The current one is golden.

The new one will eventually get worse at the end.
Then you will eventually want the old 'dex back,
especially if its jervisified. God beware.

You realize the current DE codex is written by Gav Thorpe and... Jervis Johnson, right?

Yes. You do realize that half of the units are completely useless right? (I wonder who worked on them...)

Of course I know this, I just think it was funny to worry about the new codex being jervisified compared to the old one, when the old one was already written by him. It wasn't a very serious post, just pointing out the irony

DE truly died in 4th edition, when transport rules killed the Rhino Rush.

5th edition has loosened up the issues with transports, and now they can make a showing again - just like in 3rd edition.

Granted, they still only have one army but at least every army doesn't have to use webways anymore.

My Dark Eldar just won a golden ticket to Vegas at the Slaughter in Space GT this past weekend - DE are still kicking strong!

To my knowledge, GW has never squatted an army for this reason. Updated? Sure, many times. But Squatted? Never.

I was playing back in 2nd when Squats were, well, "squatted." At the time, the general consensus as to why that decision was made was simply because there was no one at the studio interested in doing the work on the models or the rules for them. They felt that Squats were not sufficiently different from the direction IG were going.

Scrap this 11 page hollow behemoth and start a new thread when we have something more than this.

agreed!

We will have another 70 page BA behemoth with frequent posters yelling at new viewers for not having spent 2 hours reading all 69 previous pages before asking questions lol

Yeah, I know why squats were squatted. And, as you just quoted, it had nothing to do with them being 'not economically viable'...

I heard July from somewhere!

In response to Black Blow Fly's list of more popular armies to update, I disagree extremely and would put dark eldar at the top.

"Somewhere" lied. GW has already confirmed that they release the 8th edition of Warhammer Fantasy in July.

Games Workshop is a good "somewhere" to hear the July release confirmation. Here's the link again.

But thats nothing to do with Dark Eldar?

I suppose if theyre advertising that they would be advertising the Dark Eldar so Im severely doubting its July too.

DE are Piratical Raiders, so they're going to sweep in under the radar and enslave WFB 8.0.

DE is rather safe from being updated. Don't worry.
The old codex from 2002 is still working, better than others updated in the meanwhile.
DE will never get a new codex. You have to faith the truth.
