What army would you like to be in if you were born in 40k.

Orks, hands down. Highest entertainment/suffering ratio in the universe.

I'd probably wind up a Space Wolf or a World Eaters Space Marine.

Night Lord or an Iron Warrior.

Night Lord because they are the smartest, making the enemy lose its will to fight before actually fighting them, Iron Warrior because they have the big guns.

PDF, most likely random IG. Of course I may also end up as adeptus arbites too.

Somewhere were the war can never reach me.

If unable to be recruited by Space Marines, I would join the Imperial Navy and be a fighter pilot. I would slowly be turned by the power of slaanesh as the thrill of flying and the pursuit of perfection becomes my only concern.

An Inquisitor or Rogue Trader. Either way, I get nearly limitless freedom and tonnes of power.

Depends on a lot of factors. The Inquisition would be fun, because it would be nice to be feared and respected. I also like the duplicitous angle of inquisitorial operations.

I am also attracted to the heroism that being a Salamander would offer. Tough call.

My first thought is I'd like to be born on Baal secundus so I would have the opportunity to become a blood angel ( have always loved BA not just bandwagon hopping ) or in the case that I couldn't do that I would love to be born to a inquisitor as his son and take over the family business of killing heretics.

If I was just an ordinary Human... Imperial Navy or the Inquisition.
If I was a Xeno... Tau. They may want to enslave you for the Greater Good, but at least it's the greater GOOD not the Greater War or whatever everyone else does. I think Tau are the only species that accepts other species within their empire without wanting to murder them.

That is an excellent idea for a conversion (Hugh Heffner being an inquisitor for an Witch Hunter army that is), would like to see someone do that in the future.

Anyways i would be any of the following:

-A blood angel (SM)
-A salamander (SM)

-A Rouge Trader

I would have to go with Rouge Trader. I could technically go anywhere, do anything, trade anything (xeno tech ), get in all sorts of adventures. Failing that then a noise marine who specializes in ska music to blow up.

I'd enjoy piloting a Sentinel. Those things look fun!

i'd like to say i would be a space marine or a guardsman like many others have said, but lets be honest; if I (i mean who i am now, not the competant person i might be if i was born in the 40k universe) was born in the 40k universe, i would be dead. Guaranteed. I wouldn't survive a single day in the canadian army much less in an army that fights space aliens...

I would much rather not be in an army if I was born in 40k or anywhere else for that matter. If I had to choose, PDF on a paradise world one nice and far from the front lines. No wars to fight in and some nice surroundings. Seems like it'd be relatively safe and comfortable life.

Either an Inquisitor in the Ordo Xenos or Ordo Herecticus, or an ex-Arbite working in an Inquisitor's retinue in one of those respective ordos.

Fleet Captain for the Imperial Navy. I tend to like shooting things through space and supporting groundside forces. You want big guns? Exterminatus big enough? If anyone upsets me greatly, I make them go outside. Also, I'd get to yell, "Stop blowing holes in my ship!" and make spaceshipmen sing sea shanties as they go about their chores. What do you do with a drunken sailor?

An Adeptus Custode - The Emp's personal bodyguard. Live in a palace, take shifts watching a dead guy, only have to fight when everyone and everything else is already dead.

That or a DP of Slaanesh.

Blood Angels, Start out as a maniac in red armor assaulting front lines after deep striking in with the rest of my squad. End as a maniac in black armor who charges the nearest target and rips them to shreds only to die in battle.

If lucky, I'd end up as Death Company Dreadnought who somehow finishes out the battle so I can run a little rampage around the planet until a tech marine could figure out how to shut me down.

-either i would be a noise marine that comes with all the "benefits"
-A rubic marine because i can never truly die
-A dreadnaught of the death company because killing enemies all day is cool
-A ork because all i do is feast then fight then feast agian
-A necron lord because i can never die

I would probebly get born on a minor planet of no importance. If I got a choice, Baal Secondus, and I want a 100% chance of being accteped to the Blood Angels and NOT dieing throughout the induction, then eventually move all the way up to being a techmarine. Could call it good right there.

Tyranid Hive Tyrant because I wouldn't die thanks to the hive mind but I'm not an animal (Tyrants are sentient) and nothing is capable of defeating me (except necrons who although I can't eat, I can let my other prey deal with before I eat them.) Either that or an ork due to the fact they can't not have fun (just pound the out of some one)

In all honesty?

We'd all be but in a planetary defence force - ripe to be vapourised in the first few minutes of any enemy attack. Hopefully a few of us would survive long enough to allow some space marines to turn up 4 years too late and take all the glory. The surviving few would of coure be executed for heresy following the end of the conflict.

Realistically, I'd probably be a nameless Guardsmen, accomplishing thankless goals, until my very likely thankless death on some awful world.

What I'd like to be however is simply an Adeptus Custodes. No great glory, just a silent badass protecting the Emperor. Away from the front and only will engage in the most epic and historically impacting fights. I have no thirst to subjugate people as an Inquisitor or mow down my enemies as a Space Marine, or have my own harem as a Slaaneshi Chaos Lord.
