95% complete, we have three new pad types coming out - Scarab and Star Burst for Thousand Sons as well as a Mantis head we are doing for a dakkadakka member.

I have the sudden urge to give all my Necrons that Scarab shoulder pad...

How close are these to the same shape as GW shoulder pads? It's kinda a deal breaker for me at least if they are different shaped.

I know they are pretty spot on for regular space marine shoulder pads, I guess all I can do is post a picture with another of our models.

Painted pad on the right picture (right shoulder) is a standard plastic GW pad. Pad on the left marine are ours (both arms).

I´ll start on a scarab pad tomorrow for terminator sized minis.

2: Skull/chaplain helmets are done, as soon as I paint some up for showcase they (pics) go up on the side.

Hmm. How to describe it...
It's like the scarab body is sculpted *onto* the bad. You ADDED material to make it.
For the legs, though, you added material, then put impressions into it to represent them.
It's like... gah, I wish I had the right words... It's almost like you changed the texture of the sculpt.

Now, to be fair, the likelyhood of my buying these, whether you change them or not, is almost non-existent. I have no need for any more T-Sons.
So if others, who are more likely customers, like them, don't go changing them because of something I said. KWIM?

I thought of making the terminator pad legs not being impressions though.
Dunno why but I like the impressions, makes the pad look unique in some way.

It may be the pics but the scarab body looks so tall. Resembles a deer tick and not a scarab in my opinion. I love the chain on the shoulder pad however.

the amntis warrior pads look a bit like autobot symbols. i like the thousand sons pads though, and the scarab one, that is really well done.

I´m seriously considering sculpting up something. If I do it will be way more then a headgear addon.

My idea to a 1000k player was to sculpt Anubis, Horus and similar heads/masks (incl. Tut-Ench-Amun). How about that? Lots of potential! Absolutely no IP conflict

The scarab head might be a bit too large, but I really like how the legs were done.

I'd like to see some 1ksons pre-hersey head's and weapon's.

I've been wanting to do this army for awhile, but don't have the timeto do the conversions. I'd be in for what ever you make for them.

These parts look very nice! Shame I've already assembled my pre-Heresy Thousand Sons. The Mantis Warrior icon works great.

It's that the pad feels three or four layered to my eyes, when I first looked it felt like we had a white base, the scarabs backing level, leg impressions into that raised section and then the raised scarab ontop.
Once my eyes adjusted and the grey of the scarab and white were obviously the same level it didn't 'hurt' as much anymore, but I'm still left with a 'wow them legs are deeeep' feeling, No idea how it would paint up atm thou

And I think the cain link is great has a nice heavy look to it, like it's go crump not jangle jangle jangle

The only reason I picked the Minotaurs or the original Tiger Claws is the paint job is way different and less traditional. ( way different than my own Chapter) The second is I haven't decided which side I'd want to be on .

Still like what your doing, and there seems to be a big intrest and market for original S-Pads. Keep up the good work.

Have you ever debated producing scout chapter specific shoulder pads? I know they are molded to the arm but perhaps a set of arms with the chapter symbol would suffice? I think that they would sell like hotcakes, especially since scout sized waterslide transfers do not exist anymore.

Ive toyed with the idea... it would be difficult in execution as all those arms have specific weapons associated with them. We could also do VERY thin and small pads, but again, it would be difficult to execute..

The only way I think it could work is to make a correct size pad and leave it up to the customer to cut away the plastic pad and glue ours over it.

(I recently did this with a Space Hulk Assault Cannon Terminator, I wanted a salamander shoulder pad, and spent a good 15 minutes shaving off that huge pad. It worked but I wouldnt want to do it more then a few times.)

The idea of an overlay sounds tempting to me.... but would it hold up during the molding process? I mean, it would have to be pretty thin to not make the scout pads look too bulky.

I think it would be easy enough to trim off a scout shoulder pad with a pair of flush cutters, there's not much to them, rough them out down to the "arm" and then put the new scout pad on over the top. You wouldn't even have to be very neat about the trim job.

As a note the post heresy thousand sons shoulder pads have disappeared from the GW website and the 2010 catologue.

Perhaps you can step in and fill the gap?

First out will be a generic eagle themed loyalist PH pad and a specific scarab one for my very favorite "traitor" legion

The aim is to make 1-2 pads that will fit right into each and every pre heresy legion there is.
But one thing at a time, first I have two new series of themed helmets to chew out.

Also something nice for tanks and sisters of battle is being sculpted. I´ll post a quick pic soon for some feedback.
My opinion is that if I can ask you guys for your opinions before I send the things to casting alterations can be done and more hobbyists will be happy with the end result.

Something for tanks. An idea I had a long time to make some cool gothic looking side ornament that would fit nicely on whirlwinds, preds with no sponsons, vindicators, immolators and other things like land raiders etc.

You can stuff trophies in it or use glowing coals or flames inside that I will sculpt up to fit with the braziere.






Thing is, is this a good idea?
What about minis like necromunda redemptionists or that preacher I saw somewhere that had burning flame braziere on his head or the LoTD heavy flamer mini with a flaming bowl on the backpack.

How about an SM helmet with one of those things on top his head, would it be utterly ridiculous or could it be a cool way to show of heavy flamer sternguards or LoTD standin minis or simply show of zealous space marines?
