As the title suggests I want be nosey and find out what you consider a hobby besides the whole wargaming experience. I dabble in a few things .I play guitar ,I do have lessons kinda bored with them now. Some tiems I will pick up the gutiar and blast out a song lol. I srot of lost my love of music , not sure why maybe its all too repetative and what not . I do write lyrics, mostly based on philosophy and the way other bands have made themselves. I likes to draw now and again , I can draw a space marine pretty good . I dont draw as much lately I blame GCSE Art . It sucks the life out of you ¬¬. I do abit of photography , my camera is currently dead as I stoel the batteries to feed the xbox contorller. It not only consumes my hours it also steals my batteries hehe. I do also consider reading grafic novels a fun past time and different books sci-fi and philoshpy mostly at the momment .Reading the Art of war Waterstones. Migth aswell buy a morgage in that place .

I'm a modeller as well as a gamer, in fact I'm more of a modeller but see the two hobbies as being more or less the same thing. I just don't game with the historical kits.
My other main area of interest is being a Doctor Who fan, though I'm a fan SF series and books in general. Doctor Who is the one I invest most time and money in, I have a lot of toys and models, DVDs, books and other odds and ends and have been to the odd convention too.

I make other kinds of art, mainly with oil pastels, and play bass and harmonica (I can play the entirety of Freebird ). I'm a Gaga fan which manages to turn into a full time hobby itself, and a Dream Theater fan which is much less a hobby nowadays as they tend to stay pretty quiet. - Editing peoples' spelling, grammar and so on - I carried this over into becoming an English tutor.
- Animating, although since that's what I'm going to college for it's not so much of a hobby anymore.
- I used to play guitar, but other musicians killed music for me.
- Video games are up there.
- Reading
- Drawing and character designing. They also tie into animating, but I usually draw unrelated stuff.

A few things other than warhammer fit into this category:
1. Music - Cello, Guitar, Piano. Classically trained in all three. Music is pretty much the biggest thing at the moment for me, be it listening to it, or playing it. I'm in a band, write my own songs often and listen to music on average 7 hours a day. Oh and despite being classically trained and playing classical music for a long time the music I actually listen to and like is metal, of all varying kinds.
2. My other secret problem. Video games. Speaks for itself really...
3. History. Mostly military, but I'm also reading it at University at the moment so that's the student side of things covered.

current ride is an 89' honda CRX with a frankenstein motor built from an Acura Integra and Japanese Domestic Market Honda Civic type R. Awesome to see what other things people are into. Not really sure I would count things like board games and anime as a hobby, but I am into them as well. I wouldn't call drinking a hobby, but I've certainly burnt up a good amount of time due to it. I used to be into tropical fishkeeping as well, but I've moved so many times in the past five years I haven't had the interest to start up a tank again for fear of having to move it three times in one year. Would be nice to see more pictures in this thread. Here's my list:
Working out and nutrition. I spend a lot of my free time exercising or reading about health and nutrition or learning a new recipe. Since the weather has improved in my area I stopped driving to and from work just to get more time on the bicycle in.
Philosophy. If I'm not reading about health and nutrition it's something to do with philosophy. Seneca is currently favorite.
Fishing.
Knots. Got into it from the flashlight and EDC(every day carry) forums. Picture below of my car key fob and lanyard I made.
Homebrew/ wine making. I just got into this, but it's going to be nice to be able to offer someone a glass of mead and tell them it's mine. Picture of my first batch currently going. I've got a five gallon batch of apfelwein going as well. Still figuring out what to do next.

As you can probably tell by my profile pic, I like to collect guns (specifically rifles) and hone my marksmanship and weapons maintenance skills (CATM for my fellow military types). I currently own a Ruger mini 14, a Kalashnikov, a Romanian PSL, and a Turkish Mauser 98
I play paintball when I can, but its been a while. I'm waiting on my base to hurry up and reopen the on-base field.
History (specifically military), and tied into that is an interest in political science and philosophy. I enjoy learning about the factors that cause nations, cultures and groups to behave the way they do. In this era of globalization, I figure it pays to know how and why other nations think and behave.
I also enjoy playing video games (specifically FPS and some RPG) and creating the occasional stick figure death video for my own amusement.
Eventually I want to learn a martial art (preferably MCMAP, Krav Maga or Sambo) but right now I'm not willing to spend 100$ a month on lessons. In the meantime I will wait till the Air Force finally decides to open a combatives school.

Drawing primarily. I'll be getting my first tablet over the summer, methinks. Although I hope to go into the field of concept art and character design, so it could very well stop being a hobby and start being a job.
I used to do some 3D modelling, but it kind of tapered off with university. Once I start my 3D course next summester, things should pick up again, and I'll probably be able to build some real skill.

Well, my other two vices are tropical fishkeeping and mmos.
Waiting on the immigration folks so I can move to the US means I don't have any fish atm and when I finally couldn't stand what SOE were doing to EQ2, I left that (end of 08) and so am not doing either.
I work out and have a rowing machine I do a regular amount on but it's not something I enjoy and don't consider it a hobby, it's like brushing your teeth or doing the laundry.
But once settled in the US, it's fishtanks and hopefully the release of TOR for mmo time. Wife is a big fan of Star Wars so that's a hobby we can do together. I've also got her considering 40k, she's veering towards tyranids atm.

If your moving anywhere near San Fransisco California, you should definitely check it out on the weekends when they get their deliveries in. So many fish, most stores don't even take them out of the bags as they get sold that quickly.
I'm curious from a couple of people saying they are into archery, where did you learn? I saw a class being offered at the local community college but I never checked it out.

Only for hobby, or fun I should say. I don't have any real formal education in ethnology and because there are a lot of cultural dances out there you kind of have to go out and educate yourself on them.

Honestly Work and School take half my time away. I love going hiking and writing songs and playing on my drums.
Wargaming takes about a quarter of my time.

- competitive MtG (yeah, like wargaming isn't expensive enough)
- I'm in art school, which takes up a lot of your time.
- a girlfriend that needs attention every now and then.
I need to play more videogames as a preparation for my internship, don't know how I'll ever have time for that though.

Played MTG for over 10 years, got in shape, lost weight, cared about my hygiene. Then got tired of being sandwiched between 2 300 lb guys who probably dont own a toothbrush, Washing machine, or a stick of deodorant, in a room that normally doesnt have adequate ventilation or space for said people. So i stopped.
At least with wargaming I can have a nice 4 foot buffer.

Yeah, from what I've experienced, wargaming is even worse than MtG. Because the wargaming hobby is a bit more 'intense' (what with the modelling and painting) than the tcg hobbies, a much higher percentage of the people playing is so 'hardcore' that they have even less time for general hygiene/cooking balanced meals/wives or gf's to keep things normal etc.
+ they're also older so add balding to the list.

I enjoy writing in my spare time. Also do a little airsoft (shooting other people in battles that is), dabbled in paintball, and do this freaky thing called miniature painting (insane, I know. What kind of nerd would spend hours hunched over an inch-tall plastic man painting him?)

Well dont be too harsh not everyone is that way .i mean peopel would think me being a girl and being into gaming ect I would be a steryo type but I am really not. i enjoy so many different hobbies . I never knew my cousin who is like 20 years odler than me was into gw . The only time I knew was when I saw him at conflict North 05 ( oo how I miss conflict) . He is soo "normal" aswell lol. I think peopel need to understand a hobby is a hobby .

Video games do take up a lot of time to be honest. Since online gaming was introduced people have been button mashing thier lives away . Oh well at least it gets all your anger out . Well it does infuriate you even more at times, especially the amount of lag. ( how was that for typing much better me thinks )

Personally, I would argue that I don't really suit the stereotypical gamer image, I keep my WH40K hobby out of the way compared with the rest of my life; ie. I seperate my geeky side from the rest of it.
My other 'hobbies' include:
- Socialising/Clubbing/Parties
- Dogs
- Pub
- Sports
- Being with friends/ more-than-friends...
- WORK.
- Experimenting how far away from the toilet I can pee accurately...

I would probably have to agree. I am into music , drama and art , so I am more of the artsy type. I am big into gaming aswell but I do not think I let that get out of hand .Games and such are just abit of fun with mates.

Very true, lag is piss annoying and may I take this opportunity to say that I for one hate COD6. The lag is horrible, second, battlefield is just like gold to MW2's bronze. and Halo is like fecking platinum. Halo fan's ftw!!!

Writing
Reading (not as much as I'd like.)
MMOs (mainly WoW atm.)
RPG's (WtA, Dark Heresy, plus my own fantasy system, gave up on D&D a long time ago.)
Xbox 360 (mainly games I can just pop on and chill out on, such as Lego games, Civilisation Revolution etc.)
Music (Although this is usually combined with another hobby above as background noise )
