I thought I would make an Eldar show off thread, got the idea from some of the other show off threads and thought Eldar needed one. Everyone with Eldar models go ahead and post some pics of your awesome Eldar.
not to be a downer over here, but, i had done somthing like this just for necrons. sorry if i did something wrong which caused it to result in being locked as i am still a bit new here so im not used to the usual rules that go around
I'm not sure what you mean. If you think that this will get locked because there are others like it, it wont since they don't usually do that. HaerDalis awesome Eldar. I like the warlock the best.
Here are some pictures of my Wraithlord. Posed him so he looks like he is running. Not too hard a conversion just cutting a chunk out of the back of the knee and Greenstuffing it.
Grambo wrote:Wimpy space elf show off thread? It makes me want to throw up my balls.
Well, if you think eldar are wimpy, then why did you waste your time posting on it? Anyways, everything on here is full of greatness, especially that running wraithlord.
Took a pic of some of my Eldar Stuff - most of these have to be based - didn't take pics of the stuff that was just primed / not painted yet. I get easily distracted by having too many armies. Blah!
FYI. This is my first Army "team photo".. haHA!
Automatically Appended Next Post: One more pic of the Wraithlord Quartet. They're my favorite models to put together.

Hi there, I've been painting warhammer some time ago and recently picked up interest again
so I decided to renew my skills by painting an eldar farseer for a friend
and since this thread seems to be the perfect spot to post it, there we are^^
Wish i had some pics to post. I only just started and my Guardians arnt finished yet.
Careful with some of your poses guys. If you're gunna make a toon run then use reference material. Running can be tricky as both feet leave the ground and your model can look like its falling over.
With some models, people have bent the wrist like 90" to get the weapon pose they're after. Wrists dont bend 90". For extreme weapon poses you need to re-model the fingers. Use a large mirror to work out your poses.
LunaHound wrote:Very good eldar force nugleboy77
the farseer is a conversion?
Thanks, Luna! Yes, she's a conversion using one of the current Farseers with Eldrad's stafftop and sword and a female head from a DE slave with bewbs and more hair sculpted on.
She represents Q'sandria, Eldrad's protege (from his fluff). She leads the House Guard on their quest to find and restore her mentor to full life.
every time I see that Wraithlord with the leg up I think of this:
Every once in a while I see a model that completely destroys my desire to collect that army. It's not just a matter of being intimidated, even though I'll never be able to paint that well. It's more that that model completes the army conceptually. After seeing that model, I know there is nothing I can add to that army that has not already been done. From this point on all other Eldar seem like unimportant fluff in the wind.
It is bad enough we can't all look like Hollywood film stars, but we have our own little nerdy niche... and then someoe comes along and becomes the Hollywood filmstar of our own little niche.
Nurgleboy77 wrote:Then you really shouldn't look at the same artist's Revenant titan...
Although that actually is more encouraging for me to see. He's done such a superb job reimagining the Eldar aesthetic with that titan that to me it no longer really looks "Eldar-y". It's lithe, it's shape is obviously a revenant, but it seems more like an H.R. Geiger painting made out of Forgeworld product. Since that's not the way I imagine Eldar "should" be I can still imagine ways to make a revenant that fit with my image of Eldar better than that, even if the paint job will never be as good. Does that make sense?
Okay these will most likely look like garbage compared to all the professional-grade stuff posted on here. I painted mine to look their best, but ultimately they are intended for the gaming table more so than the display case.
Grambo wrote:Sure, these eldar are good looking, but, one unit is only good at one thing. Like you cant assualt a squad of guants with a dark reaper squad.
Why would you want to? If the gaunts are within assault range of the Reapers, they're well within range of the hot death cannon that is a tooled up Exarch and the rest of his squad...
Oh, hell.
(Though, really, if the gaunts ARE within reach of your back-line shooty squad, you've already lost the game.)
I've started a blog (see link in my sig) for my Eldar army which is a week or so old now. I must say i'm enjoying painting them so far and i'm only on the basic troops choices at the moment. The last time i had an Eldar army was during the 3rd edition so it's a bit of a renaissance for me returning to them now
I doubt I'll go the freehand route but the work on here is impressive. Nice Alaitoc grav-tank too. Not sure whether to go the dappled route for mine....... TBC
Here are pretty much all my decently painted Eldar (I have a bunch more which are painted, but most of them are either sloppy or drowned in blue ink. or both.)
Some of them are better than others, as I painted them over a span of time. The rangers are my earliest, and the Harlequins are my latest.
I'll start with pics of my wraithlord:
Next, a War Walker:
Various Aspect Warriors- Swooping Hawks, Fire Dragons, Howling Banshees with Exarch, Dark Reaper Exarch, Muagen Ra
Wraithguard, three of them:
Snow-camo Rangers (Pathfinders):
Farseer Eathrin (My Craftworld's Protagonist) and a Warlock. This Warlock has killed more vehicles than any other model I own. He has killed 2 monoliths and more dreadnaughts than I care to count.
Harlequins, one is a death Jester:
Nightwing Intercepter:
Shining Spears, which I forgot to include earlier with the rest of the Aspect Warriors:
Last but not least, Exarch Nektel, my namesake. He used to be the shittiest paint job out there, but I cleaned him up a bit:
I love the paint job on that titan but I'm not so hot on the face.
The one reason I don't play eldar is I'm intimidated at the thought of painting them. I don't think I could do justice to those great models. One day though. Until then I'll stick to power armor and whatnot.
I like the orange, beings that all of my is that color, but i'm not sure if I like the glass on the cockpits that color, clear would have been a nice contrast.

I just wanted to try something different with the glass, but it is a little to late now to change. I thought you would like orange since your orks are orange.
Sadly I no longer have my Eldar (all sold for a fat profit on e-bay to fund other projects), but I do have my photo's...though I didn't have a digital camera back then. Anyway, here are some pics of my work over the years. Maybe they will give some of you inspiration.
Phantom Seer (as featured in the Citadel Journal issue 36 March 2000).
Night Spinner
Wave Serpent turret and hull extension detail
Farseer Falcon
MTV (Multi Turret Vehicle) - GW hated this idea when I floated it to the Journal because it basically allows you to use the same hull and different turrets to give you a range of vehicles for your army. It used to be a great money saver. The photo on the left shows another of my wave serpent scratch built turrets (made from a plastic medicine spoon) and of course the original Fire Prism. This is another reason you can no longer order turret sprues seperately. to you GW.
Scout Walker (as featured in the Citadel Journal issue 36 March 2000).
Yrrthilien Mournsong (as featured in the Citadel Journal issue 36 March 2000).
Various Eldar Wytches
and last but not least (and technically no longer an Eldar)...
I do like the painting challange of Eldar, and many things here are really good, but I do agree eldar has no backbone, they're just annoying, they don't have good amour but they stop you from hitting them in the first place, a 20man bezerker sq stops that,
why I don't really like to fight eldar, they're really easy to blow off in combat (and don't say wraithlords, 4str10 pf attacks usually toast it)
Here are my Fire Dragons. These are still a WIP, and since I took this photo a couple of weeks ago, I have drybrushed/highlighted Golden Yellow on them, and am beginning to base the models in sand. Turned the melta bombs into google chrome logos for lols (see the guy in the back row to the left of the Exarch). hope these are good enough compared to other brilliant models in this thread. Will send more updates soon.
@Kraken: Beautiful stuff man, the extreme highlighting looks great on them!
Alrighty, I painted these for fun and because I was able to pick them up cheap at my clgs, I kinda burnt out on them at the end.
Plus, if anyone's interested, they're on Ebay right now too The Highlighting is really subtle on their blue, too.
Clgs=Crappy Local Game Store. The guy is going outta business, and he's already lost interest in his customers he currently has....
And thanks, I tried to go for the pastel look on those guys!

The falcons and wave serpents kinda remind me of really friggin awesome bat mobiles. Awesome Job BTW
Nice concepts for Wraithlords, i like them a lot! Avatar looks great, especially the golden tip on the sword, and the wraithbone runes all over the model.
Okay, here goes. I'm going to excuse the shoddy paintwork by saying that I only got into wargaming and 40K about six months ago. It's a steep learning curve!
Many of my minis are unfinished due to my terrible attention span. I flit between one item to the next doing little bits here and there, so every unit in my army gradually draws near completion at the same time, rather than me having a bunch of finished stuff then a couple of unpainted.
Enough with the gibberish, on with the trumpets!
The first model I ever did. I hadn't discovered sawing and pinning, yet attempted an action pose anyway. Then he leaned further forward while drying and got stuck like that
Some of my Harlequins have been damaged in transit, so there are a couple missing from the lineup:
I made a right pigs ear of the Wave Serpent:
Ah, a nice outing to pick the flowers:
The ladies have brought their ikebana tools:
And the chaps have brought the grenades:
Someone always has to spoil the party by inviting a demon:
For barbequeing the nids:
The guy who arrived too late to join the Farseer Lineup:

'Owzat?
I just nipped outside to shoot these, so alas the evening light meant I was shooting at a fairly high ISO, thus the pictures are grainy. I'll do proper shots once they're all finished
your not alone, i do this all the time! and i see that you joined while I was 'aving me corn flakes this mornin'. Welcome to Dakka! Back to the topic then... (how many times have I said this phrase on dakka now? about five.)
Are the hand not painted on the avatar or are they staying white? For some reason they just don't look done to me. The model is very nice otherwise though.
Yeah, his hands remain unfinished. They'll be black to match his gauntlets, then I'm going to mix some blood red in with good old uhu glue to have it dripping off his fingers. Which may or may not work... Only one way to find out!
Excellent, Gonads!
@Troo: Your avatar is great! Som really nice blending. The full silver sword doesn't look right to me, maybe paint the hilt gold and the handle black.
Here's a start on my Altansar Eldar - main theme is going to be black and purple, but the guardian squad is getting a splash of red too. The heavy weapon platform is magnetised for weapon-swappage
The pictures are poorly taken and a bit gigantic, sorry about that...
Got to practice my icon-painting at bit before I go splodging details on these...
The Falcon on that previous Falcon is just too cool. The Altansar guys look so shiney they might have stepped out of the flash gordon movie. kudos on both accounts.

Thanks. Yeah, his sword is also unpainted. I'm dithering about whether to do it blue-white, or the more traditional orange-red. I may have to go for the latter, as the Wailing Doom is a well-defined weapon even if I've tweaked other aspects of his colour scheme to fit my army.
@Doggles: I'm sold on the red-purple paint job. Excellent blending, too!
@YmeLocSquirrel256: Nice Wraithlord! He's so pretty!
@Gavin Thorne: You're conversions are really imaginative, well done, especially with the acpect themed wraithlords. Do you plan on making one for each aspect?
Having one for each aspect would be amazing, and with Shining Spears I am struggling to work out how you would build an extra large jetbike. A Banshee WL would be interesting. There are loads of great models here!
Lol, that'd be a huge fricking jetbike. He'd have to ride on a waveserpent converted to look like a vyper or something. I've seen a banshee wraithlord on coolminiornot I believe. Was a really cool conversion, used a lot of greenstuff for the hair.
I found this today and my eyes popped out of my head, hitting the cat.
This is the best Avatar I have ever seen. Im not a fan of the avatar and have never really seen a mini painted well enough for this character.. until now. Plus, its not the repetitive red colours either which is a bonus!
That avatar looks fantastic, looks kind of like his inner fire has gone out and he's cooling back to regular rather than molten metal.
@ Doggles, I really like the paint scheme on your guys too, but you've gotta make one running around with an egg shaped football (GO FLASH GO!)
Here are a couple of pics of my humble efforts with painting eldar, nowhere near as good as some of the examples on here but still...........
The Bloody Handed God wrote:I love the forgeworld avater model, it's just insanely amazing. anyone happen to know how big it is compared to the GW model?
Its pretty darn big. Maybe twice the height? I think most people get it as a collector piece rather then for their army.
Yeah, you can see a FW Avatar that looks quite decent in Warhammer World, along with two spectacular FW Revenant Titans in the Warhammer World store in a display cabinet.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I also agree, that large avatar is definitely a collector's model, cause that base is just huge, and resin isn't that durable. Still, that is an epic (not the game! lol) model.

Yeah, but they're poorly-taken gigantic pics of some sweet paint jobs, so no worries. I like the blending on your HWP shield.

Nice work there Durandal, the hair on the GW model makes the guy look like a Banshee Fire Dragon, so it's nice to see a change. In terms of modelling, it looks better too. A Wraithlord head would look great too imo, having an Avatar WL, rather than a Swooping Hawks WL or some other neat conversion. Also great work on those Biel-Tan WG, the colours look very striking.

rather than a Swooping Hawks WL
Not to say that this conversion was bad at all, just if you were wondering.
I've just done some more work on the base, covering it in water effects, adding and painting green stuff on the original wraithbone section, and of course, adding a dead, burned CSM.
any other ideas would be brilliant, i've got until August until i'm entering this for a competition along with my FD unit (which i'll show to you peoples sometime soon) at my LGS.

I'll post some of mine as well the terrain is all done, but _all_ of the tanks are still WIP, simply because I'm a lazy bum who can't focus enough to focus one thing, but instead jumps from tank to tank to tank.... one day, one day soon....
all of the terrain, plus some stuff that is still planned, will come together for a big scenic eldar-table
There are so many nice eldar miniatures in this thread that I too felt the need to post some of mine
The paint is in progress with all three of them because I cannot decide other colours than the bone and because it is kind of difficult to paint it. At least it takes time. Has anyone got any tips for me?

I'm obsessed with winged creatures and stuff battling it out. Especially creating a feeling of interaction with the environment, instead of simply slapping a motif on somewhere catches my fancy
YmeLocSquirrel256 wrote:I think the artwork on this FP looks excellent! what did you use to create that flat middle section?
To fill it out? To be honest, papercard and some very fine cement. I was totally broke at the time, had the stuff at hand and simply wanted to get it done. Mixed alot of whiteglue into the cement, so it came off alright to fill the gap between the "wings" of the falcon hull
There's not much of a tutorial to do, I simply bought some pornstar-actuinfigures off of a friend (internet says they change hands for around 100$ nowadays, company went out of business, but i got them for 3€ a piece since I built most of that terrain to be used in our gaming club), but they weren't real actionfigures (read: you could only move the arms, and only at the shoulderjoint), So i cut through all of their joints, repositioned the extremities, filled the gaps and put a platform on top of their hands I also used some plasticard to sculpt adittional supports going from their backs / heads / arms to the platforms, so that they sat tight.
I've always loved that wraithlord. Hm, maybe thinking of using that as an idea for my army... which still needs to be painted. I really need to get onto that.

Minus the boobs which I've just noticed though.
I hadn't noticed until you mentioned them. They do indeed ruin a near perfect concept. Bone breasts? What were they thinking?
Temujin wrote:I hadn't noticed until you mentioned them. They do indeed ruin a near perfect concept. Bone breasts? What were they thinking?
I like it. But Im a naughty, naughty rat.
I think the sleek style of the Wraithlord fits with the spirit in this thing being female.
I'm a big fan of females, but the cleavage conflicts with the awesome bone theme and the offending mammaries are in any event rather clumsily constructed. For proper use of the slender female form see the terrain pieces on the last page.
I wouldn't use too much wraithbone for any Eldar models, cause otherwise it starts to look like a Tomb Kings model from fantasy warhammer. None-the-less, it's a great effect, yet the breasts do ruin the model a bit.
Yeah, you need a compliment of something with wraithbone. I'm going to be trying a green, purple, gray and wraithbone scheme for my army... eventually.

That terrain is immense. I particularly like the platforms. You mentioned one of the statues was a barbie - how about the rest?

the rest were porn-star-actionfigures, although the only moveable part for all of them is the shoulder- and headjoint, so I did have to do alot of cutting and severing limbs etc.
Right now I'm working on a pornstar-action-figure and a wrestler, sadly I haven't really found a supplier for female actionfigures who are not clothed (the company I got mine off has gone out of business something like a decade ago )
To not simply post walls-of-text, a pic of my next terrain-piece WIP
on a related note: Silver, I do love your Avatar - not being red and ugly really adds alot. I'll try to get some good pics of mine, it doesn't have the stuff coming out of its head and no hair... so he does appear a good bit smaller
I just started a blog and thought I would share a couple photos from it. I'll put the blog up in the proper section. Until then, let me know what you think!
Damn, I need to start painting my stuff, this is getting stupid. I have like 3500-4000 points of Eldar, and none of it is painted except for stuff I traded for.
All your guys' stuff is amazing, keep up the great work.
You probably just need the inspiration to start painting your stuff, even though you have already seen some of the painting in this thread, which some of them are really good for inspiration.
I think it's less inspiration more motivation. I'm in a small dorm room so everything is right next to everything else and there are distractions aplenty.
Still WIP. These pics are from my Harlequin themed army. The "Eldar Missle Launcher" is custom made from spare parts from an old old computer and sewing machine. It is also magnetic so it can be changed out, I think it was part of the cd rom drive. The Guardian with a sword can be a storm guardian, or a warlock depending on my mood. And of Course, the Avatar
YAAAAAAYYYY!!! The elfy thread is back!!! Here is my night spinner (one of those vectored engines has fallen off since these pics, any advice would be wonderful). See the elfy tank thread in my sig for painting instructions, tips, details, and my future painting plans for my tank, folks!
From the back I thought that jetbike looked like a nid when I briefly glanced at it (5th picture)! That scenery below the bike looks nice, and some great stippling work there! Sorry I didn't comment last night on the previous pics, btw, are those DAs on jetbikes?! The avatar and fire dragons are brilliant (I must get one of these, I must be missing out on some great painting techniques! )! And great detailing for the edges on the panels on that Falcon!
