I'm going for 400 points in each army - that way our camapign can begin with the right combatants etc. It also means I now have a definate target for painting the little men and only have four or five vehicles to do.
So the remaining million or so points worth of grey plastic can wait - It's a load off my mind.
Gaps are just horrid eh! And they always seem to crop up about an hour before you need to take them to a game!!! That's a good idea setting a points target, it sure did help me get a wiggle on.

I'm focusing on troops now. My mate, ChaosBubbles, is supposed to be the armour support for my infantry/airbourne yet I seem to have amassed more tanks than him. And he has a lot of tanks.

TJBM. You won't have to wait long as I have some things to show in a mo.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I had my first game with these guys the other night. I still class myself as a rookie as I've not properly played since 3rd Ed. so took them down to my local GW on Tuesday for Adult Beginners. Played against a chap with Orks and was a hoot. Great thing about Guard is that the sheer numbers act as a great deterrent! plus when you have three mechanised squads waiting in reserve it puts a big downer on their spirits. All was well to begin with, took out all of his vehicles in turn one thanks to my Vanquisher and AT-Heavy Support squad. Then WAAAAAGH! were declared and then it got a bit hairy. But my old luck stuck with me as I managed about five or six direct hits. It seems that my 784 years of bad luck I accumulated from doing a mirror range review at B&Q decided to take the night off! Ended up with me losing as I failed to capture one objective while the other was contested (you try charging into Ork lines!!!).
Anyway, enough about the game. Onto the minis!
WiP Renegade Champion attached to my Heavy Support Platoon.
This is that Lascannon Sentinel. Managed to liberated some bits.
This one is done. I think.
The old Chimera sporting new track guards. ChaosBubbles made a huge FW order and everything pretty much turned up bent. I spent three hours helping him fix it but the track guards he ordered were beyond use for his style of army. I called FW support (answered straight away, four tea-break must've just finished) and they said they'd send a replacement out free of charge. So he gave me the mangled guards and with a lot of blood, faecal matter and greenstuff I have made it usable!
I start Uni next week and it's a 3hr round trip to get there and back. I think updates will be a bit thin on the ground for a while. I am getting things together to sell on eBay today 40k-wise to add to my Uni fund. Any requests just post here or PM me and I will see what pops up. Also, as usual, please click on the pictures in my blog and make a comment/vote within the Dakka gallery.
Many thanks for looking!

Amazing I do like salvage bits from pretty mangled models and create something beautiful as I have done with the box of 40 odd Cadians I was given by a kid from across the street.
5 are now Special forces operatives the rest are going to be handlers (Squad Leaders) for the Penal Legion I am making
(All in all I have abandoned the Catachan Airbourne idea...lack of funds) lol
But yea dude keep it up keep it up think BIGGER now more guns and more chaotic nastiness!!

Love the MG base and the hellhound. Really nice touches. The HH looks rickety and the armor level is appropriate.

Okay, so it's been two weeks since I updated anything and I can't say I've got a lot to show for my absence. Not really been in the mood to really do anything as it takes me two hours to get to Uni then another two hours to get back. Damn you rush hour and school runs!!
Anyway, yesterday was my first day off in a while so I decided to at least make something. As you all know I need another squad of men so I decided to make each militiaman based on someone I know. This is for both fun and to test my barely adequate converting skills.
First up is me! This is based on my videogaming personality. I usually prefer to snipe as I'm rather good at it (the shoot and scoot kind, not the camping lamer) but it has come to my attention that I also have an alter-ego which seems to enjoy charging into hordes of enemies (usually zombies or banzai-charging Japanese) with only a shotgun and knife. So I give you...
...infilTRAITOR!
The muscles are wishful thinking.
Next up is my regular videogaming and 40k modelling buddy, ChaosBubbles!
He always seems to get a heavy machine gun and then puts the stupidest sniper scope on top of it. Also, you can't really see it, but he has grenades going all around his waste. This is due to the fact that whenever we get a new game he always, without fail, finds the grenade button first by accident and kills us both.
Next up I'm doing my girlfriend...
Also, finishing up my Valkyrie and Sentinels might be a good idea.

As John Wayne once said, "Bravery is being scared stupid yet saddling up anyway." Just chuck your stuff up, if you don't think they're that good then ask for suggestions. If you don't want negative feedback, then tell them to shut the hell up and feast on their first-born's bone marrow.

I did play CoD4 on the PC. I was off work sick for two week last year and I managed to rank up to the highest rank in that time then never played it again
As for Ogryn's, I am but they're tricky to make as I'm making armoured sentry drones instead of big stupid feckers.
slann wrote:Lookin cool , glade to see your still getting things done on this army .
Very, very slowly I might add! But thanks for keeping in touch.
!!!UPDATE!!!
Okay, as you know I've been at University. I'm only there for six hours a week which is pretty pitiful but it does take me two hours to get there and then another two hours to get back. That equates to a lot of time spent rockin' out in my car munching on strawberry laces!! But I have managed to squeeze some 40k in between my required reading, STALKER, Spike Milligan books, work, essay writing and blowing people's minds with my radical views on popular history
First off, a tutorial I wrote many moons ago has appeared in an e-zine. It's a fresh-faced e-zine which is a nice compliment to the others available: Irregular Magazine
They published it before I had a chance to tidy it up but it must be noted that I do not use that method any more but it did serve me well and is a rather easy way of making rust! Oh yeah, mine's the rust tutorial. I wanted to do a miniature photo taking tutorial for those, who like me, don't have expensive cameras or photo-rigs.
To the custard pie of the matter; minis!
My Valkyrie. I was heart-broken when I found out my idea for a V-22 style Valkyrie couldn't be realised due to "stock issues" (i.e. lazy f** ks discontinued what I needed and I'm not prepared to spend £80 just to get a different set of wings).
I've only made two real adjustments thus far. I've been a bit dispondant with this as it represents my broken dreams so now I'm just saying this is a capture Valkyrie. If anyone can spot the adjustments, I'll give them a metaphorical cookie.
It should be noted that the paint-job is only about 20% complete.
Next up.
Another WiP shot. Again, only about 30% painted. I've blue- tac'd us onto a sentinel base for the moment. I'm making ChaosBubbles a servitor that was once a chav. If anyone has any suggestions on what bits to use to make this, pipe up now.
I have plans to make my girlfriend, another 40k friend of mine who goes to Uni with my girlfriend and another Dakkite here named Sanchez who I've known for a few years.
And for those who don't know, I am entering the gritty armour contest here on Dakka but I is not allowed to show you it yet.
Almost forgot to mention that I made a bits order last night. I also ordered a Reaper Miniature Nazi Zombie trooper which I plan on turning into a prototype for a veteran squad.

You get a metaphorical cookie. Sensor array I have no idea about. I made the damned thing without the instructions. I think I either threw it away or used it as TP. As for the housing, I've just shoved another sensor/light gubbin in there. It came with three so I thought why not.

Okay, Mr. Picky! It's a Valkyrie that was capture on a pad while taking a Loyalist stronghold. It suffered minor damage but the unit that captured it (my stormtroopers) decided to use it for themselves. As part of the standard de-imperialisation doctrine of the traitor mechanicus allies, the wings were removed and reattached in a more conforming manner.
Ebsolom Dhaark wrote:Outstanding blog InfilTRAITOR! The converted vehicles show great imagination and your traitor guardsmen are suitably menacing.

The head of my Exalted Champion is an old metal Chaos Marine head with greenstuff covering the eyes. Here's a pic I found of the head on the one on the left.

Ha ha ha, I would but they're boh glued to seperate bases at the moment. I will be uploading some shots later when I've doe painting them.
I can help you with this; you won't need to play CoD4 at all soon as MW2 is almost out. Woo!!
I did do the interior but it was very basic. Just painted the buttons and lights. The piping and hydraulics and then washed it all. Wasn't really in the mood when I did it.
UPDATE!!
H'okay, as you most probably know I find Space Marine stuff to be quite boring. And as you also probably know, I am trying to incorporate some Alpha Legionnaires into my Renegade list. This has posed quite a problem for me as I do really like Alpha Legion (especially after Legion) but I found that trying to paint them was just so dull. My solution? Well, I stole an idea from ChaosBubbles. In his renegade army he is also taking Chaos Space Marines but the way he has done it is that they're all not from the same legion. He has some Black Legion, World Eaters, etc, etc. He has only used Undivided and Khorne Legions as he thinks the others are simply gay. So, I pondered on how to do my Marines when I reread the rules in the Vraks list and realised I could make, initially, a five-man kill-team.
Sent to aid my Renegade Guardsmen, these hand-picked Marines are led by a Champion in order to make sure this uprising goes against the Imperium.
Left to Right:
Tactical Marine - Ordered a Black Templar bolter (with chains) to finish him off
Champion - An old metal Marine I had lying around. Stripped him down and have given him a power sword. Ordered a Space Wolf plasma pistol arm to finish him.
Specialist Marine - He is fully built. Just needs painting to be finished.
Assault Marine - He is almost done as well. Just needs washing.
Havoc Marine (Not in picture) - I only have the Heavy Bolter to hand. The rest I have ordered to make him.
These chaps were interesting to paint thus far as it's completely different to what I've done with the guardsmen. When they're all fully built and basecoated i will be applyig a green wash to complete them. Also, the choice of base is because in my list they count as an Elite choice rather than the Troop choice you'll find in SM and CSM lists.
As I've already mentioned, it was my birthday the other day. ChaosBubbles was kind enough to get me this:
It's a fantastic 1/35 Tiger I (P)!!! This means I can start making my walking Tiger I with earnest next week! I'm giddy with excitement.
It came with some resin parts and am stunned by the quality of them. Take a look for yourself, puts FW to shame.
Also, this is how big the hull is compared to a Russ. A monster it shall be!

On a completely unrelated topic, I finally got bored of marines and started a blog for my traitor guard. Thanks for the constant source of inspiration and pestering! lol.

Thanks! It is a tad huge. Started to build it this afternoon as the lighting has gone pretty damned bad. It's a whopper! And I will only use it in Apocalypse games as a Baneblade (Baneblade cannon with hull-mounted auto-cannon).
Tek wrote:1/35 models are massive in comparison to GW.
1/48 is better if you want it to fit. My Gepard and also my SA-6 had to be cut apart and mostly abandoned in the end.
I always use 1/35 as I believe the GW scale is stupidly inaccurate. Anyway, I wanted this thing to be huge. It's going to be a Chaos Tiger I. You can't do a shrimpy one at that or Hitler himself will rape you in your sleep.

Cheers me dears!!
2nd update of the day.
Took some individual shots of the Alphas this afternoon so some more detail can be shamed:
(Gawd, he looks awful close-up. The eyes need darkening and he looks wrong without a green wash. Photos add 10lb onto people and adds 110% crapness onto minis)
(He's not looking so bad...)
(Looks a tad wonky here)
(No arms but I'll strike a pose anyway!)
And here's ME!!
Almost done. Needs finishing touches and final weathering.
And ChaosBubbles!!
He's not seen it yet but I'm sure he'll be chuffed. I've ordered the Servitor to be his loader, should be here any day now.
ENJOY!

Your in-game persona looks a lot like my Marbo kitbash!
BTW, the Griffon did excellent in my cityfight game yesterday. So well, in fact, I decided to make it a semi-permanent addition to my "competitive" IG list. Accurate bombardment made sure that my shells landed on target, and it even tied up a game I was losing (damn him putting tank traps all around the objective building) by blasting off the troops occupying the ruin. I was able to keep it nestled safely in the back corner of my deployment zone, and still hit any target on the 4'x4' board. I will definitely be taking advantage of it in future games. Cheap too, only 5 points more than a bare Veteran squad.

That's what I like about arty is that it just occupies enemy units that would otherwise be causing you grief and there's nothing they can do about it. Glad to hear that it worked well enough for you to like!
-----------------------------------------------
Showed ChaosBubbles the base and we got talking about the dead Marine. We both decided that I can in fact paint well to a normal standard which quite pleased me as I'd never really tried before. But then he did point out that it might only mean I can paint Ultramarines well which instantly sickened me.

I'm happy as long as it means I can paint Ultramarines in their most natural form; dead.
Thanks, I wasn't sure how he was gonna turn out as it did involve drybrushing which is what I usually shy away from.
I've done a little more to the Tiger. Going to order the legs come payday on Friday. Here's a size comparison:
I was in awe at how big the Valkyrie was when I built it as I'm only used to light and medium armour but now this has come along and blown me away even more!

Well it's not actually a Tiger 1, it has the same turret but uses the same chassis/hull as the Elephant. They only made a handful of these effectively as prototypes before going on to make the standard Tiger 1. It's a good choice for a fantasy model because it looks unusual, if it was a straight Tiger 1 it would look too much like the source material.

Too small to be a Warhound. Using it as a Heavy MBT to go alongside my Gladiator MBT. Remember, Hitler likes to spoon.

I use 1/35. Some say 1/48 is best but I think they look piddly. I've seen the kit you're looking at in 1/35 scale. It's bigger than a Basilisk by about two inches.

Give this man a daemon-cookie! It's a Porsche (hence the P) Tiger I. His versions were superior to the Henschel version but cost far too much to build per unit so Henschel won the contract to make them in mass.

UPDATE!!
Well, I have the week off from Uni. to do lots of reading. I've done that, managed to read Cadian Blood, Blood Pact and Innocence Proves Nothing since Sunday. Am supposed to be reading up on the British Home Front in Dubya Dubya Two but, in an effort not to sound too arrogant, I'm lightyears ahead of what they're teaching so I'm catching up with my 40k.
I've built a lot this week and have almost finished base-coating all the militiamen I have. Nothing worthy of picture snappage, mind. My Bits and Kits order came yesterday so I could finally finish building my Alphas!!!
This is my Havoc in the killteam.
And this is the Tactical.
Like I said, no-where near completed. What you see is merely basecoating done. Got to start on detailing and weathering later. I also need some help with these as I need a name for the squad.
My ForgeWorld order arrived yesterday but I was out fixing my exhaust so I have to travel 40miles to pick it up from the UPS depot in Southampton so I'm gonna pop into the GW there and play with their minds. Also, still waiting on my Hoard O'bits order but that's coming in from Americaland

Elysian squad with chutes for my Disciples of Xanthan squad (storm troopers for my Valkyrie)
Renegade Heavy Stubber team. Simply awesome.
Renegade militia arms. Just 'cos.
Also, friendly chap at GW Southampton gave me some Alpha Legion transfers as I seem to have misplaced mine. Well, I've not seen them for 10 years so I can only assume they're somewhere.

Sanchez, I've found my notepad with my initial list. Just typing it up into Word and rearranging a few things. Give me the weekend and I'll have it up.
I've built two of my Disciples of Xaphan. Also sprayed the Heavy Stubber team. One may say I try to do too many things as once. I say the are correct and that I am a fool.
Xaphan Champion
Xaphan Plasma gunner
This squad is to be my quick strike unit. I am mounting them in the Valkyrie in order to race to objectives at the beginning of matches and hold them until my mechanised can come and reinforce. I expect these fellas to die. A lot. But that's dedication!

Thank you. Thinking of naming the squad "Infinite Death" and using this on their shoulder guards:
They will look more uniform compared to my militiamen as they are a former Imperial Stormtrooper squad who have aligned themselves willingly to Chaos (which is why they count as Disciples of Xaphan in the Vraks rules) and giving them an assassin look.

WiP Designated Marksman
I also have another sniper in the making bringing my overall count to 7 (as I have 3 metal cadian ones)
I have started to paint a Disciple of Xaphan to get a test colour scheme going but it's not quite ready for showing. I'm taking my time with them largely because they need to soak before I build them.
If anybody is interested, I do throw up a lot more WiP pictures onto my facebook profile which I don't deem good enough for the DakkaElite. Feel free to add me: http://www.facebook.com/infilTRAITOR

Amazing traitor army you have going here. Traitors are definitely my favorite part about Chaos, it's just sad they got rid of the LatD codex, which allowed for some really fun stuff. Still, this is definitely an army I'd like to face on the table to give me something to gawk at as my troops get blown away!

He is my prototype for them, yes. I'm still working on him so I'm hoping to have some decent pictures by next week.

Chaos, by nature, is a divided entity. Their follows are usually made of numerous factions which spend just as much time fighting each other than their common enemies. Chaos Undivided is simply a specific faction's way of worshipping their gods. So, Chaos armed forces are divided. Imperial forces are united to bring down Chaos.
Vitruvian XVII wrote:Dude, where's your mask pic gone!! Awesome diorama though, you really needn't worry about it. I've been wondering for a while though, what uni you at??
Mask pic has gone to make way for the jinglyfest. It will be back come December 26th. I'm at Brighton Uni at the moment. Have to travel there from Portsmouth every day which is sick as I only have to be there for 6hours week but I spend 28hours traveling.

Yeah, LatD rules were good but only really a stop-gap before Vrak's took over and made Traitor's wtfawesome!
Update!
Kinda. Been a bit of a hectic few weeks what with essays coming out of the wazzoo. You try writing a paper on 'how Angus Calder draws upon the experiences of ordinary people during The Blitz' and not come out the other end with at least three new mental problems. On the plus side, managed to sneak to Bovington Tank Museum on Sunday and took advantage of my year pass!!
Saracen just left to die. So sad. But weathering is awesome!
Check out the rusting! And yes, that is an old Sherman!
Check out the Char B1. Half of the paint on it was actually melted away. MELTED!!
Going to be using these photos as inspiration while I paint this over the weekend:
As for my competition entry, I came a humble sixth place. Seeing as though a number of entries were Golden Daemon standard, I was rather chuffed. I've taken some more pictures of it as the original picture was just gak and a lot of people commented on that fact.
As usual, click on the image for a bigger view.
Took this picture as well to show the size of my Alphas:
These aren't "true-scale", I just altered the mini a little while building to make them seem bulkier i.e. putting the arms on a little higher up.
I have also started work on another army but fear not! This Traitor army is my apocalypse army and will always grow!

Not changing weathering technique for this army as it would make the theme a little inconsistent. Will be experimenting with my Gue'Vesa force.

!UPDATE!
I've not had a great deal of time to devote to 40k over the last two months but I have managed to get a few things built.
New melta trooper I've thrown together.
Autocannon team I'm currently building.
Valkyrie weathering progress. Still not done.
I got some GW vouchers for Xmas and, not really needing anything from GW, I ordered a Steel Legion squad. Should be here tomorrow or Monday. I have some other projects on the go as well such as a cyberpunk themed display board for my troops, a Chaos Assassin vs. Loyalist Marine diorama and an Ordos Xenos henchman for entry into a competition.

I would just like to inform you that the Heretic pattern Leman Russ (The big walker) was made from a Chaos Defiler thats standing upright. Alot of Adeptus Mechanicus players love to use it as a 'Knight Titan' by removing the chaos sigils.
You could probably just google search Knight titan.

This stuff is amazing proper good stuff been a fan of this thread for a while wish I had as much time to paint as you do (And the deskspace).
Love the 88 Inspired Autocannon wondering now if I could use a proper 88 kit as a basilisk for my Traitor Guard as my air cav dont really use much fixed artillery well its non existant to be honest. (Need to phase out my heavy Weapons teams as they came in when I was planning on doing a stand and shoot Catachan army).

Air Cav artillery eh? If your Cav are based off of the 'Nam era US Cav, then they used to airlift small field pieces and howitzers in with them. I reckon a Valk would be able to fit a scaled down version of the DKoK Heavy Mortar thingamie. Or at least be able to airlift one.
Loving the Quad-Auto, what kit pieces were used for that?

A gun line would be handy especially for blasting huge holes in horde armies would they usually push sentinels out of the back of valkyries would I be able to put crouched valks in their own dedicated transport fleet?? two to a valk if I strip out the interiors armour plate up the surroundings oh dear lord its all going 6th July 1944 101 airbourne....my giddy stars....

Post by: Disjointed Entity
I've read some fluff of Eylsian regiments dropping specialized Sentinels out the back of transports, so I suppose It's doo-able. You could always create a heavy duty lifter to deploy some light armour, after all, the Modern Russian Airborne can deploy BTR light armour out the back of cargo planes.

Yea cool dude I used them for the first time a couple of days ago in an Apocalypse game their Valk came in reserve stormtroopers on board tried to push through heretic long range ack ack and ended up crashing it was all black hawk down. lol Crimson Raven assault Terminators forced through to the crash site secured the area orbital bombardments blasted the crap out of everything not nailed down.
In the end the Imperium lost massacre plus only one objective to Chaos/Orks 3 it may have been because I needed to push through a heavily urbanised area. But the list definately needs looking at and I do need some advice at force composition/background etc etc so would be greatly appreciated.
thanks again dude PM pending..

Now, what you need to do before you fly any troops in, is neutralize ack-ack. Bombard it, Demo charge it, or just blow the living crap outta it, and you'll have a nice happy flight =)

Yea thats why Im building the 6th deep strike ops unit a Catachan/Cadian trained outfit that deals with problems that artillery cant dig out.. they will be inserted via grav chute to problem areas that the army have problems clearing their first official mission will be to silence Orkimedes mega flakka cannons (I smell a kill team mission) before what remains of the Chrybdis Crusade army moves in on Ahrimans position.
Some latest news from the front following the battle for kings township.
Latest tactical augeries suggest that Ahriman is digging out a Necron Tomb he has thousands of human slaves and Ork Slaves toiling endlessly many POWs including the Strike Valks survivors have been added to this workforce and time is running out.
Ahriman is being reckless the Adeptus Mechanicus fears he may stumble upon something that could add a new terrifying perspective to this already costly campaign Guardsmen Marbo one of the most elusive men alive has been shipped to the area his mission will be to link up with the survivors of the strike valk also to infiltrate the workforce and gather intel a dangerous job one only a man of his legendary status can carry out.
Chapter Master Vermillion rash and impettious wants to assault the tomb as soon as possible Imperial Commanders including Crusade commander Vorshev worries that the Astartes headstrong attitude to bring the war to a close may undermine the entire campaign.

It is not over, just spent most of my summer off of university working six day weeks so I don't have to rely on Student Finance. And today is my last day of said summer so I thought 'feth it, let's paint something!' This is far from over, I have a shelf on my bookcase full of WiPs for this army so there's plenty more to come.
Sorry I didn't reply earlier, but yes those are Elysian heads with rebreathers. I do have some regular ones without rebreathers that I will be selling on eBay soon. If anyone is interested, give me the heads up.
As for updates...BEHOLD!!
