Ok guys so I have a small guard army(about 800pts so far) and am needing to get some motivation in building it up... this (as you know) is where you all come in!!
So I will add some pics in a minute, just to let you know there will be some plain kit-bashing but not much other converting (i.e. sculpting) cos I ain't very good at that tbh.
For now

Firstly here is the CCS, The heavy flamer is gonna be swapped out for a sniper rifle in due course.
Second, is the Infantry squad from the platoon.
The sarge of that squad
A guardsman w/ a grenade launcher (and a bloody nose )
And my fav guardsman from that squad. I love the stance that he has...
Next is the second Infantry Squad, close ups of some of them will follow.
The only Leman Russ for now. I will only give heavy stubbers to tanks without sponsons, along w/ the fluff from "Gunheads". But more on that later.
And finally my first Sentinel
I have also:
A PCS (unpainted)
A Veteran squad (half painted)
A second sentinel (unpainted)
Feedback is much appreciated

I just like the look of them, plus they are not on the board at the start of the game, they outflank and come on to flame/gun a unit to ash/pieces

Post by: Grimm
I really like how you've painted them. The single red shoulder pad is really striking.
Oh and Vulkan_He'stan, what's wrong with Scout Sentinels. You be suprised about how much damage 3 Lascannon-totting, Outflanking Walkers can do to enemy tanks or flamer armed ones to infantry.

Very nice russ, how did you paint it? Dry brushing? Good work, keep it up.
18424
Post by: Imperial Monkey
Yeh, I really don't go for the painstaking highlights on infantry, they look too bright and garish often (and I'm pants at it) but the dry brush always looks good imho.
thanks for the comments guys...keep it coming
Imp. Monkey Automatically Appended Next Post: also, the Russ' mud was the tamiya weathering powders...they is amazing, on men as well as tanks.
And the colour of stripe on each squads fatigues denotes the platoon, squad, etc. For example the Command squad has gold while the platoon has blue...

That is VERY nice guard army. I just have one suggestion, a black wash on the black armor will give a GREAT look. I picked this up at my Local GW when they where painting LoTD.

@Mewiththeface- Ok i'll try the wash, It may add some more definition...That will happen to the PCS (eventually) as the guinea pigs
@ poipo32- Hmmmm... I don't talk to traitors normally The commisairs are very strict!! Lol But i will keep going.
Can I have some ideas on a name for them, they could be a cadian army, I see them being stationed somewhere on the eastern fringes... on a pretty heavily populated planet.
Ideas wanted

Nice job with this conversion mate. He looks like he´s waving the others forward after having spotted something.
I can see the scene now....
"Krane knew they had to be there. The enemy had Armour coming through this stretch of wilderness, and by the Emperor he would find them.
A movement far off to the right caught his attention.
A dust cloud, rising from the southeast.
As he waved the rest of his unit forwards, he started smiling. The Emperor would surely be with them today, as they rode to glory or death.Either way, they would stop the enemy here, while he was exposed..."

Post by: Imperial Monkey
I like it, but in my mind it would be more like this...
Leaning on the roll bars Sgt. Moody looked out at the plain beyond. Four days they had been waiting in this burnt out shell of what must have once been a quaint little village alone in the wilds of Tarnbeck. Now however there was movement on the plains. The enemy was passing their position 20 degrees north, 147 degrees south. Exactly where Major General Phrogan had said they would be. The trap was ready, the recon company was set to commence in the first stage of the operation.
Putting binoculars to his eyes Moody could see the clouds of dust billowing out from the many vehicles exhausts and treads. Now was the time.
"Recon company forward, The liberation of Tarnbeck has begun, and we shall be those lucky enough to spill first blood!" He called, a moment of static sounding in his ear as his Vox-booster branched the signal to the other pilots. Seconds later cries of "For the Emperor!" and "Devil's Shoulder!*" came back across the network.
Lurching, Moody's walker stepped over the fallen roof and out onto the plain. "For the Emperor." he muttered under his breath, gunning the engine and urging his machine toward the fast moving dust cloud...
*The Red Shields have called themselves the devil's shoulder since a campaign in the Galactic NW, where natives thought them devils due to teir red shoulders.

The one thing about the sentinel would be that if the guy is out and signaling or something, I would imagine that the sentinel would stop and stand at a perfect stand.

I dig the army. Very characterful and decently painted(it looks like you need to thin your paints down a bit and do multiple coats of red[some of the primer coat is showing through. It just means that the red isn't covering well, which is a common issue with red paint period]).
My only real issue is with the "Command Sentinel".
Why the heck is the driver standing up like that? Sentinels have some of the most advanced comms systems in the Guard, period. Not to mention multiple redundancies built in to ensure that those comms actually keep working.
If he's supposed to be 'directing' the other Sentinels...he'd be doing it on foot, not standing up making himself a nicely elevated target for anyone within a few hundred feet.
18424
Post by: Imperial Monkey
@Shadowbrand- The colour of stripe on their fatigues denotes the platoon or squad.
@Mewiththeface- I see what you mean, I'll do that with another sentinel. This is doing this just to keep him level in a crowded area (ruined town would mean very few open spaces...)
Kanluwen wrote:Why the heck is the driver standing up like that? Sentinels have some of the most advanced comms systems in the Guard, period. Not to mention multiple redundancies built in to ensure that those comms actually keep working.

@Kanluwen- The driver is standing so as to get a good view of the enemy he is ambushing (as the wee story tells) The comms booster is just to look cool, and on planets with high electronic-y force stuff (read gunheads) they would need them as normal comms don't work properly. He is not a target as he is ambushing an enemy column or convoy from a ruin of some kind (also in the fluff story) But thanks for the thoughts. Keep it coming!

Nice red guardsmen. I would very much prefer more color on the regimental flag though. And more detail on the faces,i know thats the more challenging part of painting a mini, but heck if it's worth doing, let's do it alittle more better than the next guy right?
Good painting on the CCS commander, liked him.

I mean, not trying to be a douchemonkey or anything. It just doesn't seem like a good idea, even if you're leading an ambush.
Well, ESPECIALLY if leading an ambush. Standing up with binoculars and shoulder braiding just screams that something can reveal you to the enemy.
Personally? I'd have made some Forward Observers like the Narmenians used in "Necropolis"(book 3 of the Gaunt's Ghosts series. Last one in "The Founding" omnibus. Details the Siege of Vervunhive).
By that I mean: they set up a running line of observers on foot, who then signalled back to the Sentinels...who then signalled the main force for the massive, massive synchronized assault. The observers and Sentinels then worked in concert feeding data to the tank brigade.

My plans for this army is to have the rest of the force mechanised. That way the platoon will be holding my objective while mech veteran squads whizz around being annoying and capturing other objectives.
My question to you all is, Should I get the Shotgun upgrade pack from FW for the next veteran squad??
Please comment guys, I need feedback.
12271
Post by: JB
I like shotguns for mechanized veterans since you'll likely never shoot 24" anyway. Right now I only have enough shotguns for the squad leaders but I'm working on a few more so I can upgrade at least one of my two mech vet squads.
You don't have to use FW. I did, but I see some other folks using SM scouts. FW may actually be more price effective. Do you live in the US or in England? Your location says Edinburgh but your flag is American.
21391
Post by: w0chtulka
I would use shotguns with melta and grenade launcher squads. With plasmas i would stick with lasguns as plasma squads in chimeras remain stationary sometimes.
For the models: use SM scout shotguns OR really easy way to convert a shotgun from lasgun is to cut the magazine, cut end of the barrel to be as long as the bottom one and then cut the lenses (the aiming thing on the top of the gun or whatever is that called). Attached bayonets are cut off too. I have all my vets with shotguns like this and they look really good being slightly different from a lasgun while remaining nice looking.

They look good! I quite like the bases, they're quite plain but with the style being a bit minimal 9not intended as a critism!) I think the bases quite suit them. As for your request for critisms I think the edging on the uniforms could be improved just by a thin black line to separate them from the rest of the jacets. Simple way is to paint them black then go over with the colour (blue etc) leaving a small amount showin. Would make it stand out much more. Love some of those facial expressions you've got in there! Keep up the work. I'd like to see more of them

Post by: Oshova
In my view, you should use shotguns whenever available. Not for any tactical advantage, but because you look more badass. I have a 10 man scout squad all with shotguns, and the Sgt has a power fist . . . looks awesome when they walk onto the board kill no-one from shooting and then the Sgt wins the day lol.

@JB- I am in The proper Edinburgh, If you know how to change the flag or get it changed help me... I do like the FW ones tho, they look quite kl.
@w0chtulka- I may try that, I plan to hav a couple of squads armed like this, so I will make them different...I do like the FW ones tho...
@Covenant- Thanks, I take that kindly, I was going for a simple striking minimalist scheme anyway... I may try that line idea, Using pure black ink and running into the dip on the fatigues may work also...I shall see
@Oshova- Shotguns indeed look badass...But they are actually very good, Five SM scouts with shotguns (sarge had CCW and bolt pistol) Outflanked my mates demon army and put 2 wounds on a lord of change Who then flew away and wreked havoc elsewhere... These scouts then continued to fend off a weakened bloodletter unit! Don't doubt scouts w/ shotguns!!!!!!
12271
Post by: JB
Yeah, but don't forget that SM shotguns are S4 but the IG version are S3.
The beauty of IG shotguns for vets mounted in Valks/Vendettas/Chimeras is that you get to dismount, fire twice, and assault if you're so inclined. With lasguns you still get two shots but you can't assault.
The counter-argument is that you won't have many targets for an assault since the whole universe is more choppy and gribbly than IG. It's too bad you can't buy a commissar for a vet squad.
18424
Post by: Imperial Monkey
hmmm...They would still look cool, and if you arm the sarge with a PFand give the squad a heavy flamer then they can stand a chance...
12271
Post by: JB
Turn that heavy flamer into a regular flamer and I agree with you. The heavy version almost never gets to fire since the squad is usually moving. I do put heavy flamers as the hull weapon on my Chimeras.
My two mech vet squads stick to melta guns as their special weapon. Flamers are better for assaulting but I need the vehicle killing potential of the melta guns in my list.

Well, Shazam...I never noticed that before. Obviously, I never use them. So now my question is whether you can take a heavy flamer, a regular flamer, and a heavy weapons team in a single ordinary squad?
Oops...I guess you can do it in a PCS or CCS but not in a ordinary squad. No heavy flamers for them.

18980
Post by: Arakasi
I've magnetised some of Da Dark Angelz - Deffkoptas (weapons) and Trukks (wheels) so far. Happy to try and help - I at least know some pitfalls to avoid!
So far, I'd suggest:
1) Use the biggest magnet you can for any given join.
2) Use more than one or a pin to stop sag.
3) Be consistent with polarities - this way you can move weapons and options between multiple models.
4) Find a way to line them up as perfectly as possible (still working on this...)
18039
Post by: CrashUSAR
to line them up perfectly, I always place an extra magnet (typically a third one) in between the two that are being glued, it kind've acts like a spacer or a gap filler if the magnets won't quite make contact but still pull towards each other. First, I glue on of the magnets where I want it. Then, I place the spacer magnet and the other to-be-glued magnet on top of the first. Lastly, I put some glue on the top magnet and attach the plastic (or pewter in some cases) bit to it and wait for the glue to totally dry (less than a minute or up to an hour, why is beyond me). Once that's finished I just remove the spacer magnet and there ya are. Perfectly lined up magnets.
edit: Er, may be a tad confusing to some of us who don't speak English as a first language. Can post pictures upon request.

Alright, so my intrest in Guard has dried up atm. But, with the release of the new Ven. Dread my BR are getting their second coming!!
To fit these two armies together the fluff runs something like this:
The Red Shields are a Cadian force that were raised 200 years previously, having excelled on multiple battle fields they were moved around frequently, often plugging holes in overstretched battle lines, their mobile Mech. structure an enormous boon for many campaigns. For the past 20 years they have been in the Dark-Rung system in the Galactic NE. The systems main planet, a sprawling wasteland desert with huge continent sized Oasis's is called Preen; so named after the Imperial General that was raised here over 10000 years ago. Since the deserts are extremely hazardous to be in for sustained periods of time (even tallran companies have found it horrible) the people of Preen inhabit huge hive cities in the acres of woodland around the Oasis's. Due to the large amounts of gas given out by such a large city combined with the humid equatoral climate thick cold fogs often settle over the area, this is where the Red Shields distinct shoulder pad colour came from, they would identify each other through this fog by the red of a shoulder pad!
Preen and its neighbouring planets are vital points on the frontier, for they not only remain fiercely loyal but also are perfect staging grounds for any assaults on the surrounding galaxies and even countering any assaults from the void. TarnBeck is the home to a large naval dockyard. Due to its vital positioning the Imperium has kept a wary eye on the area, peculiarly the system has been bypassed by 4 Tyranid hive fleets. it was attacked by splinters of 2 of these fleets but the main body sailed past, intent on other larger systems. The latest of these were defeated by a combined effort from the Red Shields (suffering heavy casualties) and the BR 3rd and 9th company who have been present in the system since that narrowly averted disaster (they have always had a keen interest in the area due to the high number of aspirants that they can gain from the area).
Recently, and to the displeasure of many in the imperial heirarchy the planet on the outskirts of the system has fallen out of communication with the rest of the system, 4 scout squads from the Blood Ravens were sent to infiltrate the Scarth Dell's defences and find out what had happened. Among then was Sergeant Corallis, a veteran from the wars on Tartarus and Kronus. His squad was the only to return, and they bore bad news. The planet had been infiltrated by agents of Chaos and had now turned from the light of the emperor. Along with this the Warlord Grotmuncha and his disturbed Mek Wazdog have started to take an interest in the system also, things getting uglu the Govener of the system met with Cpt. Angelos (Master of the Arsenal) of the BR 3rd to decide what to do, they agreed not to take action till more forces had gathered. calls were sent to the DA in the Rock, which was in a nearby system along with the other companies of the BR chapter, they all responded, the DA owing a debt to the BR from the previous Millenium where a BR captain died to protect the Chapter Master Azreal when his honour guard had died to a Necron Lord! The Blood Ravens have most of their aspirants obtained from this area since the destruction of Cyrene and their present Chapter Master himself comes from the Agri-moon of Kardoth 5.
The Dark-Rung system is about to be tested, and its loss could mean devastation for the Eastern sector. Automatically Appended Next Post: Pics to follow, hopefully tomorrow

1) Your guard need to have some sort of markings for squad/regiment delineation.
2) The shoulder pads on the Blood ravens look a little yellow in the photo, is that how they look in RL? I tend to think Blood Ravens should be more bone colored.

I'm liking what I'm seeing so far, besides one little problem I have with your backstory. If memory serves right, the first recorded Necron encounter, the Sanctuary 101 massacre, happened 100-300 years ago, a bit late for your Necron lord last millennium. You can keep your background as it is; I'm just a little nitpicky with these things. Otherwise, I'm liking the colourscheme and idea behind it. And might there then be a bit of Dark Angel involvement in with your forces?

Brother-Pilot Larsa is the most prominent Land Speeder pilot in the Imperium today, he operates in his Land Speeder tornado The Ravens Talon and has won honours so numerous that he has been seconded to the Deathwatch for covert operations twice, the most a pilot ever has been. These awards festoon his Land Speeder and he is celebrated amongst his company. He first made his name when he carried out an upper atmosphere manoeuvre out of an exploding Thunderhawk. he continued to (with the help of his then gunner Petr Gorlan) He took out 5 talon bombers and saved the Advancing Imperial force from extensive bombing!
I will be entering this model in a competition my local store is running and hope to finish him by the weekend.
Hope you like it, and i would appreciate feedback. Sorry for the lack of updates, Schoolwork and exams get in the way :(

I'm liking the background behind your land speeder driver. He gonna get some cool special rules to back up his destructive power?
18424
Post by: Imperial Monkey
That background is simply my garden But thank you anyway My dad would take that as a compliment to his gardening skills I reckon.
I may create some rules for him, Like he would make a good Counts As Sammael from the DA codex. I'll have to think about it.

Hey man, heck of a blog you have here. I have a guard army myself and I love that sentinel pilot. Idc what anyone else says, a commander popping up over the top hatch to shout some minute order through the fog is bad ass to me.
"Commander Wade cursed the fog, "Emperor be damned!" he thought. Too long had the regiment been on this backwater planet, too many deaths, too many friends lost to the warp. But now, with the enemy forward column moving towards his position, Wade gripped the controls of his Mk IV Sentinel with relish.
He reached up and through the roll bars of Old Greisha, the name of his trusty walker, to shout an order through the dense fog. Wade's recon platoon had been waiting in the wings for this enemy unit for three days, the weathered commander had no need to worry about lurking enemy infiltrators as he shouted, "Mack! North East! Zero that column and wait for my order!" His second, Mack Bensen, nodded curtly and passed the order to the other pilots, Zerth and McCann...
Wade ducked back inside the role bars of Old Greisha, he lit his last remaining ursarian cigar from that old campaign and smiled as he flipped up the safety on the trigger of his Lascannon. The warning light on the trigger handle changed from a blood red to an enticing green with a low beep.
In the relief of the cigar light inside the cabin of old Greisha, Wade smiled as he pulled the trigger over and over again..."
Cheers mate! Excellent stuff

Thanks Lasfire, I have infact painted him now and will post pics later tonight, only problem with the fluff is that it is armed with an autocannon...but your close enough
For everyone now, the Red Shields are going to undergo a large makover that involves scrapping alot and tuning my army into a more mechvet style with as many tanks as possible...as you may guess im a bit of a treadhead!
but not to worry, my love for sentinels shall continue.
If only these cursed exams could finish :(

Leighton Marko, the company's marksman looked down the street through the roiling fog toward the city gates. It had been three hours since the wall had been breached, three hours of tense, cramp inducing waiting. A shape began to appear in the haze, a grotesque and bloated outline that shuffled as it moved closer. Looking down his sight Marko took aim where the things head was and pulled the trigger. The lasgun's crack rang out through the building and Marko heard the troopers in the room below scramble to their entrenched positions. He watched the shot hit home and even heard the dull squelch as it impacted but the creature continued to move. it had shrugged off a direct head shot as if it were little more than an irksome marsh-fly. a feeling of panic crept into Marko's gut. Never had something like this happened, never, in 15years of dedicated service to the Emperor. Even the fallen astartes could be felled with a sniper shot to the right place. he fired again, in case he had missed and hit another. This time he saw the shot impact on foetid, green skin. The creature had stepped out from the fog and could now be seen clearly. It was a decaying, slimy mockery of a human and Marko felt the hairs on his neck stand on end. He felt a fear he should not feel, Marko the finest shot in the Cadian 32nd, the Red Shields had never felt fear like this. "By the Golden Throne what is that thing?" asked Commander Preen as he arrived on the rooftop. More of the creatures were emerging now, and from their gaping mouths a sonorous chant droned. "I don't know," replied Marko "but with respect sir, you'd better have a fething good plan!"

Good news everyone, the land Speeder came 2nd in the 40k single miniature section of the competition and is now on display for anyone in Edinburgh to see in person
And for that i got a certificate, thats all...pretty boring really. First place wasn't that great either, all it got was a guardsman glued to a paint pot that was sprayed gold
pretty crap prizes, pictures will be up tonight of the new guard I promise.

Welcome one and all, for the long awaited pictures have arrived!
First we have the sentinel that has been seen unpainted, more colourful now :
Next is the Veteran squad I am working on. They have been serving for near ten years and under the command of the tenacious Sgt. Gorfan they have never lost a man in combat since their founding (plenty of casualties but no deaths, all have returned to the squad fighting fit within a month!) Due to this they have achieved the nickname of Lady Luck's *******...!! Needless to say, the commissars are often found meting out punishment for this discontent!
Sgt. Gorfan:
url=http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/108817-Bionic%20Arm%2C%20Imperial%20Guard%2C%20Sargent.html]  [/url]
The sarge lost his arm when fighting in the Northen Hive cities on Scarth Dale against the last ork invasion. It has taken a few years for his body to accept the prosthetic and regular visits to the medical bay during tours do not sit well with him.
The rest of Gorfan's men:
( the first person to guess where the parts on the far left plasma gunner came from wins my everlasting respect )
I'm proud of this last vet. the scout head looks really good on the Cadian body, what do you guys think?
That's all for now. So I leave you with this:
Sargent Gorfan looked across Riza bridge to the desert beyond, to either side a large chasm fell away, the perfect defence to all but the furthest range of cannon. Outside the gatehouse the sandstorm raged. Guard duty, Gorfan cursed it under his breath, he shouldn't be here, he and his men were meant for the front where they could take the fight to the emperors enemies, not sit here defending these impenetrable walls. His left hand itched and he moved to scratch it but his hand came upon cold steel. He cursed again and muttered about the metal limb that had caused so many problems. A painful cramp was startign to form where the metal meged into his shoulder...never a good sign. Looks like it was back to the medicatium two streets away for more painful prodding and painkillers.
With a curse he went back to cleaning his beloved bolt pistol and left the storm to wear itself out.

Nice job on the plasma gunner
Are it a hand from the Cadian heavy weapon sprue?
A plasmagun from the Cadian Command set?
A cut down vox from the Cadian infantry set?
A flamer from the Cadian infanrty set?
A head from the Space Marines scout sniper squad?
Legs and torso from the Cadian infantry set?
All and all a very nice model!

Its not the quantity but the quality that counts?

I love the conversion work on the sentinel, but I think the back end would look amazing with some differences in colour, maybe a drybrush of Tin Bitz or Brazen Brass, or maybe just dirtying up the legs would work.
This thread prompted me to come out from lurking.
Brilliant work!

Alrighty, exams are over and I've finished a squad of Veterans (minus basing...that can be done at a later date...) So: Sgt. Moody; Youngest ever promoted sarge in the Cadian third, promoted at the age of 19 (althoguh that was some years ago now) he has led his squad with considerable success especially in recent years during their fighting on Mond, a world with many cities and large manufacturing areas, where mechanised advances have been the deciding battles against the orks...of recent a new warboss has emerged by name of Morgrim whose forces have met Moody in skirmishes across the outskirts of the capital Ky. Plasma gunner Sealre: A local, older man that was inducted into the ranks after fighting in outer reaches of the Mondar system. He was given a plasma gun after working as a plasma technician before joining. Already he has proven himself a capable shot (rarely overheating ) althoguh other members of the squad are somewhat tired of his over usage of grenades and his shouting due to going slightly deaf in one ear (he refuses to get an implanted augmetic till he's gone deaf WHICH HE REALLY ISN'T SO STOP MOANING!, his words, not mine). Plasma gunner Bernt; Once a farmer's boy, he joined the guard on a whim although still likes to be outside a lot. He has told the rest of his squad that he will only shave when his plasma gun malfunctions...as you can see there is little stubble there. Plasma gunner Grenth: Not much to say about Grenth. He is Cadia born and bred, never really fancied the "glory boy 8th" so instead joined the 3rd. A popular member amongst the squad he is rumoured to have his eye on Moody's spot when the grizzly Sarge snuffs it. No sign of that happening soon though. (trie to do some OSL on him...not sure about it, any comments?) Veteran Carth: Although he doesn't look it, Carth is over 50. He was the sole survivor from a regiment after an attack by renegade marines in the Scarag wars. Always grim and unsmiling, Carth would be an outcast if he hadn't saved so many of the squad at one point or another, including Moody! He likes to wear no helmet in a vain love of his still coloured hair, showing off to the rest of the "old timers" in the division. Unsurprisingly he's not always the most popular lad about camp. Veteran Mikal: Still comparatively young for the Veteran squads of the Mechanised division, Mikal has been nicknamed "lucky" ever since the squad and their chimera were stuck in the desert due to a lack of fuel and he stumbled upon two full cans. such brilliance would surely never go unrecognised... Vox Operator Hass: Hass is a stalwart soldier. He has served with Moody for sometime now and has been a confident comms expert. He is popular among the squad for his constant swearing, and his ability to hack into the colonel's personal comm link for the use of practical jokes. Only when the commissar is not on patrol of course... Veteran Cirkus: (apologies for the bad picture, will retake later in the week) Cirkus is normally very popular with the rest of the squad, funny and a success with the ladies he is currently being shunned after acquiring new boots at their last resupply at the Munitorium depot. Most think it had something to do with the pretty Quatermaster's secretary. Veteran Erud: Another new member to the squad, part of the reinforcements drafted from the depleted Cadian 3rd Infantry division en route to Cadia for retraining, erud is now training under Hass as a comms-man. They get on well and often sit alone from the rest of the squad on long rides, discussing techy things. Veteran Pilous: The youngest member of the squad, a mere 25, Pilous has brought enthusiasm for destroying the foes of mankind. However his exuberance is not always smart and Moody's steadying hand (the non mechanical one) has often had to be used to inject a little realism into the young 'un. Hope you enjoy. I know my painting is not what most would call high quality but I'm hoping the background stuff makes up for it... Comments appreciated, also what are thoughts as to Hunter-killer missiles on Chimeras??

The Bane Wolf was used as an experiment with rusting...I think it worked alright (however looking at this pic i see the colours are slightly distorted...):
Next, my entry for the pimp my sorcerer competition by Panic:
And finally some newer models for the army:
And a man-portable autocannon that needs a name...ridiculous? Yes, but Oh so 40k

Hey all, not much happened since last update. Got a couple of games in against Crimson Fist Sternguard/scouts (Draw, very nearly won) and Vs Arakasi's orks (Loss, very nearly won). I also finished my Pimp my sorcerer entry. I will post more and better pics of him at the weekend. Moody walked into the Command centre and immediately felt the worse for it. His spine tingled and the room was a dank, rotten cold. Freezing, in fact. His augmetic arm already had frost forming along it. He growled under his breath "Psyker Witchcraft!" Shivering and cursing, he continued into the dimly lit chamber. Clustered around the glowing hololith of the capital city, were a number of figures, although none of them seemed to be any happier about the temperature. Moddy nodded stiffly to his fellows and bowed to the Militant Lor- General Dernbac,. "M'lord, you summoned me?" "Yes Sargeant. I have a...special briefing for you" he replied haughtily, gesturing into the shadows to his right. Moody became aware of a rasping breath emanating out from the shadows. Masked by the unmistakeable sound of a respirator. A figure shuffled out from the shadows, pal, old and decrepid. His face was mostly covered by a respirator and his one good eye looked drowsy, his other a milky white, tinged disturbingly red. Bile came into Moody's mouth and he almost retched, but held his composure. "This is Hadouir Alyr. As you may have guessed he is a Psyker." A prick at Moody's conscience made Moody put his hand out, meeting Alyr's. Moody hadn't even noticed it was there. A voice as laboured as the breathing eminated from him. "No need to not heed manners Sargeant." Moody snorted to hide his surprise. Alyr's grip was strong, and completely at odds with his appearance. It had a surety that can only come from knowledge and restrained power. Alyr became to make a horrible retching noise and Moody realised it was laughter. He stiffened in the knowledge that the psyker had reached into his mind once again. "Moody, you are to escort Hadouir into battle..." Moody made to object but Dernbach waved away his protests. "I won't hear any of it Sargeant. Your squad has the lowest attrition rate in the whole company. And I intend to make sure Hadouir get's where he is needed. If anything he should bolster your sqaud." "But sir. He's a psyker. A witch! The boys won't be willing to travel with it." The wheezing continued from behind him. "Besides, he'd be safer with your bodyguard." "You know that's not true Moody. And don't make me order you." Moody felt a hand on his augmetic arm, and the frost began to spread, rapidly. Leave it Moody, you do not want me as an enemy Moody shook his head to get the voice out. "He's right Sargeant." spoke Dernbach, and Moody guessed that Alyr had projected that last sentence to everyone. "Right now, this man is possibly the strongest on the whole planet." Lost for words, and still reeling from the psykic pressure on his mind, Moody threw a quick salute and stormed out from the room. Behind him, Hadouir Alyr began his slow, shuffling excuse for a walk after him. And to finish, some pics from my game with Arakasi: So long Dakka, progress will slow up (even more!!!) now that I'm back to school but I'll try to make each update worth it. Cya.
