal, as it is meant to be playable, but as firstly a painter, resin would have been nice, maybe a smaller limited run in resin would have been better, say the first 100 were resin there after white metal.
First impressions of the mini are good, there is a nice amount of detail, albeit not as crisp as the pictures on the website lead you to believe, but by no means bad, and I must stress this.
There is very little to no flash, and the mould lines are quite small, and should file down very easily. The one thing to note, is that the tab needs to be cut off, as the leading leg will not sit right if you leave it on. Also the small knife on the front leg seems to have a gap, but a small amount of greenstuff will sort this out. The only drawback, is I would say this knock this mini into the moderate modeller bracket.
The filigree on the arms is very nice, again not as crisp as the images, as the edges of the filigree are slightly rounded. This also leads me onto the fit of the arms, no matter how I tried I couldn’t get the arms to fit properly in the correct position without there being quite a big gap, this seemed to be down to the small pin cast on the mini. For me this isn’t a problem, as I remove these anyway and add my own longer pin, again this will make it for the moderate modeller.
You get 3 different types of heads in the set, that should be enough for anyone, my personal favourite was the one with the flowing hair. These are all well detailed, with good expressions, and actually look female!
To say you get a good choice of weapons is an understatement! This in my opinion is what makes this mini special, the sheer amount of customisation you can do. You will not be left wanting at all, and to add the detailing on them if very good. For instance the shield, has the crisp filigree that was missing from the arms, both the swords are great, and the staff, my choice, is excellent. The book is a very nice touch, and I liked the fact that it has a small flame coming from it, giving the impression that a spell is about to happen. The weakest option here is the whip. I can see what was trying to be achieved, but with the attempt at such detail, it starts to get lost and looks flat, and a little but of a mess, but then with so many better options, I don’t think many Asharahs will be sporting a whip.
Over all.
Apart from the slight misgivings, with a few detail issues, this is a very good first mini from RH. As I said a resin limited run would be nice, in 28mm, but not essential. As a first mini, things can and probably will only get better, so future sculpt should be amazing, as the company get to grips with what can be achieved.
Anyway, Ashara would be nice addition to a multitude of armies, or just as a collectable painting piece, with enough areas to let a painters imagination get to work.
This is definitely a recommended purchase.

I know you quantified your comment several times, and I mean what I say in the nicest way, but I think expecting a resin miniature was a bit much with the price they were trying to offer. Not that I wouldn't have wanted one myself - maybe they can offer it as an option. I look forward to seeing how they paint up. Maybe we could start a Raging Hereos Painted thread in modelling?

Some good news and bad news from the Raging Heroes team it seems.
First the bad news: More shipping delays caused by the twins.
Apparently these girls just don't want to be on our tables yet. Judging by the quality of the other two released and shipped minis and how much more complicated the twins are, I feel it's worth the wait. It doesn't make waiting any more fun, though.
Now the good news: Dark Elven Lord WiP!
Holy cow that thing is insane! The helmet looks much more fitting on the body than it did as a disembodied floating bit in the preview. I like that they have reduced the shoulder pads to make the Dark Elf version much less bulky-looking. I have to admit, with the thought of the thorned wings that RH mentioned back here, I am sorely tempted to use the 54mm as a direct replacement for a Dreadlord on Dragon model, terrorizing the battlefield as an incarnation of Khaine! Demon breath weapon, a ton of high strength attacks from the giant sword (Caledor's Bane S7 anyone?) and then slightly lesser strength swipes from his clawed hand and stompings (representing the dragon's attacks)! Rawr!

We shall see. I am looking forward to when I can finally get the original 3 models I ordered and weigh up how successfully the beautiful original renders transferred to 28mm.
It is the first go at this for a new company, I appreciate that teething troubles are to be expected. I hope the issues will provide a steep learning curve for RH to learn from for future productions.

Shipping update, casting info, new minis.
It looks like our December 28mm pre-orders will be on their way very soon and everyone else shortly behind! Woooo! The 54mm will have to be patient some more, but it seems our months of waiting might be coming to an end. Of course, being across the ocean means we States-siders have to wait even longer...
SciFi Asharah command group sounds like it would be pretty awesome, especially if it matches the attitude and feel of the first run. Can't wait to see the previews.

Good.
I will expect reassurance that lessons on casting and testing have been learnt before I order from them again. This experience should provide RH with a good opportunity to smooth the process and reduce turnover next time.
These minis arrived on the board to much excitement, 3 months later, with many of us still without the preordered minatures, the impetus has mellowed considerably. They will need to reignite that with reassurance about improvements to their testing/casting/release process.

Definitely agreed there and it seems they're well aware. I think once everyone gets their hands on the minis and a few more come out on schedule the excitement will be back. I'm certainly looking forward to not only the initial set but also those Spirits in the works and that Dark Elf Lord and his Manticore.
Mmm... Manticore.

I've had the twins and Asharah fig arrive a couple of days ago.
First look was okay, I did find there where a couple of casting issues, one of my heads seems to have a flat nose, and the hand of one of the weapon had flattened fingers.
I'll be honest and say I am not sure the crisp looking detail shown on the scuplt has quite made it through to the final cast and aye that was kinda disappointing.
Although to be fair its no worse than a Harlequin or Reaper mini, but not as nice as my previous Avatar of War purchases for example.
The only issue is one head due to flat nose is going to need work to use, and the other head, doesn't quite work for what I wanted, the Horned one was obviously useless for my Druchii.
The twins also had a few little detail niggles, the worst being the look of the arm attached to the resin banner. It wasn't as good as the metal arm it needs to attach to.
It has also scuppered my plans as I wasn't intending to use the banner, so I will need to sculpt a forearm and hand. Although obviously thats my issue, not theres and I'd not hold that against them, just for some reason wasn't expecting one of the twins to be holding the banner.
I'd give the figs 7/10 for Asharah, and 8/10 for the twins.
Will try and grab 10mins tomorrow (if not mon, 100% for Tues on my day off) and get some pics to share.

Was it the vampire head? I wondered at that from the unpleasant looking picture on this page.

From what you're saying, it does seem that the Dark Elf Head you've received was a miscast. Simply contact us privately via email so we can arrange to have a correct head shipped to you. Also, I'm a bit surprised about your saying regarding the "flat hand". Could be the same issue here.
It sounds like you might have been unlucky and got a spin that did not set correctly. Our foundry guy is very picky about the quality of his casts and every incorrect part is thrown back into the pot and recast. But some may occasionally escape his notice. If that's the case, we'll gladly fix the problem.
Regarding the arm on the banner of Eleriel and Alaniel, I'm a bit surprised about what you're saying, but I must say that when I looked at it initially, I got the same kind of impression. Looking back on it later on, I realized that it was mainly an optical effect due to the difference of tone between the resin and the pewter.
As we know that many of you may want to convert your minis, the initial plan was to make the banner as separate as possible from the girl to allow for easier conversions. But if you followed the latest developments on our blog concerning that darned banner, you will know that we had several challenges fitting the parts together in a way that that would make it castable…
Finally, about the vampire head: the picture from Atacam does not do it justice, but that's not his fault. For some obscure reason, although the head looks fine in real life, we also were not able to get a good photo of it either. Notice that Atacam does not seem to have had an issue with it in his review. Maybe the old tales are true: in the end, you just can't shoot a Vampire…

Hey MeanGreenStompa, it looks like your idea for a Bloodthirster for that Bat-Vampire Lord is about what they had in mind, check out this axe! From what they are saying, it looks like a whip in hand is the plan for an offhand weapon. I might have to put a spike on the bottom tip of the axe just to make it a little more pointy for my Dark Elves. I rather like the proposition of a second, more lithe figure for the Elven Lord/Slender Demon. I really hope that's how they move forward, but I'd be happy either way. My Dreadlord can have a WYSIWYG Executioner's Axe! Well, maybe. It's not quite a Great Weapon, but I think a little conversion for handle-extension could make it into a two-handed axe just fine. Proportionally, the axe head certainly looks big enough for it.

Had a second look on the hand, my bad, not squashed, just really small, I'm used to GW sized hands/fingers. I think this are sorta correct scale, but for some reason look stubby to me. I am also a little worried about the flak lines on the weapons, seems there will be a very fine line of removing flak and removing detail.
Got some pics to share though.
Heres the face I'm on about, tbh I'm not one hundred percent t is squashed, but as intended. I'll be honest, if thats the case, its not a great sculpt, the mask on the right side of her face looks very rough, and her tiny nose isn't helping the look.
This is the Dark Elf head, but theres something about it thats off to me.. regardless, its the one I'll probably be using.. I might give her a veil to hide the open mouth.
Here's some pics of the Twins for folks as well. As I said I do feel they have lost some of their detail in the translation, but they are still nice figs. Although having a proper second look tonight under the magnifying glass, I'm not sure I would have brought them had I seen pics of them close up first. Sorry to Raging Heroes an all, and I do intend to keep them, but not quite the quality I was expecting tbh.
Regardless of my opinions, I do hope others like them, and if anyone wants any particular shots I am happy to take pics asap.

That's the head I intended using. It's a far cry from what the pictures promised. Yours, coupled with the previous photo from another poster are leaving me with a sinking feeling (regrettably I have still not received my figures so can't actually tell for myself yet).

When I saw your picture, I thought I should try again to photograph the Vampire head.
And so here is a photo of a correct cast of the Vampire head:
From the look of your picture, it looks like you got a miscast on this one. Do write us so we can send you a new one.
At the same time, it is true that the Vampire head is one of our disappointments with the Asharah 28mm mini. As it turned out, the 3D sculpt of our mask was too delicate and thus, did not come out very strongly on the 3D print. Although it was still readable, we thought that a dab of green stuff on the master would help define its features. However, the manual sculpting was not what we expected, but it was too late to go back and repeat the entire process an additional time. So the 3D printing is not at fault here, more appropriate 3D modeling would have avoided this issue entirely, something we've incorporated in our upcoming minis.

I think our issue is that they're in France, we aren't. It seems the people who have gotten their minis are on that side of the world and in the first run of orders. That doesn't quite explain MGS not having his, but we also don't know where in the line his order is. I'll definitely let you know when mine arrives, though.

Ah.. yeah, it looks like I do indeed have a miscast. I'll drop you fellas a line asap as that is the head I would have liked to use if I'm honest.
On a side note, I would like to state even among my slight negativity. I am still very interested in you as a company, and I have no doubt that this is alll part of the learning experience.
They are, after all your first releases, and I am looking forward to seeing some of the other figures you are working on.
Especially the Sisters style ones.

Four to six weeks? I sure hope not; I ordered some things from UK eBay recently, took about two weeks to get here with standard service. I guess we'll see. I'm glad to see everyone else getting theirs, though, we've all been waiting quite a while.
In other news, I really like how this giant lord is coming out. The liquid flames in the cape will look fantastic with a highly-contrasting paint job. I would love to see a slender version made, especially since it would make the (what I'm hoping to be) vicious Manticore he'll be riding even more menacing!

All orders are being shipped via Royal AirMail, so 10 days is probably closer to the mark...
Also, wanted to share with you that there are now only 65 28mm Command Groups left, and also that our special promo "buy two, get three minis" ends March 31st, as we're finally beginning to catch up on our deliveries (we haven't yet won that war, but every day victory draws nearery...) and three new minis are forthcoming in the next few days. This Special Deal is particularly sweet for the 54mm Command Group, where you can save 26.90 Euros / US$36.
And finally, here's how Asharah (28mm) looks like some paint on her:

Finally got my command squad. I'm going to echo some of the others here. The detail appears washed out to me. In my opinion not worth the premium price.
I would switch over to traditional sculpting or some kind of hybrid between greenstuff sculpting and digital sculpting to let your ideas translate to miniatures better.

Got my twins late last week, amusingly the box was labelled as coming from Yorkshire. Didn't have time to look at them properly till last night but now I have I'm quite impressed with how the model goe stogether, no wonder they had so much trouble with it.
The detail is as everyone else has said, not as impressive as the 3d sculpts made it look, a pity but it is their first product.

For those of you interested, Raging Heroes has a new mini up for pre-order: Sil-Iriah, Spirit of the Woods! Yes, we know that the command set that came out recently in 28mm wasn't flawless and RH admitted as much themselves. We don't need a ton of posts saying "I don't care until I see metals/reviews/etc." I'm sure plenty of Dakkites and members of other, less awesome forums feel that way and you can be sure there will be plenty of reviews out there once the mini hits homes. It looks like RH is giving themselves a generous release date of late June. That being said, for those of you who know you will be wanting this one then you should pre-order soon, RH is offering discounts for the first 100! For those of us with various discount codes, it isn't really listed whether or not you can combine them with this offer. So, on to the mini! Raging-Heroes wrote: Syl-Iriah comes in two sizes. Heroic, an impressive character standing 10cm high, she can be easily included in any unit with the 20×20mm base. Legendary, a massive supernatural creature, towering above the battlefield with her 16cm height, she’s based on a 50×50mm square base. A third, Epic / 54mm scale version, will be available soon, and will stand 25cm tall. Seriously, these things will be huge! Wood Spirit Comparison Chart It looks like they really listened when everyone wanted a version of her to fit on the infantry base as well as a monstrous creature size. Need an infantry general that still towers above the others? Need a treeman replacement? They've got you covered either way! Heroic (20mm base): Legendary (50mm base):

Indeed, one of the reasons we haven't had any new releases until now was not only because we were handling the backlog of orders, but also because we've been hard at work completely upgrading our production pipeline.
We tackled the problem from three different angles.
- First, we made made new tests with several 3D printing companies to locate one that could deliver significant improvements in the 3D printing process.
- Second, we reviewed our previous sculpts to see how each sculpting decision has an impact on the final 3D print. We then used this info to fine-tune our sculpting approach and methods for the new sculpts (this includes the Spirit of the Woods and the upcoming Vampire / Dark Elf Lord).
- We are currently looking for more experienced traditional green stuff sculptor to touch up any details we're not happy with in the final 3D print.
So you will see significant improvements in the quality of our new and upcoming releases.
