Hi after some absent time from converting and painting I thought I should continue my little Necromunda/=I=Munda project.
Concept is the Crew of a small smuggling vessel called "Plato" which has stranded on a Hive planet. I will be using either Van Saar or Delaque rules - not quite sure yet.
The crew gathers around its captain - Na'Kor Kidd (a reffernce to the bird-alien Captain Kidd from "The adventures of the galaxy rangers) - and consists of mostly humans and some Xenos.
For now I have thought about 1 or 2 kroot and maybe a tau. Captain Kidd himself is a Bird in some bulky armor.
The rest will be made up from humans as I have a lot of unused Cadian, Catachan and SM parts lying around.
And for teasers 2 pics from my old thread:

After the some correction work I present you another crewmember... I will use him either as a scummer or a gunslinger (if I roll up that skill).
So without further ado... Canderous Ordo

I like the models; Especially the captain looks very natural. The scummer is a cool model, but I feel he lacks a bit of depth; maybe because of the flash? If not, consider a wash or two to add some depth to his coat.

Thanks for the comments guys... glad you like my gang

Sadly it's note the flash... just my mediocre painting skills but I'll try another layer of devlan mud over the coat and some highlighting on the elevated areas...
thanks a lot for the hint

Thats a SM torso with the back glued to the legs... the beltpart of the SM torso was removed and the hole filled with GS
Hope you guys stay tuned today... I'll be posting pics of my first two painted juves in a couple of hours and some WIP of a SM Scout conversion which will be acting as a bounty hunter

Cool stuff man, your captain kidd looks great.
At first I thought he was gonna be like a Skexis from the dark crystal but he came out a lot more bird-like.
Are you thinking about creating any other xenos apart from kroot and tau, looks like you've got a knack for it.

Thx... I'm not sure about any new xenos... I don't have any ideas atm.. but maybe... who knows

Warpaint will probably not fit into the theme of a shipcrew... but maybe I'll build a Ratskin Scout-count-as-Kroot covered in warpaint...
And here is the second juve I promised you yesterday...

Another update here... the ships Pilot - Cid. There must be a Cid in every game^^
I did some minor GS conversions... a bandana and flying googles. Nothing special though.
The arms need some GS work to fill some gaps on the back... hope I find the time to do this the next days so I can start painting them on the weekend.

I certainly will add some more... allready got some in mind for the future.
I'm currently converting a SM heavy bolter Scout to a Heavy armed with a heavy stubber. The theme is ex special forces ( ig stormtrooper or something like that), so he will get a lot of gear and night vision googles and stuff... maybe I'll post a pic tonight when I'm home from work.

I would cut of the tooth hanging down the barrel to make it look even less orky. I'm surprised how much better that gun looks when not carried by an Ork.

That gun really looks like a heavy stubber! I concur with Anung Un Rama: removing (or replacing) the tooth with something less orky would add to the model.

Post by: konf
Thx a lot guys... just cut the tooth... it really looks better...
I still have to do something about that GS area on the gun where I've joint the Stubber to the HB part. I just looks to rough with that smeared GS and superglue. Any ideas? I heard aceton does a good job?!

If the smoothing doesn't work, you can always add a thin strip of plasticard to cover up the mess. It's the route I usually take if I mess up joining gun bits.

It's been a joy to reposition the limbs as they are easily bent or cut accurately with even some crappy tools
Very nice pose for the recent kroot.
The Hvy Weapon guy before the recent kroot is cool too, nice kit basing of the weapon.
The shotgun looks crazy big.
The kroot with the pistol: I had a similar idea, but how did you do the end of the barrell? Looks snazy.

Hmm, I kind of like the tooth. I mean these guys are interplanetary explorers - so for all we know he killed, cut, gutted and dressed the ork that owned that gun, and he keeps it as a momento. Well, it's background probably isn't that graphic, but you get my jist.
Will you be making/converting a dropship/cargo ship that these guys deploy from? There are some wicked additions you could make to this gangs rules that would make them awesome to play against.

Hi guys...
havent been doing much lately, because my friends finally convinced me to buy a PS3, which kept me busy the last days. But to everybody who is waiting for updates, I wan't to say there will be some soon. I'm currently working on my first take on a Kroot in scout armor I did some month ago but never finished.
And I've got some nice ideas for a hacker. Small computer on his wrist and some armed servoskulls and drones flying around him. The base model will probably be the sniper from the cadian command sprue (the one with the cape). But all of this is only a vague pic in my mind so there might be changes.
So please stay tuned... I'm still alive and breathing the dirty air of the underhive

Do you mind sharing (if you can get away from the PS3 long enough for a post) how you made the heavy stubber?

So i finally got away from my PS3 for a while today
And I managed to give the finishing touches to that old Kroot I talked about. The pics aren't the best... but it's already night here.
Do you mind sharing (if you can get away from the PS3 long enough for a post) how you made the heavy stubber?
The base items for this conversions:
- right arm with bolter from the SM scout box
- left arm from the SM scout box
- bug weapon from a AoBR Ork
- back part of a bolt pistol. to attach the left arm to.
-cut of the orkhand off the big weapon
-shorten the barral of the big weapon
-cut off the front part of the heavy bolter
-trim the rest of the bolter arm and the ork big waepon so they fit together (you can see in my pic I didn't do this very well as I had to fill a big gap with GS)
-glue the back part of the boltpistol on top of the stubber so the left arm can be attached to it
I hope this little tutorial is understandable... if not please let me know and I try to make a better one with pics

Konf, the first step with dealing with PS3 addiction is admitting you have a problem. I hope to soon be joining that club shortly, little big planet looks too cool to ignore - that and MGS, and Killzone oh and of course Lost Planet 2...hell, this list could go on forever.
That latest conversion looks great - what's the deal with Kroot in 40k land? are they slaves of Tau?
17244
Post by: The Good Green
They are mercenaries. The tau just got to them first.
The new guy looks great. The feel for all of your models is so pulpy. It's wonderful.

@ Archibald Jack
IIRC, the Kroot homeworl was being blitzed by Orks when a Tau fleet wandered into the area. The arrived planetside and helped the Kroot out a fair bit and they were quite thankful, signed a pact joined the Greater Good etc.
@Konf - The models you've produced are great, such subtle little conversions to give away bits of thier background, supurb work.

wicked, spikey lizard mercs. How can you go wrong?
Oh hey, for all interested in the Fanatics Online Compendium has about 70 or so supplemental rules written to add elements like hired guns, preachers, beasties, dogs and ogryns to Necromunda. I will be taking it off my site shortly, but I wanted to give everyone with interest in Necromunda the chance to download it.
Theres also, Automated Gang Roster keeping track of your gangs progress/victories/failures and credits as well as territorial earnings. There are additonal sections such as "market" where you can hock your old stuff and get the 1/2 price creds back, as well as a lost unit section to keep track of your fallen and their lost equipment. The formulas are devised by a colleague and I, and I guess it's still in beta - so I am open for new revisions and ideas to improve it's application for future games.

Post by: konf
Thx for the comments guys
About the kroot... as far as I know Disjointed is right with that alliance after the Ork attack on their homeworld.
I think that everybody (me included) associates them with mercs comes from the Kroot Mercenaries Army List in one of the Chapter Approved Annuals (2003 or 2004)
I like the kroot models very much. You can do a lot of good conversion work with them. And they somehow remind me of the aliens from Predator - but with less advanced technology.
@ Jack:
Thx alot for the compendium... there were some rules in it I didn't already have.
But if I didn't miss the you seem to not have the blindfighting, treacherous conditions and leadership rules.
If you want I can email them to you and you can include them into your compendium.
As for the project:
I'm currently changing the arms of Cid (the pilot) - I will leave the cigarette arm but the left arm will be holding a dynamite stick to be litt with the cigarette (thx Anung Un Rama for that idea). And the shotgun will be hanging over his right sholder. But this will take a little while because I'm currently PS3 addicted...

Hi guys. I wan't to give you a littel update here.
I've been building a tau environment suit (firewarrior with SM parts) the last days - still not completely finished. I wan't him to be standing n some kind of toxic swamp... with corroded armor and stuff.
He's going to have a lot of equipment. Combatshotgun with lots of gadgets (flashlight/scope), air filtration system, lots of pouches and grenades.
Maybe I manage to complete him today after work so I can post some pics.
I still haven't started on the Cid conversion and the hacker. I hope I find some spare time to do this soon.

I'm currently at work but I can give you a list of used items. Maybe this helps
The base of the mini is a tau warrior.
Upper arms are from space marines, lower arms are from tau warriors connected right under the ellbow.
The legs are obviously tau with shortened space marine shinguards, the feet are some piece of sprue cut in shape.
Weapon is a SM scout Shotgun with various gunsights.
The backpack is tau with the intake of a SM jumppack and some GS to fill the gaps.
Different grenades and pouches from SM, Eldar and Catachan sprues.
If you need more info please let me know.
2050
Post by: Anung Un Rama
Nice idea, but the feet need work. The Marine parts look a bit out of place because they're so different compared to Tau armor. Also, don't forget that Tau have hooves.
19931
Post by: BLACKHAND
Check closer Rama, he's carved hooves out of sprue!

As Blackhand said... the hooves are carved put of a piece of sprue. But I have to admit you're right that both armor types look too different. Thanks for that hint. Maybe I'll try to hide the tau aspect oft the armor (specially those carvings in the armorplates) with GS so it looks a bit bulkier.
2050
Post by: Anung Un Rama
Right, now I see them. Still, the Marine and Tau armor are way too different. Would need some work to get that right.
17244
Post by: The Good Green
Thanks for the bitz rundown. I disagree with the armour types problem. As it's Tau Environment Suit, I would think the Tau tech was a must, but the extra armour would be thicker, less mobile. I think the fix, if needed, could be in the paint job, or a small amount of detail added to the SM parts, like wear and tear.
25529
Post by: Archibald Jack
I dig the enviro suit. I also noticed on the Tau's regular armor that they have their wee little hooves poking out the bottom as well, so what's the deal with that? are their hooves uber strong, totally kick ass and other wise resilient to the ravages of hot planet surfaces?
Secondly, the amalgamation of SM and tau armor is totally expected, especially when you consider he belongs to a salvage ship crew who'd use any combination of parts provided they worked. Also, any plans to make another Engineer character? A CC character with goggles on head and a massive wrench over his shoulder would be wicked for a CC fig. Thats a bit specific, yeah?

First off, LOVE Canderous. Loved the model when I saw it in a White Dwarf, love the conversion even more. I really like the Catachan/SM conversion too. Looks badass. Another blog that makes me wanna start playing Necromunda.
I like how you've mixed and matched armor in alot of the picks, if it's SM/Tau or SM/Catachan. Looks real well and I bet with the paintjob it'll be beautifully seamless. Looking forward to the results.

Thanks alot for the nice comments... very happy to hear your thoughts
I didn't do much modeling lately... PS3 addiction... I finished Heavy Rain 2 weeks ago and now Final Fantasy 13 keeps me busy...
BUT:
I ordered some Privateer Press minis for my Gang... and I actually plan on making another engineer out of one of them (thx Jack)
The base model will be Valeria Alvaro... love the mini with it's cowgirl look...
What I'm gonna do to her is clipping of most of the pistols and replacing them with GW pouches, grenades and holsters... I will also exchange the gun in her hand with a wrench...
and I have to do something about the boot... maybe some cadian boots and some GS
the other minis I ordered are the following... I probably gonna use the elves as eldar... but not sure
This guy is really tiny (he is smaller than a cadian soldier) so it will be difficult to swap the arms... maybe i try woodelf or eldar arms
This girl looks really good as it is... so I will probably only swap the weapons and maybe remove the pointy ears
Any hints or ideas on these guys/girls are welcome

I am also going to be using quite a mini's outside the GW range.
I really like the way the shuriken catapult has matched so well to the remaining but of the original weapon. Very eldar.

Hey guys
Anybody still watching this?! I just saw my last post was from december...
Work, PS3, friends and girlfriend and working on an WFB Ork army kept me from doing much work on the crew...
But I finally need a break from assembling my greenskins so I grabbed my 40k bitsbox and assebled some guys, did some GS work and bluetacked a lot of stuff just to look how that head works on that guy and that arm on that guy... no maybe on that guy... oh it looked better on the first on
After a long evening I've managed to put together 3 miniatures... I'm still not sure if theare ok or if I treat them as WIP^^
But as soon as I get home from work I'll take som pictures and upload them...
So stay tuned for...... drumroll..... a warden, an ex-con, and a spec ops guy with a custom plasmagun

thx guys... nice to see somebody is still watching this
and there is more on my workbench... more spec ops troopers will be coming soon... they will be either the bording crew of the plato or some mercenaries hired by captain kidd to protect his shipments... not sure yet about the fluff... maybe I'll build some more void suits for a bording crew...
currently I'm deciding on weapons... I stumbled across the Necromunda community edition ( http://www.anthony-case.me.uk/necromunda) a week ago and autoguns finally seem a good alternative to lasguns so im converting one from a bolter... its taking shape but still needs som optical targeters and a new muzzle... so some more work to do
but today's sunday and the weather is awsome so no converting today^^ have a nice sunday... and till next week

I wasn't sold on the Tau haz-suit at first, but now that you have paint on it, it looks great!
Keep up the great conversions (and the pre-paint pics)! They are really interesting to follow!
Cheers,
Rawson

I'm liking this very much.
What parts did you use for the autogun?

Boltgun and Lasgun stock if I'm not mistaken. Can't place the barrel though, was it a lasgun one too?

Hi guys
The autogun is a filled down boltgun attached to a cadian lasgunarm (without lasgun^^) like disjointed noticed... the sight is a filed down lasgun muzzle... and the barrel is just a peace of rod I had lying around (I thing it was a peace from a standard bearer pole)
