Just checking my emails and saw this from GW: Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Hobby-filled New Year
As 2009 draws to a close, it's worth remembering what a hobby-packed year it has been. It was a year that brought us: new Orks and the incredible Stompa; reinforcements for The Empire and a plastic Steam Tank; War of The Ring and a whole new way to game in Middle-earth; the Planetstrike expansion and a host of towering scenery sets, new Imperial Guard and the hugely popular Valkyrie; Codex: Space Wolves and brand-new Space Wolves miniatures; a new range of Skaven; and of course Space Hulk.
And if you thought that 2009 was a year beyond compare, then you just wait till next year! Here's a sneak peek at some of the stunning sets you can expect to see in 2010:
And it links to here: http://gwutil.com/2010_en.htm?utm_source=nepreview2010&utm_medium=email&utm_term=preview&utm_content=textlinkbody&utm_campaign=NE-Preview-2010
Looking at the size of what I assume is a burna on the right side of the pic, it looks about dread size. That and there is what appears to be a CCW on the other side of it.
And Merry Christmas.
Edit for fail link.

I have no idea what that is, so no in my case.
Liking the Minotaur, well, what we can see of it. And the Deff Dredd is clearly WIN.

I suddenly have this image of the Fellbeast panting and wagging its tail in joy because it got to stick its head out of the car window on the way to the photo shoot.

Awesome, will be picking up that Deff Dread for sure, will go nicely with the one Mrs MDS is constructing me for Christmas.
Oh and aye, whats the Witch King thinking, Fellbeast crossed with Labrador is just not going get the extra dps he was looking for.

Because when Chaossss innnnn Spaaaacccceeeee is redone, they'll get a total overhaul.
GW is tidying up the Ork range and they've been crying out for new dreds and kans.
I think this model is looking absolutely bloody lovely from just that one pic. I hope it sits well alongside the FW megadred.

Holy cow!! I'm digging the preview for the new Deff Dred. Very, very cool. Now, if we get Killa Kanz to match, I definitely feel my Orks getting another reboot. Right now, I'm thinking if running 3-4 Deff Dreads is even worth it in the army.
GW: We need Killa Kanz to match!

Perhaps it's the other way around, who can tell? Certainly I reckon a plastic kit has a longer work up time than a resin one, especially with the mould stuff.

The Deff Dread doesn't do it for me.
Actually I think it sucks big time.
The "my entire body is a face"-idea is lame IMO.
On the metal dread the effect was subtle. On this POS it is just lame.

This just in!
Tolkien's original notes have been found, and that's where the Fellbeast is designed from. It was NOT, as has been suspected a Fellbeast.
It was a D'awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwbeast.
For the last sound you will ever make when seeing that vicious monster coming towards you....

May God have mercy upon us all.

I 100% agree with the "trash can" look.
But on the side... From the picture you can see the teef and grim face are just bits over the torso, so the trash can look can still be under it?
Those shoulderpads look ridiculous though. Better picture required.

The interesting thing is that in a mano-a-mano fight the Venerable Space Marine Dreadnought would likely kick the Mega Dred's metal can.
Edit: I'd like to add though that if the new plastic Deff Dred and Killer Kans have the same face-plate and should-armour aesthetic going for them, then truly Gork (or possibly Mork) will have blessed us.

And I was just starting a scratch building project for making 9 killa kans with a friend. He didn't like the idea of dropping $40 on each model, but maybe the plastic kits will help.
LOL, or they will just charge the same for the plastic kit anyways. $40 for a 35 point model hurts (more with the wargear, but thats almost a buck a point).

lol fair enough! i dunno, its def a break from the walking garbage can (sometimes even with an oscar the grouch stand-in) to put a stompa/meganob/black ork full helmet look... im sure it will be cool, but on the other hand, homoginising the mech's to all look kinda similar doesnt thrill me... i like orks best when all they have in common is the fact its bolted together junk y'know? besides, def, think some mega armored nobz are a bit overdue too?

I think ergotoxin is right. The large faceplate will likely be an addition you can choose to use. It certainly still looks like a classic trash-can design underneath the faceplate, if it was removed.
Also, looks like the legs are going to be a bit different from what we're used to as well. That limb on the bottom of the head/body strikes out an an angle, which makes me think there's a knee attached. Not like our current piston leg design.
I'm wondering if perhaps that killa kanz can be made out of this kit, depending on how the body goes together...

I think its safe to say im really slowed at putting models together ( took me 12 hours to build the stompa ) , especially metal ones dont even mention it.
But contrary to what people expect ( with the uneven cast and such ) killa kan is very easy to build ( thats how i can stand making 8 of them )
Because gravity keeps it together till the glue dries o_o

Meh, I've made metal models look fugly, but that's mostly due to my impatience. If I had held it for 5 more seconds...
And was England not using the metric system before? I thought only us stubborn Americans stayed away.

Friend of mine still has 3 Ork Dreads NIB's that he got during the first Apoc release. He also has another three Ork Dreads already built, and having watching re-construct two of them just recently after they self-destructed, I know he's very happy with the prospect of a plastic Dread.
He also wants to try and get some more plastic arms to combine with the metal bodies of the existing dreads, as they'll be slightly less breakable tham the metal ones.

Maybe it'll be like it was back in Rogue Trader, when a Kan was really just a Dreadnought without the extra set of limbs. So the plastic kit could allow you to assemble a Killer Kan or a Deff Dred.

Simply because a KK is noticeably smaller then a dred. Yeah, KK's are smaller than Dreads.
In competitive play you might not take Dreads as KK's simply because a Dread provides a larger shield for the units behind.
