Imagine my surprise when I arrived home from tutoring to find a large brown box on my place at the table.
My father told me to open it up. I complied. And to my joy, found a codex and two IG battleforces.
My father and are splitting the battleforces, and sharing the codex.
We also found a nice present, of Mike and Ike's. My mother enjoyed them.
Thanks to miniwargaming.com, and to dakkadakka, I will begin updating with progress of both my work and my father's work.

Thank you. My dad and I plan on spending at least a night a week to model together, and when we've painted and assembled them, we'll face off and see who wins.
Very small update, but an update none the less. Clipped out the figures and pieces from the Sentinel and Command Squad sprues, and finished reading the Codex.
Still won't be able to glue any of them together till we pick up some good glues.
Now, his color scheme is that of an urban based army, using lots of greys, blacks, and some blues to disguise his units.
My color scheme will be grey, white, and blue as an accent.
He hasn't come up with a back story for his Guard, but I have done some work for mine.
The Chairo 667th Scout Regiment was raised on the planetoid of Jericho's Reach, an agri and artic world.
Eight Terran months of the year, the planet is bathed in ice and snow, due to an erratic orbit around it's planet and sun.
During the other four months of the year, the ice and snow melt and flood large swathes of land, making for fertile farming areas, allowing the occupants to meet their tithes.
During the winter months, the vast majority citizens flee to large cities built underground, close to the plantoid's core to absorb heat. It is during these months that their PDF and Imperial Guard regiments are trained.
Tommorow he'll be picking up glue, and possibly paints.
Young_Logan wrote:Very nice, when painting Sentinels paint the pilot and cockpit before gluing, something i learned the hard way
Yeah i kinda expected that to happen., LOL.
Serious Question:
I've glued my pilot to his command chair, but I haven't added the walls to the cockpit yet.
Should I leave it that way for when I paint?
Are you doing the cockpit as an Armageddon style or Cadian style?
If doing the first--don't worry about it. You won't see the pilot anyways. I just skip adding the pilots in on Armageddon styled fully enclosed ones.
If the second, you won't have to worry that much either. Not much gets obscured that you can't reach with a brush, just paint the pilot AFTER the rest of the cockpit.

My father and I did the same thing when I was younger. We played a few games then he decided to move on to other things(he has a habit of that). I ended up with a fully painted 3000+ point Catachan army that way.
I tried to position the commander in a way that makes it look like he's surveying the battlefield, same as the vox caster, hence the way the las gun is set.
I also used a regular sergeant's head and chainsword from the infantry squads for the commander, as I like the way they look then the other heads on the sprue.
The medic. I used the commander arm with a swagger stick, but clipped off the stick portions, so it looks like he's examining a syringe or possibly balling his fist.
Well, if you have an analogue for a lasgun, try doing that same pose.
You're going to cradle the gun from below, even with a sling. You wouldn't be holding onto the top.
And the vox-operator's hand that goes over where the vox-link is just doesn't look...'right' where it is. I can't really explain it, but the finger placement just looks off.
But still. 'Rightness' or not, they're coming along nicely. Don't mind my silly critiques
Kanluwen wrote:Well, if you have an analogue for a lasgun, try doing that same pose.
I have, and I understand the critiscm for that pose. because of it. however, I'll try and rationlize it. he prolly just shucked it over his shoulder a second ago, and therefore hasn't moved his hand down yet.
Kanluwen wrote:You're going to cradle the gun from below, even with a sling. You wouldn't be holding onto the top.
Good point. However, my conversion skills are still pretty crappy, so i didn't want to try and model the hand lower, so I left it as is.
Kanluwen wrote:And the vox-operator's hand that goes over where the vox-link is just doesn't look...'right' where it is. I can't really explain it, but the finger placement just looks off.
I like to think it looks like he's flippin an enemy the bird.
Kanluwen wrote:But still. 'Rightness' or not, they're coming along nicely. Don't mind my silly critiques
Thank you. Nice to have encouragement. I will also try and make them look "right" from now on, just for you.
A small update.
I have completed the banner bearer, and am happy with the work for now, though I might replace or shorten the right arm, as it looks a bit long in comparison to the left arm. Also, completed a sergeant conversion for my first infantry squad.
I have taken the sentinel pilot head with a bandana and mohawk and the dislocated arm, and I think the pose says
"It's just a flesh wound!"
My dad hasn't gotten a chance to get his models started yet, though he plans on doing so when the wheather gets nice and warm out.
@sonofruss: Yup. Real men use tool boxes, not army cases.
I was also looking at the sentinel bits, and noticed the armor piece with an aquila on it. I like the way it looks, almost like a shield, and am thinking of glueing it on my commanders arm, just to give him a little somethin etra.
LunaHound wrote:Make sure he gets a good brushed on plastic cement like testor or tamiya.
Pfft.
Build with Testors gel in the orange tube, and the models are stronger.
Just use the gel sparingly, placing tiny dots at a time.
Brush-on cement is for static models, where you need superfine, "invisible" joints.
I used to use those... they are very strong as well , and require less finesse in lining the pieces up perfectly.
But dunno , i just prefer a brush and bottle to a tube of things.
GAH!!! I just spent about hlf an hour writing fluff for this unit, and my internet shut down!
@Kanluwen: I don't plan on fielding Ogryns. But the temptation has crossed my mind.
I also was thinking of clipping off the current vox caster's antenea and using a a piece of sprue that I heated and stretched out, so it looks thinner.

I've been considering the same for voxes, with .05mm brass rod in place of heated sprue. It CAN work, but it requires alot of work to do it.

Sounds beyond my ability. How much does brass rod cost, just out of curiousity.

I like Testor's Model Master liquid plastic cement in the black bottle with the precision point. It's cheap, works well, lasts a long time, and is readily available in the US at Hobby Lobby and Walmart (usually).

His dad must have ordered from Miniwargaming.com. They ship orders with a free bag of Mike and Ikes. It's what makes them unique.
Consider me suscribed. I just can't pass up an IG blog.
@JB: Ci. My father and I ordered from miniwargaming.com during it's "Start a New Army" sale.
And I thought what made minwargaming.com was the prices and service, but clearly it's only because of candy.
The banner bearer. I used the cap head from the command sprue, the chest with all the medals, and the command las pistol.
The sergeant. I'm not sure if he'll be a conversion for vet squads, or just a regular sergeant.
I used the banadana+mohawk head from the sentinel and the bandaged arm from the command squad to make him.
The leg sub assembly of the sentinel so far.
And the heavy bolter hvy weapon squad.
I would like to apoligise for the fuzzy quality of the pics, I'll try and make them better in the future.

To answer your questions:
Tanks may be included, but my dad and I are looking around to see what the best prices are. He really enjoys building the vehicle models more so then infantry.
I will also try and retake the photos, however, I'm still getting used to using the camera, so they might all be as blurry as these, however, I promise to only put up the best looking ones.
Also fluff wise, the entire planet is engaged in agriculture during the summer months, so when it's cold out is when they train, which is eight months of the year.

FLUFF FOR THE FLUFF GOD!!!
The environment of jericho's Reach is much like the ancient Northeast of Ennslyvani of Merica, a nation from Terran antiquity. Large swathes of land that have not been set aside for agriculture are made up of dense pine forests that have gone under a mutation. When chopped and allowed to dry out, the wood becomes incredibly strong, equivilent to that of a stailess steel pipe, making for a readily available and effective building material.
Whenever a regiment or new PDF unit is raised, the unit is split into two after the original month long basic training. Each portion will then go on to their respective training, with one half recieving artic and wilderness training, the other, urban warfare and tunneling operations. At the end of four months, the halves switch off, allowing the unit to ahve an equal dispersion of skills. At the time when the units switch training grounds, several of the best cadets are chosen to remain in their respective districts as apprentice instructers. These who do, inevitbly, lag behind in the other theatre of warfare training, and so are often rushed in training for those operations.
When the units learn artic warfare, all cadets must run the perimeter of their base camp, which usually is six miles. Cadets are rarely provided with food throughtout this portion of training, and must learn to hunt, track, trap, kill, clean, and cook the local wildlife to survive. Due to the extreme temperatures, cadets quickly learn the importance of cooperation to get rations as quickly as possible to avoid hypothermia.
When learning uban and tunnel warfare, cadets must first learn knot and rope tieing techniques, and quickly figure out how to rappel. When cadets first arrive at their underground training base, they find out that they must actually climb down fifty meters to enter their barracks. During this phase of training, the cadets learn sabotage, demolition, basic engineering princibles, and sapper work. Cadets are given rations at this stage, though they are severly limited. cadets are encouraged to hunt the rats and insects that live in the caverns.

Four things that can help you to get better photos with standard digital cameras:
1. Don't use zoom! Get close enough so that zoom is not needed.
2. Don't use a flash! Have enough light so that a flash is not necessary. Bulbs that provide natural looking light are best.
3. Use a macro function if your camera has one.
4. Keep the camera still.
Good luck with the photos!
Thank you, those will definately help in the future.
Lighting is probably the biggest problem I face, so I'll concentrate on using the bulb solution you gave me.

Lucky you, good luck with that.
I do love my bits. Save them from every set I've gotten.
Golden Eyed Scout wrote:Small Update: I glued five legs for an infantry squad down today, wasn't able to do much else.
Does anybody have as much trouble as I do with that one set thats running? Cause I could use some tips for future reference.
I glued that set at an angle, sorta like he fell or got shot at, but I think it would look better if I had an idea of how to get him to stand up.
I recommend pinning one foot. I originally glued those legs to the plastic base using Testor's Model Master plastic cement. It formed a good weld but not good enough to overcome the strength of the magnets I use on the bases of my infantry. Almost every single one of the men with that set of legs came off his base over the last 2-3 years and I've pinned each one to repair. The pinned models haven't popped loose yet.
Been a few days since the last update, figured I post one.
I glued the torsos to the legs, and a vox to one torso. Wasn't able to do much else though.
Also, bit of a dilema. I have the cash to purchase a tank/transport, but I'm not sure if I should get a Chimera for my Guard, a Rhino/Razorback for my Marines, or some Scout bikers/Land Speeder Storm to use as allies.
Also, picked up some aquarium plants, and my dad and I'll cut em up to use as terrain and such.
LunaHound wrote:To get none blurry pic , i think its best to keep the subject at 1 feet away. Because if you noticed the bits in the tool box are very clear o_o
I think that's more because of the lighting then the distance, but I'll give it a try next time I take pics. Thanks Luna!
Automatically Appended Next Post: I tryed to upload some pics last night, but I got an error message. I used another card to try and do it, same thing happened.
Until that problem is fixed, there won't be any photo updates for a while.
I was thinking, though I am making some terrainof my own, they kinda suck. So I went onto the GW website to look at the scenery. And now i am torn.
I was thinking that the Warhammer Fortress would be a nice addition, and could be used as an objective in a game, as well as it just looks cool,
or the imperial sector, which would provide more terrain and allow for more diverse setups.
I figure I'll make alist of pros and cons, depending on which has more will be bought.
The Warhammer Fortress is a large and cool model. IMO, it takes up too much space on the board and is too iconic to Fantasy gaming to be well-suited for 40k.
The new 40k terrain is very nice, as is the WFB Manor / Chapel when built as a generic building.
If I were to build 40k buildings, I'd build from foamcore, using 40k Cities stuff for details.
Also, my dad gave me an idea. While talking about hive worlds, he mentioned Fritz Lang's Metropolis, and how it is a hive world.
I looked it up, and saw an amazing sight. The Tower of Babel.
Despite that it would be hard to build, I believe that it would make an awesome piece of terrain.
So, I will watch Metropolis, and I will build the Tower! Even if God curses me to never know what anybody is saying, it will be done!!
Vladsimpaler wrote:That picture is pretty much how I see Imperial held worlds. So much cooler than 'blarg skulls churches blarg' that the Imperium is nowadays.

. My cat... my cat... ate... my vox. He is so dead. Also, I've decided that my bedroom door will remain closed, even when my figures are in the toolbox. I'm going to tear my room apart looking for the vox, see if maybe he just knocked it behind my desk or something. But if he did eat, oh, there will be high hell to pay.
In other bloggity news, I have glued all the legs to there bases, except for the running ones, and have glued torsos to most of said legs.
I also made two sergeant conversions, I wish my pc hadn't crapped out, otherwise I'd upload some pics.
Finished gluing the infantry today. I'm going to work on the heavy weapon squads now. Not sure if I'll use a combo of different ones.
I'm leaning towards using a heavy bolter, autocannon, and mortar.
I figure this gives me a good balance, the mortar for hordes, autocannon for vehicles(unless i'm thinking of a different autocannon), and the heavy bolter takes care of heavy armored troops, iirc.
Course, I need to look at the weapon profile to make sure again.
I added the armor bits to my sentinel. They aren't pretty, there's excess glue, and I'm pretty sure I fused a few fingers together.
All in all, pretty god days work.
I'm pretty much guarrented to be taking wood tech as an elective next year. You get to build a table if you do well enough in the class. This then gave me an idea.
If I ahd a table of my own, I could make a board. So, my dad went out to compare prices on doors since the house is undergoing some slight renovations, and I asked him to see what the prices were for foam.

I have a few ideas for battlefields in that case.
The FLGS i used to visit had small fold-able tables. But on top are sturdy flocked and painted foams ( pink type ) cut to fit the gaming size.
So its always convenient , easy to move and store!

Solvaset works okay.
But the trick is to apply the decals over a fully varnished model, then use brush on gloss/matte varnish to seal the decal itself, or spray another layer on.
And if you're having trouble with that, Testor's makes some fantastic decal setting solutions in two varieties(one of which is dangerous to unvarnished surfaces, the other isn't).

Here's a little bit of fluff I worte up to go with the Guard. it's supposed to be from the view of the Commander remembering a good memory of his youth, just to give some perspective.
And if you're too dense to figure it out. I finished the sentinel armor and have gotten to working on the hvy wpn squads.
I'm going for autocannon, bolter, and missle launcher for the set up.
Commander Clyde looked at the assembled units on the tarmac form the balcony on the fifth level of the control tower.
The wind whipped across the airfield, throwing up dust as the over one hundred new recruits began to practice assaulting an enemy motor pool and ammo dump. They had used their own vehicles and had placed thin wooden walls to represent structures.
He watched as his own troops assembled themselves in the false motor pool.
A whistle blew.
The recruits rushed across the airfield, firing their training guns. Before the had crossed fifty meters, 60 of the recruits lay down, their red kill marking lighting up. The crossed another thirty meters, losing another forty troops, and barely taking ten of the defenders.
He frowned, and picked up his vox horn. It amplified his voice, throwing it across the entire field.
“WRONG!! Run five laps around the compound and do it again. And everyone who’s dead, stay dead. Your comrades get to pay the price for your stupidity. Everybody grab a body and start running.” He yelled into the vox.
He watched as they went through it again. This time they took notice of the painted markings represent mines and traps. They were careful to avoid them. Casualties were significantly less, he noted.
Another twenty minutes passed, filled with the recruits engaging his defending troops. They were good once they closed to range, carefully making use of cover and clearing buildings like experts. When it was done, of the eighty or so recruits that had been left over to assault the motor pool, only twenty had been recorded as casualties.
“Good. You’re showing improvement. Everyone is to report to the mess hall and eat up.”
He spoke into the vox.
As he sat in the officer’s mess that night, slowly eating the rice and grox he reviewed the tactical specs for the reinforcements he would be receiving.
Three ten man infantry squads, two Chimeras, and three special weapon troopers to place as he saw fit in his unit, and an armored Sentinel armed with a plasma cannon. Of the one hundred twenty conscripts, he knew that thirty three men would barely begin to replace the loses they had suffered retaking the planet from the Orks.
Damn the old bastard. Damn Griggs to hell. He’ll probably have my unit lead the first assault on Calipco.
This is a little bit of fluff to explain the appearance of armor in to my troops.

Assuming you can get the data off the SD card, re-format it on the computer, rather than the camera / phone / whatever.
RIP Awkward vox man. You served Golden eyes well, and you will be honoured even in death.
In other news, you can make an objective marker with a gun and helmet on it, honouring the lost guardsmen. Oh and you could get a model cat and totally stick it to the base, for extra awesome sauce factor.
The Sentinel is done. Armed with a Plasma Cannon and the chainsaw.
I also have started work on an objective marker as per ghosty's suggestion of a gun and helmet.
I'll try and get pics up on the weekened, using my buddies computer.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I also did some custimizing the Sentinel, after being inspired by reading metallifan's blog where he posted his house rules. I glued my own pistol grip shotgun to the model to represent a PDW for the pilot.
House Rule
BAIL OUT! BAIL OUT MAN!! iirc, a sentinel can suffer an imobilised or weapon destroyed result right?
Anyway, the house rule,a s long as it's okay with my opponent, is that if the sentinal suffers either of those, the pilot may "Bail out", and act as an infantry man on the table, albeit not a scoring unit. If I choose to spend his first turn on the table as an infantry unit ruling a die, on a score of 4 or more, he "retrieves" the shotgun, replacing his loadout of laspistol and CCW.
And a bit of fluff to explain this rule.
Miguel coughed as the cockpit filled with smoke. DAMN! But those Orks had some ingenius traps! Hr waved his hand, trying to clear his vision. The readout infront of him showed the stabilizers failing, as the machine tipped forward. He slammed forward, his harness saving him form being knocked out on the displays. He unhookd the belts, and kicked the cockpit open. He heard small arms fire ping of the top of the wreck.
He stumbled forward, and was nerly blown away by an Ork. He fell backwards, the stream of lead missing him by inches. He rolled, drawing his pistol. He fired without looking, feeling the foul Xenos hot breath on him.
The bright red lances stabbed into it's face. The thing fell beside him, pinning his gun arm underneath it's weight. He wriggled it free.
"Damned thing!" He yelled, and kicked it's head. He looked back at his Sentinel.
It was smoking, and he could hear the beeing sound of the plsma gun begining to go critical. He began to root aroun in one of the stow trunks on the back, and pulled out Samantha.
The old shotgun had lived up to it's namesake. She had survived countless encounters an pulled him out of many a tight spot. He took a box of shells and took stock of the battle.
Things were going badly for the 117th. He could hear the commandeer bellowing orders over the vox, heard him yelling to fall back to the rally point.
He racked the slid, and moved out. He was only jsut out of range of the explosion when his plasma cannon when critical. His back was turned, but his eyes still burned as the power of a small star exploded behind him, kicking up snow and wreckage.
He had to put his shotgun to use many times befoer he hooked up with a squad to help him.
Her?
No idea.
But she's very cute.
@GES, sorry to OT your thread
As long as I can't get pictures up, it's fine if it keeps people coming back for more. Also, I've been thinking of buying thAOBR set to get some Orks, since I seem to keep going back to them as a convient
enemy in my fluff. I might just pick up a squad or two and the codex instead.
I was alos looking at my army today.
I realised I had more Vox casters then Squads. (4).
I also did a small bit of converting on some of my troops, such as adding sights to some, or shortening the barrel.
And a bit more fluff cause I love yall so much.
Major Ken Neou was finishing screwing the flasks into his plasma pistol when Captain Travis Laurant sat down beside him on the shell crate.
Their armor was battered and brusied, but it had withstood the pounding the Orks had thrown at them. They had been deeper entrenched in the factory city of calpico then originally thought.
They had already lost the Sentinel in the first assault. General Griggs had withheld fire support, trying to curry favor with the Mechanicus for having as little collateral damage as possible.
"Heard about Lieutenant Miguel?" Asked Travis.
"Yeah. He made it though, so he'll be getting a replacement for his ride." Replied Ken. He ran his olive skinned hand through his black hair, a contrast to Travis' light skin and brown hair.
They heard the Colonel Commander before they saw him.
"Fething morons. Fething Griggs. Fething Miguel fething wrecking his fething Sentinel like that. Fething arse." His stream of curses didn't end there, and contained several choice
remarks about the hygeine and intimate descriptions of what he would like to do to Griggs' mother's uterus.
He stood in front of his two Officers.
"Gentlemen." He began.
"I got some good news sir." Travis spoke, interupting him.
"What?" replied Logan.
"We're getting reinforcement at last. The General's plan to curry favor with the the Cogs backfired. Since we were the one's that had to take calpico's puter limits,
and sicne we did such an exceedingly good job of preventing valuable infrastructure and factories from getting blown up, the Mechanicus has seen fit to provied aid for us." He finished proudly.
"I knew that. I was gonna ask you were the hell the mess is. I need a drink." Logan said curtly.
"Ohhh.... I think they moved it to Section 8." Replied Ken.
"Thanks."
Ken turned to Travis, who was blushing.
"So what are the Cogs doing for us exactly?"
"They are hard at work, assembling a Sentinel by hand, that has recieved increased armor and blessing by the Machine God, and have gifted us with new Chimera's and a new tank, as well
as giving the best of the Civil Defence Corps to be taken as recruits. Some five hundred if I recall correctly." Travis said.
"Wow. I guess it pays to not blow stuff up occasionally." Ken mused.
"But it's so much easier." Travis finished.
Ken began to clean his chainsword and repair the vox link in his helmet as Travis walekd away, presumably to try and get a drink as well.
Corpsmen Miguel Santiago of the Amored Gunnery Corps looked upon the new Sentinel the Cogs had supplied him with.
It had heavier armor plates on the front and top. He liked that feautre. He rubbed absent mindely at the large scar that had been left when an Ork had clambered aboard his vehicle and stabbed him in the chest.
He silently thanked the Emporer for blessing him with his heart being on the other side of his chest. Had it not been, he would now be dead.
It was bare, with not even a basecoat yet applied. The stark grey metal glinted as the lights shone upon the final touches the priest were applying to it.
Miguel glanced over at the Priets who had sent for him. His face was hidden benath a respirator mask, and the constant wheezing in and out set him on edge.
The colorless skin and augmetics might have had more to do with it as well.
He walked out of the assembly tent in the Guard encampment. He could see the new additions to the 667th's Armored Gunnery Corps. They would be the ones driving the new tanks the Gearheads were
building just now. He recognised one of them from Sena's PDF, where had also been raised from. Before the Orks at least.
The only good thing about being in the 667th Scout Regiment was he finally had a chance to pay the Orks back.
Travis lay down on the cot. Logan walked in, balancing two trays. He was stumbling from the drink in him.
"You okay?" Travis asked, noticing the glazed look in his commander's eyes.
"Shaddup stupid. I *hic* feel fine. I shwear it." He said.
He sat down on the footlocker at the end of Travis' cot, and handed him a tray. Rice, green beans, and beef with brown gravy. He could tell from the smell Logan had cooked it himself.
Travis dug in immediately, relishing the taste of home he got from the delicous food that the commander seldom prepared.
It warmed his soul, and made him miss home.
"So what's the occasion?" Travis asked after he had eaten half his tray.
"Whas the occshion? Whas the occashion? The occashion is we gots *hic* Sphess Marines. Member the Wolves templar?" Logan replied.
Travis nodded, and thought back to the Oaths of Fellowship the Marines had sworn fifteen years ago, when the regiment had undertaken it's first solo operation.
"They gonna hep us retake thissshh planet, since Griggs ish to fething incompetent to do it hissef." Logan fell over, the drink putting him out.
Travis gripped him below the armpits and dragged him over to a cot for him to sleep it off. He found Logan's tray untouched, steam still rising off it.
He dug in, the temptation for the delicously heartwrenching food too great. The thoughts of home and the help from the Wolves Templar helped him to sleep.
FLUFF!!!!!!
I've found myself making a lot of conversions lately.
Today I made:
1) Pistol grip shotgun
2) Sniper las gun with bipod
3) SMG
4) Snub nosed las pistol
5) Silenced bolt pistol
And a number of small conversions to Sergeants, Officers, and Troopers.
I finally managed to get some photos uploaded to photobucket. (Had to take my mom's laptop to do it, lol.)
As promised, here are some pics of the painted units, and the fully assembled Sentinel.
And here is the much anticipated pistol grip shotgun. I used the Scouts shotgun, clipped the arms off, filed the hands off, and glued the grips from one of the heavy weapon sprues to make it.
My sergeant conversion. I used a voxcaster head, the plasma pistol from the command squad, a chainsword minus guard, glued a knife from the packs sprue,
and clipped one of the binoulars in half to make his helmet cam. He only has a basecoat of grey so far.
The almost fully painted squad members. I have yet to add the white and grey fro their camo on their sleeves and fatigues.
Another two.
A simple conversion using one of the heavy weapon squads heads.
One of my favorite conversions. I used a busted space marine land speeders sensor module to make his night vision googles.
ghosty wrote:Lookin' snazzy. I like the knife across his chest it seems to work very well .think ill borrow that for my kroot >.>
It takes a bit of work to get it tho.
1) Take one of the hip packs with a knife in the sheath.
2) Very Important to have the knife in sheath model.
3) Clip Sheath off.
4) File chest, if needed.
5) Glue.
Dry fit the knife first to make sure it'll fit without filing. if it doesnt, file a little bit at a time, checking frequently with dry fits to see if it works.
Automatically Appended Next Post: More pics, yet again shamelessly uploaded from ym mom's laptop because my computer's a dick.
The painted units.
A conversion I made using one of the heavy weapon rucksack sprues.
A trooper that may become a count as sniper.
The painted sergeant, and Commander Logan Clyde.
The back of the converted sergeant.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Some ideas I've been kicking around:
1)Finally doing my nearly forgotten Red vs. Blue conversions.
2)Ordering the pieces to make my Eddie the Head conversion
3)Making a games table/some large terrain pieces.
4)Writeing some full, cohesive, complete fluff.
5)Writing a campaign, complete with special rules.
Anybody got any suggestions for what I should do next?
blury photo of the sentinel so i couldn't see the shotgun properly, same with the sniper.
Apart from that, It looks good, I am wondering how you did the sniper rifle.
Commissar Agro wrote:blury photo of the sentinel so i couldn't see the shotgun properly, same with the sniper.

1) File off the sights that are already on the lasgun.
2) Clip one of the binoculars from the heavy weapon squads in half. (You can make two snipers if you so choose.)
3) Clip the ammo box from the Scout Heavy Bolter and file it flat.
4) File of the las gun magazine.
5) Glue the ammo box.
6)Glue the half of the binocular to the top.
Right, before i have a rant, im going to point out your a much better converter than me. My stuff is generally shocking to say the least.
Now, for your paint scheme, i cant stress enough the need for and undercoat. Seeing as your unifrom consists of black, probably a black spray would really lend itself to your men. It adds instant shading, and makes colours seem less streaky. Also, i think your men may need a boost in the colours department. Give them a red lasgun, something that contrasts heavily.
@Ghosty: This is just the first coat. I plan on going back over and touching up the paint.
(Each guardsmen was painted in less then a minute tbh.)
The guns I planned on doing eitehr silver or gold, as silver would work well with my camo scheme but still stick out, and gold...
well because it's in my name dammit!
I also planned on doing numerical squad markings in red (big red one anybody?) on the shoulders or helmets to break it up.
When it is done, I will have brought some white sploches to the blue clothe and gray streaks to the black armor.
This is the test scheme for the desert camo. I've pretty much abandoned it, looks horrible.
A conversion made using one of the sentinel arms as a scanner and a hvy. wpn. squad pointy hand.
I made the underslung grenade launcher by clipping and filing a bolter. I also clipped the lasgun muzzle of to make it look more like an M4.
A sniper rifle conversion I made using the bipod from the scout hvy bolter, a bolter clip, binoculars, and two lasguns.
This is the best pic I've gotten of the pistol grip shotgun so far. Hop it comes out as clear as it's supposed to.
Nice sniper, I like the variation of snipers you are going for. looks great.
Pistol grip shotgun is just awsome.
the desert camo looks like a blob of water paint...sorry
Also, Papa Bear and I had a conversation yesterday.
I'll be ordering the tanks this weekend probaly. You sure you wanna spend you're money on them? You don't have to buy tanks just because I said I liked them.
YAY!!!
We still are doing a bit of shopping around to find the best price.
I'm thinking I'll need to pick up a few legs to make the dismounted models for the BAIL OUT! rule, but other then that, everything is going exactly as planned.

The tank crew torsos and heads work great with standard Cadian legs (or the legs on the tank sprue). I've got some tank crews done up on my blog if you need inspiration

Your blog is actually what gave me inspiration for BAIL OUT!. I also haven't seen yours upadated in a while.
When can I expect some more?
When I finish unpacking everything at my new place (Yea, I moved and it's a way bigger place! I even have a crazy snobbish neighbor! )
I painted that half-finished Lemon Rust from a while back and a Dreadnazi. Now I just gotta finish the last 20 marines and my SM Command Squad and I'm set.
They're the rich kind that get all up in mah' grill. You know, the "We have nice houses, and we don't like you poor people living among us. It makes the neighborhood less desirable." kind
Pic of some of my terrain projects, with the hvy. weapon perched on top.
Auto Cannon
Beside the firer is a PDW I made using a lasgun.
I chopped the muzzle, and glued a bolter magazine to the side after removing the lasgun magazine.
I used a chainsword arm, minus the blade to make it look like he's got a brass knuckle.
Missle Launcher
I'm really happy with this one. The guy with the launcher just oozes awesome to me.
He ain't no pansy, he stands up like a man and fires his bazooka!
The other was a simpler conversion, all I really did was file the binoculars down.
Another PDW. Filed off the muzzle, glued a bolter muzzle in it's place. Replaced the powercell with a bolt clip, and filed off the sights.
Heavy Bolter
A more traditional pose for this squad.
Off to the side can be seen the ever popular shotgun.
Another shot of the shotgun. The scout frame is endlessly recyclable.
I'd comment on the Desert camo...but I can't tell what the heck is going on.
Scout, take a pencil and ruler and put them in your photo box. Start off at roughly a foot, and gradually move in marking off the points as you go.
Once you get the clearest photo you can--erase the other marks and keep it set up that way. Another good thing to do is to turn off autoflash, and use a desk lamp aimed from behind you at the models.
I don't exactly have a photobox. I just stuck a few pieces of white paper up to the side of my desk and started taking photos.
I no longer use the flash either.
I instead use a light that can be clipped onto things for the lighting. I've also tried opening the windows behind me to let in natural light, but that doesn't do much of anything.
But I'll definately use your advice.
Golden Eyed Scout wrote:
Also, is a photobox easy to make?
Take a cardboard box and some plain white office paper. After sorting out how you're going to evenly cover the whole inside of the box, use a gluestick to coat one side of each sheet and sick it in place. Let the glue dry, then cut out a hole in the top for a daylight lamp/bulb.
I know the lighting is terrible on these ones, I literally took them two minutes ago.
Just to give you an idea of how far I've come in since I started this thread.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I'll have pics up tommorow, waiting for the glue to dry right now.
I made one version of my sentinel pilot, armed with las pistol and ccw.
My camera is broken. It won't even turn on. I'm gonna see if I can repair it later tonight, or bring it to an electronics shop and see if they can fix it.
Camera's working again. Got the photo teacher to help me. Had the change the batteries and use a pair of pliers to force the lens to extend, but it's fine now.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Gonna be ordering the new lehman russes. Prolly two of them, two chimeras, and one more infantry squad.
Haven't looked at the minis in a while, been too busy with the last days of school.
When I got the chance today, I noticed a few conversions that I didn't realize I made.
I finished the scout squad, complete with heavy bolter. Attached to it is a chainsword. (Gears of War?)
I also found two small terrain pieces that had heavy bolters glued to them.
I've searched back, and believe the reason i don't remember making them is because I was drinking and modelling a few weekends back.
For the most part, I'm actaully pretty happy with them.
I figure I'll use the heavy bolters as traps in cities fo death, and the hvy bolter scout has it attached to cut through undergrowth.
And dammit GES! Your models must be better than tabletop standard! They must be Golden Demon quality, so one day in the future, when GW enter a new catagory for GD, which will be painted army, you will win it!
ghosty wrote:Wait im confused. You primed grey models in grey?
And dammit GES! Your models must be better than tabletop standard! They must be Golden Demon quality, so one day in the future, when GW enter a new catagory for GD, which will be painted army, you will win it!
If you've seen my old thread where I painted a squad of scouts without any sort of primer, you'll understand why this marks a smart decision.
I use a grey primer becuase then they aren't as shiny, which means the paint isn't as shiny and overpowering.
Automatically Appended Next Post: My blue paint is really pissing me off. AFter I'm done using it, despite cleaning the brushes off, the paint remains and feths the brush tips up.
Anybody have any tips?
And on that note, I'm gonna see if i can find another blue that's close enough to the original to use.
I've decided that the support staff like the gunners and pilots will be wearing matching black body armor with white shoulder pads and camo stripes.
The gunners and pilots are partially painted, I'll try and get pics up later.
I didn't see any suggestions for primer dude. Glue, wires, yeah, but not primer.
Also, ben thinking of many little ways to convert my guard to carry the theme of urban/winter further.
One of the ways I'm gonna do is one my dad came up with.
I'll run a guitar wire from the exhaust pipe to be glue underneath the cockpit. (NOt attached.) The idea being the fumes will warm the underside of the cockpit, but won't enter as he'd obviously die of carbon monoxide.
If I eventually pick up some green stuff I might model some greatcoats or fur portions to the armor.
Also, I have finally given the regiment it's full name.
667th Chairo Armored Scout, 7th Ghost Division.
The 7th Ghost Division is a not so subtle reference to Rommel, and indeed, I plan on gsing a model to look like him that will function as Knight Commander Pask. The tanks will bear the unit markings of the 7th Ghost, and some will bear the Afrika Korps motto to further the theme, and a few models will have Germanic names.
Let it be said I am not a Nazi. I am proud of my german ancestry, and am choosing to use one of the most well respected an honorable German commanders and his unit as a backround for my unit.
Took some pics earlier, I'll try and get them uploaded later today.

The capital/battlefield card.
I'm pretty much cleared out my bank account for now, so this will prolly be the last post of my progress in this blog for a while.
As such, I give you all the full army photo.
Automatically Appended Next Post: The cards for playing. Armies are
Orcs, Chaos, Empire and Dwarves. Also are Elf and Dark Elf for boosters.
Hi GES , You see the blue card on the bottom corner? If you remember the distance between your camera and the card,
thats the perfect distance for all your future photos. I promise it'll all come out great,
It's amazing what one comes up with when takes Benadryll to combat a rash and becomes quite loopy. Such as booby traps.
I took the spare flamer canisters I had lying around, glued them to a base, and clip the antenea off of a vox to act as a receiver. I plan on outting a small blob of green stuff to represent C4. It'll be used in games of Cities of Death.
ANd two spare heavy bolters I had lying around got the trap treatment. I know, I know, those are autocannon shells. Bite me. I used some old pieces I had left over from the old Gothic Ruins to act as the base for the bolters. Once again, Cities of Death booby traps.
This guy'll be my veteran squad sergeant. I'm think of naming him Sgt. James Holmes, after my grammpy. I used a Scout head and a Space Marine Captains plasma pistol to make the model.
This guy was a pain in the ass to make. I hade to cut and file the cloak so many times to get it to fit right, but in the end, I'm pretty happy with it.
ANother veteran conversion. I used, once again, the Scout sprue to make this one. I clipped the laspistol's muzzle down, and clipped the magazine off, replacing it with a bolter version. The Scout sword holster is glued to his hip, as well as one of the combat knives.
And to go along with my ideas for a game board, here is the aforementioned WOOD DOWNSTAIRS that LunaHound made a jpoke about.
I think it's too skinny to make a good board, maybe cut in half and nailed side by side it would work. This is the one I'm thinking of using right now. It's small enough to be manuervable but big enough to hold a decent sized game. I have several rail road ties of this length, and plan on using them for the legs.
What do you guys think?
Also this is my weapon of choice whenever I get in a afight from now on. HAHAHA!
If you have the area a 4 x 6 table is perfect for gaming on. Another way is get a cheap card table and a 4 x 4 foot square sheet of 1/2" plywood. You will want one side smooth the other one don't matter.
Get some fine sand and go to a paint store find some bad mix paint this is where the color is wrong you get it cheaper that way. Mix the sand with the paint and roll it on the board then paint it the same color as your bases if you are lucky this will be the color of the bad mix paint. any news on sending you the baneblade commander I could send it to your dad at work if he is worried about things parents are worried about online.
And more news for the camera. The lens is apparently scratched, leaving al pictures taken with a starnge black dot in the upper left hand corner.
Any ideas on what I should do? Go to an electronics shop, clean the lens, restart it, ignore it?
Camera shop you might need a new lens or they can polish the one you have if possible don't do this your self.
how big is the dungeon for plastic dollies that might give us an idea for your table.
Turns out the problem with the camera is erratic or somethin, the guy said it'd come and go.
It's working fine now, but it'll be annoying when it comes back.
And you know that vox guy I thought was dead cause my cat ate him? Will, while moving my dresser, I found him.
The arm was missing, but he was remarkably intact.
I have since recycled him to be a Master of Ordanance.
Pics soon to come.
Automatically Appended Next Post: @Sonofruss: I plan on making a board that's 4x6.
The cheapest rout is get a sheet of 1/2" medium density fiber board or mdf for short or oriented strand board or osb for short the osb is lighter but the mdf is cheaper.
4 1"x 4"x 8 and your 4x4s you already have. cut the top to 6' long and 2 of the 1x4s to 6' cut the other 2 1x4 to 2" short of 4' this will give you 2 long and 4 short boards that stiffen up the top.
Nail the boards to the top using small nails or drywall screws long ones first the two end ones then space out the inside ones. Then attach to the legs.
For the board, I was thinking a sheet of luan, then one sheet (thin) of the pink stuff, then a thicker sheet of pink stuff to get the support.
And how bad is it that when I see a group of rocks, I find inspiration for making a board?
I also want to try and make some dogs to represent vets or to put on a display.
I was thinking of using my oldest brothers dogs as bases.
What do you think?
the foam won't really support much I will take a pic of the table I made for my flgs to show you about the support boards I was talking about it is worth it doing this correctly cause a broken table is a bad thing it leads to broken models and chipped paint.
Sorry, I'm tired right now and typing. Stuff in my head doesn't come out like it should.
I meant, one sheet of luan will be bought.
Twice as large as is needed. Then, cut in half, then glued/nailed on on top of eah other.
Then, one thin sheet of pink stuff as a base.
he thicker sheet will be were carving and such will be done to make terrain.
Right now I'm thinking of something simple.
Winter rockies.
Also, does anybody else see an Aquila in this pic I took?
I have seen the empire wizards be turned into primaris psykers. cheack the gallery for examples.
Emprie Flagellents make good psyker battle squads.
The general kit does have some good bits in it I guess. but what would you use it for?
empire preists are good for making...preists , a quick weapon swap and your good to go, in the gallery somebody made a evisorator for an empire preist.
The wizard and empire general kits are both great for making interesting guard characters... I've used bits from both in my guard force without too much fiddling.
The wizard just needs a few scroll tubes and a pistol; the General kit has lots of bits that mix/match fairly easily with standard Cadian bodies for a posh looking uniform
I've been playing Jericho alot lately. A decent enough game imo, worth a rental or buy if it's used. Why am I telling you this? Because I plan on making a sniper conversion to represent Abigail Black.
I'm not too sure how I'll do it, but I'll find a way. If it goes well, I'll make a conversion of Father Rawlings and Simone Cole. Why? Cause they are my favorite characters.
Also, I'm considering starting a beatsmen "count as guard" army to bring in the enemies Jericho squad faces in the Box. Thoughts? Ideas, Tips are always welcome.
I wasn't that big a fan of Delcado (min gun dude) cause his power took for freakin ever to recharge. It was useful though dealing with those exploding cultist feths.
And Billie (ninja chick) wasn't that bad, but she had alot more potential ingame that was wasted.
My proposed ideas for Abbie are as follows:
1) Take a Vindicare and replace the head witha female one. Green stuffing and filling will be required.
2) Using other gaming systems (suggestions are appreciated), then gsing a figure to look like black.
And the ideas for Father Rawlings
1) Commisar figure, and replace the ccw with an extra pistol
2) Using the command squad great cot legs, and gsing some stuff to finish the look.
And if anybody could suggest ideas for how to build Simone, it's much appreiciated.
Oh...wow. Your painting is...not that good. Really messy. My 13 year old brother can paint a lot better than that. I don't know if you're deluding yourself into thinking that they're really good, but I'm sorry, they're just...yeesh.

I'm not. It's good enough to meet my standards at least.
I also only spent about three minutes on each guardsmen.
I am planning on stripping them and starting over. Eventually.
SuperNiceGuy wrote:Oh...wow. Your painting is...not that good.

heh heh heh
Sorry; its all that came to mind reading you guys rail on this poor kid.
Speakin of the kid; GES, first come on dude finish painting! The camo painting look good, but the codex grey just looks unfinished!
That said, we all start off with poor hands and worse eyes, but we just gotta keep plugging away at models one after the other trying new techniques and such. Choose a model to spend some time on though; one that you want to look good and won't be upset having put several hours into. That's what I do when I'm starting a new scheme, first few models will take a couple hours until the scheme is finished and then start production lining that scheme til its only taking 20-30 minutes a model; of course that's for infantry, tanks still always take me a few hours, cause I spend too much time weathering them .
@GES: mark my words, when you get older, you'll learn that it's not a race, and you'll find that it's better for everybody if you take your time and enjoy yourself. If you think you're going to finish too quickly, just stop what you're doing for a moment, catch your breath, and then start back up again. You'll find you get much better results that way, and everybody ends up much more satisfied.

The first part sounds like a backhanded complement. But I'll take it. I still need to find the stuff to strip my models with, then I'm investing in spray paint, and taking this army to a whole new level baby! Also, which spray paint color would work best :black, white, or gray like Kanluwen suggested?

Population: 3 Million Class: Developing Agri World, Winter World Tithe Grade: 78% of Agricultural Harvest, 65% of Cattle Raised, Imperial Guard Tithe: 500,000 Troopers to be raised by end of 815. M41
Location: The planetoid of Jericho’s Reach is located in Segmentum Obscurus, within the Halo Stars, orbiting a large gas giant, known as Threshold.
Planetary Geography: Slightly larger then Terra, Jericho’s Reach primary landmass is the western continent, which is located primarily in the northern hemisphere, but a small portion of lies below the equator. Seven others can also be found, with three proving to be habitable. The two polar continents have small populations, of miners and researchers.
Planetary Seasons: The erratic orbit of the planetoid produces strange weather conditions and harsher seasons. Nine Terran months of the year, the planet experiences a harsh winter. With only three months to meet their tithes of food, the summer months are spent almost entirely engaged in agriculture, using the flood water from the melted snow to tend their crops.
Planetary History: Jericho’s Reach is considered to be a rather young planet, having been a part of the Imperium for only 200 years. In actuality, Imperials living on the planetoid date back seven thousand years, with humans livening there dating back to the Stellar Exodus, albeit having become tribal wanderers with a low technology base. Colonized in the year 221M.34, hope for the planet was low. A small Imperial presence to supply a proposed space station that would mine the nearby gas giant designated LIS-10-27. Before construction of the station could begin, a freak warp storm enveloped the planet for five thousand years. Cut off from the Imperium, and with only a few permanent settlements built, the colonists waged war against one another to control the vital structures. Many lost their lives in the battles, and the few that survived soon realized their folly. They had unintentionally destroyed the buildings they were fighting for. Those that survived were led by former soldier Chris Jericho. Banding together, they retreated to the western continent. At the time, the only settlements that remained were a small spaceport, and with winter fast approaching, Jericho’s band needed to act fast. Immediately, the colonists set about gathering building materials from the as of yet unexplored forests. It was on one of these missions the colonists came in contact with the original tribes from the very first landing. Seeking to make allies to survive the harsh winter, Jericho did all in his power to befriend the tribes. By his efforts, the colonists were accepted into the tribes. And not a moment too soon. The winter came, harsher then ever before. The tribes taught hunting and trapping, and Imperial robes soon were replaced by warm furs. When nine months had passed, much had changed. Only those able to adapt to the harsh tribal existence had survived. With three months free of worry ahead of them, the now tribal colonists contemplated their next move. Buildings were erected, fields dug, and life became easier for the tribesmen willing to change. When the planet was rediscovered, the Imperium was wary. How had this world survived in so desolate a region? How had it done so, even with a warp storm cutting all communication from the Imperium off? Many believed the only answer to be that the people of Jericho’s reach had turned to Chaos. But when planetfall was made, the Inquisition’s Purge troops found themselves greeted by civilized, if primitive looking, Imperial citizens. Colonization has been underway yet again, and the planet has high hopes.
I have come up with a few plans for conversion to be filed under the "For Poops and Giggles" catergory.
Brother Maynard: Weilding the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, Brother Maynard brings the light of the Emporer to the Galaxy. As well as shrapnel.
I decided to go with a bit more of a feudal look for them. Expect to see some minor conversions such as beards, moustaches and whatnot. More notciable ones will be me making psykers that look like shamans and what not.

I had my appointment with the Navy recruiters today. I'm thinking Seabee, specifically builder, steelworker, or equipment operator.
I took the practice ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery)and scored high enough that if I do go in, I can get builder without a doubt.
She said she expects my score to improve by at least ten points when I take the whole thing, and epossibly another five if I take a few more math courses.
Why am I posting this? Because when I was in the recruiters office, they pointed out the Navy camo uniform. (I was stupidly wearing my desert BDUs as they pointed out.)
When my painting skills get up to snuff, I might try and attempt to make Navy camo.
And back on topic:
I was talking to the recruiter, and was suddenly struck with an idea when she mentioned EOD (Explosive Ordanance Disposal).
Why not make an Orkish EOD Tech? I figure I can put whatever the hell I feel like on it, since who the hell knows what an Ork would use for a bomb?
Gonna sketch out an idea later tonight.
GES, look at my Canadian Cadian. From a distance, it appears he's wearing CADPAT, which would be an absolute nightmare to paint. but all I did was use a frayed small drybrush to apply scorpion green, Dark Angels Green, and Vermin Brown in a stippling fashion. The 'spattering' effect around the edges of each dab makes it look like digital camo, even though I didn't use any -real- pixellating method, and from a distance you can't really tell that I cheaped out plus, if I'm sitting at my kitchen table and looking over to my army shelf, I can't see him hidden amongst my collection of tightly packed GF9 trees. It turned out that well
If you want to do a set of Navy ACUs, follow the same method. Use a small drybrush and stipple the paint in layers according to the arrangement of the ACU pattern. In this case, start with a blue (Ultramarines with some Codex Grey might give you that base shade ). this is your basecoat. Paint the entire uniform with it. Then, refer back to your referance image for the next colour. in this case, I would do the light grey. I'd probably go with either space wolf grey or fortress grey, as they look very close to the grey on the pattern once dry. using your referance, stipple some grey areas onto the basecoat.
Next, take some of the same grey you just used and pour a bit into a mixing cup or a soda bottle lid. mix in some azurman blue wash (or whatever the hell it's called) to get that "faded denim" shade, and then stipple that on so that each spot partially covers the light grey to some extent (again, use your referance image)
Last, use midnight blue or chaos black and add some small, fine lines in random areas on and around the stippled patterns. Use these dark lines sparingly, as they seem sparse on the referance.
Paint gloves, boots weapon, and skintones - voila. You're done. Yea, it would be murder to do a whole army like this (My Canadian Cadian took me most of the day - though I took numerous lengthy beer breaks during the process), but it would look great for some vets or something. Or if you're insane and you plan on doing an entire army in it anyway, I say good on ya!
I've decided to completely strip this army. i don't like the paintjob I gave it, even the ones that i spent time and worked hard on.
I'm going to also remove the bits that have been glued on till further notice.
As for my commander, he's getting demoted to being a sergeant.
I'm thinking of ordering aother army box and combining the two. Time will tell what i end up doing.
For now though (aside from a few bits of fluff every now and then), consider this blog on hold.
"Hey Self, you know what would be an awesome idea for your army?"
"No Self, what?"
"Make another one, to represent the original settlers of the planet!"
"Gee Self, that sounds like a good idea. You're so smart."
Bit of an exageration of how I came up with the latest idea for my regiment.
I'm writing up a story now to explain it, I'll post it later.
If you ever need a song to give you inspiration to write a bit of fluff that is an attempt at horror, this is it.
Also, fluff is completely unrelated, i just felt like writing it.
His breath caught in his chest. His heart felt as though it was beating a million miles a second. He couldn't hear anything except the sound of metal scraping
metal, of armored boots stamping down on gratings and catwalks.
He clamped his hand over his mouth, and pulled himself farther into the overhead compartment he had hidden in.
He quietly moved the bags and equipment to the small porthole at the front, doing everything he could to hide himself.
THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP.
He had trouble telling if it was the sound of his heart or the sound of hunter closing in on his prey.
The soldier stepped into the room, scattergun held at the ready. He felt an immense pressure in his stomach, and squeezed his eyes shut.
THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP.
He heard a clicking sound, and his bladder let go immediately. The compartment was being opened. He futilely squirmed back as far as possible, pushing the plastic of the compartment in a vain attempt to break it and flee through the hulls.
THUMP THUMP. THUMP. THUMP THUMP THUMP.
He turned his head, and saw the soldier walking away, having found nothing. The bags had obscured his body.
His collar vox pipped up at the worst possible moment.
“Payton? Payton, respond?” He clamped a hand over it, but it was too late.
The soldier turned around and looked for the source of the sound.
He placed the muzzle of his scattergun against the little porthole, and pulled the trigger.
Payton screamed in agony as the glass shards and rebounding pellets struck him. He was dragged, kicking and screaming by the soldier by the hair, into whatever hell awaited. He saw many more being butchered by blades and bare hands as the slaver pulled him through the engineering level, to the boarding craft and a short lifetime a torture.
I was bored today, so in between bouts of long naps and chatting with my dad about ideas for vehicles, I've deciced to make some
winter type vehicles.
Aerosani. A disticnt possibility, since it looks to be real easy to make.
I'm thinking using scout bikes and with a little bit of plasticard and some tom foolery, it would make a great Rough Rider or Sentinel.
M29 Weasel.
I'm thinking an Ork Trukk, stripped down might amke a suitable conversion.
Or of buying a truck model form another company and taking it from there.
It'd probally represent a Sentinel or perhaps a Chimera, depending on how big I make it.
Sisa Nasu.
No idea what to do to make this one. Perhaps Ork Trukk and a tank?

Responses will not be needed as this poster has involuntarily volunteered for a multiday suspension. If you're bored with Dakka and would like to take a few days off, just do what this guy done.

Post reported. Geeze, SuperJerkGuy, lay off people. Being a Youngblood is not easy; on top of normal teenaged angst, we also have to compete with people that have been painting for years! I should know!
And Golden Eyed Scout, I really like your idea for a paint scheme. Just keep painting and you will get really good really fast!

Thanks for the encouragement, always appreciated.
Well, I changed the title of the thread again. Saw my buddy who wanted to get started in 40k today for the first time in a few months (summer vacation work schedules tend to do that.)
Turns out he actually doesn't want to play 40k anymore. . But he's giving me the stuff he bought since he knows I'll use it. .
Also, I'm still in the process of repainting. I plan on stripping the models. Eventually.
First off I'm gonna pick up some new paints and a better primer.
Pics to be uploaded later tonight of the models I have done.
Finally got around to uploading these photos, and I now share them with the good people f dakka.
Land Speeder Storm codnamed "Papa Bear".
Make sure that this piece lines up right when you glue, otherwise one side can end up without support and
can break off, as can be seen here.
Side view. I still have to file down some of the piecesof the Storm, and figure out where to glue the extra carbo boxes.
I used a head from the scout bike sprue to make the pilot. I like it alot more then the standard one your supposed to use.
Once again, a head swap. I think it makes him look kinda sniper-y.
Head swap again. Man, I must really have something against their original faces. Plus, he looks like one mean mother fether.
Side view. I used another head again. Nothing big change in looks otherwise.
This guy was supposed to be attached to the pice that fell off. I might make an objective marker of him,
or possibly a peice of terrain, ala a tentacle grabbing his ankle and pulling him to his death.
A job well done.
A little action pose i made up. If someone can think of the movie I was channeling while making this, and names it, you will
have a character in the army named after you.
I might pick another Storm up, simple because I think the models would make for some great infantry.
They'd prolly be Hardened Veterns or Storm Trooper count as.
Scout Bike codenamed "Little Man".
The observant viewer will notice I fethed this one up too. I accidently clipped the nubs off that you need to glue the
guns onto. I positioned the bike on top of an oil drum to make it look more dynamic, sorta like he's riding in to save the day.
Papa Bear and Little Man, one big happy family.
My custom MOO. The white came out a little bit thicker on the binocs then I wanted, and the blue looks terrible in person.
Definately gonna retouch those, but otherwise, I like it.
A small building I made from the sanctum imperialus. The roof is removable for now.
MOO in cover.
"Target aqcuired Sir. Permission to fire?"
I did, and it broke off again. I decided to say "feth it, it battle damage."
If I'm feeling ambitous, I might make a diorama out of it and have the guy who's supposed to be hanging on it
falling, sorta like that scene in Black Hawk Down where Blackburn falls because of the RPG.
I am also not ashamed to admit that that scene made me tear up.
You are doing a little better man, but the figures would look so much better if you spray primed them black and used acrylics instead of enamels! Trust me, enamels are EVIL.
You do show signs of being a promising model poser, the scout bike guys pose is very cool!
Scarper wrote:Was the movie you were impersonating reservoir dogs?
I love the storm - it's such a dynamic model!
Close. I'll leave it open for a little while more for more people to guess, but if your the only one, you'll win the prize.
Also, neihter of these models were painted. Wel, the scout bike got a little bit cause my paint jar spilt. I tried to clean it up, but you can still see it.
Glued the roof and added the sides.
Two of the buildings put together. Still constructing the one on the right.
I like the look of this guys arm for the shotgun better then the one I made.
If I pick up another Scout bike, I'm gonna fix the sentinel pilot up with a good looking new arm.
Also, how does the green stuff on his leg look? I was trying to make it look like a gauze wrap.
It was my first time working with gs, and I think it was a decent one.
I used one of the scout sheaths and glued a purity seal on. Pretty cool, right?
Nasu is awesome! You have to make one. I was on the ride in Nasu many times during my military service. Awesome vehicle and the sound of GM 6,2l V8 engine was music for ears.
Xenon wrote:Nasu is awesome! You have to make one. I was on the ride in Nasu many times during my military service. Awesome vehicle and the sound of GM 6,2l V8 engine was music for ears.
I think the Nasu would be like my land speeder, a model that would look cool, but have little game time. Perhaps as a count as Super Heavy, like th Stormlord, it might be used.
Beyond that, I think it would prolly jsut sit on my desk and look badass.
If you have any suggestions of what it should be, and better yet, how I should make it, I'll gladly take them.
I clipped the ammo from the heavy bolter feed box.
What do you guys think of this for the Scout's color scheme?
I took a few pics of the army in my yard, how do you think they look? The pics aren't as clear as they were supposed to be, sorry.
I think it sorta looks like a charge scene that you'd see in movies. Might write a piece about thiese pics.
The land speeder and a few guardsmen. The camo is better on stone then dirt.
Definately writing a piece up about this. Should have it done later tonight.
The pants/sleeves look too bright. WTF is that green stuff on that one scouts head as well?
The Heavy bolter guy looks cool, but the blue on his gun looks a bit much.

And what's that stuff in that second picture?
Ifalna wrote:Ges, every new update appears neater and neater. GJ! Lash on some tallarn flesh and a badab wash and I can't wait to see the progress.
Thank you, much appreciated. Only problem with you suggestion is... I don't own any washes or flesh paints. . I forgot to pick them up at A.C Moore today.
I did, however pick up spray and other paints.
No, they are not the same color. One is gray, the other two are metalli silver and steel.
Papa bear and Little Man, al painted up. (Well, not quite all painted.)
What do you guys think of silver to pick out the details and the wall eagles?
I'm gonna paint the static grass to look like it is thinly covered in snow.
My mom picked these up cause they were only a dollar. Figure i can mold them to look like rocks/cliff faces or whatnot.
Hell, I might just convince my friend it's a brownie and see if he eats it!
Ges they have snow scatter and it looks a lot better than painting the flock. Why are you using Testors paint you should be using acrylics not enamels. The oven bake clay is perfect for making rocks and dirt to do this cover a base with aluminum foil and sculpt on the rocks let dry then place it without the base in the oven using the directions on the package.
Finally got around to writing for the pics.
I took a look at the pics, and choose the one with my newest shotgun guy.
I decided he'll be the Veteran Sergeant in my army for sure. But he'll be in the one where it's still a colony world struggling to develop.
Also, his backstory will be that of an Arbites Captain, and I will make an Arbite Precinct for my gametable.
Dear God, I'm certainly giving myself a lot of things to do and not really doing them now am I? Well, you don't complain so neither will I.
Chris walked through the snowy streets of Ziyi. The wind blew drifts of it in his face, and he pulled his scarf up to cover his mought and nose from the bitter, biting cold.
The wind did nothing to quiet the sounds of approaching engines outside it's walls.
He quickened his footsteps, seeing the Arbites Precinct. It had yet to be swarmed with citizens seeking refuge.
He ran the last block, and stopped at the gate. He heard engines sounds coming from within the Precinct's motor pool.
He saw a JH-46 light tank drive out from the underground motorpool. A modified Chimera folowed, and two armored M939 gun trucks followed that as well.
Their weapons gleamed with fresh oil, and all dirt and grim had been scrubbed off, replaced with fresh camoflague paint.
"What is your buisness here?" an Arbitrator asked, hand on his auto-pistol.
Jericho pulled down his scarf, revealing his face. The Arbitrator was shocked, but he quickly recovered and waved Jericho through.
Chris walked into the Precinct compound, the vehicles lining up to be loaded with passengers and munitions.
The courtyard he had entered was wide and open, though it was under swift change.
Junior Abritrator's and cadet's even were perparing defenses. Moving large concrete blocks and rolling out dense coils of razorwire.
Heavy caliber machineguns and weapons were placed in sandbagged doorways.
Bright white snow covered the ground and hastily made defences.
Chris feared that it would soon be turned bright with blood.
-Ours, or the raiders? He wondered.
He heard a high whine, and looked in time to see a Valkyrie preparing for dust off.
-No. Snow off. Chris thought sarcasticly.
He saw men climb high towers, entering platforms to hold commanding fields of fire with sniper rifles or heavy weapons.
He only hoped the compound would be enough to hold off the onslaught of the raiders.
Further painting on the Storm. Fluff wise, for my Marines, the Scouts who use it are special ops troops, deployed at night, hence the mostly black color.
The scouts are still being painted, but will not recive as much colors as my scout squads, in keeping with the late night spec ops. force theme.
When i finish painting them, they'll also have one gray shoulder guard. I'm currently debating the color of their fatigues.
If I do gray, the boots will be black. if I do black, the boots will be gray. Thoughts?
I alos changed the color of the heavy weapon squads. They have gray shoulder guards and boots, blue chest plats, and black fatigues.
Gun cases are blue and steel, and the ammo is painted either a gold or steel/silvery color.
Currently debating on whether this barrel will be glued on the base as well.
This ammo crate till needs some painting on the inside. Thoughts?
Trying to channel the success of the scout bike with this oil drum here.
"Hey Ted, this is a great place to put our heavy weapon down."
"I know, right next to an oil drum that surely will not burst into flames if shot at, which clearly would not happen, despite heavy weapons being a high priority."
"You always know just what to say Ted."
Back view.
The light wasn't facing in the right direction when I took this. . I am going to glue the missle crate down in front of them, since I think it would look cool, and finally explain why
heavy weapons are man portable.
Stationed high above the failing planet, on the dark side of it's moon, a Battle Barge hung silently in the sky.
Painted black and silver, an icon of a wolve's skull and a with a lightning strike in the backround of a black sun.
The Wolve's Templar Battle Barge Amber Clad began to drift out from the moon's gravity well, and fired it's engines to help the beleagured planet below.
Just a short piece I've written to explain the presence of Space Marines.

When I get back home I'll try and take a few none blurry photos. The light wasn't in the right direction and the mode was worng.
I'm not sure on whether or not to buy a Valkyrie, which I plan on using for arbites in the Jericho army, or a hellhound, which would be used for the Logan army.
I'm all about using non GW products, but I hate Testors paint. I used it on my first army and it turned out horribly. Have you thought about using Vallejo paints? They are a good alternative to Citadel paints. Love your conversions though.
And are you and the Pa considering coming to Dakkacon? Its only about an hour and a half from you, and I want one of your men for my Dark Eldar prisoners.

I didn't know there was a convention in P.A. I stick to the OT and Video Game sections of the board.
The army is at this point mostly for show, as i still need to read the rules and i never botehr to make an army list.
I jsut made whatever I thought looked coolest.
Could oyu give me some more information on Dakkacon since I'm too lazy to consider checking the other sections of the forum?
