I think i'm pretty set for my age

I wonder how many of our wives make more than us? Have the breadwinners become the women?

College student on the Federal Work-Study program. It's part of my financial aid package and therefore has a set upper limit. I get paid by the hour like every other schmuck working on/around campus, but I can never earn more than a grand a semester. If I use up my allotment in February by working a ton of hours, then I don't work until the following fall. :( Hopefully I'll land somewhere a bit higher than $2k once I'm done with school, as my earnings will be going to rent, not 40K (which is good, since paint is a lot cheaper than a new squad - I may have two fully painted, if relatively small, armies after a few months ).

You honestly don't think that of all the readers on dakka, 10 might make over a million?
There's a guy in our group....well, somewhat outside of our group, that we swear must be a hitman. He's always buying stuff. Not just 40k, but other game systems and also new computers, tvs, other technology all the time. We figure it must be near 500k a year, yet all he does is play WoW all the time, unless he deigns it worth appearing on gaming nights.
Guy like that has plenty of time to peruse forums.
Me, I just got promoted to assistant manager at my restaurant, so I'm pulling about 32k a year now. Fiance makes around 24, so we're decently set for our ages. Now if only she could get her debt under control....

I knew one multi-millionaire who collected GW models. On several occasions I watched him purchase crates, (yes, entire creates, that's like 50+ boxes IIRC) of IG tanks, SM tanks, and troops. It was completely insane. He'd then commission them to be build and painted. I never saw it, but I was told he had a hall full of display cases with the models in them, much like the pictures of Warhammer World.

Being a student in Sweden I receive 3000 SEK a month, which translates to just around $5000 a year. I'm currently looking for a job though, and if I manage to net myself one it'll most likely jump up to about $17000 a year. My girlfriend is also a student and she is on student loans now which nets her ~$15000 a year, so combined we are around $20K now but if I manage to get a job we'll skip up to $30-35K annually.

Yearly income and disposable income are very different. An single 18 year old E2 in the Navy gets $1645 a month + Free room & board. Disposable income=$1645 a month-taxes. A guy like myself with a wife, X wife, student loans, and kids ranging from 14 months to 16 years can make over 3 times as much as a seaman apprentice in the Navy and not have a 3rd of the disposable income as a seaman apprentice.

I don't quite break the mil, poor exchange rate currently. Though of the nay-sayers I'd point out that that London City lawyers, in corporate law, can be charging between £500-£1000 an hour, non-partners £300-£400.
What's more, you can charge fees concurrently, and certain actions have flat rates attached to them. If I do something that is a 2 hour job in 45 minutes, I still get 2 hours of pay. Spending 5 minutes with someone will still count as a full pay section, so a few hours could be far more than that number of hours x hourly rates.
Even someone with only a year or two experience in corporate law in the City would have to only work the equivilent of 24 hours a week to earn over $1m.

My wife absolutely cains me for earnings. Not only does she wear the trousers, she also last year vetoed me on the car. This is annoying because for the 1st 10 years I brought home the bacon so I got to decide which car "We" were buying. It's like being emasculated...On the plus side, I could become a house husband and look after the kids, do the house work and devote an hour a day to mini's. Average earnings in the UK are £13000 so 1.6 = $20,800 dollars. Not to be big headed here, but this hobby isn't really for people with low IQ's, so I would expect a higher number of higher IQ's and therefore a slant towards Professionals, University and College Grad and the White collar middleclass. The Fairly even spread in percentage terms is quite surprising, no (well very slight) Gaussian/Bell shaped curve distribution, maybe the earnings brackets are too narrow and the graduations are not uniform across the brackets need a better scalar.
